To be fair about Cozy Glow, she DID try to COMPLETELY eliminate ALL magic from Equestria, which as a result, would've had a MAJOR impact across all of Equestria, if not the world.
Re: Cozy Glow's punishment... I would use the "it's a kids' show" argument, but not in the way Thespio mentions. It's a reason to give Cozy Glow the exact same punishment as the other villains. You see, adults feel very protective towards children... BUT KIDS DON'T. If Tirek and Chrysalis got petrified and Cozy didn't, all the child viewers would have been very confused, asking "Why did Cozy get away with it? She's a villain too." They would see no reason not to zap Cozy into a statue, just the same as the other two. And since kids are still the primary audience, it's *their* sense of justice that needs to be satisfied, not ours.
In my humble opinion, THIS finale felt more satisfying than that of Star Vs.
I agree. I'll admit I shed some liquid pride at the end of this. I did the same for each season finale.
I also did the same for the end of Gravity Falls.
But the ending of Star..... that series end was kinda..... meh. I mean, erasing the magic, sure whatever, and it's good Star and Marco was able to stay together, but overall it's kinda like.... ehhh.
Let’s be honest. This finale could’ve done nothing and just reformed the Mean 3 under ludicrous circumstances with no time skip to boot and it’d still be a better finale than Star Vs.
I was with you on Cozy Glow, but as someone else had pointed out in another video, she literally tried to commit murder several times in this finale, so tried as an adult. But yes, some backstory would have helped a lot. They didn't 'smash' Storm King's statue. He fell.

All in all, i think the fim series ended on a good note, true the finale may have had it's perfections an flaws like all tv show finales but i personally think it was a fitting way to end the series, although i must admit part of me wonders how the finale would of played out if it was the real Grogar instead of just being Discord in disguise.
As I keep saying I believe that cozy glow is like baby doll from Batman the animated series in the fact she only looks like a child.
In the New Equestria, there were meetings, relationships were built, goodbyes took place, and many became not blood brothers and sisters- just like in the Old Equestria. Because friendship ... friendship never changes.

It is worth to note that Discord did risk his life to make up for it and stayed behind to face the villains without powers where he could have died...so all that being said i can see why they were willing to forgive him

In regards to the whole (paraphrase) "Why don't you smash the statue? You let Sombra and the Storm King die". thing, here's something interesting. The show is rated TV-Y, the lowest rating for a show. While some other shows like The Lion Guard and Elena Of Avalor, which are also rated TV-Y, let characters die, it was usually either for villains or if it was a good guy, that they could be seen again or they weren't too major, not for a child, and they don't overplay it. In The Lion Guard, Kion can see the spirit of his deceased grandfather Mufasa, while Scar and Ushari die in the season 3 premiere, Rani can see the spirits of her deceased parents, and Queen Janna was already of old age before she died. As for Elena, they establish the spirit world, which others can visit if they have powerful enough magic. The show also killed off Shuriki and Alacazar, the former being the original major villain while the latter was killed off by a villain and said he can be seen in the spirit world. MLP has none of that. It doesn't have anyway for characters to contact spirits nor has the show ever directly acknowledged death (something like The Perfect Pear heavily hints at Applejack's parents dying, but never outright says it other than characters talking about them in the past tense), hence why turning to stone is the better option. Also, Sombra was technically a spirit so he was essentially banished to wherever they go to, and The Storm King was accidentally shattered (okay, the movie is rated PG, but they still never directly kill him). There would probably be a huge controversy if a child was killed by the heroes.
Because by killing them, they become worse then the villians, who never actually killed anyone themselves, ironically.
I'm in agreement with Thespio, we know nothing about Cozy Glow's past and motivations. Hopefully they'll reveal something about her backstory in the season 10 comic line.

