Beautiful painting! I am so disappointed to learn some of your items were stolen from where your bike was parked. That makes me feel so sad. If I ever get to go to Amsterdam, I'll watch out for those seagull ninjas! Here in Florida, we have ninjas that are disguised as alligators! They are VERY VERY fast, Aki! They scare me terribly. -Molly
when i taught english in Akita shi Akita ken (largest city in that northern prefecture) i would immediately plop my backpack down at the front door of the grocery store, dept store what hav u knowing it would still be there when i returned from not having to lug it around,; always warmed my heart.... Also dont hav to lock ur bike up, it will not be stolen in a world where high-trust society has all but vanished from the west, shout out to Japan for keeping culture homogeneity 💖 Gr8 vid, domo arigato, kiotsukete Be prepared for authentic Italian pizza to hold a small blob of cheese in the middle under 1 anchovy 🤣🤣🤣 js, shout out to the Italians !
Aye. I'm from Florida, US visiting Japan/Korea for a few months and oh my god... the level of security and safety here is insane... don't take me back man... don't take me back...
Japanese culture is for Japanese. As foreigner, it's a strong learning curve, and they do not take the general western ideals of "stealing" by our wonderful diversity imports since the 19th century, as something to be hand waggled away. Because they don't want to destroy their culture and heritage.
I've seen people leave their phone and wallet lying on the table when they used the restroom in Tokyo, it's pretty normal there. But yeah, I would never do that her in Amsterdam, I never leave my bike unattended without locking it.
As a Dutch person, I enjoyed this! Nice job. About rare Japanese products: They are available here I think mostly because there is a Japanese expat community living in Amsterdam hence they want/can afford high quality Japanese products. The Dutch "ninjas" also take icecreams! This happens mostly close to the seaside though ;)
What a beautiful video you made about your experience in our country!🇳🇱 I’m so happy it made nice memories for you! And you included our picture too! Wow! Thank you so much! We feel honoured and forever treasured to have met you! ❤
Thank you for this video! 😊 My Father was born and raised in Leiden. I even switched back to my original last name. I have been to visit the Netherlands myself and have seen with relatives there, that I have some Dutch traits. I am happy that I've found your channel which started through a connection of a love of matcha, an interest in other cultures, as well as minimalism.
Hello Akisan. I'm glad you liked my country. You can get a lot of things from all over the world here, but some things are hard to find and you can only get at speciality stores. Usually I can find what I'm looking for. I'll be traveling to Japan again by the end of March. I hope to welcome you when you come back to the Netherlands.
Glad you enjoyed you stay in our little country. Good to see my country left a mostly good impression. Yeah.. Don't leave you things unattended outside. Especially in big cities. Things get stolen faster than you can blink. It's not so bad in the Dutch countryside but anywhere else it get stolen from under you. I love the Japanese market in Leiden. I've been there several times, as I live 15 minutes from the city.
it all depends where, i could leave my stuff in my own street for weeks and nobody would steal it, leave it outside a cheap hotel or bnb with tourists and it will gone in 60 seconds born in amsterdam and never had my stuff stolen, i dont need to always lock my bike because i can spot the 'dangerzones', as a tourists you dont have this 6th sense and need to keep your belongings closer

I never considered us as graceful in my country, but thank you for the positive video! If you read this and ever consider going back to the Netherlands, try visiting the very south too, near Belgium. The landscape is very beautiful there, and Valkenburg is a magical place to visit. I'd be happy to help out!
What a lovely video! It would be nice to meet you when you come back to The Netherlands! I'm happy that you've enjoyed your visit and sorry for the missing bag...
Great informational video. Sorry about losing your bag. I'd never leave my bags unattended as there are too many disrespectful people in the world. I really enjoy your videos.
Lovely video, made me want (even more) to visit Japan, and the Netherlands again too, which is closer to me. Our local bike shop here in a small town in Brittany had an exhibition last year of bamboo bikes! Somehow I missed it though. Perhaps you might come and visit here one day!
So glad you enjoyed it here! 😊❤ Too bad I didn't know you were here until you had left, I would've loved to share some matcha with you and practice my Japanese. 🍵 Maybe next time I could show you around! 🤗 Thank you for speaking so kindly of the Netherlands 😊
Wow! Thank you so much for your comment! I've watched some of your UA-cam videos too! I'm really honored. Definitely:) Next time when I go there, I want to talk with you and hopefully see your beautiful room! When you come to Japan, please let me know!
Thank you, Aki! The ninja gull reminds me of the giant kites (blackbirds) in the botanical gardens in Kyoto. There were signs warning people about them because they would attack people's food.
The seagulls by the herring standa are very aggressive😂. Sorry your bag was stolen there. It's nice to see you visited so many places while you were here.
10:34, 10:47: I recognize where that is, I live really close to those chickens! Nice to see someone visiting places in the Netherlands that aren't Amsterdam - but I wouldn't have expected them to visit Warmond, of all places!
The "dutch ninja" is a zeemeeuw (=seagull). They are very common here, especially at the coastlines (where I live as well). And yeah, they have the tendency to snatch a fish or bread from you from time to time, at least the bigger ones with the reddish dot on the beak. The smaller ones usually dont and fly away when you get close to them. Happened to me a few times in my life but its rare as far I've experienced. I love Japan and hope to visit it one day. Not sure where yet. Btw, try "Huis Den Bosch" theme park at Nagasaki :)
Thank you for sharing! The Netherlands is my country too, however I live in Aruba and would never go back to the Netherlands to live but only for vacation 😅.

Thank you for your video. It is amazing journey that you have shared. And yes, other countries and their culture are not the same as Japan. I would love to ride around Tokyo on a bike but not knowing the etiquette and rules, when to ride on the sidewalk, when to ride on the road, makes it a bit of a non-starter. Luckily public transport is super efficient in Tokyo, it would be nice to be able to do it in Kyoto though as the busses tend to get stuck in traffic a lot.
