Thanks Scotty!!
Hi Scotty I have a 2011 Audi s6 5.2l and it’s at 80,000 miles and I was wanting to know should I change the transmission fluid? I want to know if I should change it because I either do it now or leave it for the “life” of the transmission.
3 valve 4.6 mustang. 2007 100kmiles. For $5000. Was this a good buy scotty
Is this the same concept with a diesel engine particularly a 1990 dodge ram D250
Hey Scotty I have a 1987 Pontiac Firebird Formula with a 350 cubic inch engine. I use the car for my daily driver. I drive to lodi from Lockeford here in California. It takes 30 minutes to get to lodi and it’s 55 but I drive about 60 there. Is that a good amount of time to help the engine or should I drive some where further to get closer to that 2 hour mark like you say. Thanks Scotty for you amazing videos.
“No Officer, I was just doing an Italian tuneup.”
But office my mechanic told me to do an Italian tune up! Lol
😲😲😲 but... but... my mechanic, Scotty said to.....🤣
Yep, I got a ticket a couple years ago at 120mph for extreme tune-up. I should have show this video to the judge to prove my point, BTW the whole freeway was empty.
Officer: "Understandable. Have a nice day."
I don't bother stopping for officers.
Scotty's work ethic without cursing makes him saintly.
He once stated it’s only cause of UA-cam ethic he doesn’t curse on his videos, but he curses a lot behind the cameras. So don’t be fooled by that.
Lol it’s true he does curse. It’s a mechanics curse by nature. He even said his wife leaves the house for a while because he curses like a sailor. Awesome dude.
Scotty will never retire. These videos will keep him around forever. He is a legend 😎
So what I'm hearing is my cars runs good because I drive like a maniac
I tried an Italian tuneup on a Tesla. The increase in heart rate did a great job cleaning out my arteries.
That's very funny. 😂
What is an Italian Tune Up?? A watchamacallit?? Hey, hey Tony, just put some cleaner in the gas tank, and charge her 400 dollars for that.. Hey Tony!!
I don't think they're heart rate will rise up.. both Tesla owners are just reclined all the way back while they're asleep when the car is driving on its own lol
Or just take a high quality Vitamin K supplement to clean out and safely 'roto rooter' your arteries next time...it works much better.
😂
I sure do appreciate Scotty! His no nonsense way really helps me...I'm a 63 yr old granny, and still fix my own cars. It's always on a need to know basis...so thank you Scotty for all of your no nonsense help! And I also appreciate your sense of humor
I recommend he be forgiven of the Devil's videos on his left shoulder when he meets Peter at the Pearly Gates.😎😇!
A saint with a lot of humor.
@@samnyachiro6942What? Scotty is helping thy neighbor. what are you doing?
Right behind you,at 53😊
Scotty you’re a good honest man, we cannot find an honest mechanic like you anymore.
Amen brother! I have a mechanic like that, but he's in high demand
I mean you can, but you're going to have to take some chances when it comes to finding one. Its not easy or even cheap to find a good mechanic, but after you spend so much its all worth it when you find a mechanic you can trust finally.
You might get ripped off in the process sure, but at the same time you learn who to avoid. Its an unfortunate cost vs reward system but still good information to compile.
Especially for a woman who mechanics take advantage of.
After getting used to getting yelled to by
1: my Drill instructor ( Long Time ago )
2: my wife ( current Status ) 😅
I actually enjoy your yelling!
My Grandma used to call it "getting the lead out".... Even after her car ran on unleaded....
Stretching it's legs
someone threw a graphite pencil lead in to the engine maybe..
@@fidelcatsro6948 just like people still call them lead pencils instead of graphite. or do they? lol
The full phrase from the 60s was "Get the Lead out of your a**"
I remember that, once done you’d check the car’s tailpipe for a light grey or white deposits to confirm your car was correctly tuned. I’m not sure, but I don’t think you can do the tail pipe check now with unleaded fuel. Leaded fuel is now only available in auto racing and aircraft - higher octane level ~110+
Italian tune, my dad loves them, God Scotty you have improved my life with my cars, if you do and when you retire you shall be missed, we truly appreciate and love the content and pro tips. Ho be happy and live good. It's the guys like you with oil under their nails and gas in the veins who make the world run.
Feel the same here, just have to keep the Dramamine handy when binge watching.
There are still really good old mechanics out their most of them learned from their fathers like I did. I'm blessed to have had that experience, its saved me thousands of dollars. Believe you me it does.
Scotty's a living legend.
in Germany we drive on certain autobahns with unlimited speeds. Some of my friends drive 173 Miles per hour or 280Kmph. I drive 143 miles per hour. or 231KMPH. That is a real Italian Tuneup.
@Tommy Gofigure oh is so you have two types Italian and German tuneup.
Unfortunately only places here in the US we can legally go that speed is race tracks
Scotty has saved me bundles! He honestly is the most skilled mechanic in the WORLD. he knows all the tricks of the trade. Your the best Scotty!
