- Fishing an inner city stretch of river in Manchester for BIG fish. Plenty of action, maybe a little too much in some ways, but a great days fishing on the opening day of the season. This kind of fishing is completely new to me and I know it isn't what you usually see on this channel but hopefully you all like the video.
If you do enjoy it, please don't forget to like and subscribe. It really helps the channel!
Would appreciate any of you wth instagram to go check out "ajmackfishing" and give Adam a follow!
You can find Needhams Specialist tackle here: www.needhamsst...
To the northern lads asking for the location Look at Medlock , Irwell and Bollin , and of course the Mersey . Do the legwork and you get rewarded - don't forget apart from a handful of local lads they aren't fished at all
One of your best videos George , recommend a trip to Merseyside and fish the urban river there as it holds double figure pike ,big perch and chub , again only a handful of us fish it 👍
Commercials pffffftttt - give me wild fishing anyday
Thanks for watching mate and yeah all great rivers! Are there any good free stretches on the mersey? Sounds like a great place to fish i'd love a big perch
@@adventurefishinguk , just put in Warrington rowing club ,howley lane , Warrington anglers have the opposite bank but it's free fishing the whole stretch opposite bank , loads of silvers ,big chub ,pike ,perch and bream , the fast water by the Weir throw up chub on lures but there's little channels around the Weir about the width of the Dane , pike and perch sit just of the near shelf and in the margins , good fishing and well worth exploring as it doesn't really get fished , the Alt in Liverpool is worth a visit too - same again ,no angling pressure . You can put a boat on the Mersey too as there's a good few miles of fishable river , Gowy near Chester is another wild one ,big wild trout ,chub and huge pike
Saw a Johnny catch are large bream on canal in Lancaster,he dint put it back, tea!!!!
Argh i definitely wouldn't fancy eating a canal bream!
Eye opening video, fast flowing urban river usual suspects mixed with monster bream and carp as you said. A few years ago heavily polluted . Top viewing happy days
Glad you enjoyed it Ian! Plenty of fish in there, not the cleanest of rivers though!
Well done George, another good video. I'm assuming you're on The Irwell. When I lived in Manchester 40 years ago it was a fishless sewer as were The Irk and Mersey. Now the Irwell is full of fish and you being a trout man should try upstream of Ratcliffe where they now catch huge wild trout, 5 and 6 pounders are not uncommon. Best wishes George. Nick
Thanks Nicholas, I'll have to look into that spot it sounds good. I'd love to catch a big trout like that. Thanks for watching!
Some cracking looking Bream caught there.
Massive weren't they! I've never had a bream before, hope i've not missed my chance at a big one
@@adventurefishinguk You will be fine mate and your day will come. You are very skilled and motivated. Even if it takes a while, there is always the joy of being outdoors and fishing.
George great video nothing like trotting a stick float down the river wye on a centre pin reel catching the best coarse fish in the uk the mighty wye barbel there fantastic my best is 15LB 40Z stick float fishing is a great way to fish,
I'd love to fish for barbel on the Wye, wouldn't have the faintest idea where to start though! Barbel is something i'm hoping to cross off my list this year
Well enjoyed this mate 👍🏻 urban fishing is where it’s at, the fish adapt massively to their surroundings and love the feature it can create 🙏 smashing mate!!
Thanks mate! Yeah it’s definitely fun to be out there doing something different 👍 was a bit of a grim river though
Yes the rivers are open & What a cracking season you had George. Them Bream are massive and great to see a river full fish. See ya got fish jizzed too 🤣😂🤣😂……. I was at the Swale yesterday … I had one Pike and one perch. Though I would have had more but are least I didn’t blank. Lots of fry about but river needs a bit of a gush out as lots of weed about …. Loving the videos s always buddy. All the best to you and the family … p.s happy Father’s Day 👍🏽😀
Thanks John, glad you liked the video! Yeah it was a sticky situation I found myself in for sure 😂 Glad you had a good trip and caught some fish 👍
Great vid George you need to do some more of this type mate there are some great places to fish which are overlooked by most anglers and as you found out they have some cracking fish and fun sport well done lad and congrats to Adam on the 2 Bream.
Thanks mate! Yeah I definitely fancy going out and giving it another go. Something different for sure!
Nice one George, enjoyed that, not done any course fishing for a while, those bream were quality 👍🏻
Thanks mate! Was a fun trip out. A bit different for me but i'll definitely be doing some more coarse fishing
Another great video George,🦈🦈
Glad you enjoyed it Alan, thanks for watching!
Great video, would be nice to see a net being used though to land the fish...stops bad habits being learnt.
I’d have used a net if the chub were any bigger 👍 glad you enjoyed the video!
