In my opinion, Celestia and Luna definitely needed the vacation they took in this episode, because even though they put their plans for retirement and what not on hold, the sisters don't know anything about living a normal civilian life therefore this vacation was a good opportunity for them to gain experience with civilian life...and now they can use that experience for when they retire at series. And i suppose to a small extent, it was also a good opportunity for Twilight and friends to learn how ruling Equestria works...and we all saw how that turned out in the end.XD
I actually have the theory that there was more to this than meets the eye. The way Celestia brought up they needed somebody to take over while they were on vacation and the swan thing seemed so pointless it makes me think that they purposely went overboard in the beginning to set everything up. I believe that they panned the entire thing to teach twilight and her friends how to handle being in charge. And if they happened to get a vacation while teaching the lesson, well that just happens to be a bonus. lol
I can only imagine the fun Nicole and Tabitha had with this episode. ^3^ Fave episode of Season 9 so far! ^w^ Also, during the argument scene between Tia and Luna, did anyone else notice how Luna's mane looked like Nightmare Moon's Mane momentarily? >w>;
There's not a confirmed name for episode 14, but according to MLP Wiki, the next episode is the one with the return of "Weird Al" Yankovic as Cheese Sandwich.
You seemed to have forgotten one particular throwaway scene near the end with Celestia where she is clinging to the branch of a tree shaking in fear... because of a Chicken. There is a theory that I came up with that Celestia is actually afraid of being *trapped* because of a time when she was still a filly and had ran "Afowl" of a Cockatrice that managed to petrify her, unable to move, talk or do anything, and it was only thanks to Luna that Celly was freed. Over the course of the series' in-universe 2 year timeline: the events have managed to cause Celestias' fear to relapse with a vengeance: Stuck inside of the Sun in _Friendship is Magic_ , unable to escape Canterlot in _Return of Harmony_ , both instances where she is cocooned by Chrysalis, the Plunder Vine incident, being chained down inside of Tartarus by Tirek, and need I talk any further about what happened to her in the 2017 movie? I can see why she had secluded herself and wasn't willing to fight because of her being paralyzed by her Cleithrophobia, and why it is right now she is wanting to try and abdicate. People make stupid and irrational decisions when they are scared.
9:38 - Why would *that* have ever happened? Just because these two sisters showed the imperfections of their relationship when the show started giving them more focus as sisters than princesses? I don't get it.
I loved the moment with Luna gushing at the bats! Now I can stop thinking of her and Fluttershy working together because something is bothering the Ursa Bears and other constellations!
Many may not like this but part of me love seeing this. Seeing another side and even expanding on the Royal Sisters. There are flaws of course, but we can all agree that no matter how powerful or royal they are, Celestia and Luna are just ponies just like every pony else. With Friendship is Magic bearing its end, this episode with the sisters was a must. Plus I think the shooting star was a little nod to Snowdrop.
I call it a solid episode. 4 out of 5 stars. I would’ve liked it more but my problems other than what u said, are that They RUINED Fancy Pants as the only likeable resident in Canterlot. He feels like the opposite. And also the ending felt a bit abrupt. But I will say the song “lotta little things” is so far my favorite song of the season.
Honestly, I didn't like this episode that much. I mean, I'm okay with the princesses being a bit goofy at times, but they were just WAY TOO goofy in this episode. I mean, Celestia being afraid of chickens? Seriously? Plus, how would you feel being an opera singer like Ponyliacci with the ruler of your country watching your performance, not knowing that she secretly hates your singing? Ouch, dude.
1. Twilight is afraid of quesadillas because they’re cheesy. Celestia not liking chickens isn’t the weirdest thing we’ve seen. 2. 1 person’s disapproval shouldn’t matter if 99.99% of my audience express gratitude and applause towards it.
I will say this, I am liking S9, but I am not loving it yet. At least it's been consistent and I've only disliked 1 episode (Point of No Return). This episode for me was good but not great, only because of the fact on how predictable the episode was and how similar it was to other episodes when it comes to the moral. But yeah there was a lot of good humor in here.