I didn't mind the twist. I actually kinda figured it would happen due to some of the clues that I've noticed, most prominently their designs being similar to each other (namely the same eye color and same eyebrows) and the ending to "Summer Sun Setback". Also Voice, you actually said a very good point about Discord's plan. Great review guys, I agree that this show has ended on a good note
The last mlp song and the closing of the book just broke me, i had a feeling it would and hearing the song along with the first few notes of the theme along with everything else just made me 😭

The very last episode of the Season hit me extremely hard. About a couple of months ago, news was given to my family that I would have to end up moving out of my home state. As someone who live nearly their entire life in their hometown, it was extremely hard news for me to take. I was especially upset knowing that I would never be able to see any of my friends or close companions. But, and this episode aired. And, now I'm actually accepting that fact a little more. Friendships come and go, but they never really end. Just because you're not near a person who was your friend doesn't mean they will never stop being your friend.
As you stated, this show is not perfect. But I would at least like to say that this show has done a very good job teaching multiple different lessons. My Little Pony generation 4 will always have a place in my heart

To me, when it comes to Sunset Shimmer, she's pretty much unaware of what's going on in equestria, seeing as she and her friends were kinda brought up to speed in examples like Rainbow Rocks (with twilight's title amd castle) and the Spring Breakdown (with the storm king and the events of the movie). Though to be fair, Sunset did know about Starlight in Mirror Magic so I dunno... maybe too immediate? No one really knows about the journal except the mane 6, Spike, Starlight and to some extent Celestia, and all were occupied near the end.
Anyway, I did appreciate the cameo in "the magic of friendship grows" but I wouldn't have minded a "blink and you'll miss it" cameo at the coronation or something

Yeah, the "End of the Ending" jumped a shark when Grogar turned out to be Discord. It would have been better if there had been some sort of consequences for Discord at the end, like his power being taken from him again, and he only gets it back after attending the Friendship school and proving that he finally gets it. "I had the best of intentions" as an excuse just is lame beyond belief. And after he gets it back he has to clean up the mess he made by reforming the now magic free villains. Of course with Fluttershy's help... Apart from that sore point it was a very good ending and it was very good over all. "The Last Problem" had it's good points but it came across like they didn't know how to end it, so they just repeated the opening. Sure, there is something to the "book ends" approach to the endings, but making Twilight into "Purple Celestia" who has to help another unicorn student with a reluctance to make friends just said "We ran out of ideas" far too loudly to be ignored. Oh well, there's always fanfics I suppose.
In my eyes, Grogar was simply a myth; someone who has never actually been seen by other creatures. Even Tirek himself said he only HEARD about him.
In the words of Westley from The Princess Bride, it's the name that inspires the necessary fear. If Discord went to the villains himself and tried to get them to work together, while acting as a double agent (of sorts,) none of the villains would listen to HIM.
But when it comes to a figure like Grogar, there are few who'd question him
@@sadlobster1 I agree, it often is all in the name. Hmm, this might be fertile ground for fanfics though, what if freeing the Bewitching Bell were to awaken, or free, or somehow summon the REAL Grogar?

For all the finale's shining moments... it still bugs me that Discord was so oblivious to the Terrible Trio's plot.
I'm not saying he had to be aware of _everything._ Just enough that his last moments as "Grogar" didn't imply a bunch of massive oversights, likemissing the magical disturbances of the Bewitching Bell, or genuine surprise that Tirek would betray him _a second time._

Didn’t Cozy Glow try to kill multiple ponies on multiple occasions? It was not only due to her power, but her wit. With her wit, she probably would’ve done something similar soon. Also in the premiere, it’s explicitly stated that friendship does give you power. Also, with her intellect, Cozy Glow figured it out sooner.
Here's hoping holiday unwrapped can prove to be on par with the series finale and that josh and arimaus wedding goes spectacularly. thankyou for your entertainment and analysis.

