► LYRICS:
pushing and peeling myself out of my disguise
looking at you now i am wondering who am i
if i could try to take you back i couldn't define
feeling
absence of time
knowing
all is decided
there's nothing
here left to find
the story's all in my mind
pushing and peeling the layers
that cover my mind
looking into the shadow
now i notice the light
magic is real
when you see it inside
you decide
it's like a snake shedding skin
creating
life to begin and all you know has vanished again
transcending
virtue and sin
feast my eyes on lower things
while beauty is a symptom of life
gotta decide if i'm gonna see it
why
feast our eyes on lower things
when suffering is craving the light
gotta decide how we’re gonna heal it
why
feast my eyes on lower things
while beauty is a symptom of life
gotta decide if i'm gonna see it
why
feast our eyes on lower things
when suffering is craving the light
gotta decide how we’re gonna heal it
why
yeah
gotta decide how we’re gonna feel it
i am trying to find out
gotta know
that life is fragile
gotta know
but
gotta go
i stood in awe
inside a temple
of a god i didn't know
wanna go
find the one
who understands
why we wait for pain to change us
to let me know
that life is fragile
it's like a turtle in sand
making
way to the ocean
almost
meeting the end
because the
birds are in motion
feast my eyes on lower things
while beauty is a symptom of life
gotta decide if i'm gonna see it
why
feast our eyes on lower things
when suffering is craving the light
gotta decide how we’re gonna heal it
why
feast my eyes on lower things
while beauty is a symptom of life
gotta decide if i'm gonna see it
why
feast our eyes on lower things when suffering is craving the light
gotta decide how we’re gonna heal it
why
yeah
gotta decide how we’re gonna feel it
i am trying to find out

THANK YOU for reminding the world that catchy songs can have musical complexity, and reminding music geeks that complex music can still be catchy.
💯💯💯
Seriously this should be the #1 comment.
This 100!!!
Don't think music geeks ever thought that complex music can't be catchy.
Exaaaactly. Brilliant song
she's got the type of talent that will allow people to forget her family tree and just indulge in her art. rare considering she is who she is.
No pun intended I presume (sorry)
all puns always intended @@cooldebt 😁ahaha
Smh yall kill me
Agree she is talented
Ridiculous. She’s who she is BECAUSE of her family tree. Her entire family is extremely talented. All self made successful artist. The rest is all BS.
She literally just laid there and it was incredible.
we can thank the director for that aspect. and her mama nem who made her so gorgeous.
To whoever is listening to this song now, wherever you are.... Sending you love, peace, healing and all good wishes. May your life be good❤
Back at cha ❤sending love & peace ✌️ your way too
Namaste ❤
Thank you so much actually 😁❤️☀️
Same to you!!!
Thank you. Wishing you well too!
WILLOW is so creative with her musical direction, but we're not giving enough credit to her producers for the amazing instrumentals
love when producers and artists synchronizeeeee🫶🏿
We hanged our harps Upon the willows in the midst thereof. Psalm 137:2
He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree. Ezekiel 17:5
WOW!!!!!!
She tries hard but just doesn’t do it for me I’m sure she had her team
Nope ...can't
I love that she's in a space where she can be a real ARTIST.
YES omg
Makes me realize how much having to work "a real job" has changed me. I used to art for a living, but the poverty became unbearable.
Exactly what I thought. She's an authentic artist. Breaking down stereotypes and showing .capacity for creativity that includes so many different sounds.
For real, she is talented... but god money helps a ton.
how hard is it for her to be in a space to be a 'real artist' when she has multi-millionaire parents with connections? while everyone else has to slave away at a job or are forced to attend college in hopes of upward mobility, she gets to 'explore' herself musically without a care in the world. she speaks of 'existential concepts' without having never known what is was like to go hungry, worry about finances, or wonder how she's going to come up with $$ for studio time.
this song is an absolute masterpiece. I am beyond shook
SAME! My husband played this for me last night without showing me who it was and I thought it was Amy Lee from Evanescence! Willow is so incredibly talented
Middle aged woman here, just discovered Willow. She is so fresh anb unexpected. Love this song so much!
Hearing 7/4 in a pop song is class 🤌
Can’t wait to hear more of what she creates
Absolutely
lol hearing it is easy but seeing your comment that you know what 7/4 is, is the cool thing
@@IkeOg most don't. i love it.
Odd time signatures are so cool once you understand them. Hopefully more stuff like this comes around in pop going forward
The alt/pop rock, r&b and jazz influences on this track are so crazy it’s like sounds from all her best songs from her best era’s MASTERPIECE
It’s literally a perfect mix/balance of all the things! So hard to do but i love it.
jazz fusion for real. She put everything in it
She Need To Help Jaden Out With His Music 😂
I think its called math rock genre
Sounds like an epic anime intro song
Did not think id arrive at a point in life where i wanna hear a 3way collab between willow, paramore and jill scott
I don’t know who paramore is but I could definitely get behind Willow and Jill Scott!
Well dang. The trio I didn't know I needed.
@@Creyole Pleaseee go listen to Paramore 😩😩😩😩 one of my fave bands back in the day
I was thinking this song gives Hayley Williams' Petals for Armor vibes lol
Willow whipped out the Math Rock. Music Nerds REJOICE!!!!!!!
this is not math rock.
It is clearly inspired. Pay attention to the tempo.@@Mathias_101Music
It most definitely is.. just picture it with guitars instead of piano.. 30+ years of playing.. and building instruments.. this is mathy AF.. very modern "jazzy" as well
@@capturedbyjupiter Ah ok, but instrument selection creates genre aswell no? Never heard a math rock song with vocals either. This song goes from 7/4 to 4/4. so that time signature change makes it math rock? mkay. Who cares what we call it tho, it sounds so lovely.
@@capturedbyjupiter being mathy doesnt make it math rock. plenty of jazz is plenty mathy.
this is obviously a pretty unique style, but it sits somewhere in a jazz-pop fusion space.
this is one of the most unique songs I've heard in the past decade. really.
Preach 🤌🏾✨
She loves what she’s doing-no argument there. But she’s no phenomenal singer
There's a lot of unique songs that this song borrowed elements from, you just probably didn't hear them cause they're not mainstream
We hanged our harps Upon the willows in the midst thereof. Psalm 137:2

