Call me paranoid, but I'd suggest to anyone purchasing this to put the golf ball in the tube BEFORE loading a round. Even though it's a blank. Better safe than a broken finger.
Good call. Or at the least, load it like a mortar, i.e. cradling the ball in the web of your hand, between thumb & forefinger (more or less like making an "OK" sign), drop it in in a single motion, following through so you "stroke" down over the barrel/muzzle device, without ever placing your fingers over the muzzle.
Our gun shop sponsored a Par 5 hole at La Cantera in San Antonio for a tournament to raise money for kids in need. We charged $5 a pop to anyone wanting to Tee off with the launcher and our best usable "drive" was 450 yards just before a hard dogleg left. We pounded the ball in tighter trying to reach 500 but almost every time it ended up peeling the skin off like a grape. Everyone had a ton of fun and we raised a lot of $$ for the kids. Note: I highly recommend clearing this with management ahead of time. Some people get a little edgy seeing a guy with an AR-15 and no clubs walking around outside the clubhouse.
probably the blowback wouldn't work either because the pressure is too low with no projectile. Anyway, I'm having issue with the AR-15, it wouldn't cycle using the Tulammo .223 Rem still casing. Do you ever use steel case in your AR guns?
I have mine on a 7 1/2" barrel and get 14.5 second hang time when shot almost vertical and every bit of 500 yards when shot at 45 degrees. My nephew gets 12.5 second hang time with a 16" barrel. Both with German DAG blanks.
what state are you in damn it's beautiful. too bad that I live in new york where having fun is banned but I am saving up to move to KY in the next few years I would definitely put that on my sks and enjoy as the sks is the only gun we can have the evil features on without screwing up the magazine as fixed magazine guns are exempt from the ban
Thanks for chronographing, most guys doing this stuff on youtube don't bother. The formula for energy is, I believe. Velocity squared times weight of projectile in grains over 450400.That gives you about 97 ft. lbs of energy...About like having Nolan Ryan hit you with a baseball but way less than a.22 long rifle... thanks for posting.
I built a golf ball black powder cannon a couple of years ago and 60 grains of fff would giv e about 400-450 fps over my little Chrony..It would shoot clean through a3/4" piece of plywood or a piece of 29 gauge sheet metal...Nope, I don't wanta stand in front of such a weapon!
It's made by NC star, I bought it from my local gunstore, but I have seen several on GunBrokerdotcom. They cost in the $25-30 range. Thanks for watching
Tryy adding tissue-paper to get a better seal to go farther, then re-make this video at same gunrange. :-) Even the can-cannon with 12oz (much heavier) beer gets 300fps, and others got results from the tissuepaper'ed-golfballs so it's TIGHT in the barrel w/ a clump of remaining paper taped-up to itself at the rear for the powder to 'delay' burning up that paper and finally get to burning up the paper on the sides of the golfball.
Got one on order. Has anyone tried tissue, tissue paper, or similar over the golf ball (like wads over old musket balls) to prevent the ball from rolling out when the firearm is aimed slightly downward?
prando.... My guess is the pressure curve is way to low to unlock the bolt, since there is not a projectile in the bore, allowing gas into the port as it passes by the gas port. Good question though, Thanks for adding to the discussion.
Thanks gapster46 for the suggestion. I think i would have better odds to hit the Powerball lottery, than hit a moving golf ball with a golf ball. My skills are challenged with more mundane targets, don't even wanna try this one, on film, it would be a total fail.
kabaruser, I guess this could be used as a non lethal encourager. I could see it turning a mob of zombies back when a few get dinged with a golf balls. i don't want to be downrange trying to catch one.
Your new driver. This gives a new meaning to yelling “fore” on the golf course. Pretend you are 22plinkster. Set up a swinging golf ball, and shoot it with a golf ball. Probably a UA-cam first.
You're right.... frivolous. But it looks like so much fun! Next time, you'll have to get some bigger targets and see if you can come close to hitting anything with it! Thanks for showing it to us! :)
prando #2...Try to find info from Patrick Sweeney. He has written a series of books on the AR-15 and other firearms. Great writer and gunsmith. Perhaps he also has a website too?
trees... I guess it would work for putting if you are a few hundred yards from the hole. You'd want to keep the other golfers from behind the hole though. LOL.
Are the launchers made from steel or aluminum, and are they built pretty concentric? I'm wondering if it would make a good starting point for a form1 suppressor? Thanks.
prando...I can use steel case Tula in my rifles, and they surprised me how well they grouped and cycled for cheap ammo. I am not schooled enough on the workings of the AR15 to diagnose why steel won't work in your rifle. I would think there is a source of knowledge on the web, that can help with your problem. Good luck on your search, Jon.
wonder how they would react at the driveing range when i pull out this puppy lol
blackriflex39 it would probably cause a stir. Good luck if you try it.
yea I value my freedom a little more than
to try it lol
@@blackriflex39 then your not using your freedom...

great advice, i noticed that when I was editing the video. Your suggestion is safer. Thanks for adding to the discussion.

I agree, safety would suggest your procedure to keep your fingers intact
Jon with no h shootology channel Shot a golf ball through 2 pieces of 1/2" plywood. Yes, it will do major damage.
one way to improve your drive at the yearly company golf game.
gearsNtools It would draw a crowd, for sure
+Jon with no h happy gillmore could beat that any day lol

can shooter, golf ball shooter, what next?

