Can a person CKD take any of these medication and which medication is best for that patient.
@@Themindbuzz Hey There! I freaking LOVE this question! And you kinda stole my thunder. I have a video talking about this coming up very soon. Here is a sneak peek! The answer is YES. CKD patients and even patients on dialysis are eligible for GLP1 agonists. The best part is no dosage adjustments needed according to the manufacturer. GREAT QUESTION! Thanks!!
I have another question that hasn’t been spoken about. What are the effects of these medications on a medication managed mental health patient, for example PTSD, Anxiety, Depression or Bipolar etc.
@@Themindbuzz that’s another good question. That one needs to be handled on a case by case basis by a physican who knows you
Yes! I’m a dietitian and weight management is way more than calories in/calories out. Food noise is real y’all! Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you feel like you are doing all the right things and the scale isn’t moving.
Thank you! Food noise is REAL! Hey folks, dieticians are the real food experts and definitely should be part of your weight loss team! I appreciate your input!
Louder, please Dr., for the people in the back!!👏🏾🙌🏾
LOL Thanks! I take it the information was well received! Thanks for stopping by!
6 months on Mounjaro and now i no longer have diabetes
This is freaking awesome! Just be careful. Your doctor will likely still consider you a diabetic but now an extremely well controlled diabetic. Still, you are a success story for sure!
Congratulations this is what they’re for God bless you on the journey you’re on stay safe and strong✊🏽❤️🙏🏽👍🏽
Happy for you. I kind of want to suggest it to my mom....she's T2D and takes insulin.
Same here
Did your insurance company cut you off from coverage for the drug? That happened to my nephew the second his A1C dropped below 6.5
Great information Doc! There is only one problem... This video has TOO MUCH truth in it for some peoples chosen narratives.
@dr.prettyprofessor GUILTY AS CHARGED! Thank you!!🙏🏾
Thank you! I Love your Chanel! I especially liked hearing that GLP1 do not make you lose weight on thier own! You have to put in the work! So True!
Pre-Mounjaro, A1C was 6.7
I started 1st week of Nov '23. By 1st weekofMarch 24, A1C is down to 5.5 and a weight loss of 50 lbs.
Thx for debunking all the lies, Doc.
HEY TEHRE!! These are amazing results!! CONGRATULATIONS !!!
Today I took my 7th shot of Mounjaro at its lowest dosage and it's still working great for me.
That food voice in my head is dead and many days I have to remind myself to eat something. It also drowned out any desire for sweets and even alcohol. I can't wait to get my next A1C test in June.
Have you lost weight on that dose. I just finished my first week.
@@virtualservices3393I've lost about 35 pounds so far. I'm still counting calories though. I am eating about 1500 up to 1800 on some days. Most of the time I have to remind myself to eat.
@@virtualservices3393 I’m sure it’ll work for you too. Good luck!
What's up Doc!
You are so right, we have to develop a life style modification.. helping the medication with eating, exercise and sleeping.. not eating the same junk foods that put us here in the first place..
Your explanation is very easy to understand Thank you. I’m going on my second week. Cost is the biggest barrier.
I agree. Right now cost is a barrier to the medication. I’m hoping that barrier disappears soon! Good luck!
Good information. Thank you 😊
Thank you! I appreciate your feedback!
Great channel, great doc!
THANK YOU!!
Ozempic face myth!!! 😂. Thanks 😊
Good information I’ve been on epic for 8 weeks and a senior and it’s helping me tremendously for changing how I eat and how much I eat.
Sounds like someone is forming a healthier relationship with food!! I am happy for you! Keep going until you reach your goal!
TRUTH!!! Video is awesome sharing with my family and friends!!!
Thanks!!! I hope they get something out of the video as well! 🙏🏾
@@GoodDrG Absolutely this is great information!
Medicare says I have to pay $592 for a month supply of Mounjaro. And I have diabetes. Just as well scheduled eating is bringing it down. I need that money for travel. 😁
Great info on how it GLP-1 acts on the brain.
HEY! This probably one of the most exciting possibilities of GLP1 Agonists! I am really looking forward to clinical trials on this aspect of medicine and hope its effective on conditions like dementia and Parkinson's.