Another epic Vid
And those Bream were massive
Thanks mate! I've not seen many bream before but those looked huge to me
Them Chub are real fast . That second one even had time for a w*nk ! And to think how dead that river was in very recent memory. There's hope yet . Makes me want to get out and give our local rivers and streams a try. Now could be the time........Great vlog , fellas.
😂 Glad you enjoyed the video mate. Get out and try them, you never know! Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment 👍
This river has been banging for at least the last 25 years mate, from the weir to where these are and beyond towards town, always fished it's tits off.
@@Swearengen86 That may be true, however.......the day I go for a sesh , you can bet it'll go to sleep ! Always happens. Must be me..............Oh dear !!
There are monster pike in that irwell near kersel... 25lb 30lb in winter..
Maybe I’ll have to check it out thanks for the heads up
Love the float fishing on ultralight lure rods, that's the way I learnt at like 14 years old, it really gives more teaching for fighting technique. Now landing carp on carp rods is just boring to me haha
Yeah I can’t see it being much fun bringing a carp in on a massive strong rod either now! That said, it’s something I’ve never really done. Thanks for the comment!
Love your content wish you all the best for you and your family god bless
What a lovely comment 😇
Thanks mate!
Thats a good dam bream I like fishing for bream on float grate fishing bois
Thanks mate! Massive weren’t they. Glad you liked the video
nice video mate, always great to try something different!
Thanks mate! Yeah definitely not my normal video but very fun nonetheless
Can't beat the river bro, there's just something about it.
That fish must have liked how you held him hahaha.
Hahaha yeah it must've done 😂 The cheek of it
@@adventurefishinguk his Mrs wouldn't have been happy if she knew... 😂😂
I got robbed for my fishing rod and trainers on that bit of the irwell in kersel ruff as toast
I don’t doubt it 😂 didn’t feel like the safest of places to fish
Nice geaorge that's my local river never fished it though. I live about 13 miles from there now. My mate caught a big pike from that exact stretch a few months ago
hi mate , been struggling to spot any lately , would you mind share the spot location please ? i'd really appreciate that
Thanks
It's definitely worth giving a go mate! Doesn't surprise me that there's pike in there, plenty of bait fish
@@adventurefishinguk will send u a phot of the pike my mate had on messenger.
Great video, what pound line where you using, looks thick. Thanks
Thanks mate! I'm not sure to be honest I can't remember sorry this was a while ago!
love your videos mate , i live in Manchester and have been struggling finding the fish , i would really appreciate if you can share the spot :) .. thanks very much and keep up the good work cheers !
Thanks mate I appreciate that! There isn’t many rivers running through Manchester, my best advice would be to get on Google maps and explore 👍 I’ve found plenty of great spots doing that
Go for a walk!! I'm not even from Manchester but it's not hard to work out roughly where they were fishing from Google Maps.
Always been intrigued to what's in that stretch when passing through ...rum as f*ck round there tho 😂....I heard you mention carp ? Would love to see one out of there ....You guna put anymore hours in ?
where is it please mate ?
Not sure if i'll be back yet. Definitely some carp in there we saw them! Tricky to catch though. Definitely worth a go if you're nearby
Good video
Thank you 👍
I'm after a rod like that but they only have the casting version in stock, van any drop shot ultra light rod be used instead say 1-5g ?
Yeah mate the cast weight and length are the important features to get right when chosing a rod. The action too ie fast or medium
Goated
😂 Glad you enjoyed the video mate
Dace are Ace!
Definitely fun to catch 👍
I caught a wonderful 8lb bream last week. Didn't taste great so will now pan fry rather than bake.
😂
i gather you still need a rod licence for river fishing or is it just for lakes ect . im not new to the hobby but you vids have inspired me to take it up again . if you could let me know that would be geat thank
You need a standard rate license for any sort of freshwater fishing mate, saltwater though you don’t need one. Hope this helps!
@@adventurefishinguk thanks mate and its only the fresh water side i needed to know about as i know the sea fishing side is open to anyone. i have moved more inland now as i have always lived buy the sea due to my comercial fishing job , but have moved inland since becoming ill . i am going to buy a x5 adventure rod as it does it all . are they good and would you recomend it as im off to thailand at the end of the year and want to use is from a kayak and the shore . would you recoment it . sorry about the spelling lol
@@gumpysee3644 would definitely recommend it mate for travelling you can’t get better in my opinion! Make sure you remember to use the code to save yourself 10%
@@adventurefishinguk whats the code please and thank s
@@gumpysee3644 AFUK10 and you’re welcome
is that stretch club owned or is it free to fish pal ?
I believe it’s free to fish mate
Bro really got spunked on by a chub
😂 as far as getting jizzed on in Manchester goes It could’ve been a lot worse
😳
😂
9:41 which area is this?
Not sure how to describe it really sorry mate I’m not from the area
Very annoying music that's makes it harder to hear what is being said😡
Sorry to dissapoint
Even I heard what they said and I am an old git!
