I truly believe brad doesn’t know he’s making a tiny at home hairdresser army-
You would think but they don’t listen and still mess it up
Oh he knows 😭
He definitely knows
😂😂😂😂
Some of us evolved into full fledged hairdressers!
i’m not even a hairdresser and these are hard to watch. a quick google search of how toners work would help these people immensely lol
Lol We love the challenge though
Neither is brad

I can not believe that you reacted to my video. This was yrs ago, & I definitely knew nothing about levels and was terrified of bleaching my hair and having it all fall out as I've had that happen before. 😂😭😭😭 Thank you. I was not expecting to end up on your reacts 😭 so sorry Brad. 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️
Girl why tf did u leave ur shower on in the backround when u were fully out of the shower @11:40
@@cvnt5401 I just left the same comment before seeing yours 😂 I am just wired to cringe when I see people wasting water like that… it was EVERY clip when she was in the bathroom, the water was just on the whole time.
Girl, you have beautiful hair and are lovely, but what was with running the water endlessly for no reason in every clip? I went through a summer where our well (and everyone else in the area) dried out because of drought. I cringe any time I see someone wasting water like that. Just turn it off when you aren’t using it. Please! ❤
@@KG9551 people act like we arent in an ecological disaster rn 😩
Y’all okay I went and rewatched this. I’m so sorry that the water triggered so many ppl. 😅
Explanation… I live in Michigan and at the time it was winter and in the negatives, and we had to “drip” our tub so the pipes under our trailer didn’t freeze and we couldn’t use them. At first I thought it was the fan cause the odor was so bad but then I remembered why I’d have to run water.
I promise I was not trying to offend anyone I just was trying to keep our pipes from freezing 😭
I almost spit out my coffee when that girl said she used lime juice because she ran out of lemon juice and brad just took it over to pineapple and apple juice 😂
people should think of haircolor, as if they were regular markers. if you have a dark brown paper, the yellow marker isn't going to show up. if you have a yellow paper, the blue marker will turn green. etc.
Definitely. It's like people never played with colored paper and acrylic paint or water colors, or even crayons as kids.
Like: yeah! Unexpected things happen, when you randomly mix colors together!
And light color over dark color does not show up.
Just get some basic education on the thing, people!
This is how I like to explain it to people at work. I work at Sally's. I did experience something I didn't expect with my own hair. I was filling it after being bleached and colored green to go back black and I put bright red orange color over the green and it didn't turn muddy brown like expected. It turned this pretty dark red.
Yes! I've tried to tell my daughter that time and time again and she just ignores me and then whines when her hair doesn't come out.
Yeah but the theory stops there because adding purple to yellow would make brown
True!!
I can't believe after all these years of hair dresser reacts people still don't understand the concept of LEVELS OF COLOR 😩
I don't even dye my hair and I know all the levels now thanks to Brad 😂
THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS!!!
Levels and tone completely escape people. And not a single person understands how the color wheel works.
Your pink hair is absolutely stunning 😍
@@kariamber99 thank you 😊
Watching these always makes my $200 haircut feel really justified. By the time you buy all the supplies and the stuff to fix what you messed up, you could have just gone to a salon and called it a day 😭
bleaching at home is really hard to do right, but if youre just putting colour in it usually turns out well. i went from blonde to ginger and its super even and the exact shade i wanted it to be, and that was literally only $10
If what you're doing to yr hair only costs $100 - $200 every 4 months, then sure, just go to the salon. But if you have a high maintenance style, highlights & lowlights, or something else expensive, learning to do it yourself at least in between salon visits can save you $1k or more per year
Yeah but a lot of people (including me) have gone to many salons and had "professionals" absolutely RUIN their hair and had to pay a lot for that. I honestly rather messing it up by myself in my house for cheap than pay a lot of money for someone else to mess it up and treat me badly.
There are good professionals out there, but there are at least just as many mediocre and terrible, maybe even more. At least in my experience and the experience of everyone I know and everyone Ive ever talked to on the internet.
Same! I always watch these home videos and it just solidifies my conclusion even more to always go to a hairdresser😂
Not in Croatia and also hairdresser ruined my hair 🤷🏼♀️
I know it’s rough watching people using T18 but you know what’s worse? Having to sell it knowing they don’t want your help and will still just use it 😫💀 (sally manager here)
😣😣 Sally BA here, I fully agree
I literally argued with a customer who bought T18 for level 7 balayage ends. I was trying to explain to her that wasn't the right toner and she insisted it was. So I just let her be stupid.
Lol I've been on the other side of that, with bleach - it was hard to convince the store clerk that I plan to do a test strand and also I really, genuinely don't care what happens to my hair.
Whenever I go to Sally's, I literally try to find the manager bc they clearly know more than I do when it comes to the products. I don't understand people who don't. I would do it at any store. I'd rather find someone who can point in the right direction than stand in the same aisle for 30 minutes trying to figure out what I'm suppose to do 🤣
Thank you for your good work💜💜💜💜
Who else wishes they could just let Brad do whatever he wants to their hair?
We'd all be blonde! 😆
😁
Would love it!
Would be a dream come true! lol
Me I'd love it so much
anyone else kinda love the look of using a blue toner and it makes your hair ashy icy blue it's soooo cool
yeah overtoning isn’t bad as long as your hair is at the right level, it’ll start to fade out to platinum gradually❤️
@@shankeduu that's what my hair is going like rn, I whacked on a blue hair mask and my hair went icy blue haha
Agree, I love when it goes icy blue
my cousin dyed her whole head blue once (naturally golden-yellow blonde)
it faded into this beautiful, cool-toned, bluey/grey. was my favourite hair colour i've ever seen on anybody.
I accidentally toned my hair and it became grey and it looked soooo good. So now I dye my hair grey.
In 1999 I accidentally turned my hair legit silver using the wrong toner and I looked exactly like my grandma. I called a friend to take me to Sally's and I could hear him laughing at me from the car as I was coming down my porch steps. Luckily, 10 minutes of bleaching got it all out, but holy crap. 😂
Oh my god 😂😂😂
Laughing at you from the car took me out 😂😂😂😂😂😂