Wow... I overlooked that quite from when I watched this originally, but WOW! This makes them more lazy than the show accidentally making them incompetent. And I'm reminded of what Celestia had said to Spike in the Friends Forever No 3 comic, I'll quote a couple of lines here: *Spike:* _They've defeated manticores, changelings, adult dragons, teen dragons, hydras, nightmares, bad manners... I'm just a sidekick. _ *Princess Celestia:* _I know. I feel the same way._ *Spike:* _You- You do? But you're a princess! _ *Princess Celestia:* _Yes, I am. But princesses are not usually adventurers. Sometimes I wish I could join them, but... Well, a princess has duties of her own. Besides, I've always been more of a teacher than an adventurer. And there's nothing a teacher wants more than a student who surpasses her._ *Spike:* _All those monsters and villains that Twilight had to overcome... Could you have stopped them instead?_ *Princess Celestia:* _...Yes. Many of them. As you said, Spike, I am very powerful, and there are many things I can do. And yes, sometimes I have let Twilight take care of an incident that I could have cleared away easily. But I do not do this because I am cruel, or because I want to play a joke on Twilight... I do this because I am her teacher, and sometimes, this is how she must learn._ This was the Celestia I thought of when I saw her in the show, she knows what she's capable of, but she needs to show Twilight that she doesn't need her to help with every little thing that happens in Equestria. Now compare that to this dialogue from the episode: *Princess Celestia:* _To be honest, we've recently realized we like being part of the action. _ *Princess Luna:* _Experiencing life instead of just dreaming about it. _ *Princess Celestia:* _And making a difference outside the throne room._ This right here? This sounds more like a midlife crisis, FROM both of them! And it's going against her teacher role. Oh what's that? Your bored? What to do more for ponies? YOU HAVE A CITY- neigh- FUCKING KINGDOM! FOCUS ON THAT MORE SINCE THAT WAS ALSO ATTACKED! Oh and what the fuck happened to Fancy Pants?! When he did he turn into another Upperclass twat from Canterlot?! Couldn't of this role gone to anyone else in Canterlot? Like Raven? You know? Celestia's aide?! Urghhh... Rant over.
The idea of Cozy, Tirek and Chrysalis joining the winning side so that they could fight Grogar AND THEN NIGHTMARE MOONS RETURN ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE would have been AMAZING!!! Instead... we got the Ending of the End. WHICH WAS UTTER AND COMPLETE GARBAGE!
Hasn’t Twilight been delighting everything at their school? We’ve never seen her try to run the school by herself. This is my problem with the side plot. It turns Twilight into an idiot.
I believe Grogar will corrupt Luna and Celestia and turn them evil. He said he created terrible monsters in the past, so who says he cannot corrupt ponies and turn them into monsters!
I really don't like what's happened to Celestia in recent seasons. I get that people want her to have more personality (for some reason), but stuff like this and Horse Play push it way too far. The reason outbursts of personality worked before was because they weren't common. It was surprising to see her enjoy the Gala in The Best Night Ever because we haven't seen that side of her before. But by now, nothing Celestia does is surprising. All that's left is an underlying feeling that this behavior doesn't fit this character. And that's part of what ruins this episode for me. It's just one big reminder of how far this character has fallen. I don't really have as much of a problem with Luna since she has shown her more enthusiastic side since Luna Eclipsed, but she's not nearly as good here as she was there. Another thing that ruins this episode is how boring it is. This episode seems to think that just having Celestia and Luna be really enthusiastic and over the top is enough to be entertaining. But it's not. Just having Celestia scream "Zipline" and then make a wacky face is not enough. There are a few funny moments like Luna wanting to go to the Post Office, but even then it's not that funny. The actual story behind all of that is way too reminiscent of Road to Friendship. There are differences, but not enough to distract me from the feeling that I should just watch that episode instead. Celestia and Luna's falling out is fine, but it's nothing new for this show and certainly doesn't help. As for the stuff with Twilight and the others, it makes no sense. It's supposed to be a part of the arc with the mane six preparing to lead Equestria, but it's pointless because Twilight should know about delegating already. She was Celestia's student for a long time so I think it's reasonable to assume that Twilight knows a bit about what Celestia does. Even looking at it as a comedy it fails. Characters panic. That's it. I like some of the absurdity with this random ceremony, but it's not pushed far enough to be funny and the joke is more about the characters panicking.
