Hayden was perfect for the role. People are used to seeing outward emotion (fake or humorous) from Hollywood, so when someone acts on inward emotion (like real life) they don't understand it.
Not down playing Anakin as a character his life was difficult and stressful. Palpatine took advantage of Anakin because he was aware of his potential. That is my opinion & I am sticking to it!
The way you describe everything Anakin went through, the whole idea that "we" the viewer are anakin, and anakin is us...you nailed it. I've always identified with Anakin on so many levels, and still do to this day. I grew up with my mother, who was single, and very sick. I was constantly struggling with anxiety that I would lose her while being bullied at school at the same time. Fortunately, she got better for a few years but that anxiety was constantly there in the back of my head that I would lose her someday. She was a huge Star Wars fan herself and always felt like the Anakin storyline was something powerful for me. Back then, I couldn't quite understand it but now that I'm older and I've been through SO much more (including yes, losing Mom when I was 25 after she got sick again) I get it now. It's that trauma and that feeling of helplessness, like you can't do anything to help/protect the people that matter to you and you'll do anything to help them but sometimes, you forget who you are in the process. Like I said. You nailed it the way you described it.
At Full Potential there would have been no one that could overpower Anakin. He was literally born from the force itself. Force made flesh. It’s no contest.
The full power Anakin stuff gets me every time - like god damn dude you were so close. 2x as powerful as the Emperor doesn't just mean he could beat him in a fight...he could toy with him & kill him whenever he wanted. I couldn't even imagine the powers he would be able to use. I would LOVE to see it.
@@brandogents6624george lucas helped out the the Rots game and the what if ending. it’s just anakin nearly missing obi wans high ground slice and kills him. he calls for the emperor to land but kills him with his new lightsaber and takes over the empire but ya padme dies either way since anakin needed a father figure And paplatine already was pulling strings for the past years and finally got anakin to lose faith in the jedi
You know what I really really like about Star Wars Theory? It's that he understands it. He understands why people hated Hayden as Anakin, but he also acknowledges the fact why he was the perfect choice. I can relate to almost everything he says about Star Wars, because that's how I feel about it as well. The guy just gets it!
As much as Disney wants to retcon things and make Rey "The Chosen One" - it was and always will be Anakin Skywalker. Best character arc ever put to film.
Idgaf what anyone says... Hayden did an AMAZING job portraying Anakin Skywalker. And there's not a damn soul that could do it better. And because of it, Anakin will always be my favorite Star Wars character.
Yeah, and what's with the mechanical parts? Just clone new body parts. They can clone. So, just do that. We will have that tech in 50 yrs or less. So, they should too.
@@macturner2196 you can clone flesh, you can’t clone midoclorians, which exist inside people and are either the source or the conduit for force users to do their space magic. A Jedi or sith can use artifacts or whatever to boost their powers but your midoclorian count is finite. Every force user has some upper limit, and losing midoclorians permanently lowers that limit. It was never losing the limbs that was the issue, it was losing the potential stored in those particular parts of his body
@@ianharrison5758 You've never read Dark Empire have you? Never heard the audio sequels to the films where Luke turns bad? Cause the Emperor cloned himself a lot. In every body, he was a powerful Sith lord. Once again, making cybernetics that need maintenance, instead of just cloning your own limbs, is pretty dumb. How many times a week does he need to plug in his arms and fingers?
@@ianharrison5758 I was actually curious about that the other day so I googled it. The answer is because he can't reattach his limbs anyways because lightsabers sear your wounds and nerves so they wouldn't be able to. That's why on Mustafar Sidious didn't grab Anakin's legs and bring them with. You can't reconnect because of how fast lightsabers cauterize the wounds.
Personally, though I appreciate Disney's efforts to make Vader scarier, I dislike the idea that he didn't lose any of his force potential. It made Vader a more compelling character in that if he was limited but worked with what he had and still became that terrifying, it shows he's more than just his force ability. He can accomplish with focus and discipline what Anakin could not.
I fault George Lucas more for the directing of Hayden than I do Hayden himself, he's a good actor. If George did like he did with the OT, write and direct 1, but hand those duties off to others for the next two. Hayden would have likely had been a lot more natural and less wooden.
@@maxxdahl6062 So from what i can find, he actually did try to make someone else direct, because he knew and admitted that he isn't a great director. But spielberg and a lot of the others were either busy or said "direct it yourself, you wrote the damn thing, its yours". So even if he wanted to have someone else direct it, noone wanted to. Now whether the script or other factors are to blame, he still tried his best. At least he had the passion to create a vision and follow through.