im glad that she found the genre that truly fits her.
YES, everything find their place
She has many genres stop boxing
Well the phase / box she's in now compliments her beautifully. ❤
Tf you mean? She made her own genre lol
She does it well.
I'm 60 And You Just Knocked Me Over The Head With This One. Most Definitely Grammy Worthy Material. Excellent Song Willow! ❤
Willow Smith is flying under the the radar as a amazing talent
it's for the best !
Not anymore lol
Honestly, I think this is the best song I've heard so far this year. When I saw it was Willow Smith, I had to do a double take - but that's my fault I guess for being ignorant of her music - I had no idea she was so gifted. Looking forward to seeing what else she has made if this is anything to go by.
If this is your first time listen to her, pls go back on her albums they are sooooooo good
If you like this listen to her song alone. The arrangement is phenomenal
🙋🏾♀️ Guilty
Willow has real good music you need to go listen
Some songs I recommend of hers are alone, curious/furious, why, come home, lonely road, time machine, and gajendra.
she has that beautiful energy around her and you can feel it in her music, the production, the vocals

Beautiful 😍❤️❤️
Totally agree❤her!!!!
I agree
She's Willow Smith, she's surrounded be yes men/women, so everything she does the reaction is "Yes, omg that's amazing." Which is why the music sounds like this
I almost cried hearing this for the first time, it’s been a really long time since I’ve heard something unique and different, it’s been a while, lately I’m just rediscovering old music because i feel like nothing new is as good, but this, this restored my passion towards music again, u talking about feasting your eyes, while I’m feasting my ears and mind with this, u probably ain’t reading this, but, thanks Willow
Check out Jacob Collier. You might like his music.
Next check out the newer stuff from Knower and Louis Cole. Mindblowing songs.
@@lilachavez1173I LOVE HIM AND THAT SONG “Feel” OMG
Omg sameeeeee😫😫💕
My arrangements may not be as good as Willow's but I just released an EP under my name that I think you would like. I am accidentally creating a new genre and if you're looking for something unique I think you will find it in my music. It's under "Izzy Savides"
Billie and Willow on a song together would be chefs kiss🤌🏻
This is… gorgeous. My ears are so happy. Willow, I’m a fan. 🙌🏾❤️

This song sounds like it would be the outro of an anime. I love it.
For real
my thoughts exactly! it's the detuned piano and "skippy" drums
OMG...it does!!❤❤❤❤
Yes, while I was listening to it it reminded me of one the Tokyo Ghoul intro/outro.
IKRRR
This is a wild time signature on the beat......Ecclectic at best.....Solid🔥🔥
She is intensely powerful. I love her songs.
Nahhhhh this song is crazy. Crazier to think we first heard Willow's music like almost 15 years ago. And somehow she's still pushing herself to grow and try new things
The way I absolutely forgot about the iconic Whip My Hair until reading this comment!! 🤯 time flies !
She was 9 when that song was released so not really surprising her music is still evolving, she's only 23 it will evolve more no doubt...
I agree with you 💯 % . Willow needs to grow and mature in vocal cords. You can't give her higher potential b/c of her parents. If she was an ordinary singer like so many others on VOICE and other non celebrity talent shows. So many singers sing nicely, but Willow voice needs stronger process in vocal cord range. She sounds like she is singing from the back of her throat. Her voice isn't fully developed. Yes, I watched VOICE, WHO HAS TALENT etc...
You actually have people who can sang, sing, plus song 🎵 🎶 another artist with perfectly arranging vocal cords hitting those notes that Willow can't do. You actually have singers who can sing w/o music background. Sorry Willow, but Nah.
What's crazier is Ice Spice and Willow were born the same year.
This song was so refreshing because it doesn't sound like anything else out right now, yet it was still fun to listen to.
Kayla ❣️ Marke is similar to WS
exactly it was fun, upbeat and felt good to hear
wrong, listen to more music LOL
It sounds like you're talking about only listening to a specific mixture of music that's currently being released, but this is a genre that's been made for a very long time you just have to listen to more music
This is what I neeeed
She just did a Tiny Desk Concert. AWESOME
She totally watched Tokyo Ghoul
Maybe the producers did?
Saw the first season of that years ago but curious what about this is giving tokyo ghoul? Can't remember

