For street work nothing beats. Leica M or a Q. For anything else “except sport of course” Hasselblad. I’m a Leica shooter for decades but with the introduction of the X2D I see myself switching from Canon ecosystem to Hasselblad. The X2D is a Fascinating camera that matches in style and quality that of a Leica M. The perfect combo in my opinion.
PS: I still shoot the M9!

"The X2D is a Fascinating camera that matches in style and quality that of a Leica M". Just perfect the way you said it. I hear many experienced photographers like you saying you would have both a Leica M and this Hasselblad. It is still too big for my personal use, but I see a lot of value in it, too. Thanks. Tom

Nice video. I picked up the m11 before the announcement of the X2D, but I have no regrets. The lowlight performance of the m11 is actually very good. I have no problem pushing it to 12800. Size is the most important factor to me and Leica wins that with no debate.

I've tried both. The X2D has a fasgter focusing speed and the new XCD 38V/55V/90V lens. Plus a separate manual/auomatic focus switching ring. Compared to the M11, the experience is much better especially when it comes to street shooting.

I have m10 with the Leica APO 50 and am now thinking to get the x2d as a 2nd camera although with the 80/1.9 glass. And then I will sell the m10 and get the m11 mono which is amazing and for b&w digital there is nothing that comes close. The m camera, as you mentioned, I can take everywhere. It’s a different process which suits my personal projects and lets me ‚meditate’. It may sound silly, but it’s how I feel when I’m shooting with M. And the hasselblad for color is stunning. Here the M seems almost flat in comparison. The hasselblad is simply magical in this regard. I considered getting the noctilux 75, but the price is similar as the x2d with the 80/1.9. It seems like the decision is easy

i HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE. I think the Leica SL-2 with its L mount and 47mp sensor
allows you to auto focus with L mount alliance lenses and use M mount lenses
via adapters including Techart, Leica, Voigtlander, Shoten, Leica, TT Artisan, etc.
The Sl-2 has a 5.7mp evf for perfect manual focus. It also has IBIS. Many zoom lenses
    are available.

Just found your page and have subscribed! Can I ask how the M11 performs when you're shooting while moving at 60mp without IBIS?
I shoot street and am getting closer to a Leica but as I mainly shoot in London, it's rare that I can go faster than 1/500 while keeping at F8, and I shoot while walking - I'm curious to know if it's possible to get a sharp image at 60mp without IBIS. I saw another video where a guy said you have to shoot a stop faster than with his M10.
On a similar note, if you turn the pixels down to 36, does it help that issue (if it is an issue)?
I also guess a Q3 with IBIS & 60MP can't be too far off now too!

    • @OneLensOnly
      @OneLensOnly  Рік тому +2

Hi, you can see it this way: even the Q2 (which has the OIS, not IBIS) when you set the stabilization on auto, it kicks in at below 1/60th of a second. Meaning if you have steady hands you won’t need it for faster shutter speed. London (and Vancouver, too) is shady for the most parts due to the tall buildings so I understand what you mean. I go down very often to f/5.6 for street photography to avoid motion blur BUT with the M11 you can help yourself with the ISO; it has a BSI sensor and it will help you avoiding noise / image degradation to a certain extent. Q3 will be a very interesting tool, too, when announced.
To shoot while walking I assume you stop for a second when you press the shutter release, am I right? If so, you won’t have any problem :) Cheers. Tom

But is the X2D too big to use as daily camera if you can only have one? For M if you didnt get the new 0.3m focal distance, you can't shoot even the simple casual food plate photo when you hangout while the X2D able to do many more thibgs right? But is X2D a fun experience camera because it is just like other DSLR / Mirrorless experience right?

The X2D can function very nicely as an everyday camera. There is exceptional quality with the new XCD 38mm lens or the 55mm lens. The other XCD lenses are compatible as well, although with the manual focus ring in the same manner as the new lenses. The camera is easy to hold one handed, although many might prefer to dangle from the neck or look at other camera strap options. I've used for at least five days out on the street, and for a day at an automotive museum that takes some of their cars out for demonstration runs. I've had the camera and the two new lenses for about two weeks, and the older X1D II for two years, the 907 / CFV and a 500 C/M for about a year. I am very happy with the Hasselblad experience and their Phocus software. The present time, no other software fully supports the camera and new lenses that I know of to date. Sometimes, Lightroom identifies the older lenses. DXO and other software can'e recognize the 907, let alone the X2D. Even MacOS can't display the RAW file from the camera.

The pixel density in the camera matrix is the same. These cameras are very different. Both in terms of shooting technology and image format. And in size too. Otherwise, they have the same matrix (only the size is a little larger), And about a color, sometimes it’s more beautiful with the Hassel, but with Leica you can achieve a natural color, because you determine the color, not the camera automation

My choice would be the Hasselblad X2D because of the better picture quality. It also has PDAF autofocus and the IBIS image stabilization is better with 5-axis 7-speed stabilization. Hasselblad takes this IMHO.

If one does street photography - something I could never do - then I would imagine the Leica is better for concealment and discretion - however for regular photography - I am a wedding shooter - I use Hasselblad and have ordered the X2D and three new lenses - previously using the clunky funky Fujifilm GFX100 and three enormous lenses - also flash sync at 125x or below is too compromising - the Hass syncs upto 2000 - one lens? I love the 38mm 2.5 - equiv 24mm in 35mm format. With all that sid I do love the idea of a Leica M

I wish the photographer at my wedding had the Hasselblad :) Jokes aside, I do understand that as a workhorse it's killer. Never had the chance to try it yet but I would pick up that 38mm lens and eventually crop out of it, similarly to what I am doing now with the Q2. Did you get the X2D already or are you still awaiting for it? Thanks for your contribution. Tom

Good question: probably as a workhorse I'd go with Hasselblad, mainly because it is less limited (AF in primis). For my actual workflow, definitely Leica: more compact, I am more familiar with the system, glasses, it's "wearable" and other non objective reasons :)

  • @anthonyrock5039

When there is a difficult choice, often it is because neither is better than the other but rather they complement each other. If they were free I could not choose either. I would have both. They are nothing like each other. So one would be for basic use the leica, the Hasselblad for larger projects. If money mattered then it would be neither as they are both too expensive for the majority of consumers. The Xh2(s) is vastly more versatile tool for any number of photographic and video tasks.
