For me, I didn't cry first time seeing this episode because it was so emotional, I basically just shutdown! On rewatch when I was "ready" I sure as hell did cry then!
@@__-fm5qv For me I didn't start crying until Goodbye started playing on my first watch. Since that was when my brain was in "right lets think about everything that just happened and process it now" if i rewatch it now i start getting teary before it happens because i know what happens
I basically don't cry ever, and definitely not to movies or shows (which is my detriment, I'd like to cry more,) but this episode got me very very close to it
Mia Sinclair Jenness (Powder's VA) was just 10 years old when she was casted to voice Powder, and she was 11-12 years old when they recorded the lines for this episode, she only needed two takes for her dialogues in the final scene between Powder and Vi (they kept the first one).
Wow! She’s so talented! I assumed it was an adult that sounded young ie Lisa Simpson. I wish I could see her perform those lines, voice actors put on some spectacular performances as well ❤️
Don't do spoilers, people. We can talk about the show, but only untill the present episode, never forward. Doesn't matter if the show is around by some time, review channels are also watched by people that don't decided to watch the show yet, and the own reviewer is still watching. Be mindful.
@@wtimmins even talking about the game. Cause people who played the game catched a LOT of stuff from this episode. More than the avarage. Me included, even 2 friends of mine called a little far out until Season 2 teaser dropped.
@@wtimmins anything that isn't stated in the trailers or summary should be considered a spoiler. But it's not hard to go SPOILER And then continue on with your message down here. That way people HAVE to click to get spoiled
Ironically, because Silco understood Powder, exactly this saved her life. If anything else happens, he would pierce her heart on the street and would go hunting her sister. She was saved by her fragility.
@@asia911 Spoiler Marcus left Powder to be gutted in an alley by a sociopathic crime lord. The fact that crime lord decided to raise her into an unhinged attack dog and serial killer instead isn't really a point in his favor. Meanwhile, out of guilt and to make himself feel better, he kidnapped Vi. He then tossed that tweenage girl into the basement of a prison to be abused, brutalized and forgotten for the rest of her life because, once that moment of conscience passed, he had no balls to do anything else for her. Marcus in the end was just an angry, bigoted little man whose own pettiness lead to the destruction of a great many lives.
@@troikas3353 LOL. Marcus still save both their lives. SPOILER Marcus need to do whatever to keep the peace with his deal with Silco just like Grayson and Vander. They have to arrest someone or else the Enforcers coming after them. Vi was already volunteer to be arrested. Marcus have a daughter to protect. Same as Silco and Vander so I don't even know what you yapping on about. Marcus is just as complex as the rest of the other characters. ""Is there anything so undoing as a daughter?" They all die in the end(Silco, Vander, Marcus) protecting their daughter(s).
I never understood the point of reaction videos; i found so many of them just frustrating exercises of watching people repeatedly miss the point in real time. But after I first saw Arcane I found myself scouring through reaction videos (and there are a lot of them). Yes, the animation is beyond gorgeous, and the storyline is well-written and well-structured, but the show also derives so much power from the evoking of raw emotions without crossing into melodrama. A good reaction video can be a way of re-experiencing (and sharing) the catharsis Arcane evokes as the story unfolds. This is the best reaction video I've seen; it's a great blend of analysis and emotion. You're so perceptive that no story points escape you, but you're also incredibly generous in sharing your emotional reactions, and where they come from in your own life. I appreciate your courage in sharing aspects of your own story and I hope (and believe) the show will continue to offer you opportunities for catharsis along the way. It's a ride powered by trauma and damage, but there are also moving displays of love and hope.
The idea behind a good reaction video is more or less like sharing a show or movie you love with a friend so that you can re-experience it again trough his innocent eyes. Not all reactors seem to understand that tough... Some reactions are les reactions than analysis or comedy shows, which has its own charms but it is just not the same.
As someone who has seen many reactions to Arcane. I can recommend Not So Average Fangirl. She is very quick to pick up on sub text and call backs and is especially expressive and invested in the episodes. I like rewarching her reactions when I have free time.
I saw a lot of reactions to Arcane, but she was the first one to pick up right away "not the bombs, baby" because she didn't just rely on usual plot armor.
@@steffanhymer1285 her reactions were great! I just wish she didn’t hate Silco so much. I feel like she profoundly missed the parallels between Silco and Vander. But yes, Elijah is a treasure.
I feel like the best reactors are the ones who realize how life-altering Vi's words to Powder were. Vi was her only pillar of unconditional support, and she usurped a lifetime of support just by saying "Mylo was right". Also, noting the parallel between Silco/Vander and Powder/Vi is something only a few people pick up the first time. In a kinda sick way, great content :)
Anyone else super thankful for the whimsical, _"FOR SCIENCE!!!"_ hijinks of the Jayce-Viktor storyline this episode? Not sure how I would've coped had the episode solely been the Vi-Powder storyline. 😅😅
Even when I was editing I was so glad to get a break from not having to sit there and re-cry my eyes out every time. Just even getting Heimerdinger scurrying down the hallway brought a smile to my face. So thankful for those moments lol
You guys are stretching it way too much, it's like you've barely seen any show apart from this one. Stop overreacting when the story is super simple, the way it's executed is what matters.
@@kenshiku That exactly their point - the most perfectly CONSTRUCTED tragedy. A classical Greek tragedy has a very strict form and thematic elements. It's not only about the content but about achieving the most perfect form possible. The themes (like the inevitability of fate, flawed nature of humans, honest intentions and decisions bringing death and suffering) and execution (3 act structure with distinct narrative goals, use of musical elements to reinforce important narrative elements) in Arcane are possibly the best implementation of the original Greek ideal in any modern media.
@@kenshiku The same could be said about any tragedy by Shakespeare, Euripides, etc. The execution is exactly what matters, and _Arcane_ is executed _magnificently._
I was in love with this show from the start. From this episode onwards this feeling elevates to extreme highs. As a4- something man I cried like a madman during this episode. Snot and all.
