  • How do place and space influence the design process and the implementation of solutions? What does it mean to actually design for your climate zone? For your home?
We were extremely pleased to be joined for this jam-packed 2 hour special by Jessica Hardwick, Director and Principal Architect of bespoke Brisbane-based practice Jessica Hardwick Architecture (JHA).
Jessica expertly guided us through two illustrative place-based projects: one a suburban family home renovation based on adaptive reuse, the other a completely off-grid intentional ground-up construction. Besides this Jessica conducted a live site orientation workshop providing invaluable self help resources.
Through these case studies you will gain a greater understanding of what to prioritise with your budget and how to do more with less. Discover invaluable lessons from different climate zones, from what needs to be incorporated in the design process to nailing your site orientation and ticking all the solar passive boxes.
Drawing on over 25 combined years' of experience at some of Brisbane's leading practices, Jessica and the team believe quality spaces form a backdrop for quality of life, in our homes, workplaces and communities. They are passionate about maximising sustainable outcomes in a manner that makes sense for each client's site, brief, budget and lifestyle to ensure energy efficiency, buildability and structural efficiency can all be maximised from the outset.
They are excited about a future where sustainability becomes the norm, and where people are thoughtful about what they build and so are we!
