The fix was to replace all the coil packs.

Had the same issue a few times some weeks ago. Only sometimes with an error in motor control, with a hint for a faulty crankshaft/rpm sensor. Seems to be a common problem. Since installing the new sensor, this error never occured again.

I agree, it is more common than people think. I'll be sure to add the crankshaft sensor to my list of checks.

Since changing plugs, coil packs, egr valve and cleaning throttle body i have had no problems....

Excellent, my issue was definitely coil packs. It is a hard thing to pin down.

Nice video, @mrbroonss! Do you mind sharing what equipment you used for this?

This was taken on Go-Pro mounted on the sunroof. I'm glad that you liked the video. All fixed now but was very annoying when it was still happening.

@@mrbroons Glad you got things sorted! The steadiness of the video intrigued me, it was just so smooth.

had similar issues on my 1.4i due to a broken ABS wire. it happens easily when putting on big rims :/

That is very interesting, my one turned out to be Coil packs but hadn't thought about the ABS wire, presume as it also tripped the oil light. Was it obvious when you checked Felix?

@@mrbroons if you mean the coil packs for ignition (i only know the german word zündspulen 😅) mine were covered in oil as my valve cover was very leaky.. as i cleaned them they seemed to work fine again - so i kept them. as the abs wire was "wounded", the error always appeared when the road was wet or the temperature changed rapidly. i guess because of the strong oxidation that took place.

@@mrbroons have you ever changed the crankshaft sealings/ and the crankshaft ventilation/oil seperation module? mine was leaky as hell as well

      Got it. That makes sense.