First: my sincere apologies. I was one of the dorks that commented with the spoiler-ish “you’re not ready for episode 3” nonsense. I was swiftly reprimanded by other commenters and (full disclosure) deleted my message out of embarrassment. I am sorry. Lesson learned. My passion for this masterpiece simply cannot be overstated. It has essentially ruined me for all other media. Watching reactions, essays & commentaries has kept me close to the show. I thought I’d gone as deep as I could go…..until I watched this reaction. Thank you. Thank you for your openness. Thank you for sharing your raw depth of feeling. Thank you for sharing your personal history that shaped your experience of this episode and this series. It was a sincere privilege to watch and emote together with you. Bless you. This is art at it’s highest and most fundamental….it shakes us up, it moves us to tears, it connects strangers. This show is truly special in countless ways. I am grateful for this channel. You have a wonderful spirit, honesty and energy that makes you supremely watchable. I look forward to taking this journey with you (and keeping my mouth shut).🙏🏼
I appreciate you. I know for the most part absolutely zero people want to ruin the experience. They’re either excited for it or they’re remembering it and feel the need to express something. I love that about this show. A lot of people being very openly emotional about an animated show… it truly is a masterpiece.
I'm so very sorry people started spoiling the show for you. I do my best to see it as well-earned enthusiasm and appreciation. I'm so so sorry to hear about the passing of your sister. I think, though, it makes you uniquely connected to the pain Powder and Vi feel. I really feel like the fanbase is split half and half on who "deserves" the most blame (vi or Powder) for what happened, but in the end its a horrible, horrible position that no child should ever be put in. I'll just give say these episodes were put out in 3's (so 1-3, then 4-6, then 7-9). So taking a break at those parts would make the most sense if you need to take some time to collect yourself. It is a beautifully-written story with fantastic characters and I'd love for you to finish it.
Thanks for sharing your emotions, although it must have hit you harder than most of us. I have seen easily more than 30 reactions to this episode (and the whole show). It is still impossible to stop the tears from coming. That is what makes Arcane a unchallenged masterpiece.
Best react channel on youtube. Someone who really gets how much of an amazingly crafted piece of art arcane is right from the get go. I'm going to watch ALL of these regardless of when they come out. Thanks for being so genuine :)
Pro tip, always pay attention to the lyrics of the songs in the final scenes of the episode, it's like they were written just for the scene. Prepare for a emotional journey, I look forward to reliving the series with your reactions. Your intuition and non biased character outlooks are going to allow you to really see the depth of the writing and character developments. This maybe animated but it's without a doubt one of if not the most emotionally impacting story that I have ever experienced.
it's not just "like they were written for the scene" the entire soundtrack is literally for this show, even the "pop" songs performed by other artists were written in-house which allows almost every song to be available under creative commons (though the copyright around Enemy by ID seems to be a little more complicated)
21:33 I don't know how they managed to animate such a complex facial expression. Its a fake person. A child that doesn't exist yet I sit here, looking at this expression with the thought that no child should EVER have this expression. One that conveys sadness that has been swallowed by anger. Serious props to the people that created this, and of course Powder's voice actor.
I mean I went and watched every episode three reaction I could find after the fact too 😂 It’s slightly masochistic but for some reason we just love the pain
In every great piece of art, like a movie or series like this, there is a point at which it transcends its genre and grows beyond the tropes and expectations you had before that moment. This episode is that moment for Arcane.
That heartripping scream for Vi, when she leaves Powder is maybe the best voice acting I have ever heard. It goes right into the bones. I'd move mountains to get to a child who screams like that to do anything to help.
I truly appreciate finally seeing a reactor that stayed for the outro track to this episode, so many people missed it and how it meshes so perfectly with the poignancy of the ending scene. (As it should, this track along with most were not only written for the show they were also scored TO the scenes.)
The scene of Powder's emotional devastation was so perfect-absolute perfection. It's so easy to get it wrong; to either over-act, or make it a sappy melodramatic moment. Adult screenwriters are generally very bad at writing children. They're either annoyingly precocious-"wise beyond their years"-or they're "cute", one-dimensional caricatures of children. In reality, Powder's brain is still developing, and her emotional control center is nascent at best. Because of this, her emotional experience of the world is felt completely and in the moment; she is unable to process or contextualize her experience. When Vi tells her "we are family", she feels the love and connection deeply; she feels safe. When Vi is angry with her, her devastation and shame is a bottomless pit. When Vi leaves her, the sense of abandonment and loneliness is absolute and terrifying (Vi didn't actually leave her, but Powder was unable to understand that). Her perception of reality is directly and fully shaped by what she feels in any given moment.
Sorry for the spoilers people have done, people are terrible at judging the line, unfortunately. But I totally appreciate your work and your intelligent strategy.
So refreshing to see a reaction channel with true genuine reactions, no matter how messy. I don't like when other channel edit out the "ugly" parts which we all go through. It just makes it so more real. Love it! Can't watch to check out more of your videos :)
First of all...LOVE the "spoilers" disclaimer. Next, I feel like we need to start a quote book for you and "people who lick knives are weird"...gotta be a top 10 ..well, so far. Loved this reaction, can't say enough about it. Also, side bar...the pop of blue in the hair? Killer. Great content as always, excellent catch on the intro figures as well as the gem stone count calamity. Those catches are just a part of why we keep coming back for your reactions.
This episode is everything I love about great art. Great art tells stories that moves you. This show is better at telling a story than most movies. Arcane is a masterpiece. It's as simple as that.
Late to the party on this reaction, but Arcane aside I admire and in a way envy your willingness to be so emotionally open and truthful in these reaction vids, this one in particular. That’s such a foreign a concept to me as I keep things close to the vest and most people at arms length. Despite that, your raw honesty in this reaction did warm my Grinch-like heart, which is saying something. I have no doubt your sister is very proud of you for sharing your story and touching the hearts of all who watch your channel, even a crusty old moron such as myself.
Love your reaction. Love your tears. Love your puffy face. Not because your are crying. But because that's you! Your emotions. Your honest reactions. You as a human being! Protect yourself, if you have to. Give you a pause, if it helps you. BUT we are here for the honest reactions! If someone don't like your emotions, thoughts or visuals, than he can looking somewhere else ;) Be yourself! 😊 [Edit: that's just my opinion]
Here Here! I can't really enjoy a reaction if there's no emotion or energy to it. I love this channel BECAUSE she wears her heart on her sleeve. Watching those emotions at someone's first watch of something is the closest thing we can get to re-experiencing it for the first time ourselves.
