About the "bisexuals are more promiscuous": My straight mom had more partners in her life then what I could even count, while me, a bisexual is probably ace too, because I can't imagine to be with anyone that way.
One question, do you perhaps also have the problem that people can’t comprehend that and tell you that you will become more sexually interested in someone, when you meet the right one. Because everyone is telling me, and I have to say it’s kind of insulting to tell a over twenty year old that they don’t understand themselves.

Something I really hate about stereotypes is when they’re based in truth. People act like just because the stereotype is rooted in truth, it means that stereotype applies to everyone, and if you try to explain to them the stereotype is harmful, they’ll just say “but it’s true!”
I think it's dangerous when you go entirely in the opposite direction too tbh. Like because something is a stereotypr it must be entirely false. The trick is to recognize the true parts of a stereotype, but not blanket people under it to judge them. Everyone must be judged as an individual.
These stereotypes are the main reason why it took me long time to realize i'm bisexual. I was thinking i must be straight because I had not these stereotypes, even though a lot of gay things were happening to me.
I sometimes believe in God, sometimes in Satan and sometimes neither. So. But not the same was as Christians believe in God, I believe in him like a normal person who just isn't here. I hope you can get it. I myself am transgender and gay.
Thank you so much for debunking the religion one. As someone who is gay and religious, it's always been hard to find my place. I've have to act heterosexual around my church peers and hide my religious beliefs with my lgbtq peers. Its hard when you can't be your truly authentic self. There isn't much representation for queer religious people, so it makes me feel so grateful when I do find it. Thank you so much! 🙂❤
I don't know if you have seen this but we put out an episode on Pro-LGBTQ religions a few months ago as well because we thought this needed to be highlighted so badly. But you're welcome! Much love and rainbows, Professor Pride.
I think it really depends where you live, what access you have to churches that accept and embrace being LGBTQ. There are places where there are churches with out gay ministers, then there are places where all the churches preach that gay is an unnatural perversion and not of God.Where I live there are some churches with banners saying "all are welcome" with all the pride flags displayed on the front, and churches where intolerance and fundamentalism are preached.
I have a very religious grandma who regularly talks about how annoying it is to have all these churches that just pick a few old testament quotes and manipulate them to spread hate. She absolutely hates the idea of conversion therapies as well as any church that tries to force people into their beliefs. The idea that all religious people are hateful is stupid and usually causes more harm to the minorities than it does the church.
10:32 "All LGBTQ People Are White" my partial native american blood: my nonbinary black irl friends: my bisexual mexican irl friend: literally every nonwhite lgbtq person:
My gay guy cousins are not fashionable at all. They wear sweaters and sweatpants. But, they do have the gay lisp. My lesbian aunts are masculine, but one is a little more feminine than the other. I would like to come out to them sometime soon.
The “all lgbtq are white” one really got me thinking, like- I’m multiracial but mostly black in general and when I’m around a lot of black kids in my school or in my neighborhood it’s incredibly hard to find lgbt’s or even some that support it respectively without making offensive “jokes” and stereotypes. Growing up around black my whole life made me notice how less open they are to lgbt compared to white people. My mom is bisexual herself (or so she claims) and her she still hates the idea or her son “acting feminine” or liking other boys. She yells at him over the smallest “feminine “ body movements or from him getting too excited to play with his friend. My brother is literally 6 idk why she’s being so harsh on him over literally nothing, at this point I honestly expect him to be pretty queer in the future if not then mom would have just made some dead beat rat who only cares about gangs and “boy stuff” (mom yells at him and my sister when we watch a “girly” show on tv when reality it’s just a female main character so he’s gonna be super confused about life some day). But honestly it just pisses me off, despite being apart of the lgbt she insists that we shouldn’t and it bad (at least to my brother, I already came out to her as androsexual and she’s pretty open about it to me but she really doesn’t like that I’m trans and doesn’t believe in it which is very annoying especially since I have a lot of trans friends that she loves to misgender) anyways I’m rambling now Idk what I was talking about or getting at with this anymore ._.
