- Let me know if I missed anyone or if anybody should be added to the list!
dang, nobody got that soul & voice like Aretha 👌🏽
I love this album so much and the last song Just Right is killing me!!! Love you my Queen Aretha!
She killin the piano too!!!
Such an soul ocean to cross with. For sure one of the ten best songs of Arethas career.
Sound so sweet to my ears beautiful request adding to the list RIP the Queen ❤💯🎼🎵🎶
She’s untouchable.
That was🔥🔥🔥 I've always loved Bobby Womack's version but Aretha put her stamp on it and made it her own. Really enjoyed this Jammin! Great request!
Any song Aretha sang. The voice of America.
This whole album was fire
Great reaction JJ! I saw that someone mentioned "Just Right Tonight"! That is one song that should not be passed up. Billy Preston's piano playing will leave you breathless and Aretha's vocals are otherworldly. There is another song on this album, "Sister From Texas" which Aretha wrote for the illustrious singer Esther Phillips (Aretha also presented Esther Phillips with one of her (Aretha's) Grammys because Aretha felt that Esther's Album was the better album and (in Aretha's opinion) should have won the Grammy that year for Best r&b performance by a female. There is also her very beautiful rendition of the classic Bernstein-Sondheim song "Somewhere" from the musical "West Side Story"! All of these songs are on the "Hey Now Hey" album. Anyway, check them out if you have the time! 🙂
There it is there it is. I've been waiting for someone to write about the "GRAMMY" she gave to Esther and why!!!!
Out
Thank you for this one,I haven’t heard this one since I bought it on 8 track back in the day and it sounds just as good which tells me that Aretha was well ahead of her time, those vocals was “out of this world “much ❤❤❤
That was AWESOME
I've been looking for a reaction to this song for like a year thank you bro
Yeah I heard the original but never Aretha's before.
This album was produced by the great Quincy Jones. Her first album to not hit the Top 25 (pop charts) but I think it went #1 or #2 on the R&B charts. The Jazzy feel to this album didn't cross over to the Pop charts well. Good reaction as usual JJ.
This is the album that the beyond-beautiful song "Angel" is on! And yes! It did go to #1 on the R&B charts.
DAMN!! That hit my soul like a ton of bricks!! DAMN!! 😪🤭
Aye yo- I got so damn excited for a moment seeing your face and this album of Aretha together in a thumbnail.. I thought this was Mister Spain for a moment. Peep THAT! 😩😭😭😭
Mr. Spain, is indeed a beautiful, mysterious, and thought-provoking performance by Aretha! At the time this album was released some people were saying that it was disjointed and non-sensicle. I felt that the album was put together very well considering the title being Hey Now Hey (The Other Side Of The Sky).
That was great!
you should do a reaction to “Master of eyes (the deepness in your eyes)” from this album. great song!
Quincy Jones and Aretha produced this whole album and its another great one tho a bit of a miss on the charts, but still overall a very good album and the production is solid.
Legit like my favorite version of this song. And I grew up on the original. But this whole album is just a symposium on Aretha's musical artistry and vocal prowess. That's her on the background vocals for herself. The range! Quincy Jones was on production if I'm not mistaken. Arguably my favorite album of hers.
This is the WRONG version. You should find the other studio version. Much much better.