Good intro chat and I agree with your releasing them after you watch it all. I think people hype stuff up too much for some reactors for upcoming episodes. I've watched other reactors not get what happened at the end of the last episode with Vi turning herself in to spare the lanes and atone for what she's done. Such a great powerful moment for the character. The episode end with the song is just perfect. THis show is able to combine everything into a package that just puts it over the top in terms of it's storytelling and evoking emotion. Silco's "Base violence necessary for change" sets up a new status quo that we'll see in the next episode. Wonderful reaction, lilgal!
I was not a fan of reaction videos...at least until I saw one of your "Blue Eye Samurai" reactions. After devouring your entire series, you steered me toward your Arcane reactions. I loved this series before. Had never heard of the game. The animation, rich characterizations and depth of storytelling had me. Your ep 1 and 2 reactions were great, and I enjoyed your discoveries and emerging perspective. But episode 3...I must admit that your reactions brought tears. You've taken reaction videos to a whole new level. Thank you for sharing that vulnerability with us.
Same. Saw the Blue Eye Samurai reactions and now I'm going through and watching all of the reactions of movies and shows I like that she has. I love her reactions.
Your reaction, out of the dozens I have seen, is by far the closest to my own. My main connection to the show was Powder. I struggle to put into words why I so strongly identify with her character. Don't ever regret crying while watching a show like this. It's a beautiful expression of your connection to the emotions. I cry almost every time I rewatch it.
I'm just now seeing this reaction, I think having watched many reactions to this episode your's truly my favorite. I've also lost my only sister, along with other people in my life. Seeing someone react to the same scene that I did in the same way is so nice to see. I loved how you explained your feelings and thought process so clearly. I wish I could like a video twice, I look forward to the rest of the reactions!❤
The thing is Silco prior to adopting Powder/Jinx did not hate Vi. He considered her a sell-out to Piltover but he also admired her as "Vander`s prodigy" before everything that went down just as Powder/Jinx did afterwards.
"The things that happen to us shape what we become" I'm going to have to think about this sentence for a bit because as of now I think it really means a lot to me. Thank you.
As far as reaction channels go, that idea of positing the rest of the series with huge fandoms (especially ones with seasons as short as this) after you've seen them all is a great call. I think more channels should do that, because I've seen reactors get spoilers. And it not only sucks for the reactor, but for us as viewers as well, even though 99.999999999% of us have probably already seen these shows multiple times. Watching you guys witness our favorite shows is a major draw of the reaction experience.
I don't know if you're still reading comments, but I just wanted to say, I'm constantly on the hunt for good reaction channels, and yours is amazing! I usually stay away from solo reactions because they don't tend to discuss the content they're viewing, but seeing the video length and view count drew me in. After watching your intro, I can tell you have a real passion for making these videos, and analysing the content itself. Subscribed, and can't wait to see what you do next!
(no spoilers, just a comment about your uploading choices lol) I love your reactions, this'll hold me over until the next upload you make for Moon Knight!
Just commenting to say that I approve and support the decision to watch them all first and then upload them. The advantage of allowing comments in between is that people (who will often have watched the show or reactions multiple times) can sometimes help you with understanding what happened and point out subtleties that you may have missed, however this is probably not worth getting (inadvertently) spoiled by enthusiastic viewers. So overall probably a wise tradeoff to make. 🙂
Thank you for your reaction and sharing some of your own backstory to put it into perspective. It was one of the most emotional things I've seen in a while and a good reminder how easy one can forget how vastly different experiences in life can be. Thank you
I can't wait for you to watch the rest of it. Out of all the reactors I've seen react to this, you're one that understood the characters the most, and I'm so happy to see someone else be this invested in the show. Too bad I can't just time travel to a point where you'd be done with the show, so I can watch it all at once. Closest thing to it would be sleeping through the days/weeks, so time passes faster. xD
I just discovered your channel, and you have a new sub! Your reactions and analyses are awesome. I’m very sorry to hear about what you shared regarding your family. I can’t even imagine. Please take care when watching this series. Looking forward to more!
You handled the issue with spoilers with maturity and i admire your commitment to genuine reactions rather than over the top nonsense to get views. I only really watch reactions because i enjoy the discourse, and hearing your personal story while reflecting on the show was a gift. Thank you. Much respect.
That was one of the most powerful, raw and personal reactions 'I've ever seen. Glad I subscribed. That couldn't have been easy to do given your own history. Thank you.
From someone who's watched Arcane at least 10 times and watched almost every reaction series out there, I must say this is one of the BEST post-episode discussions on UA-cam. Thank you very much for your insight!
Sorry for all the comments - this was wonderful. I am so sorry for your loss and it was fascinating to hear your opinions of these characters based on your own experience. The ending of this one is so brutal. Loved seeing and hearing your thoughts on it and will check out the rest soon!
I’ve never seen one of your reacts. Condolences for your loss. Beautiful/authentic reaction. This series is just *chefs kiss*. I see Obi Wan in the background. This series is what Star Wars wishes it could be/tried to be. Best writing I’ve seen (animated or otherwise) is simply stunning. You definitely do feel all those feelings in one. Good energies
I cry every time I see that scene no matter how many times I’ve seen it. I can’t believe how it would feel for you with a more personal connection to the characters.
Arcane hurts... i watched maybe 40-50 reactors, i know exactly whats gone happend next but every time again, i end with "a wet look". Im not the one that always crys watching movies or what ever but this show....uff... nothing i watched, hits me harder. 4 me, Arcane is the best thing i ever watched
As someone who lost his older brother, your chat at the end resonated SO much! I don't often watch the talks at the end of reaction videos, I believe this was the first one actually!
I've seen quite a few reactors and many have also had an issue with getting low-key spoiled with this episode. The problem is when people think about spoilers, they think about spoiling specific plot elements, not about spoiling the blind viewing experience by being tipped off on which episodes you should be on edge about.