@@maxxdahl6062 dont forget that his ex wife edited the OT, they got a divorce and that in conjunction with speilberg jumping ship are what I attribute to the flop
I feel like one of the reasons Anakin saved Luke, is because he didn’t want Luke to suffer the same fate as he did. Honestly, Anakin one of my favorite character’s because he’s so relatable, and I’ve always loved Hayden’s acting. I watched 4-6 as a kid in like 2002 maybe when I was 4 or so, and a little while after I watched 1-3 in the theaters. I remember my dad being so excited about the prequels we watched the originals on VSH on repeat before every movie 🤣 I still have 1-3 in DVD to this day and they’ll always be my favorite. I love your videos, I learn so much about Star Wars and it’s dope, thanks for always putting out great content 🙏🏼
I don't get why people hated on Hayden so much. Hayden was also a Star Wars fan even before he got the role. He flat out said he acted the way he believed young Vader would've been especially the way he lived as a young boy. He studied James Earl Jones voice even. Not to mention he was a quick learner when he was learning how to weird and battle with a lightsaber. He came up with his own techniques even. He was dedicated. Hayden himself is actually a great actor and one movie I think is overlooked and underrated was Awake which he starred in. He knew Anakin and embodied him. Without Lucas we wouldn't even have Star Wars.
Totally agree, Anakin/Vader is my favourite character and Hayden absolutely nailed it and his performance only gets better the more i learn the full backstory
Hayden nailed the role as Anakin. Anakin is my favorite character in star wars. Because of Hayden. And I’m so excited that he is coming back for the obi won series.
Do you mean the greatest “slave/bitch ass” character, Cause he is a slave at first with his mum until the Jedi save him & then he became their slave, And then the Emperor save him again & he become Emperor bitch ass for 20+ years, And the only time he tasted “real freedom” as his own man after Luke Skywalker save him from the Emperor but dies shortly after, But sadly Vader/Anakin sacrifice mean nothing cause the Emperor didn’t die when Vader threw him down on the Death Star.
@@baileygilbert4766 I almost agree, BUT he was born to be a slave, his destiny was that of a slave, in fact he wasn't born, he was made for a job. Now as for palpatine not dying, idk what you talking about lol? Did LUCASFILM under Lucas make new films, nope, so they never happened. In many novels, he came back more as a ghost or spirit but never as true palpatine. This disney shit shows dont mean anything but Disney's greedy asses tried to steal something and failed because no real fan takes them seriously.
Hmm.... Gandalf, Sarumon, Sauron, Melkor, Elrond, Bilbo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Smeagol, Aragorn son of Arathorn, Boromir, Faromir, Galadriel, Kirk, Spock, Kahn, Picard, Riker, Scotty, Bones, Gowron, Martok, Gul Dukat, and Emperor Vitiate would like a word with you.
I remember seeing peoples reaction to Hayden's acting, and being shocked. Its like they missed it or we didn't watch the same movie. Now I'm not gonna say the prequels are perfect storytelling wise, but his acting made sense to me.
33:56 the relationship between Vader and Anakin is pretty much what happens on the screen. Vader was the bad guy in the black armor, which Anakin required to survive, because he was crippled. Anakin Skywalker was the chosen one but then he needed Vader to survive after being defeated by Kenobi and when the Chance was there, Anakin, the chosen one took over and did, what he was the one chosen to do, which basically was killing the emperor
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND EFFORTS TO BRING EVERYTHING BACK TO LIFE!!!!!!!!!!! So glad that it was Lengthy like watching a new SW movie 🎥 🍿 it has to be true fans that can obviously see Hayden was the perfect choice! It is unbelievable how well he played the part and DIDNT get a dam GRAMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!! DISHEARTENING this was!!!!!! But it’s done now and I can watch it 100x 👀
In the Revenge of the Sith game, you can play as Anakin during his duel with Obi-Wan. When Obi-Wan gets the high ground, Anakin says "You underestimate the power of the Dark Side!" instead of "You underestimate my power!". In thus cut scene, he's less arrogant, and full of hubris. Which allows him to make the jump.
I'm so glad you took the time to explain these things! Finally, someone who understands Anakin's character as I do! I truly was heartbroken by the shadow side of his love and need to control in order to protect.
I think so too. People don't consider how GIANT a job that was. Go from a young, hopeful jedi learner. Full of fear and pain, but trying to repress it. Full of love and strength, but expected to restrain it. And as an actor tasked with convincing us that the little Pod racer from Tatooine will turn into Darth Vader, one of the scariest people in the galaxy. It was a huge task and I think he did it well.
SKILL AND STRENGTH ARE 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS. Anakin was always the most powerful force sensitive in Star Wars. That is literally indisputable. George Lucas said himself Anakin had more direct strength than Luke ever would, that Luke would never defeat his father in a straight up “force tug of war” …. The strength of your connection to the force is there from birth. Your SKILL and KNOWLEDGE are what advance as you grow, not your direct strength in the force; once you reach physical maturity, your direct strength is all there. Your “prime” or “peak” is when your skill & control catch up to that strength, when you’re able to access all of it with far more ease.…. Grandmaster Luke had more skill, more knowledge, but his father had far more direct strength. Luke has more range, Anakin has more depth. That’s the difference. Luke has more abilities, Anakin’s do more damage. Think of it that way. Also; Lucas actually said that he lost 40% of his power level, not 20%.. After his injuries, he was roughly 80% the strength of Yoda and Sidious.. After he had already lost 40% of his power level. What’s that tell you…. Anakin Skywalker was thee strongest force sensitive in galactic history by the end of the clone wars. George Lucas says so. Oh, and how about we just quit giving a VERY small and overly loudmouthed section of the fandom this massive platform, as in like don’t hype them up and act like there are more of them than there ever were to begin with. There is not this massive base of people that “hated” the main character of the entire saga. That’s a lie, proven over and over again for like 15 years now. And that was all said about Ep2 to begin with, not Ep3.. ROTS is literally the best film in the saga, and at least half the fandom will agree on that. On average, about half will say Ep5 and about half will say Ep3.
