The skill-gap between Kevin Harlan and all of these TV-commentators (including Romo/Nantz) is mind-boggling. Wish Kevin and Mitch would call a game on the National Networks just once 😂 EDIT since there are smart-asses on this comment section: I was trying to say that I wish that Kevin and Mitch would be on my TV TOGETHER when watching CHIEFS football, not in general.
My family used to go visit my Grandma in Kansas which was 7 hours away we would come home on Sundays so we listened to the Chiefs game on the way home. I listened to so many games from Harlan from the mid 80's to the mid 90's. His energy commentating a game is next to none. He really keeps you engaged in the game.
Harlan did the Chiefs on radio with Len Dawson & Bill Grigsby, 10 or 12 years maybe more. One of the greatest sportscaster voices on radio ever. (101.1 The Fox)
I wish Fox NFL Sunday was replaced by Kevin Harlan Network. But he can't call all the games. Lol. But he's good for radio because he makes feel as if you're at that game.
Big letdown, Montana ended up with a concussion. Carl Peterson brought some real talent to the Chiefs, but just couldn't get it done. Seen Carl once at the feed trough across the road from Arrowhead, he literally had 15 to 20 cell phones mounted on the dash of his SUV. Lot of action signing & keeping players happy.
Harlan called Timberwolves games at the dawn of the franchise and I maintain he was the most talented person ever to work for the franchise. He made those early games bearable.
Pretty even between both if you look at the resume. I think at one point he was simultaneously the radio play by play for both the Kansas City Kings and the Chiefs.
My wife and I lived in Kansas City during the Montana era - I think Harlan was the color man on the Chief’s radio broadcasts during that time? Miss KC - it was a great place to live…….!!!!!
Only Harlan can bring out the pain of a season-ending field goal shank. Pain and frustration. It's all the Bills and the Mafia have this time of year, every year. But with a banged up D and crappy special teams, the Bills would have been overmatched vs the Ravens. That club is strong in all three phases.
Remember when the bills were in last place EVERY season? So do they! I bet they much prefer this to being in last place (like their Sabres at the moment).
It also made more sense to just get the first down and take more time off the clock, to give the Chiefs offense less time after a potential Bills score. It was a horrible playcall for multiple reasons.
My favorite Kevin Harlan line is still one he did years ago in basketball. Shaquille O'Neal had just done a thunderous dunk and Harlan said, "Shaquille O'Neal with no regard for human life inside!" I know he's used that phrase before and since, but he nailed it that day.
I luv it 😂 right before he missed the field goal I was over here praying that the wind would blow super hard then he actually missed it I was jumping up and down screaming 😂 That's what they get for treating our guys so nasty. Never underestimate the kingdom!! ❤️💛

Harlan called games for CBS (I think CBS) a few years ago and he was one of their best. He only got the 3rd tier games, which meant he called a lot of Chiefs games. I also remember him from his time as the Chiefs radio announcer. He was so good on radio for KC that I was very skeptical of Mitch when he first stepped in. I was wrong about Mitch, but always enjoyed listening to Harlan when I get the chance.
Imagine he screamed. wide right wide right...the kicker missed the fg with NO REGARD FOR THE BUFFALO FANS 'HUMANITY". love it when he called that in NBA with a SLAM DUNK!
This Wide Right does not come close to Norwood's as far as importance. Norwood's was make it and you win the Super Bowl, miss it and you lose the Super Bowl. No overtime. Last night's kick would have only tied the game potentially sending it to OT in a *playoff* game, still needing two more wins for a World Championship.
Harlan, Holtus and Trent Green all live in Kansas city area. Harlan has the biggest house. Holtus comes from a small town town in North Central Kansas. Local radio calls Harlan the Voice of America.