New here.. Also know a lot of reactors. Some of them like low-key spoilers ("this person will become important. You will like this" "your reaction to EP XY will become great"). Some are indifferent. Some hate/don't like them (conservating the REAL experience of a first time watching!). No one is wrong - it's something individual. BUT if you are on the extra-carefull track, you will have to be expecial clear in your no-spoiler guidelines (or you have to pre record )
Everyone needs to take a page from Frank Costanza. He likes to go in fresh, and people who don't understand that viewpoint or even argue against it are dickbags.
Beautiful reaction. So honest and open. Very brave of you to explain how it affected you particularly because of your own grief. Sorry I’m late to the reaction on this, only just found your channel
This episode just killed me the first time I watched it. It's hard to watch you cry, but you have very sincere reactions to what you watch. I can emphasize with you as I too lost a sister. I love watching your content because of your intelligent and intuitive commentary.
I never cried during the show, but I can imagine it hitting deep for you and other reactors. Very sorry for your loss! And keep up with the reactions, I liked your Blue Eye Samurai ones ❤
10 mins in and I can already tell this is going to be my favorite reaction to Arcane. I usually skip intros but yours was so engaging in the way you describe how you take in the show. Will definitely watch whole thing.
There's a lot to unpack here in this episode, Powder's reactions to things and her pre-existing likely to mental illness, be it the violence that she's had to witness, most of all her life, making her indifferent to the fact that Vi hit her, but caring singularly about that dependence she has on Vi..you mentioned not feeling bad about Mylo and Claggor, which is totally fair, but for me I guess the sadness there comes in where you know how it's going to weight on Vi and Powder, the guilt involved there, we've seen them as most likely adopted step brothers most likely living in close quarters for some years now, and now gone due to Powder's act. As much as I love this series, I hate that they included that part in the opening that you caught, for that very reason.. when I have people watch it, I have my friends skip the intro, because, even like people that built up this episode for you, even if it comes to fruition or not, it puts expectations, right or wrong, in the mind.. and I think it's best to go into this series and just experience it with nothing pulling one way or the other.. it was an odd choice by them I feel. On the above note, after Episode 4, which I imagine you've watched by now, I'd say check out the Official Video for Imagine Dragons "Enemy" with JID, it's really neat and offers a small bit more context. The deal with Marcus, I think Marcus was just looking to solve the crime and Silco tipped him off, which led most likely him telling Silco about the soon to be arrest, I don't see Marcus as a bad guy, just green and very by the book from his position of privilege up above. As far as Silco goes, there's a lot there as you saw, he certainly wasn't about to let topside take Vander.. I feel he still wanted that bond, wanted Vander to rejoin the cause.. like he said, with time his hatred faded, as time often does with old wounds, things just.. went another way. I also think, if things would have played out a different way, Vi very much may have been up for joining that cause, as she too wanted to fight for the underground, while Vander was content to just keep the status quo in the Lanes, putting out fires but not addressing the bigger picture. I look forward to your further reactions of this series.
About Marcus; I see him as trying to emulate some of what Greyson did with Vander, but he’s young and inexperienced, and doesn’t realise he’s been played by Silco until after the attack outside Benzo’s. One thing that pops up occasionally; after he yells about this not being the deal, Silco throws a bag of coins at his feet, and one of them lands in Greyson’s blood. Marcus keeps that coin. He’s looking at it when the cannery explodes; years later, he’s still considering it before talking to Silco about the enforcers who were killed by Jinx. Marcus was weak, and in way above his head. But, to be fair, he was dealing with a master manipulator, who simply got the better of him.
I completely agree, regarding Marcus and Silco. Marcus is just the right blend of ambitious and naive for Silco to use to his advantage. And Silco. Silco is constantly on the lookout for things, people, and situations he can use to his advantage. The more I rewatch this episode, the more I am convinced that though Silco is willing to kill everyone, he would rather turn them to his cause or leverage them to his purposes. Even his reaction to Vi fighting on the bridge strike me more of him analyzing her skills as a possible asset more than as a threat that must be eliminated. Once Powder's bomb destroys his factory, Silco loses his cool for a brief moment, and orders Deckard to kill them, but as soon as he stabs and dispatches Vander, he regains control, and switches his orders back to 'find the girl'. I think he's still trying to keep his options open in recruiting Vi. This openness to adapt, and willingness to see the potential value in others as tools to further his cause is partly why Silco is so quick to accept Powder, and momentarily abandon his hunt for Vi, with the rest obviously being the parallel connection he sees in Powder.
@@kamakazines4901 I definitely agree about Vi, I think Vi could have been very similar to Sevika.. if things had played out differently, Vi very much wanted to fight, lining up with Silco's revolution.. Wanting to keep to what we've seen so far in the reactions, in regards to Vi calling Powder a jinx.. it might very much be true, but not only towards her family unit.. ..in this act she essentially stopped Silco's ability to revolt against Piltover as his Shimmer surplus gets destroyed, if this didn't happen, Silco's revolution may have very well succeeded at this point in time, while Jayce and Viktor proved Hextech worked that very night.. they are far beyond able to use it for anything effective. Piltover has guns of course, which we don't know how Deckard would have faired against them, as it would appear guns are somewhat reserved to Piltover, never seeing anything beyond melee weapons below
@@kamakazines4901 Interesting moment - Sevika moves forward to take on Vi on the bridge, but Silco holds her back. He _is_ observing her, assessing her utility. In Ep 6, when Silco turns up outside Vi’s old shack, he actually says that he was impressed with Vander’s prodigy, but that Jinx was the real prize. What people don’t realise is that Vi could have easily gone in a completely different direction if Vander hadn’t intervened when he did to talk her out of fighting against the enforcers. She may very well have ended up working for Silco alongside Sevika.