I love Anakin’s story! Makes me cry every time!! I don’t understand how some don’t see how conflicted and mistreated he has. The Jedi Order failed him big time! If only Qui-Gon would have been his master.. 😔
I seriously don’t get why there isn’t content out there about full potential Anakin. He would’ve been a literal demigod if he hadn’t lost to obi wan and I never see any stories about this scenario. Star Wars should make a what if series with clone wars animation style and make this the biggest episode
I think what is interesting about the running away with padme idea is that Anakin knows either way that Obi Wan is there to take him in. Obi Wan can't just let Anakin go after what's happened, killing younglings and all... Anakin knows no matter what happens next he has to kill Obi Wan first.
I loved Hayden as Anakin. The parts I didn't like was IN THE SCRIPT. Which he cannot be blamed for. He hit the Most imposing Character of all time on the nail.
I really love these long videos that i can just let play in my ear while i go throughout my day. So much SW knowledge that i appreciate you for giving me theory!
Anakin had more potential then the sith and the jedi and could've been more and be better like the father was to the daughter the light and son the dark. He wouldn't of just brought balance to the force but be the balance.
I have to say the voices are spot on. Your Anikan voice is perfect. I was never this into Star Wars but your channel had really gotten me into it. Thanks a bunch, now I’m a Star Wars nerd too, lol. I love your enthusiasm for this whole universe. Don’t let the haters get you down. Keep up the good work and may the force be with you 💪🏻✌🏻🍻🤗
Anunnaki = Anakin The Hero With a Thousand Faces, outlined what Campbell called the Hero’s Journey, a motif of adventure and personal transformation that is used in nearly every culture’s mythical framework. George Lucas was an avid admirer of Campbell’s writings, and used them as a direct reference in his creation of Star Wars. The two didn’t meet face to face until after Lucas had already finished his original trilogy of films… joseph Campbell
DAMN BRO I LOVE YO TAKE ON ANAKIN/VADER....IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE AND HAYDEN IS AWESOME AS VADER...VADER HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVORITE CHARACTER SINCE THE DAY HE TOLD LUKE, "EYEE... AM YOUR FATHER!!!"
I appreciate you giving Hayden the props he deserves. Anakin has always been me and my older brothers fav character. And we wouldn't perceive him the way we do without the cocky overconfident emotional man Hayden portrayed. It's almost as if Anakin in a sense is supposed to be disliked. Like he is Darth Vader. It's been known from the beginning.
There is another thing: if I were in Anakin's shoes, I would have recalled Maul who killed Qui-Gon. Even if I could save my wife, it is because of this man that I trusted that the one who discovered me, the one who saved me, was killed by this man's zabrak apprentice that my Master killed. IMO, that would have instead driven Anakin to contact Obi-Wan on Utapau after fleeing Palpatine's office. But that's me.
Problem is that his memories of Quigon would be incredibly fleeting. Over 10 years, and those memories were recorded by a child who would not be as observant as an adult.
We need a game were you start of as either a Jedi or Sith youngling making your own lightsaber getting to make choices of your path/fate getting to customise your character, omg I would play that game everyday
Theres Star Wars Galaxies. Its an old mmo still emulated to this day, there you can become a bounty hunter, a jedi, a bunch of melee classes and healer classes and many more. The path of the jedi unlock is probably one of the most interesting ever ive seen it starts as you grind your profession and various objectives to be able to unlock your way to jedi dark/light
Over the last 3 years or so I’ve gone into custom furniture making and next month I’m starting up on my own making home offices and custom computer desks etc I love my work and it would kill me to have someone try and take that away from me like these have tried to do to you, love your stuff personally always been more interested in the old republic era up to the darth bane trilogy but I’ve always enjoyed your videos and reviews keep up the good work and don’t let them get you down u have created something hear and clearly it’s something these spiteful little people can’t stand that they don’t have and that thing is all of us who enjoy your work and would rather spend our precious time on your videos over there’s p.s. would love a video or series of videos outlining the history of the Jedi starting all the way back with the dawn of the Jedi the only book I’ve read from that era is into the void but I find it really interesting how it’s very much about the balance between the light and the dark side (or as they name it in to book each of there two moons in that book) I am shore a lot of that is no longer cannon but it would be interesting to cover all of that
Hayden performed the role the way George wanted. Yes, Anakin had some serious issues from day one, so he wasn't destined to be an overbearingly charming kid, teen or adult. I believe he was never truly at peace.
