Bootsy played with James Brown's band, then with Parliament/Funkadelic. One of the greatest bass players of all-time along with James Jamerson.
edit- Check out his#1 R&B hit "Bootzilla" !!! He plays bass and drums on it.
I thought he sounded like Parliament and then I thought of Foxy 😂. I never heard of this song, I thought I heard almost everything, I guess I haven't LoL.
Bootsy's brother also played guitar for James Brown for 3 years, I think...
Bootsy is the bass player in that awesome Dee Lite video for "Groove is in the Heart" that y'all (and me!") love so much.
He’s everywhere! Even now.
@@brynneholt1990 and how wonderfulll; is that for the world?! 😉
He doesn't play bass on that tune, it's a sample, he only does some vocals
Bootsy is the godfather of funky bass. He has played with almost everyone. You saw him with the Funkadelics. ☮💚🎶
You two have already seen Bootsy Collins. He was in the video for Dee-lite...Groove is in the Heart.
Bootsy Collins was one of the original funk musicians.
Bootsy Collins used to play for James Brown, he and his brothers were known as the pacesetters.
This is the great Bootsy Collins....Iconic bassist and member of Parliament Funkadelic. George Clinton's wingman and at time co-songwriter. What you are hearing is some sick a$$ bass and Bootsy's laidback, too cool vocals on the verse. This is a CLASSIC funk joint. Booty's solo stuff is elite, but also check him out on "P. Funk (Wants to Get Funked Up)" and "Mothership Connection (Star Child)." His bass licks are all over those records.....He also appeared on Dee-Lite's "Groove Is In The Heart".
Munchies for Your Love - Bootsy Collins
Its psychedelic funk at its finest.
We need some ‘Hot Chocolate’ on a cold winter night!
Can’t believe we haven’t reacted on em’ yet!
Hot Chocolate, a disco era Britain band, has many hits in Britain and America!
‘You Sexy Thing’ #3 American Billboard Top
‘Every1’s a Winner’ #6
‘Emma’ #8
‘So You Win Again’ #1
…and more!
Bootsy Collins named the duo of Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars, Silk Sonic. They have a retro vibe, 70's soul and funk. He's the narrator on their album, 'An Evening With Silk Sonic'. Bootsy is featured on their song, 'After Last Night'.
Bootsy also gave baby face his name also
An awesome track that Amber & Jay would love, I think
Thank you for reviewing and digging one of Bootsy's FUNKIEST jams! His bass playing is the REAL DEAL! 😊🎸🎶👏🏾🎤🎹🥁
Bootsy Collins slaps the bass like some delirious, funky priest.
Bootsy co-wrote P-Funk's "Flashlight". He's probably the most famous funk bass player, ever, and from right here in Cincinnati, OH.
#513
Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame member as part of the Parliment/Funkadelic group... and the bass player in "Groove Is In The Heart"... worked with Fatboy Slim... fantastic musician!
My wife and I waited the whole song to see your faces on the last line of the song. It was priceless lol😅
YES!! I was hoping the song wouldn't cut off before that line! 🤣🤣
YES!! I was hoping the song wouldn't cut off before that line! 🤣🤣
“I’m mon stick my love in your eye, baby.” 😢 🤣😂🤣😂
Bootsy is a Cincy born legend, huge Bengals fan, and a member of James Brown Band,Pfunk, and Deelite!
In October 2005, Collins co-wrote a song celebrating the resurgence of his hometown team, the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League called "Fear Da Tiger" which features "raps" written and performed by several Bengals players, including defensive end Duane Clemons, offensive tackle Stacy Andrews, and center Ben Wilkerson.
There is a museum type music thing where it's an interactive video screen where you take video with Bootsy in it. Cool as hell.😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Bootsy Collins as a kid was the bass player for James Brown and also in James Brown's band was Bootsy's older brother Catfish Collins on guitar. Must of been some funky times around the Collins house with Bootsy and Catfish.
Bootsy is a legend. Great bass player, loved him with Deelite
Oh hell yeah. Gotta love Bootsy
It’s a groove. One of my all-time favorite songs.
The Funkadelic King!! Bootsie Collins! I loved this guy as a teenager!!!!
Praise Be! finally got to Bootsy. Next up is Bootzilla or Pinocchio Theory. BTW Jay, Bootsy wrote and performed the Cincinnati Bengals theme song "Fear Da Tiger"
Bootsy put the F in funk. That bass is so funky l can smell it from here.
Boots is a very approachable, down-to-earth brother!
I think this was sampled in "Adina Howard - Freak Like Me", good song (both😊)
Sure was. They should totally react to that one!