That's really upsetting, and you have a right to be upset for that. I can't say from experience that I relate because I'm a more white-passing multiracial guy, but as someone who is both trans and bi I understand that must be tough to hear from your own parents, that belong to the same racial and ethnic background as you, to claim they are progressive for their identity, but will knit pick an entire minority group. My dad for instance, he's of Jamaican and East Indian descent who says that he supports the lgbt community, he even accepted me at first when I said I was bi or so much as interested in people of my gender and multiple, but he hasn't accepted me for my own gender identity which y'know... makes me think his support for the community is performative as fuck to me. :/
dude I thought I was the only one who “thought” that black people weren’t as accepting of the lgbtq+ community :0 I was just really scared to say to out loud
Gay dude here. My case is way easier bc I have an accepting mom… but my deadbeat dad is homophobic in the full term… HE USED TO THROW SPOILED MILK AT GAY PEEPS AT SCHOOL… his friends even beat gay dudes up with baseball bats when they were adults… But here I am with my lesbian and 2 bisexual sisters. 🧍🏻🧍🏻♀️🧍🏻♀️🧍🏻♀️. I was in a cult ✨Jehovahs witnesses✨ and that stupid religion almost took my life. (I got out and so did all of my family… but my freakin dad). I was just recently gonna come out to him, I made a plain that when he got off from work And not on his phone I’d tell him. Then I went to get some water at 4am bc T H I R S T Y. And I heard my dad talk to my mom “Uhh I can’t with Sam he is just so stupid… I just wish I had any other kid as my son” I then waited for the movie moment for him to just say “but” But he never did… and my mom agreed with him… I got no sleep that night. And I haven’t viewed my dad as the same since. Just those small little moments alter a person beyond recognition… Sorry for the rant 😅.
@@SamuelSamuelSamuel1 omg did your dad actually say that??? oml, hey bi dude here (although im a bit to gay for girls so im basically gay), thats harsh hearing your father say he wants a kid other than you. you should honestly confront him about it if your confortable with it, your dad seems like hes uneducated and a bit traditional per se. i have old parents which makes me fear that theyre traditional, so just know that u aint alone okay? i hope your parents come around, and if they dont, then thats to bad that they cant accept that their child isnt good enough bc theyre gay, i feel you dude
I think it's that a lot of oppressed communities are strongly influenced by old community values, and those community values are anti-gay (just like most other old community values.) In the black community, for example, there's an active push to disassociate from gay people (from my perspective.)
To the 'Who's the man and who's the woman' phrase (?) I remembered something I heard, 'Imagine a pair of chopsticks, which is the fork and which is the spoon?'
my best friend is done with our community because of people like: oh you are lesbian?" " yeah I am" " so you listen to girl(s) in red?" "um...no?" " so you're not a REAL lesbian. A REAL lesbian should LOVE girl(s) in red"
I've never met a gay guy with a lisp. Even when I hear people imitate a "gay voice" it's usually not with a lisp, but with an over-enunciated S and a change in the inflections not the overall pitch of the voice. Obviously, regardless of what constitutes a "gay voice," the fact remains that nowhere near all gay men have it and not all men who do have it are gay. So the stereotype, like every stereotype I can think of, is indeed false.
Drag Queens aren't just men in dresses. Women can also be drag queens, both trans and cis women. It's not a contest of "who presents more like a cis woman"
6:15 so terrible. I had a teacher in high shool who openly really believed in this. He said terrible things when a young teacher outed himself as gay (for example the young collegue should not be allowed to on any school excursion with male pupils). Also, similar to this one there is the stereotpyte that all catholic priests etc. are gay and thus pedophiles. These generalisations are so harmful. Thanks for the video. It allways makes me sad how deep some of these stereotypes go, how many people believe them. Some could be almost funny, but it brakes my heart when they are really offensive and some people WANT to take them for real and be intolerant, ignorant homophobes. I'm "only" ace and not getting that much hatred (no one but my mum knows anyway), rather denial. Sadly the people who would most need to watch this movie will never want to, and even if they did would not take it seriously. One claim I often hear is like "all LGBTQ+ people are just seeking attention". So sadly untrue. But haters will hate I guess.
Sadly, one of the reasons my dad is homophobic is because someone actually claimed to be gay for attention, causing him to believe the claim that "All gay people are claiming that they are gay for the attention".
@@therealspeedwagon1451 Yep! Women who dress in men's clothing and put on a performance, just like how drag queens dress in women's clothing and put on a performance! I haven't seen any drag king shows though.