David Wade neat , never considered trying it vertical.
"near vertical". You don't want it falling on your head!

towerhillbilly It still would hurt really badly. I'm, not lining up to get hit with this yet.

LOL this is at my range in williamsport haahah. what a small world
Got one on order. Has anyone tried tissue, tissue paper, or similar over the golf ball (like wads over old musket balls) to prevent the ball from rolling out when the firearm is aimed slightly downward?
so we have can/tennis ball cannons, we have golf ball launchers. wonder what sport the ar15 will adopt next? hockey maybe?
Do they make one for .50BMG? Would love to show up to the driving range with that. Might put a hole through the ball collection cart. :)
BaconCoqSlap The Third I don't know , but it would be hoot if it was possible. Thanks for watching.
vs ballistic gel.....
Now this would make golf fun.
Metalman200xdamnit yes it would
Jon with no h shootology channel
I would watch golf if it was like this. Would have to have a larger course and more safety, though.
I'm thinking that some plastic Easter eggs filled with colored powder and glued closed would be pretty fun way to see the impact.
i'll have to make one for the mosin and pull some bullets. then paper & wax seal the end.
dale myers sounds like a cool experiment. good luck
FOUR! FIVE SIX RUN RUNN nonlethal defence animal control loads of fun chase the neighbors with it
Would this have enough energy that it should not be shot at people, like trespassers and such?
dano griff It would hurt bad, bruising. Could be very dangerous with a hit in the head. Moving very fast.
You have to have fun every once in a while...if you don't, you'll go crazy =))
Nice Jon, I'd have to hit my 3 wood to get the same distance to the green...
So Rory McIlroy would easily out power your AR-15.. ?
KeefsCattys Is he a golfer?
It needs tissuepaper wadding to get a good seal on the barrel and go farther.
prando.... My guess is the pressure curve is way to low to unlock the bolt, since there is not a projectile in the bore, allowing gas into the port as it passes by the gas port. Good question though, Thanks for adding to the discussion.

Nonlethal!? That could definitely kill somebody
I have an image in my head of turfing a ball at the golf course, and then pulling an AR with this out of the golf bag and letting loose haha.
Your new driver. This gives a new meaning to yelling “fore” on the golf course.

mckwilly, a driving range would have to be pretty understanding to let you open up with this, but it would be neat. Thanks for watching, Jon
How come the blanks cartridges wouldn't cycle? That the AR-15 is gas operated not blowback
What happens if you shoot a live round using the Golf Ball Launcher? Any thing bad?
1ove2Act I bet it would not be good. I'm not willing to experiment.
AllAmerican...,a bigger target sounds like a great idea. I may also test it for how hard it hits too. Thanks for the suggestion, Jon
chevy6299, this would make golfing especially fun, IMO.
rls303, I have been curious for a while, but when I found it at a local gun store, I had to buy it. Loads of fun.
who needs a golf club
Don't know, but if they did, it would have to be a long putt. Thanks for stopping by.
SCVGun, yes flash suppressor is removed, and this screws onto end of barrel.
Are the launchers made from steel or aluminum, and are they built pretty concentric? I'm wondering if it would make a good starting point for a form1 suppressor? Thanks.
They are steel. Not sure about concentricity. good luck

Now that is cool, I need that when I play. Wonder how it works for putting. LOL
gunnwold1, I try to have fun every trip to the range. This trip was more than usual.
Wow, Great idea OIFEagle, I will consider your suggestion for a future vid. I will consider the logistics. Jon
Well FC45LC, I'm not a golfer, but with this launcher I would consider playing a round or two.
So whats the deal..You just leave all the golf balls in the wood..I imagine it wouldn`t be as fun if you had to go pick up those balls..
MrDave... that may draw some attention, but it would be cool.
Nice little draw there at 1:05. Try a interlocking grip 😉
OK, I will add it to list of range projects. Thanks for the suggestions. Jon
Four!
It would be cool to shoot one low to water and see how far it would skip
That would be cool, tough to find a big enough body of water, that would not endanger any other people, here in PA. I'll keep looking.
LOL he should have yelled Fore!
Or taken it to a Golf course.
I bet I would be chased off the golf course. But it would be fun.
FORE!!!!!
Par 5 will no longer turn into par 8s lol.
FOOOOOORE
That looks identical to my range!
pricelesspits could be , is your range the CSLC in PA?
haha good stuff.
checkout our mouse hunt now
I'll watch that video when you put it out! :)
would you post a video of you shooting live rounds through the launcher?
Dalton hammond sorry , i don't think that would be a good idea. Probably very dangerous.
damn son, that is a beautiful range
do they do a putter
Well that's a way to golf....
gameghost2010 it would draw attention to your tee off.
Great, thanks for watching.
dangerous as he is loading live blank before loading ball, safer to load the ball THEN load your live blank
WRONG. You must load the blanks, then load the ball, you safety-nazi KNOW NOTHING moron.
^ must have no life as he has nothing else to do but be a troll.
Does it replace the flash suppressor?
question: can this be used with live ammo? or does it have to be with blanks??
+WordsofWisdom2010 blanks only, no live ammo.
If you wanna launch golfballs or other objects - blanks.
If the launcher is empty - live rounds can be used, in my experience.
WordsofWisdom2010 are u stupid?
500+ yards
Robert Watson never walked it off , but it was a long way.
Tiger AR15
100 % funn = )
It's a whole lot more fun than a kick in the balls