Bootsy Collins is also one of the kindest, sweetest, most generous of spirits ❤️😇
Everything he does is about “The One” 🙏🏾😌
I’ve been a fan/follower of Bootsy ( & Peppermint Pattie) since 1978🤩
Bootsy did that epic bass line for Flashlight. I heard he used four MOOG synthesizers but I can't remember stuff right anymmore so I no longer consider myself a reliable source. He's also in that awesome video; Groove is is the Heart. He's his own brand of awesome talent unconfined to the mainstream.
That was actually Bernie Worrell that did the Moog bass on Flashlight. Loved seeing Bootsy in that Delight video.
Lol! See? I told you I was an unreliable source! I LOVE an epic bassline though. Like that one and I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down by Paul Young. Give it a listen if you feel like it. IT is EPIC!

Bootsy is awesome! From James Brown to Parliament to his solo stuff, he's the reason I picked up the bass guitar.
Bootsy and his brother Catfish Collins started their journey of FUNK with The Godfather of Soul, James Brown. It is there where they went to school and perfected FUNK and later expressed themselves with Parliament Funkadelic through George Clinton. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Collins at Columbia College Chicago years ago when he was a visiting artist in the Music Department. This brother is an unspoken GENIUS! He is so smart and laid back, very knowledgeable of the Business of Music and an incredible Musician!!!!
You saw him in the groove is in the heart video
You cannot listen to Bootsy without listening to "Bootzilla!"
That's what I'm talking about . All his songs albums are legendary off the hook .
I hadn’t heard this song before but, I’d have immediately recognized that it was Bootsy. He has a sound and a style all his own.
One of the best examples of this kind of heavy, slow, sexy seventies funk is Stevie Wonder's "Maybe Your Baby" from 1972. Sly and the Family Stone's "Thank You For Talking to Me, Africa" from 1971 is also great.
Bootsy puts the astroglide into your stride and he puts the funky space bass all up in your face!
Aaaand this!!! - is why Funk is pretty much my all-time #1 genre of music - along with Roots Reggae. On the ONE!!!....
Haven't heard this before. Very cool. Going on my playlist.
You heard Mr. Bootsy once when you reacted to "Groove Is In the Heart" by Deee-Lite. But NOW, you have GOT to check him out with Fatboy Slim doing "Weapon Of Choice." And please react to the video featuring Christopher Walken. It's truly one of the best videos ever and the song is pretty awesome.
Don't know why more people don't react to that video.
@@tamcon72 right? It's just so perfect. I watched it again tonight and it always makes me happy.
Bootsy and his Rubber Band spun off from Parliament Funkadelic. He's one of the masters of funk. His latest thing was his collaboration with Dee-Lite GROOVE IS IN THE HEART. You need to react to that.
This song I'D RATHER BE WITH YOU was sampled heavily in West Coast rap.
As mentioned, Bootsy played with James Brown and with the P-Funk Collective (Parliament, Funkadelic, P-Funk All-Stars, etc.). He came up with the name for Anderson Paik and Bruno Mars' "Soul Sonic" You may recognize him from the Dee-Lite video for :Groove is in the Heart" that you loved. He's the guy at the end of the video who said "Dee-Lite likes to smoke... ...onstage." Small world...
Bootsy is more a bass player, than a singer. You really need the visual element to appreciate his style. There are some live videos of Stretchin' Out I would suggest checking out
Cincy proud❤😂Bootsy❤❤😂😂
Bootsy Collins is a Funk Music Legend.....
Loving this groove Amber and J ❤😊
Oh...this is a Soul/Funk classic!🤩
Bootsy Collins, one of the best !
Happy Monday Guy's, Great Reaction To This Great Classic Song 👍
"The Bertha Butt Boogie" is a 1975 song by the Jimmy Castor Bunch. It achieved a No. 16 placing on the US pop chart and reached No. 22 on the US R&B chart.
Doing Cincinnati proud. Bootsy is a Cincy boy, born and raised. Still makes lots of celebrity appearances at events here in the 'Nati.
One of the legends in funk.
BOOSTY!!! Part of the Parliament/ Funkadelic family Thang. My first child was conceived to this song New Years Eve. I named him after BOOSTY"s altered ego Casper. If you want a real groove check out his live prefromance. That's BOOSTY on his Space Bass.
In the 1976 live performance video of this song, Bootsy takes that little bit of nasty heard at the end of this recording and just...well. I remember getting my first real stereo system and wearing out "Bootsy? Player of the Year" by Bootsy's Rubber Band.
Omg. I ❤ this song. When I was a kid I heard a parody on the radio.. it was a little dirty.. radio said question mark asylum but I’ve never found it. I LOVE funk. So happy to hear this.
This song is still in my regular rotation⭐️⭐️
Bootsy IS funk 💯
Damn I’ll always remember my homie pops bumping this in his low rider. A Cali Classic
Bootsy is the best! He was everywhere back in the day, worked with a l ot of great people & is a total legend. Was in Parliament/Funkadelic. This is more slow but he's got a lot of funky wild stuff, too. Just a positive guy.