Even the first 10 seconds was epic that I knew I had to check this out after watching his video of it.
Some people don't have the ear to appreciate how amazing this production is. It's complex rhythmically, melodically, harmonically, it's switching up time signatures. Imho it's operating on a slightly higher vibration to what we’re hearing on top 40 radio. I don’t know if radio would even want to play this

This is some seriously avant-garde jazz/R&B/funk fusion and I'm here for every note.
There's so much happening sonically in this song. It lets you know that she really loves music and is inspired by a lot of different genres.
Its like Willow is taking directions and cues from the universe instead of social trends. This young lady must have tapped into something mystical, spiritual, and unseen. I'm here for it.
Song of the year.
The cadence, the selected flow, the tone. Jeez Louise . This is incredible .. SO beautiful. Out of this world creativity
Yessss
This has a 90's alternative touch to it
Like a baby Bjork vibe
Yeah also some Tori Amos
Yes. Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, and hints of Bjork.
Yall just be saying anything 😂
She's got it all in there. Vocal melody start off like Tove Lo 'Bitches', a few Janelle Monae flourishes, Bjork, Bush, lol. #lovely
I noticed how she has been scatting and covering different old jazzy rock songs and this song reflects it a lot. She’s so dope
THE WIND IN THE TREES WERE BLOWING MATHEMATICS 🤯
This may be her most mature song yet... sonically, vocally, melodically. The chorus also
this entire arrangement, so dynamic, so beautiful, THIS WILL BE HER BEST PROJECT FOR SURE.
one of the best songs I've heard. Thank you for such beauty. The arrangement is amazing
I'm a tool fan, electronic, drum n bass, alt rock, soul, blues......Yet i'm here completely addicted to this sound.
It's bloody good hey. I'd say there's even some Tool influence in this song. That sweeping guitar that comes in at 1:56 sounds very similar to Lost Keys (Blame Hofman).
I am so happy to hear her blend all her influences. Rock, folk, alternative, and soul.🤌🏾💅🏾❤️
It's so beautiful
There's some Kate Bush sounds in there to me
R&B as well
Some of the runs, yes Ma’am ❤
A mixture of just great music.
Let's face it, Rock as in really Rock music wasn't for her, she didn't like the fans and the fans didn't like her, so it's great that she's doing what's her real self, pop music.
The keys, the bass, the drums, the vocals, the dynamics, the harmony....... breathtaking!🙌🏼
And the 7/4 in the verse!

The sound is very chaotic and soothing at the same time. Her voice is rich and full-bodied with a staccato flow. I REALLY LiKE THIS! impressive production and execution.

She looks alot like her mom Jada
I truly cannot get over this vocal performance.
She’s getting better and better ❤

There is so much imagery in the lyrics. Groove makes me have it on repeat. I’m 49 and normally an 80s rock, 90s grunge. Oh. And Whitney. Can’t stop thinking about the GOAT. Folk, Jazz, but this. Jeesh. She is textbook perfect. PERFECT!
Willow has tremendous talent and depth of humanity. She could have taken the easy way out, riding on her rich and famous parent's coattails, but instead she insists on being relevant in her own right and bringing something unique and needed to the table. That's hard for anyone to do, but especially when you have so many ass-kissers and yes-people and energy vampires circling all the time... to still be able to make a little space and find and express your own magic is quite the feat. I'm so grateful I get to witness her creative journey.
you're an incredible songwriter. The lyrics, the instruments... perfect
Willow is such a creative artist! I love how she keeps evolving musically 💖
Willow effortlessly flows through different eras and genres. I hope I can see her live soon 🤎
Here here
I fell in love with willow when I heard the album “the 1st” and realized how meaningful the lyrics were. She has the soul of a philosopher, a spiritual seeker, someone who’s truly devoted to find meaning in this deep ocean we call life. And to put that in her music is a big act of courage and truthfulness in a world that is becoming more and more artificial and vain. As a Brazilian, I hope to watch your concert somewhere here in the near future. I love you.❤ thank you for your art ❤
Well said. 🤌🏾

Willow is simply brilliant. Her voice, style & name suits her. A unique human that deserves more recognition.
She really is growing into her sound, and I'm here for every new chapter.
