The vocal chop method is amazing, I tried it wth different vocals and you will not actually get bad results, you only need to tweak a lil bit and you have amazing vocal chop. Thank you for this tip!
That bassline at 1:38 "Who's gonna take you home...!" I found ditching these tools and just jamming on a P Bass or a synth pad for a while gave me more satisfactory results. Tidy up the midi afterwards etc ...this sort of feature seems more for when you're really stuck in a rut and at a deadline.
Pretty good man, i got Ableton last month. tricky when you know nothing about computers. Ive done 2 tunes. using 6 tracks and only using delay and cant remember what mastering thingy. Thanks for the help man. Peace.
in the first minuite of this vid you described how I was feeling about some of these tools, fun but useless .. but now .. thanyou for taking the time out to explore them like this . Your tutorials are brilliant !
Hahaha I guess I’m just too big of a Live fanboy so I needed to figure out or find something useful. I get you tho, my reaction was literally the same as this good old meme I used
If you slice to new track it will create an instrument rack for you with pre assigned knobs. One of the first ones (as I remember correctly) is responsible for attack time of all slices. Just adjust it a little bit 😉
@@Zdrewe I tried that first, didn't work, but seems like it/s just that one drum break from splice(giving me the clicks). Anyways, thanks for the answer :)
Thanks for this tip. I have never heard about this tool. Another thing l found out it has a dark mode. I did not like the interface and the small font and the none graphic plugin interfaced. I assumed the sounds were as bad as looks. 😢
Thanks so much for the the awesome vid! Subbed with notifications on 👍. P.s dont let the hate get to you. Its inevitable as a channel grows unfortunately 😮💨
Thanks man 🙏 which chain bar you’re talking about? Paste the video time here so I can either explain it to you or just brag about my sneaky video editing skills 😅
Крутое довольно видео, информация как бы базовая, но всë равно супер полезная, спасибо! Добавил в список видео к которым стоит обращаться когда кончаются идеи :)
The real power would be if Transformation and Generative Tools can be midi mapped. That way we could create endless music variation with bush of the button.
just please tell me just how you do it as Cubase don't have MIDI Generators/Modification plugins. Not as simple as that. I am Cubase user myself though
Don’t get me wrong, scaler is a cool tool but… 1. those tools come stock with Live 2. at any point you can control every MIDI note 3. No need for recording midi output here
@cinex5114 in my previous video I showed the exact method I used in this example for drums but it was just a quick guide. More videos on mixing are about to come 😉
Great demonstration and well explained! That said, I’m still not fully convinced of the utility these updates bring. I get that those are more interesting bass lines than holding down whole notes for a bar, but they’re nothing I wouldn’t come up with just playing a few takes myself.
I agree, playing things on your own will always be superior to generating patterns. On the other hand generation can save your nerves during those less productive days or simply just give you some happy accidents to work with further
..or you can use your imagination like all the greats (Mozart to MJ..) have done to play or draw stuff in! I feel Splice has made me lazy too many times in the recent years and all the 'help' with AI tools is going to dumb us down even more.
Well, those are nowhere near AI and imagination is what actually make those generated patterns come to life. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still gonna defend playing (or drawing) stuff in but those generative tools are just like a modern version of sequencers which were also used by the greatest
Not really, as the results are curated by the user. If they lack creativity, they will get poor results...but they would get poor results whether or not they used these generators.
@@humfreeeagreed my friend. I made a very similar comment in another video. Shitty ideas, shitty results. There's still not a substitute for a good producer with original ideas that can do sound selection, arranging, mixing and mastering. Just salty weak producers who think they'll get left behind this soon into the AI race.
Actually will bring more originality. You can adjust what you come up with, and then you still have to make it all work in a complete track and make it good…
I think guys above said enough but I especially like what @humfreee said. Hard to talk about killing originality by using randomness generators and then adjusting the results. I heard songs on top charts which are less original but made by pro musicians 😉
That intro randomness was actually beautiful.
The vocal chop method is amazing, I tried it wth different vocals and you will not actually get bad results, you only need to tweak a lil bit and you have amazing vocal chop. Thank you for this tip!
Glad you tried and like it! And yes, exactly - it won’t give you bad results, just like any of those tricks. You only need to tweak them a bit 😎
fire, never even thought about chopping saneples with it
For chopping samples, phase shuffler is the key but for crazier results or melodic bits, seed is the way to go. Glad you like it 🙏
Hey man! I'm learning a lot from your videos. I feel as if I need to watch every second of it so I can make sure I can fully utilize Ableton.
Means a world my friend 🙏🙏
@@Zdrewe Hope you keep making more videos about this! I'm following you for life, man!
Nice! After more than a decade, I just made the move from Studio One to Live and finding your channel was a gift. Thanks!!
Appreciate that and well, have fun with Live 😎
If you press ctrl + the note you want in the piano roll. You select the note too. Also works in drumrack.
Nice one, amongst the best coverage of midi tools I seen yet
Happy to hear that! Midi tools deserve more attention
I'm so glad that your youtube channel is growing !!!
You earned it bro
Glad to have you here man and thanks for engaging with the vid 🙏
No way ! No matter to say I stayed for days few pixels from these marvels.
Cheers from Paris
Those may trigger some people saying it’s not creative but in fact it is 😎 cheers brother! 🙏
where do I get this effect that lets me chop the vocals? I don´t have it when I try to do it . the one he uses at 2:55