@ I knew I have one Its a socket I made one first then bought one not a big deal.
@ No, i have one since i think 1989.
@@outwiththem You guys got nothing on me. I invented them.
@@Joe-mz6dc I invented all metals. Last year..
@@outwiththem I invented the model T.
Chill Scotty, you're not retiring on us right now
He shouldn't be replaced until after a new President is installed.
Somebody out there gets the reference.
I get it
I know but I get the reference
@Allen Howard It's a trick question, we don't "install" Presidents, except for in foreign countries after a coup d'etat. Everybody on the news is using the word "install" regarding the upcoming inauguration, talking about whether or not Trump should be "allowed" to replace Ginsburg. It's creeping me out, like they are sowing the seeds for unrest no matter what the election results are.
Dont be an asspipe bud..
It always impresses me with the older mechanics how they grew up tuning carbs and all that and now they still know how to use the computers to do the job. They adapted so well. I fear that kinda work ethic is dying out.
Right sure is, I know a mechanic who claimed to fix the vehicle and didn't, well that person got into an accident because it wasn't fixed after paying $1100 and it was a big deal, lots of trouble at least no one got hurt,!
It 100% has no one in town will work on my son's 94 Mazda unless I tell them exactly what is wrong with it and what needs to be done.
I was thinking the same thing. Things have changed so much for these guys!
@@lnsuvasquez2466 at that point it sounds like you're better off diagnosing it already and fixing it yourself. Worst case scenario you learn some more skills.
Im only 26 but still remember getting mad at my dad for cleaning the carb on the dirtbike without me for the first time when i was about six years old. I wanted to learn damn it! Lol
Ironically a young lad like myself prefers jetting a carb over firing up a PC and tuning software, its not a hating technology thing either its more so a cost issue. Some of these softwares are like $1000+ and since i only primarily do my own maintenance i just havent the need for something that expensive to tune. I could swap a Holley or Edlebrock setup into it for a fraction of the price and tune it just as easily, but for the time being i dont mind taking it to my mechanic for that kinda work.
You can’t retire, your indispensable!
We always called it "blowing the cob webs out".
My mom had a Buick with a 455” and she would ask me to “blow the sot out of it”. I liked that job!
Soot.
Lol 😂
Phil - snot
Buick GSX stage 1 ?
My grandma same way
I've been watching car repair videos on UA-cam now for about a year, and your videos are so great! Not only are you entertaining with your energy and editing, but so incredibly informative and crystal clear. You deserve all success and look forward to continue watching you!
Pop
im learning much more from Scotty by watching his videos than my 2 years study in automechanics from our local college😅
G’day Scotty!!An honest mechanic and a all around great personality! Wish I was in America where the best are from!
hello and thank you!
Scotty Kilmer the best!
@@scottykilmer G'day mate! Maybe you should consider retiring in Australia. We're still the Lucky Country ...and long wide open roads to do the Italian tuneup! 😉🇦🇺👍
Yup Scotty is the best
CMon over. We need honest mechanics here!
Even when you retire, your knowledge is still invaluable.
My great great grandson watching in 2099: Thank goodness for Toyota perpetual energy
Me now: 🤣 I got a Toyota thank you Scotty for peace of mind
We use to call it "Blowing the Carbon Out ".
Call it soot around here😀
I wonder why some people would dislike such informative videos from this briliant mechanic.
So....if I drive my car from Florida to Houston (to hire Scotty to fix it), it should be fixed by the time I get there! Thanks Scotty.
mike STOMS you know he is joking
Legends never die, and they damn sure don't retire!
A man who is a true genies!! ,And who truly cares!!!, For his fellow man/woman!!!.
Scotty is like the Gearhead grandpa I've never had.
I love that Scott is old school but up on new technologies. He also embraces the good and calls out the bad.
This is one of the best comments I've seen about Scotty. So true.
In Tennessee years ago they use to call it "blowing the soot out of it.
How long ago was that in "Tennessee years" LOL!
Maybe I've cracked, I misread your post at first! Then my mind wandered...
I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue!
@@Face2theScr33n I got my driver's license in 1976, the Bicentennial year. I had a used 1971 Ford Mach1 Fastback with Ram Air hood. Ran pretty good 😁. The year I graduated 1978 Smokey & the Bandit screaming chicken Trans Am's were $7800 new. High test leaded gasoline was $.69 cents a gallon. I remember a lot about the cars of the cars of the early 1960's too.
@@jeffreydevoti7000 Sounds like a great time, my oldest brother is close to your age and is more of a gearhead than me. He's a Chevelle guy. Most cars today have absolutley no soul. And with all the crap cars don't need, they are ridiculously expensive. If I was inclined to spend $30k on a car, I would take the time to get a well cared for oldie than some glued-together POS with airbags that get recalled.