As much as I agree, I don’t think people like this would notice or take it seriously. The mistakes they made were very basic.

Brad: “it looks exactly the same”
😭💀I love how honest he is
“What the hell is lemon juice gonna do?” 😂😂😂 the way Brad said that took me out
I just toned my blonde hair yesterday. Mixed arctic fox purple and blue with hair conditioner. It worked!!! And it’s so much cheaper than buying these expensive toners!!! Thank you for teaching me the basics Brad ILY🥰
EDIT: to make it clearer - I used one squirt of each color and mixed it with a lot of hair conditioner. This way you dilute the color, making it less potent, but perfect for light toning.
Brilliant! Best part I think is artic fox is semi permanent and as far as I know most toners are permanent. You're saving yourself from more damage.
Toners aren't expensive though. Like less than 10 bucks, maybe 15 including the developer.
@@calliew311 yea i just checked Sally's website and Artic Fox is more expensive than toner. Wella toner was $7.99 and the Wella developer was $5.79 (for 16 oz). The 4 oz bottle of Artic Fox was $12.39. so Wella toner + developer = $13.78 and Arctic Fox two bottles, 1 purple 1 blue = $24.78. maybe it's cheaper where other people live but Arctic fox comes out almost double the price where i am.
@@anoziraflaminghot You can use the Arctic Fox many times though. The Wella toners are usually a one time use product. I've had a small bottle of Arctic Fox tone my hair 5-10x.
@@anoziraflaminghot Yeah but as you are diluting the Arctic fox with conditioner you can get several uses.
How did that first girl rock every single one of her eff ups? That is freaking sorcery!
👀😁
😳😄
Brad's toner wisdom is the reason I make sure my hair is bleached enough *before* applying toner....and why I stopped expecting purple shampoo to fix everything 😅
I never shampoo my hair after coloring, especially with semi-permanent dye, it also helps condition the hair after a bleach job so shampooing that out can revert it back to feeling straw like. After a dye job I usually let my hair go until it’s mad greasy for the best chance for my hair to bounce back, I also use it as a placebo effect to convince myself any residual dye still on my hair will continue to sink into my hair follicles and provide a longer lasting dye job 😅
I will never understand the logic behind making a whole fruit cocktail in your hair because it’s “natural” instead of simply using bleach.
I know....😆
Like, seriously! Lemon juice? Natron??
That's just further damaging your hair, without even doing anything. Just use the thing, that's specifically formulated by experts for the purpose 👍
@@raraavis7782right like I always just thought they didn’t wanna buy more bleach lmao I didn’t realize ppl think it’ll be better 😭💔
“Why not do pineapple juice? Why not do apple juice?” Why not do a margarita because you’re gonna need it when you see your hair.
@@raraavis7782 I’m thinking the reason she used lemon juice is because citrus fruits have vitamin C in it. So I’m thinking that she used the lemon juice as a form of a vitamin C treatment to get out the dye. And from what we’ve seen from previous videos, that doesn’t work either.
yall i looked up how to lighten hair naturally cuz im broke💀