Years ago after I watched Clone Wars Animated Series, I went back and watched the prequels. It was so much more heartbreaking to me!! Hayden did so well. Hurt my heart! Now watching Ahsoka and so happy for him as he is getting so much love from the Star Wars that community he deserves.
First of all thank you for your many videos!!! I'm a grown ass kid and 37 years old grew up on Star wars I would like to point something out to the Star wars Nation think about this if Vader completely consumed Anakin then why the torment if any can no longer existed there would be no torment for his actions he wouldn't care he lost his wife that was Anakin's wife not Vader's wife so yes that to many many other aspects anything that Vader looked back about his past life and it hurt him it only hurt him because Anakin was still there
I kind of repeated myself but I really wanted to drive that point home yes Anakin was invader that's why it hurt if anything had truly dissipated there be no pain for Vader to feel
To think that anakin wouldn’t use the dark side against Mace,(although it maybe unintentionally) would be silly and very optimistic. I think it would go similarly to his 2nd duel with Dooku. Especially given his hate towards windu
“People didn’t like Hayden because he didn’t show enough emotion” **Hayden crying, yelling, looking angered then sad**……Uhhh what are people talking about! Hayden played Anakin the best and I can’t imagine anyone else playing that character.
Anikan is my favorite jedi of all time besides cal kestis and I understand his emotions and his suffering, however what anikan needed was not a brother or a mentor but a father figure and a bestfriend besides his do called brother obi wan.
I think on Mustafar ,after he finishes the Seperatist leaders , and we see the Sith eyes for the first time watching the movie we still expect to see Anakins eyes and for the first time I personally see Darth Vader.
ive NEVER once thought Hayden was a bad choice to play Anakin, he played Anakin better than anyone else ever could, i cant imagine another man playing the part, i really cant, it just wouldnt work (IMO)
Haden was perfect...and as far as the crying on mustifar I think was him reviewing all the emotions he had to repress, he can finally let that out. There was no reason for him to hold himself to what he wanted everyone to see...a tough, strong..man of his own...slave no more, student no more, his own.....then he would of been hit hard with the realization that he was always being played, and controlled and fucked with...he the at this time back to Anakin as you see his eyes... overwhelmed with the emotions but he has connected the fact that he was always a puppet of palpatine...he now seen his real mistake...he cried for himself, as he repressed himself. And said goodbye to Anakin.... creating the strong Vader....
Love watching this video because I've been down since basically you started. As a Anakin fan it's awesome to see this put together. Yes Anakin is the chosen. Luke is not the chosen one but the catalyst that helps the prophecy. Anakin would have been easily able to take over the Empire from the emperor and recreate the Sith however he deemed. Darth Sidious even knew it to be true as he said in rots. Once he was set ablaze obviously you lost that ability. He was sadly a slave three times really in his life. But it's a great story. Redemption by the love of his son. I did go on and on but....... Was amazing I remember waiting to get it because I wanted spoilers even though I knew it had to do with Padmé I'm sure most fans knew that we just didn't know exactly how. The Jedi should have rescued his mother being he was the chosen One especially being nine years old when he started. If people need to know more I suggest if they have never read it get that revenge of the Sith novel, labyrinth of evil, & the rise of Darth Vader. Etc
I remember many people saying a bunch of nonsense about his acting when the movie came out. But I think he did it. Did it right. And I loved the acting in obi wan when they are facing each other. Still conflicted. That was epic acting. I’m glad he got so much love at celebration. He deserves it. Got his flowers as that girl said. Good for him!
Hayden's physical acting was a master class in the subtleties of physical acting in a dramatic setting. I would have been nice if the dialogue written for him was up to the caliber to match is actual acting ability. All haters of Hayden as Anakin need to remember that he delivered EXACTLY what he was asked to as repeatedly confirmed by everyone that worked with him...at that point the blame can no longer fall on the actor for not connecting with you.
At the part where discussing how Anakin always walked his opponents back (@1:09:29) has me thinking about the Vader fight scene in the Obi-Wan Show. I found it odd that Obi-wan was walking Vader back in the duel. There were so many little things in that show that bugged me, but that was immediately apparent for me.