I've been told my voice turns much "gayer" when I'm hanging out with female friends, as I tend to subconsciously mimic the speech patterns of those around me. I have a deep voice, but there's no denying I sound fruity as hell sometimes lol. For those of us who feel safer or more comfortable around women, I think it makes sense that we'd pick up traditionally feminine seech patterns.
I personally believe that whether or not the stereotypes are true or not depends on the individual gay person. We aren’t all exact copies of each other.
My doctor recently said that I have a gender identity disorder. I was slightly shocked when he told me, being agender was a disorder, but when I watched this, I’m just kinda disappointed since we’re in 2022, not 2011.
I honestly think it's just really funny how none of these are true, because most of them are easily disproven or are too wild and outlandish to even be true.
Thanks for the video, especially interesting how the stereotype are both similar and different in the US and where I live in Britain. I'd honestly never heard the first one before, although there's also a lot less of a strong association between one's religion and one's politics in Britain (and the Catholic church in Britain seems to be a lot more liberal than in the US, my priest helped me to love myself even though I'm gay and find a welcoming place in the church, and helped me through my internalized homophobia to be more loving and accepting, I've even worn pride badges to mass and it has been well received). Anyhow, I hope everyone is having a nice day and here is a smiley face. :)
Sir, ig you forget that in Southeast Asia we have a lot Muslim lgbtqia+ people including myself. Plz no hate but its the truth and i come out as bisexual to my friends but not parents yet.😁😄
correct me if I'm wrong but the data from PEW Research Centre is likely to have only taken samples from within the USA which has a majority white and minority asian population anyways.
Just because I’m queer doesn’t mean I am agnostic. I mean, I am agnostic, but not because I’m queer. There’s a lot more shit going on there that makes me not religious than me being queer
for me i have a voice that can go high and low and i'll change everyday to through people off, many people see me as androgynous and often ask me my gender i usually respond with either yes or no and when they try to ask my friends or others who know me respond with the same thing. Although i got to a school who is welcoming to all no matter race, gender, or if you have a disorder they still welcome you in, however there is a lot of homophobia among the kids and i often to get hit with a lot of it as i often express myself and show who i am compared to my friends who don't like to show it as much.
for me it sounds like my voice changes, but i don’t know if it actually does because no one has ever commented on it. though, i don’t really talk much anymore and my family probably hears my voice differently (something about how they knew how i sounded as a baby so bias? idk). i don’t do it on purpose, the only person i throw off is myself. one thing about my voice that i’m sure of is that i occasionally mimic people’s voices, not willingly, and in fact i can’t even do it intentionally, but sometimes i just do.
Pardon me asking, but do you mean gay as in, you are female and lesbian then? Or do you identify as gay although you are not of male gender, because you identify as something else altogether? Something that I find funny is that all my friends that I made in elementary school are all now questioning their sexuality or gender, let’s just say my gaydar has been working my entire life..
my gaydar never detected anyone , since my country is far behind and due to lack of English here there is no information to be given to them , everyone here is racist and don't like LGBTQ+ , Well by everyone I mean the common people u would meet at school one time I compliment my friend who just looked good that day and he took that as a sign of me being gay . and then stopped being friends and a week later started to often bully me . like bro we been friends for 5 years like come I just said u looked nice that day wtf oh well I'm glad he keft me cuz I seen his shit social media the dude started something so much he looks like a homeless douchebag .. bruh yeh his life us going down hill lmao and I'm just laughing
About the gay voice thing, my transmasc ass accidentally transitioned into the most yass queen slay voice ever and honestly it's p funny. I'm currently trying to make it deeper tho
13:10 it's assigned sex at birth, not assigned gender. nobody assigns you a gender, they assign a sex at birth on your birth certificate & people expect your gender to match. Male, female, intersex, or "X" might be put on your birth papers as "sex", but genders are things like "man, woman, boy, girl, nonbinary, trans-fem/masc etc.". Also I should note that the pie segments on religion are not all proportioned to their relative percentages. Minor error
Wouldn't non-theistic religion be better classified as such? It's also possible it includes those that didn't respond or didn't have an answer to that question.
When I use my "gaydar" I don't really look for stereotypes, but just any pride pins, or even a subtle "they/them" on a worker tag. I can usually tell based on clear signals, but if not, I just ask a question that is SECRET CODE FOR "are you?" **limp wrist**
I think one thing to remember about the statistics of lgbtq people in different races and ethnicities is, that was likely only data from america. In a country where the majority of people are white will have more white people who are lgbtq. But lgbtq people exist all over the world, so the distribution is most likely pretty even overall.
I'm still bitter abt this one bloke I knew from primary school who I saw in secondary saying I "didn't look like a bisexual". Disclaimer: we were never friends and this was 2 years ago

