Tip: it's not labelled on the front panel, but if you hold the Func button whilst moving the rate knob you can lock the LFO to tempo and select the desired subdivisions.
@@giantiri Depends what you mean, all the Volca's have their own quirks and the global menu works similarly from one to the next, I think you can do it with some of the effects like the delay on the keys.
Just followed the instructions, but I also have the Volca Sample so I'm just amazed by the result. (On the sample, just put a dry kick every beat and then a maxed reverb kick every 8 beats)
Masterfully done...one of my faves as a kid in the 80s. I have 4 volcas and I avoided this one because I thought I knew better. How wrong was I. Subbed.
That's really cool. The cutting and whatever was sounding like a delay pedal going wonky is really wild. I have a Monotron Delay and I can sit on the couch making that little go crazy for hours. You really do that little volca justice. Good stuff fren. Subscribed.
Maybe the best explanation of the Bass ever 👏👏👏. Dr Mix is awesome, love his tear down videos too. Plus can’t get better than Dave and Anne ❤. Sweet Dreams dude 😀.
@@Tetrad10 I think we both said we didn’t realise the Bass has 3 independent oscillators. Then they all have their own sequencer too. You got all that clear. Plus it’s the Eurythmics man!
Great idea! I have several other recreations in the works, but I will add it to the list. In the meantime check out @munomamusic who did a great short on this: ua-cam.com/users/shortsJTHhe9VY4eA. He even uses the square LFO as a pulse, which is pretty sweet.
Thanks! Sure, the patch sheet can be downloaded from www.reddit.com/r/volcas/comments/8f8c58/volca_bass_patch_sheet/ and it's also in the video description. As far as the sheets for the song, I can only recommend freezing the video at 2:24, 3:53 and 7:52. Cheers ⚡
Thanks for the clarification, I think I've heard that distinction before. It sure seems polyphonic, though, especially when you add variant sequences, waveforms and active steps - what a ride!
Nice, interesting video! I love these small devices. However, let's once again try to keep it clear and puncture these myth balloons; just because, for instance, the Volca Bass can play more than one note at a time it doesn't mean that it's polyphonic. To be polyphonic one need a filter per voice. The Volva Bass doesn't, hence it's paraphonic. The release stage on a paraphonic synth will "always" be cut off, due to the single filter design. Polyphonic synths has a complete voice for each polyphonic note basically being in need of an oscillator (or more), running through its own filter (VCF in this case) and amp. An eight voice polyphonic synth roughly has got eight complete mono synths stacked together. Keep up the nice work on your channel - it will pay off!
Hahaha... I am such a noob. I struggled at the first pattern when you add notes at position 15 cause i heared something else then the original song ... and then i watch the rest of the video... Omg... 😂😂😂
I think the same reason rappers sample famous beats and sounds and new bands cover a song they like: People access new music through songs and sounds that are familiar to them. I've over two dozen original jams and tracks here, but this is the one that people like the most and probably why you saw it in your feed. At any rate, give the people what they want, huh?
I didn't take this as a cover. He is showing how to get that sound. Once you got it. Go forth and make your own tune. Of course it may be in this style but I imagine it could be very good and something people will hear as "new." As if there is such a thing.
Dude, it’s a tutorial, using a song people know in order to demonstrate the range of the synth’s features. Synthesizers of all types have been in the music business since the late 60s. Musicians use them for all kinds of legitimate, creative purposes.

Pro tip! Thanks!!
AWESOME! Do you know any other " unlabelled " Tips ??

You are welcome, I had a lot of fun doing this.
I have a few more recreations on the way, stay tuned!

Awesome. Did not realize the Volca Bass could do this.
This is awesome. Gonna have to dive deeper into mine when I get home today. The sequencer seems a little deeper than I realized. Thanks!!
Have fun!

The v bass is a great sounding synth, your tutorial is easy to follow and understand. I had no choice but to sub, youre a natural teacher.
Awesome, thank you!
Time to pull out and wipe the dust off the old volca bass. Thank for this tutorial.
Superb tutorial! The Volca Bass is such fun 🙂
Totally agree!
Oh how great is this! I wasn't aware that the three VCOs can be sequenced separately. Very cool feature. And awsonme #tutorial btw 👍
Great stuff
Thank you! Looking for inspiration with my new purchase and this is fantastic.
Nice, glad you like it - the volca bass is tons of fun!

It's not polyphonic. It's paraphonic. 3 VCOs, but only one filter, one LFO, and one VCA envelope to rule them all.

Damn that third oscillator at -12....
Niiiiiiice
wow!
I said the same thing when I worked this out a few months ago - the Bass is an amazing little poly-synth sequencer!

I wish you could hard sync the oscillators on Volca Bass... :(