I still like Discord in my opinion
Yeah, whenever Discord something wrong is okay. But when Starlight did something wrong then people start to critic and wish her drop dead or burn dead with lava like Fire Fist Ace form One Piece.
He did make up for it by freeing the Mane 5 and Spike, plus suggesting to turn the villains into stone.
I think the surprise twist should have SOME clues so you see it coming if you are really good at clues. But I also feel Discod's twist was better then the one Mon had in Star Vs in its finally.
Another thing that I think is good to point out is, even if a friendship ends up fading, the time spent together and the experience with those people helps shapes each person, even if in small seemingly inconsequential ways we don't take conscious note of. We learn and grow and change and that doesn't disappear because those same people are no longer in our lives. Sure, it's a bittersweet message but it doesn't make it any less true.

While the show has always encouraged to keep friendships and I agree that is important, I don't think we need to dismiss the the ones we no longer have. Sometimes we still end up separating from others, it doesn't make the memories of them any less important in how it shapes us as individuals so even if the mane 6 never spoke again, the fact that each one had their part in the growth of the others will always be there just as the show has been for everyone that watched it.
I love the fact you said AppleDash may or may not be canon. It's left open to interpretation and I love it.
There is supposedly one more G4 MLP movie in the works it’s going to be 3-D animation, so it’s definitely going to be interesting.
It’s entirely possible that through that The real Grogar may show up.
And when it comes to Cozyglow I think it’s better that they don’t give her a backstory. Let her be just naturally evil. A child that even so young viewed everyone around her as merely somebody to manipulate for her own ends. Because quitesimply if they give her the backstory they leave it open for her to be redeemed. They didn’t give Chrysalis a backstory.
And personally I think her level of threat that she posed even without all powerful magic still made it justifiable that she was turned to stone. If a kid manages to hack into the White House or some other countries government and manage to steal nuclear launch codes chances are good “there just a kid.” is not going to be enough to save them.

Plus there are a plenty unaddressed things regarding the show like when Discord mentioned Tirek's dad or about the real Grogar.
But you can't expect the show or ANY show to tell you everything. Somethings are left in mystery and sometimes you have to imagine what's the possible story behind it. That's why fanfictions exist.
Overall, I did like how the show addressed everything regarding division and unity, hitting the topic hard of how it effects real life.
Pardon me for my personal rant, but I just want to say something. When MLP first aired, I didn't really care all that much. I spent my early days watching G3 and I thought G4 wasn't going to be any different. I thought I was too old for candy colored ponies playing dress up. But then I decided to watch Lunar Eclipsed( the Halloween episode in season 2) simply because of Luna being a princess of the night. Now tell me, during that time, when did any little girl's cartoon have something to do with the night being GOOD? So I watched the episode and I wanted to see more. I went back to the series premiere and watched every single episode since then.
MLP G4 grew up with me. When Twilight became an alicorn Princess, I believe that was the same year I graduated middle school. And now I am in college! Because of this show, I found the Brony fandom. I learned terms like episode, season, premiere, and finale. I was shown so many creations by the fandom and heard different points of view. Yes, this show is NOT perfect, not by a long shot, but it is most certainly in my top 3.
I want to say thank you to those who brought this show to life and was willing make something out it that changed peoples lives. Thank you to the fandom expressing creativity and passion for what the show gave and more.

It still feels weird that the show is over. I was 9 year old girl in elementary school who watched the show along with Winx club on her way to swim practice. Now I am 19 and a freshman in college. It's weird to think that 10 years have gone by. It feels like just yesterday I was on the couch and watched Griffion the Brush Off for the first time. MLP grew up alongside me and as Twilight starts her next chapter I start mine

