  • After coming off the trail late and in the dark, I found that I really needed some extra lighting on the Jeep. I went with the Rigid DSS driving lights. Install was pretty simple.

Thanks for the video. I was having a hard time finding a suitable mount bracket for my DSS Rigid lights. Watching your video I saw what you used, did a Amazon search and found the mounts... Just received them and now problem solved... Bravo to you!!! Ron R

Thanks, understand, in my case I will have to slice the wiring for the two lights together. My wiring harness has a relay, fuse, and switch which I won’t need. So glad we got the factory aux switches option, makes it so much easier. Have a good one!

How is the hood glare now that you mounted them lower on the curved rigid bracket? I'm about to mount mine on my white 392 Wrangler this Friday and was wondering if I need to mount them on the bracket where they sit higher because of the hood glare. Also, found out that KC now makes a simpler bracket for our Jeeps to mount Aux cowl lights on. Little more expensive though....

I like the lights and I don’t notice any excessive or distracting hood glare. They are very bright and do well on dark trails, I don’t notice the hood blocking any light, mounted low like i have them. I still like the mounts I got, although they are starting to fade in the sun, as others have noted. When I mounted mine, the 392 hood was fairly new and there weren’t a lot of options. Now that it’s been around for a while, I’m sure that manufactures have come up with more options. I like the low profile. Good luck with your install, let me know how it goes. Thanks for watching.

How did you tighten the inverted screw and without it spinning? That’s the problem I’m having.

I’m sure you got it figured out by now with my late response… the square part of the bolt slipped into the slot for me and I was able to tighten it down. But you may need to down size the bolt if that won’t work. Worst case may be to use a flat bolt with locking washer and red lock tight. Hope you got it to work. Let me know what ended up working. I wonder if Rigid changed something up. Good luck.

Hi, thanks for the video, so did you just splice the wiring for the two lights together and make one positive and one negative wire to connect to the 15 amp aux switch you chose?

No I’d didn’t have to. The lights come with the wiring harness already set up like that so you dont have to do any splicing. You only have to make the connection to the existing Jeep wires.
Good luck and thanks for watching.

Are these the flood or spot?

They are the spot lights and throw off great light and are plenty wide.