Some folks are very critical of Vi hitting Powder. But we have a child brought up in extreme hardship, she's seen her family killed in state violence, she's constantly angry and grew up on the streets. Her go-to for every problem is punching. And she had just seen almost all of her family die horribly before her eyes. Not saying it's cool for her to hit her sister, but I think it's understandable given the EXTREME stress and propensity to violence she's learned. And when she leaves Powder at the end it's clearly just a personal time out as she is horrified by her actions. For her part, Powder has obvious attachment issues galore. Again, she's seen her family killed in state violence, everything's been taken from her, she's been the 'weak one' in her new family group, constantly trying to prove herself but flooded with fear and insecurity. This goes toward her hysterical sobbing in the basement when the rest of her siblings go off to save Vander. Again, abandoned. Unworthy. And latching on to the monkey bomb to save everyone! She's just a little kid!! God, I feel for everyone in this. Well, not Marcus. Eff Marcus. A cop who carries around ether just in case? WTF?
I agree with everything and also I found that about the chloroform very funny. For the most part, this was my take on the event, but I didn't really think about Marcus carrying that just in case he had to use it on some random girl. Pretty messed up indeed haha. Juuuuust in case.
@@kaijingarou6526 It's a blink and you miss it moment but Marcus also drew his pistol while chasing the kids in Episode two. In otherwords he was at least considering shooting children for essentially just frustrating him. Marcus was never a good person.
@@troikas3353 Yeah I also realized in that scene that he was drawing his gun to shoot the kids before they kicked down the ladder. He believed himself to be way above that marginal scum with the rights to do whatever they thought necessary to please the council.
@@troikas3353 YES! Guy was going to shoot at some kids who were running away. And has anybody wondered, what happened to Marcus’s wife? We only ever see his daughter.
@@Pete...NoNotThatOne Spoilers During the Episode 5 montage we see him sitting at his desk contemplating the grenade Silco wants him to frame the Firelights with, and there's a framed picture his daughter (presumably) drew for him. It shows two stick figures on the ground and one floating in the sky. The reasonably clear implication being that his wife, or at least his daughters mother, died at some point. It's unclear if that happened pre or post time skip though since we don't know his daughters age. She seems very young, though Silco does passingly claim she's close to the age Vi was in Episode 3 but he might have been exaggerating.
I know this video was from like three months ago and I have no idea what happened then, but you saying stuff about Frozen actually reminded me of what I took from the movie myself and personally I feel like the overall message of Frozen was that love isn’t always right and that being different doesn’t mean that your not human, that was just my take away and I actually have a few thoughts about Disney and their movies but we’re not gonna get into and also this reaction to this episode reminded me of the first I watched it I didn’t cry I just sat their frozen in sadness, anger, disappointment and so many more emotions my brain just couldn’t handle it all and I sat their for an hour instead of crying my eyes out cause I couldn’t process anything that happened and yeah that was my experience but I’m glad to see someone else resonated with the whole Vi and Powder storyline because I feel like it was actually a really great yet unique way of explaining real life and all that 🥰
I just subscribed and turned on notifications for this channel. Your view on spoilers just earned so much respect from me. I found this channel by absolute chance yesterday, by clicking on a user from another channel that I enjoy watching and seeing what else they subscribe to, as I was running low on content to play while I'm doing things. I do this occasionally and I seem to find more interesting reaction channels than just searching blindly and finding the same reaction-mills that always appear at the top of those results. Whether it's series and movies I'm a fan of, or video games that I really enjoy the story of and love a true blind playthrough experience with, it's always a challenge to find a channel that seems to care about taking it in at all, rather than having a mindset of, "ahh, I gotta get it out! And I gotta say something every 5 seconds to justify being on the screen!" They either completely ignore comments and both don't discuss their thoughts of the show/game with the community, but also not during the video, making it just watching a heavily edited version of whatever it is with someone's head included, or they'll discuss it *way* too much, getting spoiled at every turn, with zero genuine reactions, making the entire thing pointless. Just that you care, and you're able to communicate that without being an ass, whether it should be or not, it's hugely impressive to me. This is the third video I'm watching on your channel and I'll be sticking around. 👏 (I also had a huge sigh of relief during the first episode when you were able to see them jumping on rooftops and you didn't shout "hardcore parkour" 10x+... Yes, we all remember, a very funny show rhymed two words that time. Not everybody gets to ride that credit indefinitely.. It's already in the same category as "wazzaaaaaap" and "my wiiiife!?" I lost a lot of respect for a lot of reaction channels trying to find a place reacting to this series, lol.)
What i really love about this show is how "human" and understandable the emotions are in this show... It s not black or white, u can understand the both sides !
24:30 i just want to say, thank you, sincerely for sharing such a personal experience/connection with us. and also, thank you so much for acknowledging the pain powder is being put through and talking about how they show her pain/grief. i've seen other people react to those scenes (specifically, the part where powder is crying and ripping off the money doll head) and they react as if powder is overreacting/in the wrong somehow. as someone who has had eerily similar breakdowns when dealing with trauma, those reactions were hurtful and made me realize we still have a LONG way to go as a society and how we think about these things. some people are way too dismissive of the sheer toll the trauma had on powder's mental health. thanks so much for your words and thoughts!
So sorry for the loss of your sister. No wonder it impacts you hard. 😢 In regards to warnings or spoilers, I think in some cases is also out of concern for you. I have seen reactors watch say Band of Brothers (also a good short mini series... ), and comments would say to be aware some of it might be tough to watch etc., it's because of what anxiety or pain or fear they might experience watching it based on who the reactor is... Also, some people are dicks.
Lol, I don’t think anybody was being a dick on purpose. And if they were that’s on them and they know it, I assume the world is a better place than that.
Great reaction... Looking forward for the next one. This is why League of Legends players asked for a show or movie for years. The Lore in this fantasy world is so great and has so many amazing and unique characters.
One of my favorite things about reactions to this series is that for nearly every character there's some that love them and there's some that hate them. Nobody is without their flaws and everyone has redeeming qualities. Everyone has understandable motivations for what they do.
A quick comment on the structure of the show (no spoilers); The show was released over the course of three weeks with 3 episodes released as a single act each week. So it’s interesting to see how each act is further broken down into another 3-part structure per each episode with a “conclusion” happening on 3, 6, and 9. Really looking forward to the rest of your reactions!