Police officer...”you were exceeding the speed limit”. Scotty.....”but I was just giving the car an Italian tune up”. Police officer.... “ I am polish and you are still getting a speeding ticket”
''but really officer my car doesnt need a polish right now...all i need is an italian tune up!''
Truth Only, “...but officer, it’s miles to the nearest restroom, and I need a p...a big P.”
You should ask him for the sausage instead.
No, he would probably be German. If Polish, just drop a kurwa and you're good.

At first I thought Scotty was saying Italian Tuna
they make great engine additives too!! plenty of omega 3 fatty acids!
NEWS FLASH! ...
'Hundreds of people seen driving to San Antonio for pizza.'
Ron W. .
That comment sounds fishy, to me.
Mael-Strom
At 70 to 80 mph.
Well I'm not the only one .. The first couple time he said it I said "tuna" ? Then I heard tuneup
"Italian Tuneup!" You can tell you're from Western NY. I love it when a car salesman tells you it was owned by a little old woman that only drove to the store a couple times a week.
Or only to church on Sundays.
and she had a shorter right leg, you know.
@@srbinsamo Her name was Eileen.
I don't take as many road trips as I once did, so the lower gear / higher RPMs around town has been my go-to Italian Tune-Up for years... it works!
You’ve talked me into it Scotty! I’m moving to Texas since I live in Atlanta and there’s way too much stop and go traffic which isn’t good for my car. Anything for my car! 🚙💨
Odds are, if you own a Fiat Chrysler you're not gonna make it to San Antonio. 🤣😅😋

Here's a tip. Instead of buying one of those code readers, most cars display them, you just gotta know what to do.
When a code light is on, turn key all the way on (not starting) all the way off 3xs fast, code should display on odometer.
Nooooo!😫 Retire? 🤯 Not Yet Brother! 🤦🏾♂️Scotty you're the Man! I only just found you 2 years ago ... I got many more things I need to learn!! Between you and a personal friend (mechanic) I've learned everything I know from y'all. I so appreciate the truly Honesty advice and old school teaching that you just can't get anywhere else these days! You've literally saved me money (cold hard cash 💵)
I have now passed your videos on to my kids !! Seriously, Scotty you have TOO MUCH knowledge to simply fade quietly into the darkness,
I wish you'd talk to someone how you leverage your wisdom into some type of platform that would keep us informed, and yet not be too taxing in you as you try to work smarter not harder?!? A way you can enjoy chilling out/enjoying the fruits if your labor while still keeping us on top of this very knowledgeable necessary topic ... THE CAR UNIVERSE! .... Maybe a more lucrative 'Pay' for content Platform that could give you financial ensentive to keep spitting knowledge so we (the public) can have some resource other than getting completely ripped off!
Again, ultimately it of course is your decision .. but you would be sorely missed!!
But Which ever is your path ...
God Bless & THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU'VE DONE !!
REV UP Your Engine !!!!! 🏎️
Rev up your Oxygen sensor failed Italian tuned 0w-16 recommended oil viscosity engines!!
Cars are way too expensive and way too expensive to fix. Thanks for the tips Scotty

That's what I heard when younger
You're like the dad I never had teaching me about cars! Thanks pop!

Scotty we aint letting you retire buddy, you saved many cars around the world you done justice God bless 🙏
Also, before going on a long trip, check your tire pressure! That will save you a ton in fuel
So true! Check them when their cold too!
Scotty thanks for teaching everyone - your wife isn't the only teacher in your family you my friend are an automotive professor
I been watching your videos forever. I can't tell you how much I have learned from you. Thank you and keep up the excellent videos. The world needs you !
2:34 Your garage is well organized in a mechanic eye. No one understands it but the mechanic. love your videos 😀
Just want to say thank you sir for all you do hope you're still out there be safe
Enjoy your retirement Scotty when you take it. Thanks for all you have given to us all. All the best. Ron.
This man’s knowledge and experience is a goldmine. Thank you kind sir, from a former Houstonian! ✌️
Lol you bust me up scotty with your random images, the Tide everytime you say detergent got me for some reason XD
Lol I do the Italian tune up everytime I go to Illinois to see my daughter!
Warning: lots of ppl be driving to San Antonio and get their car tune...
San Antonio police will be putting out an APB for their traffic officers to collect revenue..
I use the 130 Tollway from Seguin to Austin and then loop back to San Antonio across the 45 to Kyle/Buda and down to 1604. Newer and much smoother than I-10.
I hope "they" are not coming from Calif. or N.Y.
After listening to Scotty, I feel like I know so much more about cars now
New game....Take a shot of Grappa every time Scotty says "Italian tune-up" !!!
Next time I get pulled over for speeding, I'll tell the cop I'm performing an Italian Tune Up😂
I got pulled over for speeding one day and the cops as I’ve been waiting for you all day and I told him I got here as fast as I could he give me a ticket for 1 mile an hour over the speed limit instead of 10 and said he was going to be in court today of the ticket so I didn’t get charged 😎🇺🇸
Would you believe that people pay hundreds if not thousands of dollars to go to school to be an auto mechanic. You can learn more watching a few of Scotty's videos than you can in 2 semesters of college. I've been a automotive DIY'er for more than 30 years, but even I learn new things here.

