This is one of those songs that I never heard before, and now if I ever hear the original, it will be missing Julia's playing
Absolutely my thoughts when hearing this!
Check out willow's tiny desk, this is the first song they play. Im willing to bet that Mohini Dey's playing is what inspired julia to pick up this song as she follows some of the ideas haha
@@gabrielbotelho7809 I will definitely do that, thank you!
This happens every time on every song...I feel like something is missing, And i'm like: oh yeah Julia haha
Almost 40 years playing drums and she always adds something to the percussion side that is fresh and fluid. Her playing is inspirational to so many musicians. Wouldn’t you agree?
Kudos to Julia for choosing a piece of music that features one of the great, young bassists in the world, Mohini Dey. Aim for the Stars!
There's a music piece called "Day by Dey" that she plays with Gergo Borlai. The video is 8 years old now, but still present on his channel. It was the first video of her that I've seen and I still can't believe it's 1x speed. It's like the scene from the Matrix: "Take a look at that neurokinetics they're way above normal". 🤯
Mohini only plays in Willow's live band, Chris Greatti played bass on the recording
@@naccienac Thanks for the clarification
OMG, ever since this song release I've been thinking 'Julia's cover would be perfect' AND I WAS RIGHT
MY THINKING TOO!! So glad to see a Julia cover 😍
brooo even just the original track is a JAM. and your bass line just adds that much more life to it!
One of the best bass covers of Julia... this one blow my mind!!!
Drummer/musician for 30 yrs here. Julia, your feel is something special. Thank you for keeping this old journeyman inspired.
✌️🙏
Sublime again! You and Mohini Dey, both awesome bass players!
You definitely know that shit's really about to go down when Julia brings out that kinda bass face! 🎶🎶
She just keeps doing it. She makes songs so much better and then her versions are the only ones I want to hear. 😊
I fucking love this song and I adore your bass skills!! What an amazing combination! I love this bass rendition
Incredible as always. You really are amazing. I shared your Ariana Grande cover with Leo Lopez from Lakland in Chicago. He was blown away and asked how he could get a hold of you. I think they'd like to get to know you. All the best Julia.
That chorus is sick but the fills/runs in the bridge are insane. I just learned about this band and I love their vibe and their tiny desk concert was amazing.
Nah Willow is clearly a studio artist. Her live voice is totally off key.
@braveheart9097 ua-cam.com/video/_hZATd_uKr8/v-deo.html Like I said, I'm new to her music, so maybe she's had terrible live shows but... her vocal talent/range is indisputably displayed in the Tiny Desk concert. Maybe its just not for you.
@@King_Mephisto I'm a vocal coach. I saw the same Tiny Desk performance you did and it I thought it was clear that she is a studio artist only. She cannot hit certain notes properly without the help of ProTools. Share that video with any other vocal coach and see what he/she says about her "vocal talent/range" being "undisputed....
really digging this lakland julia era 😀😀
This is how I discover music and artists that I'm unfamiliar with. Thanks Julia!💛
PLEASE EXCUSE TYPO. TYPING IN THE DARK.
You know, true, just like me!
You're more likely rediscovering her, as this is Willow "I WHIP MY HAIR BACK AND FORTH" Smith. She has clearly come a long way.
I really like your work, I bought a bass and started practicing because of you, I didn't even hear the sound of the bass in the songs, but now I don't listen to anything else❤❤ hello from Brazil
Such a great song and now it's even better with the Julia treatment!
It's pretty great we can just listen to dope songs with dope bass turned up 10db from the release version. What a time to be alive.
You must really like that Lakland bass. This is the third song in a row that you have played it when you usually rotate through the collection.
Lakland is a class above the basses she has and it's 35" with a monster B string. Her playing is the most important, but this bass sounds a lot better to me as well.
I don’t watch a lot of her videos but yes, she does play a lot of sterlings.
Not surprised - they're great basses . I have two myself
this bass sounds absolutely amazing. julia has great tone with a cheap bass but this thing is on another level. I am definitely a fan of julia and it wouldn't break my heart if she only played this bass moving forward I think it sounds incredible
You have introduced me to so many new songs and artists, and the fact there's a ripping bassist highlighted on the recording makes it absolutely bump in my truck. Thanks Jules.