One of my favorite songs...
Thanks for this! I've loved this song forever.
A bass player supreme !
7:04 - ROTFLMBO!! Y'all's reaction to that last line - PRICELESS. 😂🤣
Bootsy makes a cameo at the end of Eazy-E’s “We Want Eazy”, which is his cover of Bootsy’s “We Want Bootsy”.
Come forward in time and try nearly anything off of his "the one giveth, the count taketh away" album, and see if you can stay still in your seat.
Personal favorites, "rag poppin'", "landshark", "so nice you name him twice".
He played on ALL the early Motown records from the 60's. He also played upright base in the 50's
Saw him live he’s awesome lots of energy
Bootsy was a huge fan of Sly Stone , So was George Clinton .You can hear Sly's influence in their music.
I first heard Bootsy Collins in 1976... His bass playing was interesting....
Oh yeah! Bootsy in the house. Now we’re talkin funk. 👍🏻
I couldn't tell you how many times I heard this song before I found out it was originally by Bootsy Collins. Many of those times it was another version by the band Mtume; only recently did I find out that version was a remake. You've heard Bootsy on James Brown/JBs songs, and P-Funk songs.
People has made this their first dance at weddings
Hey guys, you want funk? You gotta go with George Clinton's "Atomic Dog". George was the founder/leader of Parliament Funkadelic!
BOOTSY!!! YAY!!! SO GOOD!! Very Talented Guy! THANKS for listening to THIS ONE!! :)
Munchies for Your Love and Telephone Bill are 2 more slow jamz from the great Bootsy Collins.
In an interview by sax-player Dave Sanborn, Bootsy talked about being hired out of a James-Brown-cover-band, by the Master himself .... his first night playing behind JB, Bootsy found himself thinking "He look just like June-bug!!!!"
THE JIMMY CASTOR BUNCH - " IT'S JUST BEGUN " 💯 FUNK 70s featured in the Breakdancing scene from the " Flashdance " movie back in 1983 it's super groovy and super funky.
Straight out of Cincinnati Ohio! So much funk came out of Ohio, especially Dayton
Nice shirt, J! I’m a Jeep girl all the way….lifted and bad ass! Love all that you and Amber deliver to us on the daily✌🏾🙋🏾♀️
The funkiest song all time Sly and the Family Stone's " Thank You ". That was the first time the slap bass was used for funk
Not only was he part of Dee-lite and Parliament. But The Tom Tom club mentions him in "Genius of Love."
Bootsy is a great guy!
This is sampled by “freak like me” by adina howard😉
😂😂you don’t have questions…you know what that last line meant😂
Bootsy 4ever ❤️
Now this right here is a banger yes yes yes
Jay, I thought you’d like this guy. He’s a seriously cookie character but he is also a brilliant Bass Guitar player. Those strange sounds you commented on (6:02) is Bootsy playing the bass through some sort of distortion pedal, a whammy pedal, a twin delay pedal or some other strange guitar effects pedal. This Man was born with Funk in his bones.
Got to love bootsy, still got the original vinyl😊
Bootsy Collins played with everyone before going on his own also check out Johnny Guitar Watson
I’m surprised you didn’t listen to Fear Da Tiger!! Bootsy is from Cincinnati and a huge Bengals fan!! WhoDey! Now watch the Elvis movie already!!!
It's Bootzilla, Baby!!
You need to listen to Munchies for Your Love, What's a Telephone Bill, Hollywood Squares, and Bootzilla, all great Bootsie. The background singer is Bernie Worrell, who also pioneered the use of synths in funk. The whole collective that came out of James brown and George Clinton's backing bands made great contributions to funk, hip hop, jazz, and dance music in general.
Bootsy is amazing. I feel a gangsta rap sampling comin´:D
I really enjoyed your reaction to my teenage crush!!🤣
He's known around Cincinnati for a lot of charity work good guy
I met him at a charity event at the Children's Home of Cincinnati a number of years ago
BOOTSY!!!!
Love the reation. Your next Bootsy song should be "What's A Telephone Bill"
Aye YO!!!!! Bootsy a freak babaaaay!!!!!
This was on the soundtrack of the movie Baby Boy with Tyrese.
Love bootsy
Bootsy Collins, Streaching out live version has something for both of you, enjoy.
I second a live version of Stretchin’ Out! So good!
Bootsy Collins is one of the greatest bassists of all time and got his start with James Brown then joined George Clinton and became a significant part of GC's bands Parliament/Funkadelic aka P-Funk. Just fyi, Eddie Murphy will portray George Clinton in Clinton's upcoming biopic. This is my fave Bootsy song and I still listen to it.
