The ending genuinely made me tear up. The show started with Cliff and it ended with him. This show deserves so many awards that it will sadly never get.
I literally cried harder than any movie or show has ever made me. Pure cinema. I highly doubt I will ever be as emotionally impacted by a character death than cliff.
Doom Patrol is the best TV show that barely anyone talks about. It was shafted hard by WB/HBO with the minimal marketing, but it was all brought to a beautiful end. Brendan Fraser was an incredible casting for Cliff and I loved how the show started and ended with him. I kinda wish Casey was introduced much earlier because I would have loved to see more of her
Cliff is one of the most enduring characters throughout all the incarnations of Doom Patrol. These characters saw wonderful development, their stories stayed rich with the comic book quirkiness of theme, and the endings were nicely done.
Honestly thanks for being one of the only few people talking about this show. This really was a phenomenal series and it’s sad that it won’t really get that great recognition it truly deserved. However I definitely consider this as one of the greatest DC live action shows ever made. That ending was so beautiful man. It was a good run
Can we talk about how great of an actor Phil Morris (Silas Stone) is? I have to say that he did a phenomenal job every time he was on the show, I was never not amazed. I’m pretty happy for the ending Victor got, I think it fit well. I was a bit surprised about how Immortus came about but I like how it all connected. As far as Larry, I laughed too lol. Such a Larry thing to say. Happy for his ending! The skin tag was a bit… gross. LOVED seeing Niles back! Great actor and dynamic character. I personally like Jane’s ending, didn’t expect her getting with Casey but I love how she became K. I did expect her to get with Shelley but I kind of prefer her with Casey and think Shelley was just part of the journey. Madame Rouge was such a great addition to the show and quickly became my favorite character. She was so funny and quirky. I found the theatre scene a bit cheesy to be honest, I kind of feel like it could have been better. So Rita… when I heard the scream I uhm, yeah I had a hard time dealing with that because I didn’t think that would happen. I also thought the same thing, that they were going to bring her back but like you said, it was obvious when she came to Larry in ghost mode. I shed some tears too, it was hard to watch. I’m happy she got with her Malcom but still so very sad. I’m glad Rouge torched the Ant Farm and I’m glad she walks the line because she is a villain in the comics. Finally Cliff… just more heartbreak there. And I didn’t even connect that the show starts with Cliff and ends with him! Oh man, what a whole trip this story was. It was sad seeing Rory’s future but also amazing to see, very bittersweet for sure. This show is like nothing else I’ve ever seen in live action. They didn’t let anything confine them, they found ways to do what they wanted. It had everything and more from drama to comedy. Titans holds a special place in my heart because I grew up watching the show and playing the games BUT Doom Patrol is the best DC show. Everyone involved did a phenomenal job, I don’t even know how they kept up with all the crazy things in the writing but props them everyone. And of course, thank you for covering this show, Boba! It was great to watch this video!
I just cried Actually was perfect, drastic and dramatic Was sad, bittersweet, complete I was happy to see Dalton comeback for the episode previous to the finale, that was a wrap up! The only thing I would love is for Rouge a more positive end, she deserved better because she worked so hard. That tear me apart. It was, for a lack of a better word, full Full of a lots of emotions A rollercoaster #imadeithome 😭
It kills me when shows with this much creativity and vision don’t survive. I love this show so much! Regardless, I feel they did an amazing job wrapping up a show with as crazy a storyline as this one had. Mad respect to all involved! I so hope that we somehow see the Doom Patrol again.
I very rarely ever cry watching movies or shows but this finale tore me to pieces I was trying really hard not to cry as Cliff died but I couldn't help it
That very final scene with Cliff reminds me of the opening scene of Up, it tells an entire life's story's ups and downs in just a few moments of time. Doom Patrol as a whole has had its ups and down but I definitely think it ended with what is I think maybe the best single scene in the entire series.
Great review! What a wonderful finale to round out one of the most bizarre yet satisfying journeys any comic book show has taken its fans on. Doom Patrol was truly a scarecrow in it's field in that it completely stood out, and never once apologized for it. It's with Legends of Tomorrow in that way even though The Legends sadly never got to finish on their own terms. And much like LOT, Doom Patrol may never get the credit it genuinely deserves for taking the genre it was in, breaking all the rules and delivering home runs because of it. From cast, crew, costumes, visuals, story, this show gave us everything it had and made us apart of its weird little family. If we never see a show like it again, Doom Patrol's flag is forever planted in the ground for comic book tv shows. #WeMadeItHome
Just got through the finale last night, and yes, when Cliff powers down indicating that the series has officially ended, I found myself both sad and fulfilled. I am sad that this show has come to an end because I loved getting to know all of the characters and seeing all of the wacky, silly, and weird things that would happen. But, I was also very fulfilled because this show really delivered on a super hero story that can be all of the things. The show has some good action, character development, and emotional depth, but still brought the silly or raunchy or weird. There were just a few times during the series where things felt a little disjointed, but overall I try to recommend this series to all the comic book and super hero lovers I know!