"how you feelin now, Marcus? Jackass" fandom in a nutshell. you're my fav arcane reactor along with Chris. if someone loves the show as well as it's art and effort, I'm hooked. thanks! "I have a feeling this isn't going to go well" hah. hah. hA... **agressive sobbing**
Yeah. This episode is heartbreaking. The best people, in special who have siblings, can't avoid to cry. Very sorry about your sister. When we have in our lives people that share our hearts and we lose them, this change us. We realize that we took them for granted, but nothing in this world really is...
I think a lot of people with siblings can relate, but also anyone who’s had a relationship break and it devastated them so much they change the course of their life.
It's always wild to see ep3 reactions getting waaaaay more reactions than other episodes And I rly feel it's so unfair not just to the creators of the show, but also to the reactor Your reactions have been quite unique so far and I appreciate the visceral genuine reactions And I will be watching all the react episodes Stay strong!
Man, it's so rare to see ppl already feeling emotional at the bloody scene Can relate. I cry so much at so many scenes in this damn series xD Edit: btw, I don't see ppl picking this up, and fair may just be my read of things But re: the scene Vi asks Powder to stay It's deeper than the typical "I can't lose you" moment in media At this stage Vi is super shaken and confused and traumatized with how bloody things she saw were and the idea that her dad could die That even tho she's usually such a good and nurturing sister to Powder who is very considerate of her different mentality and physicality In that low point when all Vi could think of was the horror of what she saw and of losing Vander, she actually bought into what newly everyone says or feels about Powder. That she messes things up and she's the weakness in the team, the source of all hiccups And she was like "I can't let this rescue be a screw up" And she lashes out in a split second "you're not ready!" And you can actually see after saying that she has a moment of clarity and catches herself AND THEN she says 'i can't lose you" this is actually covering up her shame that she wasn't the good sister she usually is While I 100% agree with you Vi is a good sister, I think this moment she wasn't and understandably so But ppl miss that nuance (maybe bcos of desensitization of violence. As nice and kind as anyone is, esp a kid, going through smth extraordinarily traumatic will bring out the worst impulses) And I see possibly why, like the show has been feeding how thoughtful she is and mature for her age she is. That we just assume oh yea, at this point things haven't been that bad yet, she's still who she is normally. Nothing to see here So ppl lose that nuance. I think. To me that also adds to later on when she not just verbally but physically lashes out and says "you're a jinx" it's a build up and emotional continuation of that little spark in the back of her head back in their home A lot of ppl only picked up in that final moment that Vi got triggered But to the praise of the story crafters AND the animators, I think they already showed that the seed was planted earlier on It's rly subtle and most ppl don't see it. I think But again, maybe I'm just reading into it. But that's how I see it
Man. That was a rough one wasn't it? /hug/ I feel you sis It speaks to how well writen and acted this was. Ppl often overlook voice actors over live action actors And yea I was wrecked after my first watch (and a few subsequent ones too) And esp you being vulnerable enough to share your personal story You're so brave to be this vulnerable to so many ppl I'm sorry for whatever happened to your side And also to you I wish you well ❤️
3:45 "if something happens to Vi, I see Powder not being Powder anymore" is the most insane reverse-prediction I've ever seen in a react (edited to fix timestamp)
@@funnylilgalreacts 😭😭😭 thanks for sharing with us. Love your message "the things that happen to us shape who we are". This was the first vid of yours I've seen, my friend suggested you because of the Expanse reacts. Somehow you watch all my favorite shows lol can't wait to see more
Powder gets hit by Vi... her question wasn't "why did you hit me" or something, Powder just didn't care. "Why did you LEAVE me ?" THATS what Powder cared about even than. Also i am a Vi apologist: Her losing her temper and hitting Powder is... human... given what she JUST went through. And she did the right thing: Once she realized what she was doing, she stopped, stepped out of the situation to feel her feelings, calm down and would have gone back to her. Thanks Marcus...
I too am a Vi apologist. That much death and destruction could make anyone crack. Is it ok, no. Is it forgivable, absolutely. She had no intention of leaving Powder behind, she needed a minute. Powder didn't care about the hit, it was the abandonment she was feeling more than anything.
"Milo was right." The memory of every single time Vi defended powder has been completely dissolved now. She has severe detachment anxieties, her little bunny doll, she lights up like a firefly whenever Vi is around. She suffers emotional attrition when she's gone for too long and now in her mind she has absolutely nothing and no one
I genuinely expected just another fake reaction "wow" face then miss the point like most reactor channels out there. I was wrong. You are the most sincere. You touched my heart. Condolences to your sister.
I completely understand what you mean about interacting in the comments sections! I will say this - I would say most moderators are great at getting rid of comments that are blatant spoilers, especially if you tell them exactly what sort of thing you are and aren't ok with!. For me I got a couple of comments saying this as a 'big' episode, but had no inkling it was going to be like THIS. Anyway, typing this before actually watching the rest of the video! XD No to watch the reaction!
Yasss it's christmas today! I've been waiting for this! Honestly, what you said at the beginning of the episode makes total sense.. But even so, your videos are A LOT more organic than pretty much every other reaction channel on youtube. Keep it up, we love you and the content you make!
6:51 "The villain journey is paved with Miss Fortune" huehuehue Idk if you've seen any other league stuff outside Arcane (like cinematics or whatever) but if you do you'll find out why that line was funny lol
I’m sorry to hear about your sister. I’m sure that wasn’t the point of Frozen, but I totally understand how something can feel unintentionally personal, and how painful the relatable specificity can be.
Powder’s story into darkness and becoming Jinx is soo sad and good. Its good to see that there actually giving the basic story from the game for Jinx Justice.
omg, this is why i subscribed. one of the best most genuine reactions i've seen. someone who appreciates the wonderful terrible cathartic release of tragedy! i hope you enjoy the rest of the show as it goes :)
You should add the Enemy music video by Imagine Dragons and JID to your Arcane reactions. It contains scenes that aren't in the series. Best to wait until after the series to watch it, to avoid all spoilers.
Incredible reaction, I appreciate you powering through the review at the end! No warnings for the future as per your request, but I'm excited for you to see the rest of this story. It truly is one of the best pieces of media I've seen in a long, long time.