Major Geddy Lee vibes on this one!!! Every time... You knock me out! 🥊
You really are the *Silent Assassin.*
💜💫✌🏼🎵
*Actually... This ia MAJOR Julia vibes!!!*
Just listened to the original.
I stand corrected and love it even more! (If that's possible?) 😉
*is ⬆️ (Oops!)
Mohini Dey, tough act to follow, but you're a brave & absolutely capable bassist, Julia, bravo!
I just started learning that bass part yesterday! Super fun song and a great cover
Wow! That was just wonderful. You knocked it out of the park. You are very talented. Congrats for choosing this song and killin' it too.
You totally blast it, love how you are in it, feeling the details of the line ! Congrats.
She improves in all dimensions. Amazingly beautiful.
Beautiful, masterful job,as always,Julia!! I'm like most,if not every one of your subscribers here... I SO look forward to your next post!! Always makes my day when I see you've posted!! Thank you again,Julia!!
I’ve never heard this song before and I stumbled on this video by accident last week. Since then I’ve watched it 10x times. Addictive.
Mohini Dey pride of India..thank you for covering this..!! Loved it!!
The moment I heard this song I knew Julia wouldn't resist covering it. Breathetaking as always!!
The tone on this one absolutely RIPS julia!!! Consistently awesome tone and playing I love your covers. I'm pretty sure I could listen to nothing but you playing bass and I would be satisfied forever.
I already loved this song when I first heard it. You made it even better! So amazing! 🙌🏽❤️
Awesome performance, as always! Dziękuję! And once again, I must thank you for presenting a great artist to someone who didn't know about her, and this time it was Willow. Really good song with beautiful harmonies, and with another time signature than just the usual 4/4 thrown into it. Now you have me hooked on Spotify to listen to more songs.
Julia's probably the best in the world right now.
Bingo. It’ll take the world about 5-10 years before people feel safe to say so. There are certainly hundreds of players at or above her level from a purely technical standpoint. But it’s her musical genius that sets her apart from the rest. She makes that thing talk, sing, whatever she wants it to. She makes songs better with ease. And nobody else sounds like her.
empolga não. pipoquinha, braguinha, vincen garcia, tiago andree etc etc etc
Nah.. Henrik Lender from Dirty Loops..
@@montreauxs ya think?! Heinrich's great know.
Honestly while Henrik Linder is definitely the more virtuosic of the two, I think compositionally Julia is almost as good as Henrik.
Julia I love that you heart all the comments! And that you're self taught! Bravo
genuinely didn’t think this song could get any better but you took it to the next level, incredible performance!
Like that run that joins the melody, nice playing.
Relentless. Your playing is beautifully relentless. 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Math rock/Progressive rock spice sprinkled! Nice one
Great addition! Also I instantly fell in love with the use of the Everything-Chords in this piano riff, so beautifully and subtly jazzy.
what's everything chords?
Spectacular! This album is 🔥 and you've made it even better. I love hearing the different sounds you're digging into on the Lakland too! These basses are killers with all the different sounds you can get from them, P to J to MM to hybrid craziness. That bass is definitely in the right hands!🤘🏻
Diving into tasteful jazz with a touch of prog with this one - You really can play everything, Julia!
What an absolute unit of a bass line.
I didnt knew or heard the original song, but the bass line is amazing. Congrats.
Офигенно! Импровизация на отлично!
YES! I'm so glad you're hitting this one! Fun meter songs are fun!
Of course you were gonna do this cover! I love that you personalized it but kept the nuances tasteful and didn’t change the basic melody. One more listen 🤗
Breathtaking!! Amazing play!
You're virtuous of greatest kind!
Thank you for the talented bass play!
❤❤❤❤
I so look forward to Julia's posts. That last run was fire!🔥✌🏽🤎🎶
This is unreal! In the pocket like crazy, funky, harmonically interesting. Amazing!
Wow that hits so much stronger than the original! This song would make a great piece for a drum-bass-piano trio.
Awesome. Vibes of Tal Wilkenfeld. Loved the interpretation. Cheers!
Julia, amazing job!! That bass line sounds great. Keep going ❤
I thought this song was a 13/10 before I heard this and now I can add to the songs I like way more after Julia has helped me appreciate them more. What a time to be alive.
Geez man……you just keep getting better! One of your best!! Thanks for introducing me to an new song and artist once again.