The team might have disbanded but I have a feeling there will be a new doom patrol team in the future possibly lead by Jane and Cassie part of the new team. There was the original 1960s team. The modern day team. There will probably be a new team build up in the future.
It's rare that a TV show or its final episode can make me cry, last time was with LOST and now with DOOM PATROL. What a show, a true 10/10 modern classic. I'm afraid there won't be another capeshit adaptation like this ever again, a true shining crown jewel of live action superhero media. I will forever cherish this show and try get as many people to watch it as I can, already planning to watch it with my partner who hasn't seen it yet, it's going to be a wild ride.
This show was INCREDIBLE and made me cry for so long after. One thing I didn't catch until my 2nd watch of season 4 was that Cliff is the cause of Niles' paralysis. Idk if that's a fact bc weird time stream stuff but I'm gonna rewatch S1 and see if anyone ever asks Niles about his paralysis bc I genuinely don't remember the cause being mentioned. (correct me if I'm wrong though plz). The ending kind of had a "It's all connected" vibe to me. And it was a beautifully told story tbh. Albite chaotic and ridiculous at times. Also I didn't realize this until your video but I was under the impression that Isabell was just like a vessel for the essence of Immortus (like a spirit possessing a body) but was Isabell actually THE Immortus the whole time? Like there was no version of Immortus prior to Isabell? ALSO the fact Niles created the entity that gave Rita her powers in a fish tank. I didn't catch it at first somehow but on 2nd viewing it blew my mind.
Great review as always boba I was blawly during the finale the ending was beautiful loved the series im really gonna miss it sad it had to end but happy our favorite character got a good farewells.
I literally just finished the finale 10 seconds ago. I swear dude you and I must be long lost family. lol. That sounds weird sorry mate. But fr it’s nice to have a content creator who is as excited about all the DC stuff as I am. Cheers sir
Bro that ending made me tear up I had to take like 15 min to just take it all in made me even more sad knowing this is the last episode and they had the perfect series and ending
Boba...I too just binged it, and yes, I too was a blubbering mess. While I didn't really care for the profanity, I do think this was one of the most well written comic book shows. As a child in the 1970's, I remember reading the occasional Doom Patrol comic book here and there, so I had a vague familiarity with the characters, but didn't have a set in stone way they had to be. This was, by far, one of the best series wrap ups I have watched.
I binge watched this yesterday with the finale today. I thought the overall story in this second half was pretty weak and wow the CGI was bad. But I thought the finale was really well done and such a great end with a focus on their character development. Sad to see doom patrol go!
Well, I put off watching the last six episodes, because I didn't want it to end, but I finally binged them in one sitting. Add me to the list of blubbering viewers on that last episode. I really hope they have a 4k blu-ray release of the entire series, but I'll settle for regular blu-ray, if that's all we can get. This has been one of my favorite shows of all time. I'm sad to see it end, but I'm so happy we got such an amazing ending.
Yeah! I just finished S4xEp12, & I agree w/ everything you said.... Execpt it wasn't a perfect ending. How could it be without resoulution or ending for Dorothy???? I would've loved for Imortus to grant her 1 last conversation with her Dad. That would've been perfect if he could've seen the person she became. I guess No One knows what happened to her & you with these fans didn't even think of her enough to mention what about her ending???? Oh well, I guess. 🤷🏽♂️
Best show of the last few years stargirl is second yet both were cancelled. Fantastic ending but also very sad. It was a full circle the resolved their issues. I do think Rita should have stayed alive imo.
Immortus did keep Wally's promise to Cliff about seeing Rory grow up through the crystal she left behind and as sad as Rita's death and Cliff powering down, he was content in the end. Having said, Clara must be traumatized with Cliff dying on the spot like that with Rory in the car and what she will have to go through with the body and all, so I wish they would have ended it up better for him there for Clara's sake. I wish Dorothy was also included in the end as I did not care too much about Larry, Keeg and #104 storyline; it felt like they could have done more for each and everyone's arc or character ending. Imo, Cliff's, Rita and Jane were the best ending out of the rest of the characters, while the rest felt mediocre at best. I thoroughly loved Doom Patrol and while I can nit pick about Immortus and her threat in general, I am content with how the show ended and seeing Nile one more time, as well as Willoughby/Kiplin is just great. I'm gonna miss doom patrol
I agree but I'm someone who despises musicals so that makes me biased perhaps. To me it was the worst part of the entire season tbh 😭At least it was just one episode, but the first 10 mins were painful to get through man...
She passed away from rapidly aging, realized as a ghost that the Doom Patrol as a team is better off disbanded, then moves on to the afterlife (heaven i guess) where she finally reunites with her man who was killed by rouge back when she was in the sisterhood of dada
I have love/hate feelings toward this show. I love the cast, Matt Bomer, Brendan Fraser, April Bolby, Diane Guerrero, are all amazing. This was the first time I heard of Diane, but have been a fan of the rest for a long time, and their chemistry all together was great. The cast and chemistry is what kept me watching the show. Sorry for how late this video is! I'd love to hear your own thoughts on how Doom Patrol ended things! :)
Finally

