Ever since I’ve seen Attack of the Clones as a kid, Dooku has and to this day always been my favorite Star Wars character in Star Wars. He truly had good intentions in creating a better galaxy before and after meeting Sidious. It was tragic to read about how he fell to the dark side in the books, but even worse, it was justified. And after seeing Tales of the Jedi yesterday, I was geeking out on how perfectly Filoni portrayed Dooku as a character. I do not think Count Dooku was right that the dark side was the answer. I think Count Dooku should have taken a Qui-Gon Jinn approach and followed the will of the force. He was correct about the Senate and the Jedi but not correct that Palpatine was the correct companion
Did you guys know that Ser Chrisopher Lee, the man that played Count Dooku, is an expert fencer? That's probably why they relied on this one-handed, sabre-dueling approach for his character. Little known fact.
Christopher Lee is the man he was the best at everything he did. I love all of his Horror films: Dracula, Curse Of Frankenstein, The Wickerman just to name a few. Outstanding Actor. R.I.P. Christopher 🙏🏻🕊🎊
I honestly feel bad for Dooku. I wish he could have avoided being wrapped up in Palpatines scheming. Heck, he can stay the leader of the CIS all he wants! But he like many other characters deserved so much better… But hey, the late Sir Lee played him PERFECTLY, so there’s that! Also I think the CIS was entirely justified in their secession, so...him leading them is just a bonus and entirely coincidental lol
In new canon, Darth Tyranus is nearly unbeatable without the use of anger fear and hatred. We learn this in the novel Dark Disciple. In the novel, we have Yoda stating that it would take two combatants to defeat Dooku. Yoda is Dookus ultimate test, and no version of Dooku is able to defeat Yoda.
I hate that my love of the Jedi is getting so muddied the past few years. Like, if Yoda is so experienced and intelligent in the force, how did he let them get so caught up in politics and becoming an arm of the Republic? Honestly that brings up the question, what is the Jedi's original mandate? Just protectors of the light side of the force? If so, why did they get involved in war at all? Seems like they would have stayed neutral in war like some religions today, because the force does not choose sides in human conflicts it would seem? An interesting thought. I suppose it starts with them getting involved in a battle that seems like there was obviously a good and bad side, then they start getting involved in more and more battles, realize how powerful a force they can be for good, and then slowly they get too involved with one side, and lose their original mandate? Sorry random thoughts, but I love these deep dives, keep going man!
I believe that Lord Tyranus felt so powerful that he could use both the dark and the light to get things done sort of like when cops bend the rules to catch the bad guys . But you should never even bend the rules or even break them because you’re either a good cop or a bad cop you cannot be both and succeed just like the count did not succeed and crooked cops all get caught sooner or later . The count had a good heart just maybe he was too old and getting senile thinking he could be all mighty and overthrow sidious and rule the galaxy along with Obi Wan. With that said , count dooku is still my favorite Sith Lord .
I love how a contributing factor to his turn to the dark side was the loss of his apprentice even though he knew Maul was involved because of Darth Sidius... His desire to change the galaxy was far greater in the end unfortunately.
Dooku's outlook on the Dark Side is similar to Qui-Gon's view of the "Living Force". It's neither good nor evil, it simply is. Luke Skywalker the Best of the Order and someone who has saved the galaxy more times than any sci-fi hero to date, used the Darkside on several occasions. For example he choked the gamorean guards in ROTJ but did not kill them. Luke never crosses the line and always thinks about the greater good rather than himself. That's the difference. Luke also used the Darkside to overpower Vader in ROTJ but stopped after Vader was down. Starkiller was an absolute dark side machine and he practically ripped apart the entire Empire twice to find Juno Eclipse because he loved her. That's true love by the way. Anakin was lustful of Padme. Padme was practically groomed by a stalker. Hate to say it. While it was a net gain for the galaxy (Luke and Leia) it's still creepy as hell.
