Afternoon Richie, what a blast! Looked and sounded brutal up there over night and in the morning, beautiful footage we do love the Brecon Beacons ❤🏴👍 also happy St Davids day! What a pitch and a camp you guys won't soon forget, the Berg did you proud! That sunset was spanking and in contrast to the stark reminder of teh brutal temperature and winds! Fab video, Have a great week, Ceri and Kat ❤⛰🏕👍☕🥰🗺🧭🥶
Hey guys! Great to hear from you! Thanks for watching, it was definitely a trip I won’t forget quickly. Was genuinely worried before pitching the tent about making it through the night but the Soulo was faultless. Even Elaine’s little Naturehike made it through after we took a bit of extra time and effort making it secure. Makes me wonder what the Hille could actually cope with if really put to the test. Anyway, happy St David’s day to you too, hope to see you both soon! X
That looked a bitterly cold one Richie but still good to see you enjoying it. As always the Soulo was steadfast too! Nicely edited once again pal. ATB Andy
Really lovely to meet you up there Rich, amongst that wind and sun. Glad you manged to camp with all that weather, enjoying it all and thanks for the video man. Hope you're well, great work and keep it up!
Hey pal! Great to hear from you I wondered if you’d manage to find me. It was a hell of a night and that wind really didn’t drop at all. Really great fun. Was good to meet you mate, hope you manage many more adventures in the future.
Love the music Rich, love the ending, I got a sense of community (which is what we really need these days) even if it's a couple of mates camping out with you, that's a beautiful thing 🍻🔥
Many thanks Jonathan, the music is a really important part of my films for me, helps to set the mood that I was feeling at the time. A sense of community and fellowship is a major benefit of the wild camping movement I think, although there are many, me included, who still enjoy the odd trip completely alone. Thanks for watching and commenting buddy, glad you enjoyed it!
Great watch Rich. As the crow flies that is 12 miles from my nice warm bed...lol. Fab timelapses as always and good to see you getting off the mountain in one piece - biting winds up there at times. atb Al
It was a fantastic trip mate and one I won’t forget quickly. I love those conditions and as long as I’m within my abilities and my gears capabilities I’m happy! Thanks for watching and commenting buddy!
@@WildAstro Well I have seen you now do Eastern Beacon & Main Peaks so next on your list can I suggest a camp on the Carmarthen Fans... in particular lets say Fan Foel. Great views towards Llyn y Fan Fach and a great spot to watch sunrise the following morning towards Fan Gyhirych & on towards the main peaks of PYF & Corn Ddu. Camp spot I would suggest would be about OS Grid Ref: SN 82125 22318. You might even like a camp up on Fan Gyhirych as its a flat plateau and a very easy walk up to - my Jan video shows what its like a little. atb Al
Loved the night lapse, I always take my aeropress to camps now I even take it to work ha tent did well that naturehike took a battering from the side ha atb nick
To be fair, we spent some extra time securing the naturehike and it stood up really well. Makes me wonder what the Soulo could actually cope with if really put to the test.
Brill mate, I'm pretty certain my appearance at the end stole the show though 👍 👍 😂 certainly was an adventure. It felt a lot colder than that though 🥶
Great video Richie… thank you ! Just love the Brecons… Planning a few camps there later this year. Watching your video… now i can’t wait ! Cheers bud 👍
A camp to remember in those conditions! BTW I loved the piano music over the early morning section. I've just started learning to play piano so some good inspiration there🎹😀.
That’s fantastic for you mate. I used to be a music teacher so the music is always very important for me in my films. Hope you get one well with your studies mate, good for you!
Great to see Pen Y Fan again, last time I was there was in the Sixties! Beautifully filmed as per, stunning nightlapse, sure looked breezy up there Rich, those earplugs must have come in useful. Atb Anthony👍👍
Nice and relaxing video. A very nice tent too, its on my wish list for solo camping in northern Sweden (maybe settle with the RL version though). But, I was a bit concerned about how your back pack was carried. Try the Fjällräven Keb, it can be adjusted to fit everyone so the weight gets closer to the body. Then you do not need to bend forward that much to counteract for the load being far behind.
Hi there, thanks for the advice! To be fair, as long as I pack the bag correctly it doesn’t feel like it’s off balance but will definitely look into the Fjallraven next time I’m in the market for a new bag. Thanks for watching and commenting, glad you enjoyed it!
Hope all went ok? I had a tumour in my back last year luckily it was benign. It was pressing on my nerve sheath was a 9 hour operation. How did the BL Soulo do in the strong winds? I’m thinking of getting one. ATB.
The Soulo is absolutely bombproof in high wind mate. Glad to hear your tumour was benign and they managed to remove it. I’m just struggling through chemo at the moment, but getting there. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Wow that frost was amazing. Nice one Richie. I just was wondering if you could recommend a lightweight travel tripod for general filming and some astro with my DSLR?
Cheers Rob. Have a look at the Benro range of tripods mate. They’re not the cheapest, but I’ve found their products to be far superior to the likes of Manfrotto etc.
It did really well. We too extra time pitching it and making sure the guys were all correct. I have to admit, Elaine didn’t get any sleep in there though.
Great video Rich! Amazing how you made such extreme weather look so majestic and peaceful. Was that a sneaky amaretto in your hot choc? Nice! And Pauls little dance at the end love it 🤣. I would love to see Elaine’s take on the evening 😁
Certainly was Amaretto my dear 😉 Weirdly for me conditions like that don’t necessarily mean “not peaceful”, just a little more challenging to find the sweet spot. As long as I’m confident in my gear and within my abilities I don’t find this kind of situation stressful in the slightest. Loved every minute of it! X
Hi Andy, yes I think so. Hard to be sure because the timelapse function on my camera does some odd things when it exports the films, but that’s the only thing I can guess it must be.
Hi Rich. I notice you aren't wearing your military boots on this one. Were they too uncomfortable to break in or something? Camper is looking well lush btw xo
Hi Clare! No, just chose to go with the Salomons this time out. Army boots are still all good! Thanks for the kind words in the van too, I’m well pleased with it!
Nice footage Richie, & admittedly I usually like your vids, but got to admit I am not keen on the whole "NO Speaking" & just plenty of facial expressions & sighs??? Rather be honest pal, some may of liked it, but it just not for me. Speak up as it's always good to hear your thoughts & general mindset.
Fair comment. You’re not the first to mention this to me. To the previous chap who said something similar I did promise him I would speak up again at some point, but I found myself getting bored of listening to my own voice in previous films I made and vowed I would only speak when I had something really worthwhile to say. The no-speaking thing isn’t set in stone at this point and I’m sure I’ll feel it is necessary to comment on something at some stage. Thanks for your honesty mate, much appreciated and taken into account. 👍🏼
Your one brave man 🙏 excellent video brilliant filming and sound trac and the time lapse just wow ❤️ thank you 🙏 xxx
Thanks for another lovely comment Heather. Really glad you’re enjoying my films x
That was an excellent video Richie, great music just a wonderful watch.
Thanks.
✌👍🍺

Thanks Andy mate. It was a properly cold trip, but the gear was up to the challenge!
Been looking forward to this video.
Hope it’s worth the wait pal!

Should’ve mentioned that the temperature I measured was inside my vestibule. Definitely colder than that outside with the windchill.
