    I have a G17 GEN 3 for home defense and carry a G26 GEN 5. Since I started using a higher grip, my shots have improved a lot, but sometimes a get these snake bites. On my G26 GEN5 I solved the problem using the beaver tail that comes from fabric, but there is no option for my G17 GEN3. Great to see this product. Gonna buy it right now.
    For those who say that never had snake bites, maybe you're hands are thin or you are just wasting a great chance to improve your grip. I know how to shoot with my hands high and not get a snake bite, but with a grip as high as possible, your shooting will improve a LOT, especially on fast sequences.

    I’ve never had slide bite from any gun I have ever used. That being said, I have had slight hammer bite from my 1911 from having a grip that was just exactly right for that. Having a slightly longer beaver tail on a Glock would very much help prevent slide bite if you’re prone to it.

    1st time I have nomenclature comment: A beaver tail on a pistol looks like a beaver's tail sticking out from the gun. Many 20th century semiautomatic pistols had them not only to protect from slide bite, it also protects from hammer bite. The very pronounced 1911 beaver tail is almost a work of art.
    Once you go to hammerless guns the problem is reduced. In the Glock with no hammer, less attention has to be paid to bite. The problem is lack of training and practice plus quick development.
    Of course hand size is a factor, and while my hands are bigger than average, yours are bigger and have more meat on them.
    The product is wonderful for protecting your hand

    Not so much slide bite, more like "slide glide" where the slide runs across the web of the hand and leaves tracks of oil on the skin. I bought these Beaver Tails kits (2) for my Gen 4 Glock 22 several years back and like them. They are a bit flexible on the top but that hasn't been an issue so far. It did help with my grip and my accuracy did improve a little bit. Glad to see they've back.

    Had one a dozen years ago for my duty G17 and liked it... until I collided with a metal door frame and it broke. If these will correctly mate with a PSA Dagger I may try one. Better yet, if they decide to make a mold for the PSA or other clones it might be attractive. For those who have never had a slide bite the web of your hands... you're lucky.

      These aren't the backstraps that make the whole grip bigger. These are just the top half so you can add a beavertail to your frame. These are also compatible with Gen 3 models that don't have the MBS grooves like the Gen 4 and 5 have.

    • @Bisqcateer
      @Bisqcateer 8 місяців тому +1

      It's all avoidable through training, but sometimes it just happens especially when you're shooting faster and don't have time to regrip between shots. I'm a pretty new shooter, but I did experience my first slide bite after about 1800 rounds and it actually sliced and tore my skin and some flesh underneath. Every slide bite will be different but I usually do hear of blood and an open gash when it happens to someone.