Hey man, great video! I wanted to ask, do you know how to get rid of clicks after slicing it to new midi track?
If you slice to new track it will create an instrument rack for you with pre assigned knobs. One of the first ones (as I remember correctly) is responsible for attack time of all slices. Just adjust it a little bit 😉

Great bass sound and tips and tricks!
Glad you like them! 🙏
You really are coming with the fire midi generator ideas, keep it up!
Thanks a lot 🙏🙏
What is the dirty bass patch around 5:00??
Slightly edited one from kulture dnb preset pack for serum (don’t judge I’m a preset junkie 😅)
Thank you for this tip! its amazing how the connect feature can save us users who program midi in so much time.
Thanks for watching!! 🙏 yeah it’s kind of an idea starter or inspiration saver if today is not your day 😅
What the Ned Rush Shuffle can do than built in Shape generator?
Yo bro just wanted to let you know your channel is a godsend you should have so many more subscribers your videos are peak 🙏
Many thanks bro 🙏🙏 glad you enjoyed the vid

Great video…. I guess you know by now that you can chose the midi note on the generator by clicking ALT + the note on the piano roll .
👍🏼
Thanks a lot…. wait, wait WHAT?? 🫨
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it 🙏🙏
sadly this doesnt work on ableton 11 standard :(
Можно ли ручки в разделе питч автоматизировать или как всегда в пианроле хрен-что автоматизируешь?
5:43 it was pure here.
Awesome😊
Nice, thx!
No problem! 🫡
Can notes be chopped in 12?
Sure thing, hold E and chop them and add Cmd to it to chop to grid
Love your videos :)
The real power would be if Transformation and Generative Tools can be midi mapped.

You can’t map them but… you can play with parameters and send midi signal to another channel while recording. This gives the similar results
Getting a android v ios software features type of deja vu. Pretty sure fl studio has many of the functions presented here.
been doing this on cubase for over 2 years glad y'all got the update 😅
no you haven't
Damn, I have a notepad with punchlines for FL users, but nothing for Cubase… 😂😂
just please tell me just how you do it as Cubase don't have MIDI Generators/Modification plugins. Not as simple as that. I am Cubase user myself though
this VS Scaler 2..?
Don’t get me wrong, scaler is a cool tool but…
1. those tools come stock with Live
2. at any point you can control every MIDI note
3. No need for recording midi output here
I have it installed, but I never used it the old way or any way for that matter.
My mistake, it’s nearly impossible to use the updated version the old way.. either way old or new, you should try it 😅
I'll always use this when I need some refreshing silly stuff to generate even better ideas for jamming and playing. 1:1 use? Probably never.
just subbed
Appreciate it 🙏🙏
Do you always have the God particle on? Hear the compression all the time
Not in this project actually, I just parallel compressed the drum bus and obviously used OTT on basses
@@Zdrewe have you ever done a video in how you compress and how route and paralell compress within a session?

Why not play and use that feature at the same time. Are you a hater of innovations???
U can do nothing, DAW music are emotionless. Real musicians are unmatched by software-base music creators.
This video just gave me a bunch of ideas. Thanks @Zdrewe
You’re welcome my friend!
Brilliant
People who hate on Ableton should hate on sequencers and Internet too
😂
Idiot haters
Exactly that. They neglect the legacy of decades with sequenced music they listen all the time 😂