As frustrating as it was for Max to hold off Part 2 of Doom Patrol S4 for almost a WHOLE year, I am very glad on how the show ended on its own terms
Cliff is one of the most enduring characters throughout all the incarnations of Doom Patrol. These characters saw wonderful development, their stories stayed rich with the comic book quirkiness of theme, and the endings were nicely done.
Im glad they brought niles back ,but it's a shame we didn't get to see danny / flex again. Even Dorothy didn't really get a proper farewells.
wtf even happened to her? lol
The last time we saw her was when she was trying to put Cliff in the wheelchair?
Tbh though the main cast absolutely did and Danny did.
Flex doesn’t need one and Dorathy would’ve been nice tbf.

That ending choked me up bad. This show is so powerful.
I agree, that this is the best live action DC show.
I just cried
Actually was perfect, drastic and dramatic
Was sad, bittersweet, complete

Although I am glad that Larry found love in Mister 104, but I just can’t help but be worried of him due to Rama being a doppelgänger of Bloodwork
LMAO
Cliff’s ending was the most emotional, every man should’ve felt that.

Loved the Grant Morrison run and the OG run. Loved this show. Great recap. What a ride.
I really liked doom patrol season 4 it was really amazing and sad but such a great finale to this amazing show in my opinion.
The last episode got me, it’s a bittersweet ending to such a great show 😢
Being a did system I related to Jane and Vic the most! The way their stories ended were tied up so well
Through all the Drama us DC fans had to deal with as of late if WB did anything right it was this show absolutely spectacular #DoomPatrol

My only question is why didnt rory age after becoming an adult in the montage? He was a grandfather, but looked the same age as his daughter.
Felt it in my throat.. lots of feelings
I cried so hard that i had an episode and needed my anxiety meds.
I just completed season 3 gonna watch season 4
Enjoy!

only seen the first 2 seasons Mitzi from the Whoniverse as madam rouge love it
And as weird as it was for how the show portrayed General Immortus in this adaptation, I kinda like Isabel as Doom Patrol’s final big bad
I LOVED THE MUSICAL EPISODE

@@bradastra6111 i agree. Casey and Rama are just plot devices to give jane and larry a happy ending without adding much to the story, especially casey

I stopped watching like 2 eps before it ended, the season really disappointed me but I look forward to your thoughts
I thought the back half was very weak but I'd suggest watching the finale
Definitely think part 2 of season 4 was better than part 1 it was a great season.