Thank you for this video, as a heterosexual who was raised mostly around heterosexuals I wasn’t really informed on which stereotypes were actually true and which weren’t. It sucks that people pass around stereotypes that cause discrimination. For people reading this, just keep being you!
One theory I heard was that many straight men lower their voice below their natural midrange to show their masculinity, making it seem like non-straight men have unusually high pitched voices by contrast when they speak without altering their tone.
I really appreciate this video, as 1. I’m lesbian and I’m really feminine but sometimes I would feel self conscious because I though I had to dress butch to be liked by other lesbians, and I thought I’d be judged. Now that I think about it I know it doesn’t make sense but this helped. 2. Some of these really informed me too! I was always curious why I heard some gay men’s voices were feminine but I didn’t know that it happened for straight men too (I was just curious about it and wasn’t sure if it was on purpose for some or not for others) Also I hope I didn’t word anything weird or offensive I was just confused and I’m happy I know a bit more about my community :0
I seen some state this before and I wanna hear thoughts. There was this lesbian girl that was dating a Demi boy and claimed she was still lesbian because in her definition it means non man loving. Thoughts objections ect I wanna listen to everyone’s opinion. If you wanna help your argument look at the definition of homo-flexible
Im panromantic and I dont know if I want to learn my stereotypes- And LGBTQ+ relationships are the same as straight relationships but the only differences is gender and the sexuality.
Hey, I recently found out I am gay, or bi, and the problem is that haven’t rly figured that out, because I have had crushes on girls after building an emotional connection, but with boys it’s completely different, I just like them from the start. I don’t know what this is labeled as, so normally just say I am gay. Is there any label to that?
Maybe Demi-Homoflexible? As far as I understood, Demisexuals need to build up a relationship, before sexual desires arise, and Homoflexible people usually go for their own gender, but occasionally do fall for other genders. But since sexuality is a spectrum anyways, calling yourself bi, poly, multy, pan or any other more-than-one sexuality should be fine, because it's okay to have preferences. Bi etc. just means you are open to more. And hey, you don't have to pick a lable, and it's okay to be questioning, you are still valid and welcome in the community! And if you do want to pick something to help identify yourself, maybe watch his flag video! There he explains a LOT of different orientations, and their flags, and since most more-than-one sexualities are super welcoming and inclusive, I bet you'll find some that speak to you, and that you can feel part of! Hope this helps! 😘🌈❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💗🤍🖤🤎🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🤗
At 7:50 I heard an argument of something similar that kind of pissed me off. A homophobe was arguing "The Lgbt Community has a personality disorder." which I completely disagree with.
I was sitting here, and every time he mentioned a false stereotype, I just thought "that's literally insane, who the hell would be stupid enough to think that???", then I remembered how fucked up our world is. Thank you spreading information about the community, hopefully ppl stop acting like dumbasses😃
When i came out to my therapist as a trans women, all the questions i got were: why do you not wear skirts? Why do you not walk feminine? Etc. They would not use my pronouns or new name. Its sad to see these things in the medical field still.
When it come to voice it's really more when it accompanies the stereotypical mannerism. I'm into masculine dudes, some had had lisps, and others had had higher pitch voice. Never though they were gay. I've met guys with deep manly voice but there speech pattern (not a pitch, not a lisp) made me think they were gay
lol The only thing that "saved" me when younger, against a homophobic town, was my deep voice. Girls would hit on me very often. Barely they knew I liked penis.
