I've been a lifetime Chiefs fan, and it's been a case of the good, the bad, and the ugly. The legacy of the Chiefs has changed since Mahomes arrived, he's our Tom Brady and they are in a position to make a run at a Super Bowl 3-peat. I agree that they are currently a shaky at best 10-1 record. That said, they were worse last year and were a Wild Card team, but beat Miami in an ice bowl game, and then took out the Bills and Ravens on the road. So, hopefully some key players will be able to return before the playoffs and we'll see how they finish the season.
They were never going to trade Mahomes after they got him. Other teams and sportswriters were the ones doing all the talking (and wishing) about a trade.
@@drewbryan6739 sometimes it's hard to believe what people sell what people write what would you want to trade play like that after you got it the hit the jackpot with Mahone
We traded up with the Bills in the draft to take him at 10. I’m not computing the math that has the bills trading for him instead of just drafting outright.
Go Chiefs. The chiefs have brought excitement back to football . Thank you. I am 77 yrs old an a football fan since i was 16. Chiefs keep surprising the other teams . Thank you for the exciting games...
I am sure Mahomes would have gotten his chance on any team and could have connected with many teammates. He's just extremely talented in many ways and hard working as well, this usually pays off at some point.
Totally agree! Mahomes’ talent and work ethic are unmatched-he’s the kind of player who would thrive anywhere. But let’s be real, KC was the perfect match for him to shine! 🏆🔥
Payton's comment was from 2022...of course. Payton wasn't in "trade talks though"? Also Veach wasn't even the GM when Mahomes was drafted. Secondly Veach was the guy pounding on the table for Mahomes. He wouldn't be trading him. This is all bogus, but here's your comment you're phishing for. Congrats.
Mahomes' agent told KC that NO was going to take Mahomes at #11. Most teams had him coming off the boatd in the 20s, where KC sat. KC had the trade with Buffalo set in advance (no one thought KC would take a 1st-round QB). As soon as Cincy picked Ross at 9, KC pulled the trigger leaving NO with no way to counter. Fast forward to 2024 and it becomes clear why Payton was so pleased with how he fooled everyone into thinking they wanted McCarthey and not Nix. NO wasn't going to "trade" spots to get Mahomes because there was no need (in their mind) from where they sat and where Mahomes was projected to go.
Exactly! The regular season is just the warm-up. January is where legends are made, and the Chiefs have proven they know how to show up when it counts. 🏆
Even the Bills game was in the balance until Josh put on the Superman cape on 4th down and raced to the end zone. That 13 seconds in the AFC Championship decided this bold call. The Bills were WAY better in this game, but it STILL took this play to seal it. Kudos to the Bills. They earned this one.
@@Bashervr333 on the bills beat the Chiefs does celebrating like they won the super bowl Josh Allen cannot win a playoff game against the Chiefs they're going to have to play my home January 18th I'll be the game well we'll see
KC is playing 2024 on "ass mode" and it still takes teams playing 100% and their best hero ball to beat KC. One minor slip up and KC playing like ass still beats a team that gives 99.9% Think about that.
I think all of the Mahomes "trade talk" was OUTSIDE the Chief organization. You don't trade up for this guy to get rid of him. We will never know if Mahomes would have been successful under a different OC's scheme. Many demand the QB works withing THEIR system rather than tailoring their system to maximize the abilities and talents of their personnel. I liked Alex Smith. But he had issues seeing wide open receivers deep. I cannot count the times I saw an easy 8 or 10 yard completion for a first down while a receiver was frantically waving his arms downfield for a walk in TD, if only he's thrown the ball to them. That said, we are seeing this with Mahomes more and more too because he's not getting the protection he needs. He's simply running for his life back their and missing open targets.
You’re right-Mahomes was always KC’s guy, and Reid gave him the perfect system to thrive. But that O-line? They’ve got him looking like he’s training for a decathlon out there. Protect the franchise, and let the magic happen!
Thank you for everything for trading Patrick Mahone in the draft night to the Kansas City Chiefs you guys didn't believe in Patrick Mahone what do you think now three rings and 4 years enough many more to come
Right?! That draft night trade was the ultimate game-changer. Three rings in four years is just the beginning-Mahomes is out here building a dynasty. Think he’s got room for a few more trophies? 🏆
As s long time Chiefs fan, I'm beyond grateful they traded up for Pat.
Absolutely! That move changed everything for the Chiefs. Pat was meant to be ours-no doubt about it! 🏆❤️💛
Me too my pfp wouldn’t be a think rn
Same I’m chief fan
"Bet on potential over safety" wise words. Great video 👍👍

Lifetime Chiefs fan? Respect! 🙌 Mahomes feels like the ultimate reward for sticking with them through the highs and lows.

No trade discussions ever happened
Fair point-Mahomes was always their guy. The ‘what ifs’ just make for some fun storytelling! Appreciate the insight.
There was no chance he was ever getting traded. Where do you get your info from? Lol
You’re right-it’s hard to imagine it actually happening. But the ‘what ifs’ are what make the NFL so fascinating. Appreciate you watching! 🏈🔥
Then title it what if not mahomes almost got traded click bait bs
I don't want to even think of that dude playing for a team other than my chiefs
Right?! Feels like the NFL gods were on our side keeping Mahomes in KC. Can’t even picture it any other way! 🏆🔥
Seeing Nick wright with a buzz just seems wrong now 😂😂
Alex smith would probably still be playing ball if he wasent traded to Washington that year.

@blindjustice8718 you're making me laugh 😆😆😆😆✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I don’t think they were really that close. Veach LOVED Mahomes and that was pretty much it.
Fair point-Veach had his eyes locked on Mahomes from day one. Guess when you know, you know!
Bills would have a superbowl if they traded
Imagine what Josh Allen or Joe Burrow had The Chiefs Talent. I would say they would be SB Winner for a few years.
This video was great except one mistake. Bret Veach was not the GM at the time.
Great catch! You’re absolutely right-Veach wasn’t GM yet, but he was a key part of the team that believed in Mahomes. Thanks for pointing that out!
We don't live in "what if "
We dont live in "why not"
We live for "when the chiefs 3 peat"
We will talk about "How"
I think the way the chiefs lost in the last year of Alex smith made the decision to move on. That was the last overriding reason

Am GREATFUL THAT HES NOT IN BLACK AND GOLD
Dude the bills gave up the draft to the chiefs so they could get mahomes. Stop spinning bs
This is an old story.
True, but some stories are too wild not to revisit-imagine how different the league would be! 🕰️🏈
This is not a real story. Pat was never on the trading block.

What if I use madden to see would’ve happened?
Now that’s the kind of simulation we need! Let us know if Mahomes still dominates or if the NFL gets flipped upside down. 🎮
Well this is bs
Not everyone’s cup of tea, but hey, that’s the beauty of the NFL-always room for debate!
No truth here at all! 👎