Hayden was a great fit for Anakin especially when I was studying psychology when all three episodes came out not only for down time but studied all three closely. Those helped me with a better understanding of the human psychology also did a analytical study paper based on his childhood trauma through to adult hood. So for me Hayden was a great choice also it helped me pass to get my psychology degree 📜based on Anakin 😂
I will admit that by the time the prequels came out in 99 I was over my Star wars phase. I loved Star wars around 3rd and 4th grade which would have been 96 and 97, especially when they re-released the original trilogy in theaters. By the time phantom menace came out I had no desire to see it. By the time revenge of the sith came out, I did however want to see how he becomes Darth Vader so I watched that part and that was it. I didn't finally sit down and watch all three of the prequels until the pandemic. I think Hayden was fucking amazing as Darth vader. Absolutely fucking great. Dude weighs 160 lb soaking wet and when he walked into a room I believe that he was going to fuck shit up. But obviously the Anakin character is a little whiny. So I definitely don't think it was Hayden. I will say there are some cringe-worthy moments but I don't think that's on Hayden at all. I think that's the writing. Obviously everyone talks about the sand line. Cringe 100%. But honestly who's going to take that dialogue and make it good? No one. I remember when I watched him become Darth Vader I was like wow that's cool but him and Ewan McGregor were fucking amazing in that scene and watching Obi-Wan Kenobi and that scene at the very end between them, I'm so fucking glad they did that. I know some people are irritated because technically it screws up some stuff or at least makes it different but I don't give a fuck. I'm not a die-hard Star wars junkie. And that shit fucking cut me to my core. I would love nothing more than to see Hayden in a movie just about Darth vader. I know that Darth Vader has been done to fucking death and all six of the original movies are his story or heavily involved in, but there's so much out there that could be done. I really really wish they could do like a 20 to 30 minute short film, almost like a what if scenario, that shows fully functional Darth vader. Without any of the injuries or the suit. Just so we can see Hayden for half an hour straight being the absolute full potential Darth Vader could have been. I don't give a shit how they do it I want to see it.
Yo, I ❤ the video on Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, you truly are the best at all of StarWars Lore Legends/Canon . Thank you for your dedication of the greatest movie franchise in history. Disney should seriously hire you, then maybe they could come out with better 🎬 movies , & on a yearly bases like they're supposed to !!!! 😅 Anyway keep up the great work 👏man , been watching 👀 you for years now, never miss a video. Respect your positive outlook on life and the way you conduct yourself on your channel ,& your StarWars Theory brand period. Representing from Tampa,FL , grown-up on StarWars my whole life and nothing can ever come close to touching it !!!!!
I'm only 17 minutes into the video so far, but you're actually misquoting that statement from George Lucas. He didn't say Anakin lost 20% or was only at 80%. He said Anakin after Mustafar was only about 80% as strong as the Emperor. "His potential to be twice as strong as the emperor was gone". Anakin's full potential before Mustafar was being at LEAST twice as strong as Palpatine. Meaning that Vader was REALLY only around 40% of Anakins full power/potential. Since Anakin at full power/potential would've been twice as strong as Palpatine, and was 80% as strong as Palpatine after Mustafar, that means he's not missing out on 20% of his power- he lost AT LEAST 120%(using Palpatine as 100%), where his full potential was 200%. Simple math simplifies that to a SHOCKINGLY low 40%. Vader was really only 2/5ths as strong as he could've been. If Vader/Anakin was at full power/potential, he would've been utterly unstoppable. Even Yoda and Palpatine together would've been utterly insignificant to his power. They would've been as weak compared to Vader/Anakin as the average Jedi masters were to Palpatine.
Thank you 🙏 ive thought this so many times when its been miss quoted. By taking the quotes directly from George, and doing the math correctly, a full power Anakin would have been at least 2.5 times stronger than Vader, an absolute beast. He lost 60% of his power on Mustafar!
@@daniel_9500 Yeah, literally. Which is absolutely insane to think about. Anakin would have been literally like a GOD in SW’s, if he hadn’t gone through what he did.
@@SonGoku-vt7lu i suppose in some respects he literally was (thinking of the Mortis arc). I would love to see his force abilities if he trained under someone less dogmatic in there approach to the force, such as Quigon
Also, I love your explanation of the duel on Mustafar. I don’t like the way Anakin lost, and always felt that Obi Wan should have won, but maybe thanks to some distraction or something that happened to help save him. I never liked that Anakin (hyped forever as being so strong in the force) lost to Obi Wan in a fair fight. Something should have exploded or something which gave him a split second advantage, enabling his win IMO. Anakin is so strong, but we never really got to see that in any movie. The Temple fights definitely should have been kept in/expanded to show just how powerful he had become, as well.
I remember before revenge of the sith was in theaters the DVD special edition came out and when I watched the ending of return of the jedi I had no idea that they would put Hayden episode 3 Anakin in it I geeked out which made me excited for revenge of the sith even more and we fans got to see his episode 3 Appearance before the movie came out
I've been binging a lot of your content lately and I love most of it... The only downside is.... where are the second halves of several what if's scenarios? What if Anakin Turned Obi-Wan? What if Mace Windu went to Kashyyk? Amazing content!!! But left hanging and I would love to have your what if's completed! As always keep making awesome content!
