"Thighs High (Grip Your Hips and Move)" and "Secret Fantasy" are two to hear by Tom. Since you enjoy Toni she had a solo Funk Jam called "(Ooh) I Like The Way it Feels". It's so Funky in its own right that you two would just love and will not be still in your seats. You must hear it along with more Tom Browne. By the way they are singing about Jamaica N.Y. a neighborhood in Queens N.Y.. Tom was born in Queens and Toni Smith was born in The Bronx. Tom and Toni also both wrote this classic together.

Absolutely loved your reaction to "Jamaican Funk" by Tom Browne! This track is such a gem, and your excitement brought back tears of nostalgia for me. The song itself is a quintessential piece of the early UK 80s funk and jazz scene, blending smooth grooves with that infectious rhythm that makes you want to move. Tom Browne was inspired by the vibrant sounds and experiences for them of a place called Jamaica, in Queens, New York City's music scene, which truly shines through in this track. I was only 9 years old when it was released in the UK, but I vividly remember laying down some moves whenever my older brother played the vinyl record - which I still have today! It’s amazing how, even after all these years, this track can still fill a dance floor at any club or party. Thanks for the fantastic reaction, Rob Squad! Keep the great vibes coming! x

Marcus is also from Jamaica Queens and is still very active in the music industry. The keyboard player was, Bernard Wright, also from Jamaica Queens. Some popular songs from the same time period that sound great with this 1979 song are "Stuff Like That" by Quincy Jones, "Some Love" by Chaka Khan, "Bustin' Loose" by Chuck Brown and the Soulsearchers, all from 1978, and "Reach For It" by George Duke from 1977.

Loved that reaction! If you loved that one, I'm sure you'll also dig Reach For It, by George Duke like some other commenters have suggested. Funky, with the fun, lively banter ... but also features an ICONIC bass solo!! You guys gotta do that one soon.🤩🎸🎹

    J and Amber,
When this song came out, in the late 70's, it became an instant, funk, classic! This song is a mainstay at family picnics and barbecues. 🙂

    Wow!.. what a vibe!
Mind if I share a quick story with you?.. I was literally on the dance floor in Philadelphia, PA, when I first heard this song : one song was phasing out, and then came that blast of the trumpet, followed by that funky bass line ... wow - or as we used to say in the 60's, "gruu-vee"!
All of us folks on the dance floor seemed mesmerized by the groove!
Curious, how some songs will immediately transport one to a specific time, and place, and memory ...
