Very nice video. I love both Italy and Japan. The food in Italy is incredible. Also the art, architecture, and friendliness of the people. I look forward to watching part 2.
Italians have a saying and motto that I really like: "Il dolce far niente" that literally means the sweetness of doing nothing. This is a great way of seeing life and contradict the fast paced schedules that we commonly have. This also reflects on their warmness, carefreeness and also on minimalism/slow living. PS: But I believe it's time to also give Portugal a try 🇵🇹
This reminds me of the phrase in Okinawa 'nankurunaisa', or 'what will happen, will happen, dont stress about it'. These two blue zone spots have so much in common...
Wow, I live in America and it’s the opposite. I’m beginning to realize that in America, your career is your life while in Europe it is two distinct category. Both ways of doing things have their advantages and disadvantages but i wonder why this foundamental difference happened considering america is fundamentally European.
So glad you enjoyed the trip in Italy and so honored to have been part of it (so cool to see myself in one of your videos!) Just a couple of things I can answer: Yes, Italy it's drier than Japan, but a lot of areas get very hot and very very humid too. You can see people in suit mainly in banks or in the financial district in Milan, is not extremely common, it's more for important events than everyday. As far as the bike on the trains, you can get the complete bike on any capable regional or intercity (not high speed) train for a very small daily fee, in the metro it depends from city to city, in Milan it's free but prohibited during rush hours. Folding and packing the bike like in Japan is required only on high speed trains. And cicadas are there singing to you to never make you feel alone in Italy.
I like the fact that you try to find the positive in every situation, even in the trash on the street and in the graffiti everywhere :D Thank you for another very nice video !
I have been to both Italy and Japan and cannot think of 2 countries more different! But both are absolutely fascinating. Both have friendly people and great food (though I admit I prefer Italian food), and so much to see and do. I hope I can visit both countries again someday. Thanks for treating us to your inventive overview of your Italian tour!
Italy and Japan have more in common than you can imagine...sensitivity to beauty (one is obviously more opulent while the other is more minimal and subtle), nature, art, history (at some point, unfortunately, their path crossed), rich culture. Not to mention food and the love for high quality products.
I love Italian food too. I love their pastas, pizzas and cheeses! I’ve never been there, but I hope some day. So nice to see that Japan and Italy have similarities! Another great video! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Aki! Loved this video ❤ It was very interesting to see my country through your eyes and I’m so glad that you made such lovely memories of places and people. It’s been a pleasure to meeting you in Milan and spend some fun time together 😊 Can’t wait for part 2! Take care 🤗
as for suits, it's pretty odd in Italy too. Seeing someone in a business suit, especially in the summer, means that they are for sure businessmen, or high-level salarymen (like employed at a bank, a design office, a big corporation, a high-level law or advisory/consulence firm), whereas most ordinary employees would wear short-sleeved shirts or polo shirts (normally emblazoned with company logo)...even in the winter most people would wear shirts or polo shirts with a knit sweater, or a turtleneck jumper rather than a full suit. Given that Milan is known to house the Italian Stock Market and most of the central offices of major companies, and the ancillary work environment is catered towards that, it's more common to meet formal suits rather than, for example, in Taranto which is mostly an industrial area where even the white collars wear work jumpsuits to comply with safety policies.
also as far as Italy being dry....really depends on the area, some places, especially inland around the mounainous/hillside areas tend to be drier than areas where there's a lot of rivers and water canals (E.G. Bologna and most of Emilia Romagna), or near the sea. But then again, seeing as Japan ends up being partly in tropical/subtropical area (not sure if you get also touched by monsoons or you're too far north) and has a lot more rivers, streams and canals than Italy, I guess that we are relatively drier Anyway, really glad you enjoyed your stay!
You can take your bike on the trains in a lot of places in europe, I know that in belgium, the netherlands and germany ( I don’t know for the other countries since I haven’t taken a bike on a train there ) you can do that as well but you do need a train ticket that specifically says that you can take your bike with you, those tickets cost a little bit more since you take up more space. Love your videos btw❤
As lover of your vlogs and historian plus loving to visualize different parts of countries and cultures. This video is a win win! Beautiful views! Impressive!😊
I am so glad to you enjoy in Italy. I am from Europe, and welcome. I want to visit Italy and trying pasta, because this is my favorite food. Difference culturals are beautiful for visit. I want to visit Japan too. But I like many exotic places looks like place where living some tribes. I want to visit Mursi tribe maybe, and I hope that are not danger way.
It was fun to learn new things about Italy. That sounds so nice. Italian pasta is incredible. More men should wear suits. I love the sense of community from your channel here! It is so nice. Are those bugs gnats? They look like them. We have them in the US too (in the north east). They tend to circle above the head but when you ride a bike. . .you will go right into them. They look similar anyway.
Since I went to Italy many times I can relate to most of the video. Still, the last time I went it was summer and extremely hot. Which is why I alternated between a jinbei robe and a haori made of linen. Even if the haori is black I still felt much better than in any shirt or t-shirt because the material is thin and breathable. I am certain a kimono would provide just as much comfort during the summer, in fact, I believe wearing any of these garments feels equally fresh in the summer. So my suggestion is to ditch the shirts and t-shirts if you go to Italy during the summer because it is extremely hot and feeling too hot will potentially ruin your mood.
Italy and Japan are respectively the apex of Western and Eastern culture. Therefore, they seem so far apart but are actually closer than any other countries.
All Europian countries close to the sea are like really warm. We get temperature even hotter than 40 celsius. I always wonder what are summers in Japan like because I am white like really white I don't expose myself to sun because it burn skin and it is radioactive too much. Anyway it is dry throught the summer and people that lives at the seas are warmer also 😂😂 in a way they are kind, always will help cause they are used on tourists and the weather. Come to Balkan to try our dishes 😊😊 we have also balkan coffe and a lot of old meal prepered , traditional one.
It is funny to hear you say Italy is dry. I live in Utah, USA, where it is very dry. My nieces went to Italy in July as well, and came home saying Italy was so humid! 😂
Hi Aki, I enjoy your videos very much. But why is the volume so low? Especially the one from the Netherlands. I hear more of my neighbours behind the wall than your voice!
What you call "outdoor museum" are actually "graffiti" and, technically, they are illegal, so enjoy them as much as you could when you see them, because they are gonna be removed... Soon or later.
Very nice video. I love both Italy and Japan. The food in Italy is incredible. Also the art, architecture, and friendliness of the people. I look forward to watching part 2.
Can’t wait to watch! What a great surprise 😂😍🎉

I love hearing about the kindness in people - I'm glad you got your shirt back!
Aki for Japanese ambassador to Italy!
His love for humanity and excitement at encountering different cultures really shines through in his videos.

Excellent vids! Thank you! Keep them coming. 🙂
Italy is wonderful, but I can't stand the heat for very long in some regions. Looking forward to part two! Much love from Bavaria! ✌😊❤
yes, enjoyed it. Japan and Italy are the 2 countries I would love to visit, tfs
Nice! Maybe you can do one video about cycling in Italy/Europe. Is it safe? What roads /thingsto avoid etc?

As a former italian I almost died by choking myself for too much laughs at the parking skill stage

In summer I also went to Italy for the first time and I loved the food too! 😅
Enjoyed every bit of it.
Sono molto contento che tu sia venuto in Italia, e soprattutto che ti sia piaciuta. Bravo
This is why you need to wear sunglasses when riding a bike in the summer ^^
Amazing videos!!💚

If you can park in Italy, you can park anywhere lmao. Our driving is ass though, and Naples is the epitome of it all 😂
Troppo gentile quasi commovente ❤