3:01:30 The thing is, the archives wouldn't have anything about Darth Plagueis and he wouldn't find anything about how to save Padme; so he likely would have still felt he needed Palpatine's knowledge
Keep in mind it has taken many years for me to come to this conclusion so let me break this down. Everyone always tends to undermine the destructive "random" sinusoidal power that Skywalker possess; I definitely agree that the dark side would not have fully blinded him just yet. I have to conclude over the years that Anakin's power is just far to raw and enormous in magnitude despite his shortcomings that lay dormant hiding in the deep trenches of his vast power in the force. Sure, Windu is well versed and quite powerful in the force to say the very least. However; consider that Mace Windu is somewhat arrogant and certainly at least over confident not to mention blind to Anakin's complex and inflicted emotions. I believe that mace Windu is a Jedi, but Anakin is more like the ghost of Mordis. Anakin would just simply win in a cold calculated machine like manner. Without bating an eye against Mace Windu he would utterly destroy him believing his actions to be pure although corrupt. As I said, this conclusion took many years of deep thought and yeah Anakin is is the winner in this one. Despite Mace Windu's experience and calmness with the force, Anakin would simply dismantle him while concomitantly over powering Windu; Anakin was notorious for exploiting his challengers weaknesses as well as using any random force technique as he goes along fighting his opponent. The interesting thing about Anakin is that he's constantly growing exponentially and the further along the time access he goes there's no telling just what can hit you next. However, I will admit that his youth and half fulfilled skill in regards to his potential might pose a problem. The converse to this is that hes just to much, and as quickly as he could turn to the dark side he would employ the same tactics of spontaneity to destroy any Jedi minus Yoda. Yoda has admitted that this is what sets him apart but its more than what seems taken on the surface of that statement. Anakin would use all his feelings to balance all the ignorance of the Jedi Counsel somewhat unconsciously more as a human that is more powerful than any jedi and not a jedi bound by the weakness of morality or a sith burdened by tragedy. Now Anakin did technically become sith, but thats not what wouldve occurred before his attack on the Jedi Temple proceeding his random slice at Windu; he only lost his footing to Obi won as he was manipulated by Palpatine. Its due to him wearing his power from the depths on his shoulders and the growing hubris overwhelming his conflicted mind as well as the contributing thoughts of the crimes he had to suppress to save his love, that he was thrown off balance blinded in a mist of hatred and pain. This guys straight up manic and devoted, loyal and disappointed in the counsel fully thinking to himself "I wonder how easily this war would end if I were sitting in Yoda's chair, with Ahsoka to the Left and Kenobi to his right. I think Anakin was the heart and hope that the counsel foolishly took for granted and disrespected contradicting their dogmatic core beliefs and further instigating Anakins's decent into tragedy and loneliness. If only qui gon was still around.
I think Hayden Christensen received a lot of criticism as Anakin because they didn’t portray him as a hero like Luke before finally becoming Darth Vader. After the original trilogy a lot of people wanted to see Vader (Anakin) when he was the good guy Because they skipped over the clone wars between episodes 2 & 3 you didn’t get to see his development from an angry undisciplined trainee into a man, a champion of the republic all the while struggling with his inner demons. EP 2 was his intro to darkness and EP 3 was his fall into darkness. No in-between With so little time (only 2 movies for Hayden) they focused on the negative side of his character. The psychological aspects of Anakin that George Lucas put in were good and important but didn’t see much of the positive side, the honourable war hero and friend until later in the clone wars series Prequels are hard to pull off but I think they jumped over some important parts and squeezed too much of the story into 3 movies (13 years) Still a huge fan
Do you think it’s possible that Yoda has experienced more pain than Obi-Wan? Kenobi has totally had to endure a lot. But Yoda has literally lived 10 lifetimes when compared to Obi-Wan. A lot can happen in 900 years.
To use a modern parallel, "those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it". The problem with the Jedi is they thought the Sith were dead and gone, enemies who had been defeated 1,000 years ago. I mean, to make an earthly analogy, who now worries that their nation is going to be taken over by Mongolia and Genghis Khan?
Isn’t it in the lore that Sith get stronger faster but the dark side drains life from them ? Then the Jedi take longer to get stronger but have a greater potential for strength ! Which means Yoda still had room to grow while the Emperor was at his peak strength ! Now as for Anakin he would have gotten a massive boost when turning Sith but would have been even stronger as Jedi ! I believe that Palpatine knew this and with the rule of 2 let Vader fall so that he could keep him under his rule ! The reason for trying to turn Son of Vader or The Lady Vader was because Anakin was getting older and wouldn’t be around longer ! He did the same with Dooku !
IDK, seems like I remember a sith lord that stayed alive for a very long time simply by will alone. At least two, actually. Emperor Vitiate, and Darth Sion. Perhaps even Maul
Hayden absolutely crushed it in the ashoka show. Such amazing work, thank you dave filioni for giving us a star wars that feels familiar, and brings us forwards from this star wars great depression
I do not hesitate to say ''I believe Anakin was not to be turning to some occulting side from one or another'', especially when the counsil set itself to redirect through arguments from authority that are based on the idea that a person should conform to the opinion of a perceived authority or authoritative group, as this is clearly an example of the dogmatic and narrow-mindedness, often mentioned by Jedi as ''clouds'' or ''force-clouding'' as some fact or truth of logic, the state or condition to fill in words because they are incapable of admitting they do not know.