I mean some trans people can be drag Kings or Queens because the idea of drag is an over exaggerated presentation of femininity or masculinity. Though obviously not all trans people are drag performers.
I wondered that too. But it might be, because there is a slight stigma against atheism, so not many identify openly as it. I've refrained from it towards my family, as they think it's worse to actually identify as a non believer, than to simply not believe (if that makes sense, which it doesn't to me, LOL). Also, strange no church of satan or pastafary are supposed to be in the community.
One can believe in god without being what most would call "religious." They're the people who never go to church or talk about religion but still think there is a god of some sort or another.
I love how was anticipating some of these to actually be true. 👁👄👁 Love how you introduced facts, history and science into the mix, learned something new today, thanks for the vid! 😁❤️
Should also add the fact that straight men and women sometimes don't fit the stereotype either. There's straight effeminate men and women who are more tomboyish who are straight. I guess bisexuals could go either way there. But yeah bisexuals a lot of them just want love...just their capacity to love might span more than one gender and they could be happy with either. Also bisexuals aren't always 50/50, many have a preferred gender they are attracted to. In fact I'd bet most people are secretly bi they just lean gay or straight and only a small part of the population is 100% straight or 100% gay or 50/50.
One of my best friends… let’s call her Star… so Star is my sisters best friend… she’s 25 And she is female leaning bisexual. Like she only has an IRL attraction to a guy once every year or so… but fictionally it’s about 50/50. 💀. For me I’m 100% gay… and for my sister she’s mostly straight, for my other sister she’s a ledollabean, for my other other sister she’s 50/50. Sexuality is so interesting 💀
@Myles Fletcher are you ok? Like genuinely are you good bc youve commented like 30 times telling people to shut up, and if youre trolling at least do it well lmao
@Myles Fletcher "no don't they will get mad." Well boo fucking hoo. We're not the ones terrorising other people for things they have no control over, and forcing them to suffer daily for no reason other than pure spite and hatred. They can either educate themselves or stay ignorant.
For a second I thought this video was saying that any of the LGBTQ Stereotypes are true. And I was about to rant to my friends on how that everyone is different and no stereotypes are true.
At least he doesn’t change the definition like everyone else , people were saying lesbian means “ women who are attracted to non masculine gender identity “ like what
Yes, we’re very confused by that too. A non-man loving another non-man could mean non-binary too. So we’re confused why some people think it was changed when it didn’t change.
Something else I tend to find commonly is people(especially doctors) thinking asexuality is due to low hormones. My father is on the ace spectrum and was almost given hormones when he told his doctor. I'm aromatic AND asexual(despite my want for intimacy, I don't feel attraction) and I can't even begin to think how my (already transphobic) doctor would react to this- And yes, I'm trans, and yes, she deadnames/misgenders me constantly :)
He started talking abt some kinda lisp thing attributed to the “gay voice,” but that is not at all what I imagine when I think of a “gay voice” is there something I’m missing here?
I think all stereotypes are stupid. Lgbt+ people are people who does not fit into the society's boxes.. Then why the hell are we pushing them to more boxes?
I appreciate you talking about the stereotype that all LGBT+ people aren’t religious. As a lesbian Christian, this meant a lot to me. I’ve had so many people say “but I thought you were Christian” when they find out that I’m gay.
5:00 and then comes people asking what is a drag king? No seriously I get weird looks from others asking me if "drag kings" are really a thing... Dude they always been a thing. Also it's false since I'm not trans but I do have a drag king alter ego (I'm a non binary bio female) BUT to those that know the whole drag [artist/performer] spectrum/umbrella though major props to you ;D