Thank you! Sometimes I think to myself I can just take a minute fix my make up and then deliver my end commentary. But I want to be as genuine as possible, and I’m glad that you appreciated what I had to give
Him: "I'm tough."
Me: "How tough?"
Him: "I watched Arcane without crying."
Me: "Nobody is that tough."
For me, I didn't cry first time seeing this episode because it was so emotional, I basically just shutdown! On rewatch when I was "ready" I sure as hell did cry then!
@@__-fm5qv bro sameeeeee. At the start I didn't cry but after finishing it... It changes you I swear
@@__-fm5qv For me I didn't start crying until Goodbye started playing on my first watch. Since that was when my brain was in "right lets think about everything that just happened and process it now" if i rewatch it now i start getting teary before it happens because i know what happens
I basically don't cry ever, and definitely not to movies or shows (which is my detriment, I'd like to cry more,) but this episode got me very very close to it
I literally watched it without crying. But i was heartbroken. But didn’t shade a tear i guess i am that strong :)
I wish I could see her perform those lines, voice actors put on some spectacular performances as well ❤️
in an interview, two of the editors said that everyone also raved about Ekko's / Little Man's voice actor, Miles Brown
Wow, that's amazing.
This is seriously an amazing fact. Every fact makes me love this show even more.
@@funnylilgalreacts there are some Behind the Scenes footage floating around on UA-cam I believe, with the voice actors! 🤩
“I’m excited for the rest of this series,” she says, openly weeping.
Truly the quintessential Arcane Episode 3 experience.
"That destroyed me. More please."
"I thought we were gonna lose vi, but in reality we lost powder." oh my god. perfectly said. you just summed up the whole series.
So sorry for the loss of your sister. My goodness, this series must hit on a deep level for you.
I didn't expect this to be not only my favorite show I've watched this year, but also the one that broke me this way. I love it on so many levels
Don't do spoilers, people.
We can talk about the show, but only untill the present episode, never forward.
Doesn't matter if the show is around by some time, review channels are also watched by people that don't decided to watch the show yet, and the own reviewer is still watching.
Be mindful.
The problem is that there are people who just don't get what can constitute a spoiler. Unfortunately.
But it's not hard to go SPOILER
And then continue on with your message down here. That way people HAVE to click to get spoiled
Ironically, because Silco understood Powder, exactly this saved her life.
If anything else happens, he would pierce her heart on the street and would go hunting her sister.
She was saved by her fragility.
Yup, it mirrored his own fragility. If she wasn’t “the same”, he would’ve tossed her aside.
Silco didn't understand Powder and never does. He projected his own trauma and his own issues on to her. There's a massive difference.
Nope. Marcus pretty much save both their lives. Preventing Vi from getting to Powder save Silco from having to eliminate both of them.
@@asia911
Spoiler
Marcus left Powder to be gutted in an alley by a sociopathic crime lord.
SPOILER
Marcus need to do whatever to keep the peace with his deal with Silco just like Grayson and Vander. They have to arrest someone or else the Enforcers coming after them. Vi was already volunteer to be arrested.
Marcus have a daughter to protect. Same as Silco and Vander so I don't even know what you yapping on about. Marcus is just as complex as the rest of the other characters.
""Is there anything so undoing as a daughter?"
They all die in the end(Silco, Vander, Marcus) protecting their daughter(s).
Yo same, never watched any Reaction Videos until after I finished Arcane. Watching people experience such a good show is so enjoyable.
I cried my eyes out the first time I watched this episode, it hits me so damn hard in the feels...
I cried several times while editing. The slap and “you’re a jinx” kept bringing tears to my eyes
as a 43yo grown man who watched this and also broke down, maybe due to my own unsolved issues, thk u for this. so much.
"have you had enough?"...
I swear, this show is one of the most perfectly constructed tragedies of the last 400 years.
You missed a 0 there. That's when the classical greek tragedies were written.
I don't think they were _that_ far back (2500 years, maybe?), but in any case I was thinking of Shakespeare and some of the masterpieces he wrought.
👏
THANK YOU This show changed my life, and I'm not being dramatic. It is a masterpiece.
Wow, that is the best reaction to Arcane 1x3 I've seen. Really.
❤️
Best react channel on youtube. Someone who really gets how much of an amazingly crafted piece of art arcane is right from the get go. I'm going to watch ALL of these regardless of when they come out. Thanks for being so genuine :)
Thank you so much that means the world to me!
If you like reactors that understand art, check out FilmBuff and Semblance of Sanity.
Literally every song was specifically written for its scene. The entire soundtrack was made for the show.
The lyrics are pretty on the nose. Kinda hard to miss the connections to their respective scenes.

I don't know how they managed to animate such a complex facial expression.
Its a fake person. A child that doesn't exist yet I sit here, looking at this expression with the thought that no child should EVER have this expression. One that conveys sadness that has been swallowed by anger.
Serious props to the people that created this, and of course Powder's voice actor.
Me at the start of this video: Heh-heh. Time to watch someone break into tears reacting to this episode.
Me after this video: I’m also sad now.
Even more impressive for a 10 year old child actress. Kid actors can be very hit & miss and this was definitely a hit - right into the feels.
Love it! Can't watch to check out more of your videos :)
the amount of reactions that cut off at the end song blows my mind. its literally the best part lmao
I’ve seen this episode so many times and it still packs such a punch.
Oof. Your reaction mirrored my own. Thanks for sharing

Love your tears.
Love your puffy face.
Not because your are crying.
But because that's you!
Your emotions.
Your honest reactions.

[Edit: that's just my opinion]
Thank you.
I definitely cringe when I read the "prepare yourself for episode 3" comments. I appreciate your positivity though! =]
Watching you guys witness our favorite shows is a major draw of the reaction experience.
you nailed the reflection on this episode... beautiful analysis

Thank you
❤️
whoever animated Powder deserves a medal. It's so good.
Thank you.
Thank you ❤️ it was pretty therapeutic
@@Krusesensei yep, agree
Everyone needs to take a page from Frank Costanza. He likes to go in fresh, and people who don't understand that viewpoint or even argue against it are dickbags.