Hayden was perfect for the role. People are used to seeing outward emotion (fake or humorous) from Hollywood, so when someone acts on inward emotion (like real life) they don't understand it.
I cant wait to see him again in the role
he was good, the script sucked for him though really
@@randomgayguyman yes exactly
I really dont care what u think of Hollywood, but yeah hayden did well as Anakin.
just like snape in harry potter
Anakin is my all time favorite character no matter how people try to diss him and Hayden. Star Wars is about him period.
I agree
Anakin / Hayden is the best
and whole Star Wars Saga
Yes, you're got it!! Absolutely defined Aden/Anakin/Vader.
You like me
I think Hayden is fully capable of carrying the weight of the baddest of Bada$$es Darth Vader. That is why Im so exited to see the Kenobi series.
You are anakin?
@@Wally-pu2hh We're all Anakin in a way, if you understand the story.
May the Force be with You
@@Tom-sv3cm I agree, I feel that way
I'm Rey Skywalker
Anakin Skywalker is my favorite character in Star Wars, he's complex and a very tragic character.
At Full Potential there would have been no one that could overpower Anakin. He was literally born from the force itself. Force made flesh. It’s no contest.
He would of been like the father

Every scene he was conflicted. That was a feature not a bug. Christensen’s nuance in acting was perfection!
I know it's controversial but.... We need a Star Wars: What if series
Anakin Skywalker is one of the greatest written and developed fiction characters in history

So, they should too.
why you meat riding it wasnt amazing it was pretty good
@@macturner2196 you can clone flesh, you can’t clone midoclorians, which exist inside people and are either the source or the conduit for force users to do their space magic.

I loved hayden performance , I can't imagine someone else as Anakin.
Well not physically, but the Clone Wars voice actor I really love.
Hayden or nothing. Period
Matt Lanter is the perfect voice for him in the Clone Wars, but Hayden Christensen will always be ANAKIN SKYWALKER
He's definitely way better than Adam Driver as "Cry-lo Ren", little whining punk ass! I agree
paul walker would be great also
I really enjoyed Hayden's performance. He did the best he could with the dialogue he got
Also I really hope he decides to branch out and do more films. Jumper was great!
I friggin love Hayden, I think he’s great too and yes Jumper was actually a really good movie! I thought he was great in that too!
Yes! He loved Luke. Blood is thicker than water and Padme's children..."tell your sister"...!!!
Hayden Christensen is perfect in this. I loved the fight scenes, he’s so graceful in the way he moves.
Reminiscent of the style he adopts as vader, the nonchalant 1 handed style he uses when he isnt being challenged.
He did fantastic as Anakin/Vader

Bro…. Who TF you think you are? Just casually droppin some EPIC 3 hours of content on literally the greatest character ever made!

Do you mean the greatest “slave/bitch ass” character,
Cause he is a slave at first with his mum until the Jedi save him & then he became their slave,
And then the Emperor save him again & he become Emperor bitch ass for 20+ years,
And the only time he tasted “real freedom” as his own man after Luke Skywalker save him from the Emperor but dies shortly after,
But sadly Vader/Anakin sacrifice mean nothing cause the Emperor didn’t die when Vader threw him down on the Death Star.

Nice to see someone who understands & respects Star Wars and the true mythology.
Awesome
Anakin's potential was severely cut
lmfaooo

obi wan got cut down too lol
@@peterock42 yeah, but he full on accepted it, it wasnt a result of a fuck up and got infinitely more powerful for it, not less.

Would love to see a version of Darth Vader where he never lost any limbs
he already has a video of that
I think he tied Anikan and Darth Vader together perfectly
Hayden did a good job, hope we see him again!
He is already cast and officially listed in the Disney Obi Wan show coming out.
I seriously don’t get why there isn’t content out there about full potential Anakin. He would’ve been a literal demigod if he hadn’t lost to obi wan and I never see any stories about this scenario. Star Wars should make a what if series with clone wars animation style and make this the biggest episode
I really don't like obi wan I'm glad Anakin got his revenge
@@peterock42 Agreed

I think what is interesting about the running away with padme idea is that Anakin knows either way that Obi Wan is there to take him in. Obi Wan can't just let Anakin go after what's happened, killing younglings and all... Anakin knows no matter what happens next he has to kill Obi Wan first.
I loved Hayden as Anakin. The parts I didn't like was IN THE SCRIPT. Which he cannot be blamed for. He hit the Most imposing Character of all time on the nail.
THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS

Anakin had more potential then the sith and the jedi and could've been more and be better like the father was to the daughter the light and son the dark. He wouldn't of just brought balance to the force but be the balance.

The Hero With a Thousand Faces, outlined what Campbell called the Hero’s Journey, a motif of adventure and personal transformation that is used in nearly every culture’s mythical framework. DAMN BRO I LOVE YO TAKE ON ANAKIN/VADER....IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE AND HAYDEN IS AWESOME AS VADER...VADER HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVORITE CHARACTER SINCE THE DAY HE TOLD LUKE, "EYEE... AM YOUR FATHER!!!"
