  • I put the Leica M11 with a Summilux 50mm f1.4 against the classic Hasselblad 503CW medium format camera fitted with a 50MP Digital Back, the Hasselblad CFV 50C.
    What are the practical differences in shoot experience, quality of image and characteristic you could expect? In this video I share my conclusions.

    Excellent comparaison Peter. I own the M11P with the Summilux 50mm f1,4 version 2023 and I own an Hasselblad x1d Ii with their best xcd lens, the 80mm f1,9. I love both system but since I got my M11P i havent used my Hasselblad.😊

      Wow, that's really interesting. I just got the X907 CFV II 50, so hope to do some comparisons myself. Cheers

    A wonderful video as always. Also particularly useful as having now got my replacement M11 which is working perfectly, I’m after a fast 50 and I’ve been mulling over the options and I think the 50mm f1.4 APSH Summilux with the slide out hood is right up there in terms of flexibility, so I was looking at the images with great interest.

    Great analysis Peter. Shows how good the M11 and Leica glass deliver. Also shows upgrading to medium format from Leica M isn’t much.

    Went to the Vivien Maier exhibition yesterday and fell in love , again, with the square format. Unfortunately I sold my Hasselblad in lockdown. Will look forward to seeing seeing the results of your experiment with that huge piece of 6 x 6 film.

    Always enjoyed shooting film on my Hasselblad cameras back in the day, now it’s Leica M10-R and not looking back. Great video as always.

    This Hasselblad is old and not the best and it is amazing that it can compete with the very last Leica gear.
    The newer 50c Mk II back is much more convenient with its integrated battery and smartphone like touchscreen. When mounted on the new 907X body results are sharper with the modern X series lenses than with the older CF lenses like this 80mm CF.
    One exception is the old CF 250 Superachromat built on NASA specifications that is even today sharper than the current 50 Mpix sensor possibilities.
    I find it very interesting being able to shoot digitally on the same back with vintage gear as old as from 1957 for the V system to modern X system.

    This is great info. I've been thinking about getting the M11. The Hasselblad 907 / CFV 50C is a great camera.

    Can’t wait to seeing your next video about this subject.
    I now know that the M11 is a great camera and the Hasselblad as well ‼️👍🏻

    Great comparison - always wanted to know the difference in the DOF between the two sensors. Do you think the results would have been different if you used the 50 APO Cron instead?

    • @Adventure8
      @Adventure8  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching. I think the results would have been the same re DOF. I would image the 50mm APO would have less purple/green fringing compared to the Summilux.

    If you want a fun camera to capture your daily life, will you get Leica M11 for the one and only rangefinder experience or this X2D for the image quality? But does X2D exoeriebce is just like typical dslr/mirrorless where the camera do most things for you?

    According to Josh and David Leica specialists from Red dot forum, diffraction kicks in at f/11. Not the best aperture to get maximum performance.

    Does your Hasselblad back get too hot?

    • @Adventure8

      Yes the back does get a little warm, not hot.

    i guess f/22 is causing some diffraction issues, right?

    • @Adventure8
      @Adventure8  2 роки тому

      Not sure. I'm really impressed with the Carl Zeiss lens. I was surprised by the narrower depth of view compared to 35mm format with the Summilux lens.

  • @GillesQuennevilleGQ
    @GillesQuennevilleGQ 2 роки тому +2

    Impossible to see the real difference on a computer screen. You need to print 2 large formats.

    • @Adventure8
      @Adventure8  2 роки тому

      Yes, everything is digital these days. Very little gets printed. Does raise the question of why medium format, 35mm format, APSC format when mobile phones are the presentation method.

    60 mp??? you cropped the Leica, why not just take each image to 100% and compare