I was SO PROUD when I was trying to get my bleach blonde back to my natural ash blonde. I used a 7N toner and it literally matches so well you can’t even see my roots 😍 thank you for being my spiritual hair guide
👀 oooh great job!
@E K thank you so much! ❤️ this was actually my lighter hair. My hair is now a bit darker, just a few shades (:
My natural hair is a copper auburn and can I just say I have learned going blonde is not easy. I have had hairdressers refuse to dye my hair blonde constantly. They would either go darker or just highlight the copper. I have been blonde only twice in my entire life, first time it looked like a damn caramilk chocolate bar (kiwi aussies will understand this color). the second time it was so choppy and these were professionals like 15+ years. Now at my age I'm starting to go grey, but my grey is actually the blonde color I was trying for... just not enough of it.
Just wanna say that since binge-watching your videos, I gave myself a big trim and curtain bangs and my haircut turned out so pretty that my sister actually thought I had gone to a salon lmao, thank you so much brad!!! I've always loved hair care and styling and now it's a full on obsession thanks to you
If you have brown hair, you gotta be a golden retriever in there for a bit before you get that platinum. The second girl, oof I’ve been that golden retriever color.
your username just made me cackle, bless you
I feel like brad needs to come out with a toner. One that will work on super orange hair for all the dIYers!
toner won’t make orange hair platinum, though. 😭 that’s the whole point u need to be lifted a lot and at most have some pale yellow tones, he said this
@@shankeduu Nobody said platinum though. You can get toners for brunette hair to make it cooler toned. Toners don't always equal wanting a platinum result 🤷🏾♀️
@@lucilleberkington6624 huh? these ppl are all trying to tone their blonde hair did u watch the video? if you’re trying to cover orange hair back to brown you’d need brown dye or to lighten it further. wym 😂😂
I think what Zoe means is a neutralizing level 7 or 8 toner. One to turn orange hair into a nice neutral medium blonde.
You can get an 8a or a 7aa but her hair is going to be brown not blonde. She isn’t light enough and even brad couldn’t do magic like that unless he tells you to bleach again lol
Brad is 100% correct about people not understanding levels, because honestly the concept of coloring hair is freaking easy: (1) bleach to the correct LEVEL, then (2) tone or color for the correct SHADE. You'll never get the desired shade if you don't start with the appropriate level.
Brad!!!! You changed my hair!!! I went from dark amethyst to blonde so I could do mermaid / unicorn colors and your recommendations for the best bleach from Sally's video , is part in what helped me do it. It's amazing. I've gotten so many compliments from hair dressers themselves even. You rock.
The second girl should learn to save water and turn it off.
That was a fan cause the Wella toner odor was strong 😭

I seriously wish Brad had a service where we could pay him to give us a consult. Like I cut a section of my hair fill out a form about what color I'd like, send it in with a fee. Then a while later he emails back what my best color options are for my hair( in my case highlighted, processed, thinner). With suggestions of what processes and products to use. It would be worth the money for professional advice that is personalized to my hair structure and type. I could avoid massive home hair fails.👍😊
or you could just go to a hairstylist itd be the same thing lol
@@annelbamelendez1083 I've gone to a few local stylist. It's a small town and they are not able to keep up with new styles, coloring, and product trends. So I'd prefer to pay someone like Brad for a long distance consult so I'm going to end up with directions I can follow or even bring to a local stylist to ask if they can follow it. At least I'll end up with a much better outcome. I'd you live in a larger city I totally agree that a stylist is an option. Unfortunately my area is a small town almost like a little village. We have 1 barber, a supercuts and a salon insideof Wal-Mart, and 1 privately owned salon.so pickings are slim here.
this is actually genius! and i believe it'd be a lot more affordable than a stylist. I paid my stylist 120$ to bleach n color my black hair blonde. and now i do my own hair and would love a personalized hair consultation.
@@audisnewbeginning8616 But in that case nobody would be able to do the service for you properly. The best thing you can do is just educate yourself- if you have to do it yourself you should be educated to know what you should use for your hair type and condition. It is not that difficult to find all of that info.
@@diamondmccraney2024 $120 for bleach is dirt cheap for a salon!