You answered my question. I was worried about my sugar dropping too low. I am not diabetic.
Hey there! Your blood glucose/sugar levels will drop but typically only to the point of causing you some fatigue (patients say they feel really tired). This is why I recommend my patients incorporate fruit into their nutrition plan. Helps keep this fatigue away. I hope that helps!
@@GoodDrG Thank you so much, Dr. G.
The insurance myth is the one that really got me and then now being a little bit more strict if you take a look at all, these people who got these medicines off label to lose weight, not being a diabetic or anything like that, and now other people who are diabetic or having a really hard time finding the medicine I need the medicine to help them.
Thank you Dr. G for this amazing and informative video! I will begin taking weekly Tirzepatide injections this week. Is it a myth that it's possible to cause tumors in the thyroid or even thyroid cancer? Thank you in advance for your thoughts on this.
HEY! SO the thyroid cancer black box warning come from an uptick in thyroid cancer seen lab mice when given the GLP1 Agonist meds as they were developing the medications. Typically when a new compound/class of medication is being developed there is a phase where lab animals are given the investigational product in varying amount to test for safety. Some of the doses are much much higher than what we would ever give a human being. Since those lab mice developed thyroid cancer the black box warning was put into place for patients with a personal history or close family history of medullary thyroid cancer. Post marketing studies are ongoing but so far it appears the increased risk if any is not significant. THANKS FOR THE QUESTION!
@@GoodDrG Thank you so, so very much for taking the time to answer my question! I really do appreciate it. This information has given me immediate peace of mind. There are no words that can adequately express my gratitude for your channel and the wealth of information that you are generously sharing with us. Again, thank youuuu!🙏🏾
Dr, what about menopause weight gain?
HEY! I have had good success with post-menopausal patient! No reason it should not work! Of course hormones should be checked.
I'm using Tirzepatide, can I switch to Ozemipc or Wegovy?
No reason why you cannot!. My only Question is why the switch?
Can you switch medications before finishing the one you're using? I'm not satisfied with the company I'm using
Hey! You can switch between meds pretty much at anytime. I would not suggest going back & forth voluntarily. The reason being if you have an issue/reaction you won’t be able to know exactly which med may have been the culprit. The question is why do you want to switch? What do you mean by “the company” you are using?
Short term medication, "3-4 months" you say as you "teach lifestyle changes". So, what is your success rate 1 year after they stopped the medication? What percentage of their weight have they gained back?
These are great questions!!! I can answer them sometime next year. I mean Zepbiund just got approved for weight loss in October and I started managing these patients with GLP1s last year. But let me ask you this question in the meantime. Do you not believe in long term lifestyle modifications? Let’s talk about it.
@@GoodDrG I will answer your question to me first: I do believe in long term lifestyle modifications, but facts are that if teaching lifestyle modifications worked then we would have already had great success in treating obesity (and diabetes type 2) because "lifestyle modifications" teaching has been an initial standard of care for decades. Fact is that most persons cannot or do not maintain the lifestyle modifications for sustained periods of time. I personally know how difficult it is.
You stated you cannot provide results yet. I assume you meant Zepbound and not Zepbiund (I could not find that medication in searching but I did find Zepbound). This video was not about that medication, it was about Ozempic/Mounjaro and you often spoke in terms of treating obesity when you responded to the "myths." In this video, when responding to the "short period of time myth" you stated use for 3-4 months along with lifestyle modification coaching. Where is your proof that there is long term success 6 months, 1 year after they stop taking these drugs? It is important to me that persons who decide to take these medications are fully and honestly informed about what they can expect not only in the short term but also in the long term. Many people will do desperate things in order to afford these medications thinking the medication is "the answer" to their lifelong struggle with weight and that they will only need to afford them for 3-4 months.
@@GoodDrG some people expect to be on it for the rest of their hopefully long lives. The longest i've known someone so far to regularly used WLM (weight loss medications) without breaks is a guy since 2012 (old school phentermine to metformin to wegovy to zepbound and now to compounded tirzepatide).