Beautiful reaction. So honest and open. Very brave of you to explain how it affected you particularly because of your own grief. Sorry I’m late to the reaction on this, only just found your channel
oh god. hearing what you said at the beginning of the episode this must have been so tough for you. Much love, stay strong.
@@Pete...NoNotThatOne Spoilers
During the Episode 5 montage we see him sitting at his desk contemplating the grenade Silco wants him to frame the Firelights with, and there's a framed picture his daughter (presumably) drew for him.
(I also had a huge sigh of relief during the first episode when you were able to see them jumping on rooftops and you didn't shout "hardcore parkour" 10x+...
I do admire, that you watched it till the very end. To hear the closing song. Probably as the only one reacting here on YT. Sensitivity: 110%. 👍♥️
“I also saw Jace with a hammer, I’m here for it” after crying about Powder and Vi fighting was just the cherry on top of this whole series 😂
"As Vander is not his brother anymore" I totally missed that emotional connection.
"I have tears and snot running down my face."
Yep! Welcome to the Arcane family.
My deepest condolences for the loss of your sister. Loved the reaction and your discussion about the episode.
One of my favorite things about reactions to this series is that for nearly every character there's some that love them and there's some that hate them. Nobody is without their flaws and everyone has redeeming qualities. Everyone has understandable motivations for what they do.
Marcus?
Ep 4 is amazing and ep 5 as well and ep 6,7,8,9 😁😉
A quick comment on the structure of the show (no spoilers);
The show was released over the course of three weeks with 3 episodes released as a single act each week. So it’s interesting to see how each act is further broken down into another 3-part structure per each episode with a “conclusion” happening on 3, 6, and 9. Really looking forward to the rest of your reactions!
Wow, what a reaction ! thanks for you openess :) first time coming, will sure be there for the rest :) have fun
Thank you, I appreciate you!
"how you feelin now, Marcus? Jackass"
fandom in a nutshell.
you're my fav arcane reactor along with Chris. if someone loves the show as well as it's art and effort, I'm hooked. thanks!
"I have a feeling this isn't going to go well"
hah. hah.
I think a lot of people with siblings can relate, but also anyone who’s had a relationship break and it devastated them so much they change the course of their life.
wow, watching your reaction to Vi hitting Powder and calling her a jinx nearly broke my heart.
You're going to love the rest of the show. It's really a masterclass in animation and storytelling.
It's always wild to see ep3 reactions getting waaaaay more reactions than other episodes
And I rly feel it's so unfair not just to the creators of the show, but also to the reactor
Your reactions have been quite unique so far and I appreciate the visceral genuine reactions
And I will be watching all the react episodes
Stay strong!
Man, it's so rare to see ppl already feeling emotional at the bloody scene
Can relate. I cry so much at so many scenes in this damn series xD
Edit: btw, I don't see ppl picking this up, and fair may just be my read of things
But re: the scene Vi asks Powder to stay
It's deeper than the typical "I can't lose you" moment in media
At this stage Vi is super shaken and confused and traumatized with how bloody things she saw were and the idea that her dad could die
That even tho she's usually such a good and nurturing sister to Powder who is very considerate of her different mentality and physicality
In that low point when all Vi could think of was the horror of what she saw and of losing Vander, she actually bought into what newly everyone says or feels about Powder. That she messes things up and she's the weakness in the team, the source of all hiccups
And she was like "I can't let this rescue be a screw up"
And she lashes out in a split second "you're not ready!"
And you can actually see after saying that she has a moment of clarity and catches herself
AND THEN she says 'i can't lose you" this is actually covering up her shame that she wasn't the good sister she usually is
While I 100% agree with you Vi is a good sister, I think this moment she wasn't and understandably so
But ppl miss that nuance (maybe bcos of desensitization of violence. As nice and kind as anyone is, esp a kid, going through smth extraordinarily traumatic will bring out the worst impulses)
And I see possibly why, like the show has been feeding how thoughtful she is and mature for her age she is. That we just assume oh yea, at this point things haven't been that bad yet, she's still who she is normally. Nothing to see here
So ppl lose that nuance. I think.
To me that also adds to later on when she not just verbally but physically lashes out and says "you're a jinx" it's a build up and emotional continuation of that little spark in the back of her head back in their home
A lot of ppl only picked up in that final moment that Vi got triggered
But to the praise of the story crafters AND the animators, I think they already showed that the seed was planted earlier on
It's rly subtle and most ppl don't see it. I think
But again, maybe I'm just reading into it. But that's how I see it
Man. That was a rough one wasn't it?
/hug/ I feel you sis
It speaks to how well writen and acted this was. Ppl often overlook voice actors over live action actors
And yea I was wrecked after my first watch (and a few subsequent ones too)
And esp you being vulnerable enough to share your personal story
You're so brave to be this vulnerable to so many ppl
I'm sorry for whatever happened to your side
And also to you
I wish you well ❤️
3:45 "if something happens to Vi, I see Powder not being Powder anymore" is the most insane reverse-prediction I've ever seen in a react (edited to fix timestamp)
LOL, you can see where my trauma lies in that statement. I lost my older sister so naturally that's what would destroy me...
The moment Powder breaks when Vi leaves her absolutely shattered me. I was not okay.
I knew something big was coming so I was "overly prepared" for it, but I could have never guessed it was THAT.
Yasss it's christmas today! I've been waiting for this! Honestly, what you said at the beginning of the episode makes total sense.. But even so, your videos are A LOT more organic than pretty much every other reaction channel on youtube. Keep it up, we love you and the content you make!
I’m sitting here with tears in my eyes, this means the world to me ❤️
6:51 "The villain journey is paved with Miss Fortune" huehuehue
Idk if you've seen any other league stuff outside Arcane (like cinematics or whatever) but if you do you'll find out why that line was funny lol
You made me cry all over again.
You should add the Enemy music video by Imagine Dragons and JID to your Arcane reactions. It contains scenes that aren't in the series. Best to wait until after the series to watch it, to avoid all spoilers.
I know this is ancient now (Where is season 2?!) but I have so much love and respect for your intro here. Utterly based. :)