Their was a line in the season nine opener where Twilight said she would give her castle to Starlight
I really didn’t like how Discord set up Twilight for good intentions. The only reason why he did that is because he wanted to make a fan fiction.
Nah discord is genuinely well intentioned now, he messed up but he has stopped being evil a while ago, he cares for others but hes still a chaotic being who has a different way of helping
If I had to come up with an idea to where we can have our cake and eat it, I would have Discord and Grogar be separate characters, but have Grogar's off screen moments be him planning to take Discord out
and Discord, knowing Grogar is or might be in Equestria is working to help give Twilight the confidence she needs, basically Grogar and Discord are playing chess with each other, but where Discord is trying to prepare Twilight and the others to go win without him, Grogar is treating his pieces as part of himself and when the Trio tries to use the bell against Grogar to drain him, but he saw through them and is instead empowered by his bell and strong arms all of them to assert his dominance.
Grogar sends the three to destroy canterlot like they do in the original, but Grogar goes off screen again, saying he needs to deal with 1 last issue before they can cement their rule.
after the events continue and everyone is captured Grogar reveals himself to everyone and also shows them that he imprisoned Discord within his bell to act as an extra power source for him, this removes Discord from the game and shows that he isn't the only powerful being in Equestria while maintaining Grogar as a threat.
Grogar leaves the group again to go find Twilight and we can have someone else take Discords place with fooling the Trio so the mane 6 members can find twilight.
everything proceeds as normal leading up to the final battle, but this time the Trio are taken a back by Twilight's group and are on the losing end, until Grogar enters and goes full Thanos on everyone, then we get the Cavalry scene and Twilight and the others are empowerd once more showing the Mane 6, The Pillers, and the Student 6 using their powers to defeat Grogar and free Discord from his bell.
and instead of putting the villains to stone, they instead do to them what was done to Discord and seal them in the bell all 4 forever trapped with each other unable to draw power from the bell and left to torment each other and argue.

Considering her actions in the Season 8 finale and her obviously psychologically unstable personality. I'd say that Cozy IS as great of a threat as Tirek, Chrysalis, Sombra and even Discord was.
Sure, she's a child...but she's like Darla Dimple or Baby Doll. Despite her age, her mind is as unruly as a fully-grown sociopath
The real problem with Cozy Glow is that the "kind" of power she has can NOT be "extracted out" to _make her safe_ (like Chaos Pinkie with the Bewitching Bell).
-> She has KNOWLEDGE about both portal_making & arcana_magic draining.
Because Discord summoned all spellbooks in Equestria containing the "Reformation Spell" [S3E10] and destroyed them in a way that can not be reversed (by eating & digesting them, making it part of his chaotic, high entropic biology); PLUS the only known "memory removing" artifact [the Memory Stone] already destroyed... there is no way to prevent her from using it (or passing that knowledge to others free who could, just like Tirek did with her).
-> Ponies believed that Tartarus was secure enough... they were wrong.
Besides... She has the cutiemark talent of deceiving/controling others (Chess: Rook Castling ) & ALSO the "Destiny" of causing major, irreversible, *sudden & unforseen* damage/change to society (Major Arcana: The Tower ).
She simply can not be allowed to *ever again* SPEAK to others (or comunicate in any meaningfull matter), something that would be extremely horrible _unless_ she is also *prevented* from thinking & living at the same time [ without her "new status" being permanent & irreversible, ponies are not MONSTERS ].

Sure, these are just speculations and fan interpretations and analyses, but still...
Staying a friend is possible but some don't. Ive heard some sad heart-wrenching stories about moving on to the next phase of their life and the other friend is left holding the bag.
The Discord twist, and contined imprisonment of Cozy Glow in a very cruel fate, ruined these episodes for me. Discord gets away with *EVERYTHING,* in every episode! If he ever lost the *ONE* person he cared for(Who outside of magic will *DIE OF OLD AGE* ), he could easily become an OP Psychopath again! Yet when a *LITERAL CHILD* does fucked up things and doesn't regret their choices, they are considered bad enough to be spent to *HELL without TRIAL!*
This just shows the main characters *ONLY* care about reforming characters who are either *REALLY USEFUL* to them, *TOO DANGEROUS* to leave without a moral chain, or who have the power of being the Author's Pet. Sometimes children just need guidance, enforced rules, and threapy, to become decent people.
All the Mane Six also get away with every crime or incident they did, because they are *TOO USEFUL* to loose. Never thought a show I grew up loving, could make me develop such a cynical and negative outlook on it's setting.

