What video editing software you’ve used making this video. The map with the route at the start is nice.

I use Adobe After Effects to create the animated route on the map at the start, and other editing is done in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Making the trip in August 23. Just wondering is the roads between Christchurch to lake Tekapo via the Geraldine /Fairlie non alpine roads? So if we stick to day time driving we'll be at a lower risk of neeeding to learn to put snow chains on ? And avoiding ice

While not what is classed as alpine in New Zealand, there are some hills (Burkes Pass) that can get snow at that time of year - as well as Tekapo itself. Rare though for the snow to be so heavy that the road gets closed or chains are needed.

@@flightless6520 Thanks! We're going August mid (18th+) so hoping by then the winter is a bit more 'hospitable'. No issues against chains, apartt from never having fitted them so am hoping to not have to .... probably easy once you've gotten used to it as a local haha. Hopefully the trip over to Tekapo then will be snow free. We are heading to Queenstown way from Tekapo , would you (on an off note) classify the route there as a typical alpine area that could be subject to snow regularly (particularly around August), or also unlikely?

@@Veneros Presumably you'll be traveling over the Lindis Pass. That route would be counted as alpine and is more likely to get snow a few times a year, although not often heavy enough to close the road. It is highly likely you'll at least see snow on the surrounding hills. BTW, it is often the latter part of winter (July-August) when the South Island gets heavier snow. But if you strike snow, it will just make the trip more memorable 😁

There are a few mild hills to get over between Geraldine and Fairlie, but nothing too bad.