Tonya Alleyne I said that the first part tipped me off, it’s was because of the princesses going to far with saving ponies, the “savings” weren’t even dire and needing the princesses help.
I have pretty much the same sentiments towards this episode, except that I actually thought all the clunky inconsistencies and predictabilities in the writing got in the way enough for me not to thoroughly enjoy this as everyone else did. While Celestia and Luna were funny and relatable in this, their plot in this episode is just so cliched and exhausted, and you know everything that's going to happen. I can be a little forgiving to their story, though, since they did make it rather entertaining to watch. And I'm sorry, but I absolutely HATED Twilight in this, as she made what I have to say is the DUMBEST decision she's ever made in the show so far, with rejecting Fancy Pants' help, claiming that she wants to do things just like Celestia and Luna, independently. Um, Twilight. Do you even KNOW Celestia and Luna anymore? Have you not remembered a single instance where the Princesses needed help...like on EVERY occasion?? And then when she learns about how the Princesses actually have needed help with things, it comes across as a shock to her?? WHY? I'm sorry, but Twilight continues to be my least favorite of the Mane 6, and this episode reminded me why.
AeroRanger100 the reason why they didn’t ask fancy pants for help because he was a jerk he asked twilight for help for the party but he lied to them that they need delegates to help with the party he just wanted to see twilight fail
I didn't laugh a single time in this episode. None of the humor is actually funny. They just broke a lot of thing about Celestia, Luna and Twilight character for unfunny humor.
Secret Moon what did you think about episode 14,15,16,17,and 18 now I don’t know if you watched them or not because aparently they got aired from China but if you did watched them did you like them or not
This episode made Princesses look even less competent and even more stupid than IDW comics did. I guess that how they will be remembered when the show ends.
You do realize that this is a cartoon show for kids first and bronies last? Please tell me you guys knew that Hasbro don't really care about the lore, back story and continuity. Please tell me you guys are not taking this show or for that matter this episode seriously.
What does a cartoon show being for kids first have to do with caring for lore, backstories and continuity? Doesn't that make it a good show if the creators/showrunners actually care about continuity?
In my opinion, Celestia and Luna definitely needed the vacation they took in this episode, because even though they put their plans for retirement and what not on hold, the sisters don't know anything about living a normal civilian life therefore this vacation was a good opportunity for them to gain experience with civilian life...and now they can use that experience for when they retire at series.

"ZIIIIIP LIIIIIIIIIINE!" - Princess Celestia. Love that line! 😂
I can just wonder what Firebrand would think, when he hears his favorite pony/princess say that.
Part of me thinks he'll try to take Aramau zip-lining
Blandy McBarbiehorse 🤣🤣🤣
Well done, Thespio! I hope someone actually shows that little rant to DWK. He might get a kick out of it.
This episode has Josh's name written all over it.
Something tells me he's going to go wild, when he watches this

Yeesh. Shots fired at Cadence. I don't much care for her, but I don't think she's that awful.
Candence deserves all the hate! Ever since three's a crowd she's become stupid!

Again, I feel like we could have had this episode several seasons ago. Also, the princesses in Hawaiian shirts. Never expected it, but YES.
9:38 - Why would *that* have ever happened? Just because these two sisters showed the imperfections of their relationship when the show started giving them more focus as sisters than princesses? I don't get it.
I loved it , but didn't anyone else notice that Celestia didn't like Wicked even though in Horse Play she says she loves theater.
I loved the moment with Luna gushing at the bats! Now I can stop thinking of her and Fluttershy working together because something is bothering the Ursa Bears and other constellations!

Love this episode
