I love how powerful the death troopers are. Literally only 4 guys (Baze, Chirrut, Melshi, and Sefla) are even able to get to cover, all the other rebels die
In this battle scene, this just proves that experience beats training any day, I mean there were dozens of trained stormtroopers against only a handful of battle-hardened rebels, and yet the rebels were doing pretty well
1:12 now, every time I defeat an enemy starfighter, I do a barrel roll through the cloud of smoke that came from the explosion of their ship in honor of General Merrick
4:52 - Good use of the original score there, the scene is almost reminiscent of ESB when there's air pressure outside of Bespin. Definitely like the Williams cues better here.
Always brings a tear to my eye seeing how many rebels readily laid down their lives in this mission, all of them knew the chance of making it out alive was slim anyway but it had to be done and it eventually saved the galaxy
I will say the edited does fit very well and the swirling feel to John Williams song worked so well for that scene. And just the over all classic star wars songs mixed in felt really cool also applied appropriately. I liked some stuff from the original. The silence at the one scene where we see the depth of the data room and hear the whirling wind.
Thanks for uploading this memorable scene. I agree with everyone who says the original score is designed to fit the scene. You can’t best serve the scene by injecting music that’s easier on your ears
Doesn't feel the same although the last one was repetitive yes I admit it's actually a common thing for composers to use a repitition device to build up tension within motifs. In this form it would be using the same note over and over but slowly increasing it with each moment. Think back to the classic jaws theme. It helps keep the audience in suspense because your prepared for something in your mind. The burst is coming because of the undertone of the music it also kind of makes you as a viewer dread whats coming and look forward to it at the same time so it keeps you gripped. The tensity of the two notes keeps you gripped and tensed for the scene but the buildup is really what your waiting for as a viewer. You can't wait to see whats next and thats how they get you hooked. Cloud city was a peaceful score because it was designed for different purposes. Every soundtrack drives its own narrative within the scene and a good composer appreciates this.
The second Death Troopers entered the battle should have come to a halt, they are elite and they highly trained, hell! They were drugged with fucking buffs to make them even harder to kill. No amount of force can stop 5-9 Death troopers lined up with you in there sights.
I feel like the Star Wars universe, for all its incredible advances in technology, must have missed the invention of the microchip processor or something.
Considering the vast amount of data stored on those drives...yeah I'd say it's reasonable. For example the Deathstar is a essentially a machine the size of a small planet. That's a bit of data to store.
I saw this movie 3 times at the cinema and I was not an Star Wars fan. This was an actual battle, still a lot of cheesy, it could have been more raw, more cinematic. But what made it over the top was the music... damn! it makes you cry.

The only star wars movie that shows how what happens on the battlefield you are NOT expected to live.
We need a series about a Deathtrooper Sergeant and his squad about how they kick Rebel scum‘s asses.
For real, everyone says they just want a Movie based on the Empire, or at least a show. Not like Rebels, they portrayed the Empire wrong. A show about a trooper and his friends in battle, or Elite Death troopers and the stuff they face. (Like republic commando) Or, just a game with a campaign that tells story’s of the Empire. But for some reason, we always get Rebels, it’s getting annoying. It’s so simple, people want stormtroopers, Disney has the money, but not the time. I hope they’ll make one in the future.
@@admiralpride7076 i know right its really annoying now, when i saw the battlefront 2 campaign i was so excited to see Empire protagonists, but then i was so disappointed later on...
@@cosmichorizon3273 “deceived by a lie,we all were!” But yeah, I was very disappointed when the campaign switched sides. Still a pretty “ok”campaign though.
@@admiralpride7076 agreed
Yes but Disney would never do that as it’s a good idea about Star Wars 🤣
Funny, the windy data vault has a "Bespin-ish" feel to it. :)
Honestly, I prefer the original. Its like a ticking clock, which was the point.
It got real when the deaths troopers showed and shit got serious at 2:21
We finally got to see what a Star Wars movie could be, since ROTJ. Well done, great choice for the plot, actually made the enemy formidable but not irrational. Made our heroes actually heroic.
The original, imo, feels a lot more tense as it should. It feels too serene in the edit. The music is repetitive to get the audience on edge, and it works
What Disney used for this scene in terms of music really worked. It built up the tension in a major way. I bought the Rogue One soundtrack and have to give it a thumbs up.
The Death Troopers were honestly one of my favorite things about this movie.
6:01 rebel hero wannabe
NaelDa Beast insted he got Rekt by a death trooper 😎
He thought he had plot armor! Empire will always win when rebels dont have plot armor
The king tried.
Gotta give him credit for atleast trying and volunteering himself while they were cornered
Dude thought he was Rey lmao
So much of this resembles the opening to the Saving Private Ryan intro…
And it’s badass!
I really really love the score in the movie, the part where it gets repetitive sounds a lot like the dies irae over and over again which fits SO GOOD bc it comes right before lots and lots of death starts happening, I love it
2:09 "when the Stormtrooper's use Hack for aim" DT: haha. hack..... hehe.....
