This was such a great ending to a great show. Much better than Flash and Titans ending. Happy endings for everyone, even Cliff in his way. I’ll miss them.
They gave me so much joy throughout those 4 seasons. I wish we had more time with them, but I do love this finale. Jane painting her and Cliff was everything to me. ❤
To say that this episode was an emotional rollercoaster would be an understatement. I cried a little when I saw all of the different endings that the characters got, Especially with Cliff.
The ending with cliff is what made me cry for a good several minutes.. He finally got what he wanted, a life with his family even if it was short.. Getting to see Rory grow up and letting go after, dude had the best ending out of all of them even if it costed him his life.
This is the best DC show overall. It wasn't always perfect, but it was always amazing. It don't play by any rules, and it never held back. I'm really grateful they took the time needed to close out everyone's story.
This episode destroyed me. It's already sad when an amazing show ends, but to know that Cliff and Rita's stories won't be continuing after was hard to swallow, even if they both had amazing sendoffs. I honestly loved it. I do wish we'd gotten a bit more on Larry and Rama though apparently that was intentionally vague on the part of the writers.
As I said over on Twitter, when Kay started to sing "Ave Maria" I thought I was in for the saddest moment in the show. Instead, I found myself literally rolling on the floor laughing. The tears came later. This show is remarkable due to the fact that it never forgot what it was about. "It was the story of four superheroes. Just what the world needs. Or what if I told you it as actually a story about super-zeroes? Losers, achingly pathetic meta-human goose eggs. How about it? Ready to feel better about your own miserable lives for the next hour or so?" And I have to admit. Watching Rita's final act in this world was to blob out then explode in the most flatulent way possible did, for just a few minutes anyway, make me feel a bit better about my own miserable life. But gosh. I'm going to miss these goobers. Easily my favourite superhero show of all time. Correction: best super ZEROES. The best achingly pathetic meta-human goose egg show of all time. We will never see the likes of this again.
I kinda wished they let cliff get his second chance with rory to be there for him, that really tore me up seeing him pass after everything he went through
Doom Patrol has its ups and downs as a show, but for sure that very last scene with Cliff is I think maybe the best scene in the entire series. It reminds me a lot of the intro to Up where it tells an entire life story in just montage of a few minutes, fantastic.
You asked about Dorothy. There is a very good answer where she is and a very good reason why she wasn't in the last three episodes. Just rewatch the end of the dinner scene in the musical episode, when she decides to leave the Doom Patrol, and explains why.
Im going to miss these characters so much. I was hoping that this show would end with them being an official peak doom patrol but instead we got this and I am even more than satisfied because it just shows how they will always be imperfect but its what makes their experiences a beautiful journey.
Rita's story arc was about a control freak, perfectionist. In so many ways she was able to let go. Yes, her funeral was Doom Patrol messy... but she was able to let herself be messy and smelly and bloaty instead of taking it personally. Instead of needing to know her friends see her in a certain way, she faded out telling them it was okay. She didn't need to be honored, she didn't need to be the great actress. Her friends were there with her in her messiness and that was enough.
I also thought her arc was about achievement. She got her role as an actress through dirty deals and raw luck, but her family in the Doom Patrol, Larry, de Mille, and Malcom was something good she finally felt she earned for herself, even if it was less than glamorous. She could stop feeling guilty about these good things in her life, while still acknowledging her mistakes of the past. Her life wasn't perfect, but it became wholeheartedly hers.
I didn't expect "Kaleidoscope" -- > "Kay" though it was pretty obvious. Made me smile. And I had no idea that Rita, in death, would be reunited with Malcolm (that was his name, right?). That was beautiful. It was indeed weird that Dorothy wasn't there. We got Niles back last time, and we don't get Dorothy? And, yes, there are DVD sets for Seasons 1-3, and I hope they'll do one for Season 4.
It was an amazing finale , loved the resolution the characters got , especially cliff's and I am truly a going to miss this band of misfit heroes. Farewell doom patrol
I enjoyed it. Rita was my favorite, but I had a feeling thru the season that she wanted to rest. Glad she a good afterlife and her funeral cracked me up. Also the usage of Cannon's song :D Didn't think it would hit me, but Cliff's got to me. Love that his last line was "I made it home."

it was cool because jane was always just K, she was the original that's why she is always the "driver", she just had to accept what her father did to her
i read cliff is the only one to return in every doom patrol comic, also the spirt that takes over Isabelle is a character in the comics i believe and in the show a evil spirit!
First off, great reaction/review. What a finale. Man, what can you say about a show like this to sum it up in the way that would truly do it justice? I think ultimately in a time where comic book shows were a dime a dozen, Doom Patrol was a rarity. When meeting expectations(or not some of the time) was the standard, Doom Patrol didn't just exceed expectations but completely shattered the idea of how these kinds of shows could and should work. It never held back on the insanity and at the same time never sacrificed its story's integrity, and what a genuinely deep story it was from start to finish. Doom Patrol, you were the show we didn't know we needed, and I can't speak for everyone, but as someone who was around since the backdoor pilot, as a fan I'm better as a result. Thank You. 👏🏾👏🏾💐💐
I know this will never happen but it would be cool if they did like a one off movie or something where robotman got rebuilt and was with another team of “doom patrol” like in the comics ,
I'm totally enjoy it doom patrol is fantastic I believe a great finale to an amazing show I really enjoy this episode this is the final episode but I really loving it is incredible.
Why did they spend all that time building up Jane and fog lady just to have her end up with the pointless character that was Space Case? The only character who I felt had a decent ending was Cliff, and he DIED. Noone else's ending felt fulfilling.
I think Casey fits her a lot more and she obviously felt save and comfortable enough with her to be intimate in a way she never quite managed to do with the fog.
“It’s okay. I made it home.” That broke me. That was such a great ending.
Couldnt have ended any better.

Jane needs some color in her life. Someone who can balance her. Casey is that. Fog wasn’t going to be end game.

So if you're straight, you die, if you're gay, you find love and happiness. Quite the message they sent on that last episode, lol.