OMG I love this song so much! 😍🥹 Your bassline is absolutely beautiful!! Listened to to the song on Spotify and was thinking, Julia could play along to it 😂 Just had to smile while listening to your version! It's such a treat!
Hi Julia. Your playing is so tasteful. Wonderful combination of technique and, even more important, feeling and musicality! Love it! Keep it up! 🙂
Killer! Love that you left the dead spot for the vocal "yeah".
Your playing is so GOOD especially with headphones & that Lakeland is beautiful,,, have a great day 🎸🤠
I listened to the original after watching this and it just wasn’t the same without Julia’s playing
Amazing like always Julia!!! It is always an enormous pleasure to watch and listen to you perform! Success and blessings to you!!
another winner julia! you're so damn good! shred on young lady!! 😁👍🏻
Julia, your playing is truly remarkable and always at a high level 👌. Your bass cover of Willow is outstanding once again🎸. Keep up the amazing work! 🤘
omg what a sick 5 string, and such insane chords!??? whoa
completely insane omgggg you are so incredible
This cover is amazing! Great song to do some of those crazy lines
I could watch you all day girl 😂. Subbed after 'come back and stay ', Paul Young. Been a bit down recently but you've put a smile 😂back on my face. Quite wonderful. Lots of love from Glasgow.🎉
When I tripped over this track the other day, wondered how soon you'd get all over it with a killer baseline... And there you go, coming up with the goods in spades, again... Nice work. :-)
Yeeeeeessss, loving the new Willow tracks, and your cover was amazing!
Love it! Gosh, you always make the songs sound better 😊
Request: Chappell Roan! "After Midnight" especially has a fun/funky bass line, and you'd add more fun to it!
The tone and Structure and your playing ,AMZING!!!!!
Was waiting for this one! The original bass track grooves hard but you took it to another level!
At this point, I'm convinced that Julia and a bass are the key to achieving world peace.
I would never go out of my way to listen to Willow, but this cover just opened my mind. After this I feel like you should do some Dream Theater ;)
Beautiful Lakland! Sounds amazing!
Another artist i knew nothing about but am immediately struck by. Thanks Julia!
Thank you Julka for this beautiful piece. So fluid! You are the lyric poet of the bass guitar.
Yooooo I love your feel on that bass clean and rich sound keep up the Amazing work
Whew.. very nice! I recently got my first 5 string after many years of playing only 4 and it's inspiring to see what's possible with that added low string. The added bass makes this song really special! :)
Love watching you kick ass on that bass. Great feel
The musicality of this line is impressive. Love it. Looks like it was fun to play.
Class Julia! Love discovering new music from you
WOW! Very smooth and nice. Good job. Loved it.
You're an inspiration. Nice bass. Love you, Julia
Great job! Another great tune! Thanks for sharing! 👍❤️💪
Awesome job as usual Julia!! Can't wait till you get big and we can see you on Tiny Desk!
Soon as I heard this track i knew it was an only a matter of time before Julia covered it 😂 Amazing as always!
This is such a good song and you made it even better.
I had a feeling you'd take on one of the new Willow songs just because of the interesting complexity. I'm really digging her new album and of course you always add a masterful touch to the songs you pick.
Beautiful. Just beautiful work ❤
Excellent choice & performance as always 👍👍
about 20 more days of school left, and this will help propel me to the end!!! That Lakland is awesome!!
Wow! I hear Rush (Geddy Lee) bassist vibes in 7/4 time!🎵🎵Julia, Mohini, Pocket Lady and Willow are like polished diamonds.
I just watched Fusion Fest. Really, very good!!! A real treat.
Consistently amazing. As always, thank you for sharing your gift.
Well played and thank you for giving this artist some more light!
Another Banger! Julia kills it every time! I have to get this bass player for my band before Dua Lipa hires her for the tour AND the studio. You are the real deal, Julia!!
wow notevolissima prestazione! Molto creativa. Complimenti from Italy
Julia with the fresh grooves again!!
That was fantastic. Great facility and technique
thank you Julia
It's like seeing someone hacking the matrix in real-time, moving between reality and minor glitches where she can squeeze some groove that the song never knew it had before.
Creativity, exploration, discovery. It's simple but I like the way you put it
Very imaginative bassline, great work!