Scott! real legendary UA-cam car mechanic hero Scotty!
No bs and just straight to the point with no time wasted.
Been watching you for a while. Thanks for the information. We always called it "burning out the cobs" in the country.
Dude, you were funny on this one, good job over these years, info is power. Thanks

I love your enthusiasm Scotty.
Keep up the good work, and giving us excellent advice.
Great explanation of the new oil and why it is changing.
I love your videos, and the pictures you use. I cant afford college and dont believe in a peace of paper to say i know something. All knowledge is open on the internet and your a great teacher. Thanks for what you do and the mainy young machinics you help to better themselves
My 2001 camry , 2.2. 4 cylinder,

Rev up your engines!!
Haha.
My friend who is a Corvette maniac told me when I was a teen to drive your car at high speeds to remove carbon deposits out. He said it burns impurities in the oil.
Thank you Scotty. You have done us all a great service by informing us about our vehicles and maintenance. It is not that difficult to own and
care for a car. It will last much longer than if we neglected our car.
Wife: let's go on a holiday to the coast.
Husband: (thinking) Yes, Italian tune up. 🤗. Let's take the highway.
21:05 dont forget to put antizese on the sensor threads.
it's always good to "open up and clean out" your engine.
I use to put fuel injector cleaner in the tank and disconnect the fuel pressure regulator and drive for about an hour on my 97 lincoln town car. Worked like a charm every time.
So that´s the secret of Honda realibility: Revving it high. 😁
You are a friggen WEALTH of knowledge... thank you so much 😊 Scotty!!!!
"Wanna Keep It Mean And Lean!" Lmao I love you scotty man
Remember the Days when you could sit on the fender, hang your feet in the engine compartment, and work on the engine? My 57 Chevy had a ton of space around the engine! Remember Sinclair, Texaco, Amoco, Gulf, Union 76, Phillips 66, & Esso gas stations? Remember the "Ding" when a car drove in? Water & Air was FREE! Remember when gas stations had 2 or 3 mechanics bays (No Convenience Stores) and you knew the guy working on your car... he probably lived in your neighborhood! When I was 10 or so... I use to hang out at the corner gas station and work on my bicycle and cleaned up around the station for Joe! I learned that bicycles had bearings and you could grease them and the chain! Joe called it "Cup Grease"... I guess that was because he "squirted" it into a small Dixie cup and gave it to me! I learned how to repair my own bicycle tube! They were great people!
The last car I worked on (around 1995) was a my wife's 1987 Olds Cutlass Supreme. I changed the water pump! What a nightmare. It had standard and metric fasteners and I did not own any metric wrenches. It turned into a frustrating 4 hour job trying to work with the tools I had on hand!
I've never enjoyed, laughed and learned so much all at the same time ...
Best wishes from Manchester UK
Take a shot everytime he says Italian tune up lol. You're the man Scotty
Been watching Scotty for a while. Always wondered why he doesn’t have a garage with a lift if he is a full time mechanic. I do most of my own car mechanics myself and the worst part is crawling around on the ground. If I did it all the time, I would have to get a lift.
How many of you are reminded of “Captain Jack Sparrow” when watching watching Scotty make his hand gestures and body movements. 😂😂
Scotty will never retire. He will continue to give good advice long after our solar system becomes defunct.
I really wish him well, such zeal.
Thank you Scotty. There is no one like you. I don't know how you do it.
Your videos, your candor, can't help but lead me to believe you really care. It's like you really care. You cover situations from troubleshooting to laid back complicated easy fixes.
I'm not even a mechanic in the the slightest definition of the word, but you allow me to see how I could maintain or fix my vehicle. Thanks friend
Don't forget the anti-seize on the O2 sensor threads! Some come with anti-seize already on them. You could be the poor sucker who has to unscrew it the next time.
Lighter, cost-effective internal parts along with closer CAD tolerances simply requires superior friction reducing lubrication. Trust EVERYTHING Scotty is teaching you. It's priceless information.
I'm a fan of Scotty, love his honesty.
Thanks, Scotty. Great advice as always!
Scotty: Italian tune up time!🚘