The way I see it, the idea of a kid like Cozy Glow being a villain doesn't really bother me.
Look at names like William Bonney (Billy the Kid,) he was sixteen during his time as a criminal and later got killed like an adult one

I think maybe the finale coulda been done better. Like maybe have grogar be real all along but let him think the villains outsmarted him so he could let them do all the hard work and later, he could re emerge from the bell and use his true power to fight the ponies. The finale Could’ve benefited from an extra episode, but that’s just my opinion.
Twilight = the dim sunlight at the end of the day. Dawn = the dim sunlight at the beginning of the day. Sparkle and luster are synonymous words. Twilight begins the series in Canterlot and comes full circle by moving back there for the series finale. Twilight reunited Celestia and Luna as sisters, the same way twilight unites day and night. Twilight initially didn't think too much of friendship at the start of the series, the same way Luster Dawn viewed friendship in the finale. The show ends with Twilight passing the torch of learning about friendship to pretty much a reincarnation of her former self.
Am I the only one thinking grown-up Twilight looks slightly like a Celestia recolor?

Hey grown adult woman like it too.
My father often sees the stuff I watch, Friendship is Magic included, and not only does he proclaim it all to be "garbage." But he also stubbornly states how HIS generation of cartoons were "better" than mine.
Don't get me wrong; I LOVE me some Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, Scooby-Doo, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Tex Avery Cartoons, Peabody & Sherman, Mr. Magoo and even the classic Hanna-Barbara cartoon characters (especially them.)
But the thing is...our parents generation of animation could NEVER tackle the kind of themes that our generation's cartoons often speak about. Heck, anytime Bugs Bunny is supposedly killed on-screen (like in What's Opera, Doc;) he recovers, seconds later and makes a snappy wisecrack.
But in stuff like Steven Universe, Gravity Falls...even classics like Hey Arnold; you have episodes dealing with emotional issues, relationship problems and even the idea of death.
Don't get me wrong...we DO have some REAL garbage shows like Titans Go, Breadwinners, the Powerpuff Girls reboot and even the upcoming Thundercats Roar. But the good FAAAR outweigh the bad

On the subject of Cozy Glow. Have you considered that she's not a child, but a full grown pony who had a stunted growth? Basically she's around the same age as Twilight and her friends, but she's physically the size of a filly.
And to be fair, even if Cozy Glow did have parents, and they did find out about their daughter's imprisonment in both Tartarus, and in Stone, I'm sure there is the fact to consider that Celestia and Luna have the power to move celestial bodies across the heavens, so, trying to face them in a rage fit would most likely not end in their favor, and there's also the fact that both Celestia and Luna are over 1000 years of age, and while Luna may have been imprisoned on the Moon, Celestia has more than enough knowledge to be in the right to make the decisions she made, and not be argued with about it. Plus, royalty can be an intimidating factor on the common folk.

Sooooo...... went back to watch that part about Cozy Glow "Claiming" she was a kid, and yeah, while some could argue that confirms she's just a filly around the age of the CMC, well, the way she said it, has me questioning that she really is a kid. And something to kind of back up my argument, is the episode "The Washouts", with the character, Short Fuze. He's no taller than Scootaloo is, in fact, I think he's shorter, and he was at the Wonder Bolt's Academy before he was kicked out. So yeah, I think that Cozy Glow might be a "Miniature" pony, around the same age as the Mane Herd, give or take a year or 2.

That would be like removing ALL ELECTRICITY from ever existing in the real world, because in Equestria, magic literally runs most all their everything. Hope you like sending Equestria to a Pre-Industrial age. maybe they'll figure out how to use steam power to make mechanical energy to do stuff, because YOU DON'T GET EASY MODE ANYMORE!