Hey Brad just wanna say thank you. I'm a bit weird with being touched by strangers (the hairdresser 😅). Never been brave enough to dye my hair or bleach it but you gave me the confidence. My hair looks great thank you so much Brad.
I love how people think a toner takes out color. it does not in fact remove color. It neutralizes it because opposite colors on the color wheel create brown. So depending on how dark or light you want that brown, that's the levels you lift and then tone it to.
you’re literally an icon

He’s the best 💛
*us
So... just wanted to add an "also" in here ( just mid way watching the first girl) However, If you use Revlon's version of a color remover it does say on the box that it removes permanent hair color dye. What they do not tell you is (unless you study the website) Revlon color remover is supposed to be used the same way you do a bleach bath on your hair. If you don't, it could damage your hair. But, if you use it like a bleach bath, it will literally get anything out of your hair with minimal damage. ( Or at least less than bleach, bleach) 🤔😅
Thank you! They should have this on the box
@Makai Threads ok, every persons hair is not the same and this did work on my hair so sorry you feel it's untrue

As I’m sitting here with “piss yellow” hair, I’m just thinkin…THANK GOD for this video!
Just like Brad said T18 is a permanent toner so it will burn your scalp especially on a freshly bleached head. It works fine to tone a virgin bleach job but I think it's too harsh to use for subsequent touch ups because it compromises the hair even more and the hair is already bleached. I much prefer semi or demi permanent toners, I think the best ones are the Shades EQ line from Redken.

Also Brad: “I’m a little surprised and also not surprised that that worked”

Clarifying shampoo mixed with vitamin C tabs have saved me in so many hair emergencies
It works better if the hair is still wet and the toner is not permanent and if the toner hasn’t been on long...not after permanent hair color that’s been left on for 45 minutes.Unfortunately..but I have done that with toner that’s been applied to wet hair already because the toner is a bit diluted and it was a Demi color toner so it worked in that case.

If you have learned anything from the friendly stylists in the back:
Sally’s is great, Sally’s employees are amazing. The issue is Sally’s doesn’t require staff to have a cosmetology license. They throw their employees to the wolves in that part of the job. It’s just not like the most accurate advice for the products and process. Now don’t be dissing Sally’s anyone!!
Thank you ! I work at Sally's and I didn't have any experience in cosmology and I still got the job. I really wish the company would emphasize that we can advise but we're NOT experts. Take everything with a grain of salt 👏🏼👏🏼
@@zoulara1012 people can’t really grasp that just because a person works somewhere, they are sometimes just trying their best ya know? If a person takes only the advice from one employee and didn’t even ask Dr Google, I wish them the best.
As a Sally employee, I entirely agree. However, I'm psyched because they added more training for us recently!
And thankfully at my location, half of our employees are licensed so we often get a lot of insight and extra learning. ☺️
We're also pushed to remind people that we are NOT professionals
Having a cosmetology license and working at Sally's doesn't automatically make you more qualified. A new girl I work with is licensed and doesn't know crap about toners. Sure she is familiar with whatever brand her school used, but she doesn't know that Wella toners are for level 10 blondes only. I literally watched her recommend a Wella toner to someone with too dark of hair. She also isn't familiar with any of the hair care Sally's sells. So the moral is if you aren't familiar with products your license doesn't help. I've experienced first hand that Well a toner only works on level 10 blonde. I tried it once on level 6 or 7 orange hair and it nothing. I ended up bleaching again and using Ion Snow Cap toner instead.
i work at sallys and often recommend people just watch one of brads videos quickly before doing anything. i also specialize in vivid color, not naturals lol
I honestly don’t care that much about hair and hair products but I really like the enthusiasm you have, and passion
Thanks, Brad! Super helpful for an at home blondie.
Brad; my grandma was one of the blue haired ladies. Her hair mesmerized me.
I've over-toned my hair on numerous occasions... Usually it's on the lavender side (because as Brad mentioned I'm toning out yellow) but I've also been a bit too grey/silver before. When this happens the first thing I do is shampoo my hair several times in a row with a cleansing shampoo. Basically if you want to avoid using it on dyed hair because it'll make your color fade more quickly than that's the one you want. Shampoo, rinse, shampoo, rinse, shampoo, rinse- check the color- and when it's faded enough than I condition the hell out of it. Give this a shot before doing a bleach bath because it's less damaging and more cost effective. ✌️
Brrraadddd. Looking super fly in this video! KILLIN' the style game. 🤩
