That's great to hear it was helpful for you! I think some people just want GameCube joy-cons and don't really care how good they are, and that's fine. But yeah, for me these just feel too cheap for me to use longterm. I did see a company named DOYOKY is making something very similar to the Wizard that looks like it might be a bit better. Planning on checking that out

@@NeiltendoPower Doyoky's are much much better. And they said that they're releasing Hall effect joystick ones with a black shell. Purple to follow after.

Just saw that Wii portable he's working on. Loved his Virtual Boy project too!

You know its high quality when they use Hall Effect Sensors but they need more buttons on the back. Rumble is dumb.
Also, those shoulder button clicks are what the Call of Duty pros love. That's a $40 option on a SCUF and $52 option on Battle Beaver.

The problem is that the rumble is super loud and feels very cheap. I’m familiar with mechanic/tactile triggers too, but these are nowhere near the quality of a SCUF controller and also feel very cheap

@@NeiltendoPower OK well the whole controller design is pretty bad I don't know why people still buy this style. Thanks for the vid.

No no. Hall effect doesn't equal quality. The quality control on these Nyxi GameCube JoyCons is awful.

Give Doyoky GameCube JoyCons a look. They are much higher quality.

Nice video. You sure did use a lot more descriptive words than me!
Having the option Turning the switch on and off are important to me as is rumble. But there’s so few that have HD rumble so I always go back to joycons. MP remastered especially has so many great HDRumble effects!

I’m glad I read your comment.
I have the Wizard and was planning on using it with MP, but after reading this I plan on using my modded Nintendo Pro Controller instead.
I recently modded it with 4 remappable back buttons, clicky hair triggers, and interchangeable metal thumbsticks (short concave left stick and tall convex right stick.)
Quality haptics are important and I don’t wanna miss that experience.
On another note, I opened up my Wizard and the little rumble motors are hot swappable. Right next to them there is a proprietary slot for a weight they added to make the controller feel more premium, but it’s the same exact size as JoyCon rumble motors and they have the same exact plug.
I’m tempted to try swapping one out and see if they have a chance of working in the with actual HD haptic feedback. I have a small glimmer of home because the Wizard is recognized identically as JoyCon on Android and PC, whereas other 3rd party joypads’ inputs show up slightly different on other devices.
Anybody have thoughts on this please chime in!

Like... of the game, or of how these perform in Smash? If the latter, they're fine for casual /if/ you have one of the pairs that doesn't have input issues, but they are not at all suitable for competitive play.