Every LGBTQ+ person who isn't living under a rock: "Excuse me?"
My parents are Irish, so I’m white but not *THAT* white.
My gay guy cousins are not fashionable at all. They wear sweaters and sweatpants. But, they do have the gay lisp. My lesbian aunts are masculine, but one is a little more feminine than the other. I would like to come out to them sometime soon.
Pls do, it's important to have possible guidance when it comes to a confusing parts in life
@kggamerking4777 I did, and they are accepting! :)

Gay dude here. My case is way easier bc I have an accepting mom… but my deadbeat dad is homophobic in the full term… HE USED TO THROW SPOILED MILK AT GAY PEEPS AT SCHOOL… his friends even beat gay dudes up with baseball bats when they were adults…

I got no sleep that night. And I haven’t viewed my dad as the same since.

I think it's that a lot of oppressed communities are strongly influenced by old community values, and those community values are anti-gay (just like most other old community values.) In the black community, for example, there's an active push to disassociate from gay people (from my perspective.)

1. I’m lesbian and I’m really feminine but sometimes I would feel self conscious because I though I had to dress butch to be liked by other lesbians, and I thought I’d be judged. Now that I think about it I know it doesn’t make sense but this helped.
2. Some of these really informed me too! I was always curious why I heard some gay men’s voices were feminine but I didn’t know that it happened for straight men too (I was just curious about it and wasn’t sure if it was on purpose for some or not for others)

Yeah she can't be lesbian if she's dating a demiboy demiboys are men 😭
Non-man loving could apply to asexuals, who def wouldn’t be considered lesbians.
And this just proves my point that sexuality doesn’t define a person, is our actions that define them.

Im panromantic and I dont know if I want to learn my stereotypes-
And LGBTQ+ relationships are the same as straight relationships but the only differences is gender and the sexuality.

I wondered that too. But it might be, because there is a slight stigma against atheism, so not many identify openly as it. I've refrained from it towards my family, as they think it's worse to actually identify as a non believer, than to simply not believe (if that makes sense, which it doesn't to me, LOL).

One thing. Atheism isnt a religion. It's a lack of religion so it would be combined with the "no religion at all" category of the graph
Well this is a new video that I would love to show my homophobic schoolmates 😀
@Myles Fletcher are you ok? Like genuinely are you good bc youve commented like 30 times telling people to shut up, and if youre trolling at least do it well lmao
@Myles Fletcher bruh?
@Myles Fletcher "no don't they will get mad." Well boo fucking hoo. We're not the ones terrorising other people for things they have no control over, and forcing them to suffer daily for no reason other than pure spite and hatred. They can either educate themselves or stay ignorant.
@Myles Fletcher Someone's in the closet
For a second I thought this video was saying that any of the LGBTQ Stereotypes are true. And I was about to rant to my friends on how that everyone is different and no stereotypes are true.
Hello, I’m non-binary and Polysexual and I’m a Christian
I hate how people think lesbians have to be masculine. I am a tomboy so there was people who assumed I was lesbian.
ooooo okay let's watch thisss
At least he doesn’t change the definition like everyone else , people were saying lesbian means “ women who are attracted to non masculine gender identity “ like what
Yes, we’re very confused by that too. A non-man loving another non-man could mean non-binary too. So we’re confused why some people think it was changed when it didn’t change.
@@PoweredByRainbows I’m so glad I’m not crazy
Something else I tend to find commonly is people(especially doctors) thinking asexuality is due to low hormones. My father is on the ace spectrum and was almost given hormones when he told his doctor. I'm aromatic AND asexual(despite my want for intimacy, I don't feel attraction) and I can't even begin to think how my (already transphobic) doctor would react to this-
And yes, I'm trans, and yes, she deadnames/misgenders me constantly :)
I'm personally more of a fan of spheres. I mean, I'm as straight as a sphere which is cool-
@@billystokes3917 LOL OKAY
I appreciate you talking about the stereotype that all LGBT+ people aren’t religious. As a lesbian Christian, this meant a lot to me. I’ve had so many people say “but I thought you were Christian” when they find out that I’m gay.

and then comes people asking what is a drag king? No seriously I get weird looks from others asking me if "drag kings" are really a thing... Dude they always been a thing. Also it's false since I'm not trans but I do have a drag king alter ego (I'm a non binary bio female)
BUT to those that know the whole drag [artist/performer] spectrum/umbrella though major props to you ;D
"LGBTQ people are not religious" Well, I'm bi but also christian .. and I do pray etc. that's funny how people can be cringe
Me as a gay person: Ah yes very educational
