I love this movie too...too bad it is not historically accurate...there were 7 assassination attempts but none of them resulted in Albert taking a bullet for Victoria....but this version is so much more Hollywood...and nothing is wrong with that as long as you also know the real history....and, their’s was a remarkable love story...

True, this film does sometimes play fast and loose with the actual history. Albert also did not attend Victoria's coronation, either. Prince Albert did try to shield himself in front of Victoria during an assassination attempt. Although the movie has Albert being wounded, it does give Rupert Friend as Albert some of the best lines in the film. The Young Victoria is such a great movie that one can overlook the dramatic licenses which were taken.
