Jeep Wrangler 392 gets a Teraflex Alpha HD Tailgate and Tire Carrier

In this video I explain my decision to remove the Mopar Reinforced Tailgate and Tire Carrier, and switch to the Teraflex Alpha HD Reinforced Hinge and Tire Carrier instead.
If I had to do it over, I would save the money I spent on the Mopar part and not order it again when I factory built the Jeep. It is important if you plan on adding weight to the tailgate with either larger tires or other additions.

Did you notice when installing this reinforcement that if you had put the tail light guards on after this modification, you wouldn’t of had to cut the guards? Or does it still look like it wouldn’t clear. I’m thinking about getting both for my 392.

Funny you ask. I wasn’t sure if it would or not before installing. I thought that I may have to remove the guards all together, but the new hinges fit. I think they may have cleared without the modification, or they may have cleared because of it (the cuts i made previously). It’s close, but the TF hinges appear to be a bit farther away and probably will clear. Don’t hold me to it, but I’m 80 percent sure they will…🤞 let me know what you do.