Omg I am blown away with the John williams version matching so well. Truly a musical genius and proof that rogue one has the true feel of the original trilogy
I really believe that the editor(s) of Rogue One used Williams’s music as temp tracks. This one lines up too perfectly with the action to be a coincidence!
Even though we knew the outcome this is still one of the most tense endings to a star wars movie
5:53 "the switch is over at that console!" *soundtrack intensefies* goosebumbs
I love how powerful the death troopers are. Literally only 4 guys (Baze, Chirrut, Melshi, and Sefla) are even able to get to cover, all the other rebels die
And Melshi was already shot and dying too.
The fact you added the music to where Luke was hanging in cloud city was great
In this battle scene, this just proves that experience beats training any day, I mean there were dozens of trained stormtroopers against only a handful of battle-hardened rebels, and yet the rebels were doing pretty well
Peake Performance you have to admit those death troopers were pretty badass
You forget the rebels have the special ability called plot armor though they were still perfecting it as the end of this movie shows
I liked the U wing pilot I was sad to see her go but at least she went out like a champ and took a bunch of stormtroopers with her
I just LOVE how perfectly the ESB score fits perfectly with Rouge one!!!
The Cloud City music actually fits pretty well 👌
1:12 now, every time I defeat an enemy starfighter, I do a barrel roll through the cloud of smoke that came from the explosion of their ship in honor of General Merrick
Rebels: uhm guys... what happend my plot armor? WHAT DO YOU MEAN ITS NOW REALISM?!
I like that Star Wars didn’t overuse the Force Theme the way marvels does with the Avengers theme
4:52 - Good use of the original score there, the scene is almost reminiscent of ESB when there's air pressure outside of Bespin. Definitely like the Williams cues better here.
I like the original one personally.
Bistan’s death always gets me. Hearing his little chirp as the ship goes down. Only 6 months in the alliance and he is killed.
Anyone else thinks that the Scarif battle is just D-day but in Star Wars?
4:45 onwards....the music makes it all. Amazing!
6:02 "IM GOIN" *proceeds to be instantaneously killed*
Always brings a tear to my eye seeing how many rebels readily laid down their lives in this mission, all of them knew the chance of making it out alive was slim anyway but it had to be done and it eventually saved the galaxy
I will say the edited does fit very well and the swirling feel to John Williams song worked so well for that scene. And just the over all classic star wars songs mixed in felt really cool also applied appropriately.
I liked some stuff from the original. The silence at the one scene where we see the depth of the data room and hear the whirling wind.
Looks like the Death troopers stoped working since Krennic dead 😐
Thanks for uploading this memorable scene. I agree with everyone who says the original score is designed to fit the scene. You can’t best serve the scene by injecting music that’s easier on your ears
You did really well AGAIN!
Well done!
You deserve it!
Best Star Wars movie Disney has made by far, this is what happens when you but a real director on Star Wars
Am I the only one that enjoyed watching that rebel general get wasted?
06:00 so glad they used the same music as in "the empire strikes back"
This star wars movie is the only one where all the new heroes die in 😢
The second Death Troopers entered the battle should have come to a halt, they are elite and they highly trained, hell! They were drugged with fucking buffs to make them even harder to kill. No amount of force can stop 5-9 Death troopers lined up with you in there sights.
5:57 Jesus look at how many of these rebel elite Pathfinders got rekt by death troopers
Williams classic score fits well but I like the original. The first Star Wars film without Williams. They did well.
A civilization with ftl travel and their flash drives are the size of a baby
I feel like the Star Wars universe, for all its incredible advances in technology, must have missed the invention of the microchip processor or something.
Considering the vast amount of data stored on those drives...yeah I'd say it's reasonable. For example the Deathstar is a essentially a machine the size of a small planet. That's a bit of data to store.
I watched this when when I was 7 now I'm 12 & understand it's so good
Fuck man, watching this makes me wanna play battlefront 2 again
Stormtrooper: *can’t shoot without aiming*
Death Trooper: Fine! I’ll do it myself!
I saw this movie 3 times at the cinema and I was not an Star Wars fan. This was an actual battle, still a lot of cheesy, it could have been more raw, more cinematic. But what made it over the top was the music... damn! it makes you cry.
This is a masterpiece well done
Yeszzzzzzzz! Thank you! Seeing this only in 2024.
I prefer the original...
Same
this scene was so dark and gritty i loved it the music that was used in the movie itself did not bother me what so ever
The Master switch music creates such tension, it starts slow, just as the realisation that the rebels were losing, and created a more serious tone that there was an acfual threat instead of them having time to waste.
The music gets really awesome at the end there!
Loved the new SFX. So much better with Williams music.
This video still contains spoilers, as we see Stordan Tonc, Antoc Merrick, Taslet Colb, Laren Joma, Private Talwer, and Bistan die onscreen. In that order.
1:53 those TIE Reapers tho god damn
I love the original but I thought this was just as good well done !
I love this rebellion spirit in this movie
This is my favorite star wars movie
4:15 I think John Williams music made his death more impactful
I agree the second clip with the Empire strikes back score was much much better!