Anakin is my fave light side character. Possibly my fave overall character
That’s a very interesting POV. You’d think Anakin would be a little bit more conflicted before siding with the Emperor.
Problem is that his memories of Quigon would be incredibly fleeting. Over 10 years, and those memories were recorded by a child who would not be as observant as an adult.
Bro thank you for this. When I'm really stressed I put these on at night and relax. Just pass out. Helps the anxiety

Good luck with your work! 🙏🤍
we really need a movie of anakin and obiwan right after the events of the phantom menace, him becoming a jedi would be an awesome movie or show.
Tales of the Jedi could do it if they want to. Or a separate cartoon.
You are AWESOME! As a 40 year long Star Wars fan, you help me to appreciate the series even more (no NOT he sequels) Tank you so much!!
He was hard on her but you could tell he truly cared about her.
“Yeah, everything.”
“What??”
Lmfao awesome cut, Theory. Gave me a good laugh
The actor for Anakin did an amazing job
Anakin fullfilled the prophercy as the chosen one twice. First time killing the jedi, and then second time killing the sith.
I love watching this over and over again. Anakin/Vader & Luke are my favorite characters in the series. It gets no better than this 💯
Remember that Luke was present for his mother's final words. "There's good in him, I know still."
Hate on Hayden yet love the batman Pattinson smh idiots
The problem is most people don't seem to understand that for some reason. Nicely said.
Your channel is AWESOME! U dive so deep in to a galaxy far far away. I love the lore, the content, everything! Thx man 🙏🏻
At the part where discussing how Anakin always walked his opponents back (@1:09:29) has me thinking about the Vader fight scene in the Obi-Wan Show. I found it odd that Obi-wan was walking Vader back in the duel. There were so many little things in that show that bugged me, but that was immediately apparent for me.
Not going to lie. Videos like this are great to ease into sleep. Now I can choose to listen to all the Vader comics or this video.
I love your idea of Anakin harnessing the force to use as a shield for his skin..Making him impenetrable
I watched the full 3 hours. It felt like only one hour because it was so good. Super impressive.
Imagine if Anakin didn’t loose to Obi wan, gained his full power and THEN found Darth Nihilus mask, putting it on. XD

Theory Outstanding Job of compiling all of this information! "May The Force Be With Us All"
I'm only 17 minutes into the video so far, but you're actually misquoting that statement from George Lucas.
I remember before revenge of the sith was in theaters the DVD special edition came out and when I watched the ending of return of the jedi I had no idea that they would put Hayden episode 3 Anakin in it I geeked out which made me excited for revenge of the sith even more and we fans got to see his episode 3 Appearance before the movie came out
They couldn’t have found Anyone better for this Role !! I give Him a 10 /10 !! He was perfect!! 💯💯
I just watched everything in timeline order and the first thing that popped up was your video. You my friend, have my subscription 👏🏾👌🏾
I think Hayden Christensen received a lot of criticism as Anakin because they didn’t portray him as a hero like Luke before finally becoming Darth Vader. After the original trilogy a lot of people wanted to see Vader (Anakin) when he was the good guy
Because they skipped over the clone wars between episodes 2 & 3 you didn’t get to see his development from an angry undisciplined trainee into a man, a champion of the republic all the while struggling with his inner demons. EP 2 was his intro to darkness and EP 3 was his fall into darkness. No in-between
With so little time (only 2 movies for Hayden) they focused on the negative side of his character. The psychological aspects of Anakin that George Lucas put in were good and important but didn’t see much of the positive side, the honourable war hero and friend until later in the clone wars series
Prequels are hard to pull off but I think they jumped over some important parts and squeezed too much of the story into 3 movies (13 years)
Still a huge fan
@Michael - Exactly!
Do you think it’s possible that Yoda has experienced more pain than Obi-Wan? Kenobi has totally had to endure a lot. But Yoda has literally lived 10 lifetimes when compared to Obi-Wan. A lot can happen in 900 years.
“Know thy enemy.” Seriously, one of the biggest flaws of the Jedis that they weren’t more informed and or curious to be more informed upon their foes.
To use a modern parallel,
"those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it".
The problem with the Jedi is they thought the Sith were dead and gone, enemies who had been defeated 1,000 years ago. I mean, to make an earthly analogy, who now worries that their nation is going to be taken over by Mongolia and Genghis Khan?
Anakin is my favorite starwars character.
@@Mephilis78 I like to think that you live, but it’s painful
*Hayden Christensen understood the assignment.*
This was a pleasure. Thank you Theory. Amazing job on this video.✌
I subscribed without even watching yet just for the effort it takes to make a 3 hour video like this.
mom said one last video before bed
C'mon dad this is the best part
😂 Fr
Becoming a bigger fan each time I view the new content. Most people don't realize the genius of the SW creations
