I’m on this journey with you. Will be 77 in 2 months, live alone with an elder dog. Live on Social Security and had been doing okay until the past two months. Had a financial situation arise which wiped out my “ monetary “cushion. But, like you life is a roller coaster ride, but it is what it is.
Thanks for sharing this, Susan! Sorry you've had a financial setback; don't let it derail you. You seem to have a good perspective - keep moving forward!
Wow. Thank you. I needed this reminder today as the past four years I have been building a friendship with a man who is a neighbor. A week ago, he finally asked me out on a little adventure. I was so excited and happy about the future we would explore together. Then, this Monday, he passed away. We will never get to go on our adventure. It has put me through a lot of mind meanderings, tears, and anger. I was praying for the message, the lesson behind this blindside. Today, I heard from mySelf that in our seventies, we do not have time to play our "coy" cards. So, I will cherish our memories and learn this hard lesson. No sense havin' a fit/bad attitude cuz time is a wastin'.
My brother is a self-made millionaire many times over. He's taught me the greatest lesson in life... Never give up. The word "can't" doesn't exist in his vocabulary. There is always a way. You go over, under, around, or through a barrier or wall, but never give up because your sub-conscience WILL eventually find a solution if you're determined enough. Don't take the easy road and quit. Don't look for a quick solution when problems hit you in the face. Don't give up on yourself because you are much stronger than you think you are.
For many people living on small fixed incomes is a challenge it becomes more and more tedious and exhausting as it creates limitations. Being frugal can easily be made into a game for a while, but living that way 24/7 365 days a year, can cause even the most creative person to feel life is an up hill battle. It isn't necessary to be wealthy, but not having to constantly struggle, to cover the basics would be a change. That said, I am grateful to be relatively healthy, have the basics of a roof over my head, food and medical care as needed, along with other creature comforts. health being the first wealth. lt is important to be grateful. Tithing can bring forth abundance, no matter how much or how little we have, it doesn't need to be to a church, just something one feels passionately about. Seems to be a good habit to cultivate, one that contributes to living a purposeful and balanced life.
Your video today reminds me of that Helen Keller quote: “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” Hoping everything comes together for you soon.
Not part of this but I was in the hospital yesterday for high blood pressure. A Most all in the ER were older then me or my age. And so much sicker. I have always said I would take matters in my own hands and not be in a home not knowing what has happened to me. I was sitting on the hospital bed and an old man went to the bathroom which was next to my area. He was probably a nice man but he gave me a smile that chilled me. And right there I realized the reality of what I don't want to live with and the reality of my decision. And how old i really am. No hope. This is what it will be
Well, hopefully it won't be as bad as that! Not everyone suffers a lot as they get older. My great aunt lived to be 90, still got around okay, and died in her sleep. I prefer not to think the worse. Take care!
Just a side comment it turned out I was dehydrated the ran a line that they got blood from and was supposed to ran some saline but the azzhole forgot so after three hours of waiting for the test results I never got the real treatment I needed at releases she said didn't u get some saline I said no no one came in to hook it up. She asked if I wanted it then my husband was so uncomfortable in the chairs moving wheelchair to get a foot stool so I said no. When I really did because they didn't do their f job I didn't get the treatment I needed. It will be a cold day in hell before I go again
I understand what you're talking about. I've been trying to find a decent and affordable place to move to for years now. Such places are difficult to come by nowadays, especially when on social security.
I believe you are living in Northern California. You may want to check out the town of Davis, CA, where I am presently living. It has a walkable small downtown, two farmer's markets a week, free local bus for seniors (and students), free music at city parks and the university, two free museums, lots of low cost or free food options, a monthly Artwalk, lots of cheap or free quality stuff because of the student turnover, and a few good festivals each year (Whole Earth Day, Picnic Day, Biodiversity Day, etc.). Davis is dominated by young people because of the university but is a relatively good place for us seniors as long as you are not near a party house. 😜
Although, it's very hot there. But, I have taken my dogs to the Veterinary School there years ago. It sounds like a nice area. I may need to leave the East Bay although I do love where I live. IDK yet.
@@eldergal Davis is expensive but I make it so far because I don't need to own a car, and I can get most of my food for free. However, I am planning to start over outside of California because this state is too expensive. I have been researching to find a place that has much the same amenities as Davis without the high rents. I'm 62 and healthy. Thanks for the inspirational video a month ago on "Starting over at 69" and all your other heartfelt videos.
Thank you for this show. I'm trapped in Muskogee and I want to be in OKC,Santa Fe or NYC. God doesn't want me to leave. I reverse the anger and resentment and say" I love this place" I think it's called acceptance. Maybe your not supposed to go because of what's happening in the world. Maybe God is trying to keep you safe.
@@lizafield9002I agree. I'm in Northern California and I don't like it. But, I paid off my very humble home. Needs work , but it is liveable. No one can evict me. Will head out to travel the USA one day and this will do fine as a home base. I'll sell it when I need to check myself into "the home". At age 74, this is okay. Acceptance and gratitude.
Feel you living in Muskogee wouldn’t be the best. I almost had to move there many years ago. Fortunately, it did not work out because I was not fond on the idea of living there. Hopefully you will get to move soon.
I am intuitive also. I have had that feeling of letting go. I just stay put. I feel I am saved from a disappointment or worse. I am sorry to hear you are struggling. I pray for your success in your dream to relocate. 🙏💙🍁🍂🙏
Thanks once again Elder Gal from "nearly" Elder Guy. Yesterday, a guy bemoaned the fact that he just turned 39, so I turned the hose on him while yelling obscenities (not really)😂 Ingrate!
I made a decision I deeply regret. But there is no going back now. Makes me sad. I too wanted out of where I am. I’m wondering if i jumped from the frying pan to the fire
I dont mind some change... but when you start adding layers of complexity, I often get anxious because inevitably - one of my choices will be bad (chose wrong insurance plan, apartment to rent, loan package etc) and now all the other choices no longer fit into the puzzle nice like i planned. I had a major life upheaval 2.5 yrs ago and I am STILL sorting out and correcting choices. ( forced to move out of state, lost fave job, very different culture/choices here)
I'm stuck right now in getting rid of items that have sentimental value for me. That's a tough one. Good for you that you are there. I LOVE spreadsheets! They help me get organized for everything!
Hi Allison. There is the thought that obstacles are put in our way to see just how serious we are about what we want to do. I do believe that where there is the will there is a way. These days, I find that my will is waning somewhat!! There is so much out of our control. Anyway, I am rooting for you and hope you make the move you so long for because I know how much energy and effort it takes.
Thanks so much for your words of support, weirdfish! I also believe where there is a will, there is a way (even if it's slightly different than we thought). Appreciate you watching my videos!
Everyday life is so unpredictable. My brother lost his job a few years ago + a separation from his wife ( she was viciously fighting him for alimony ). His health went down ( diabetes ), his oldest son faced some mental health issues. He was forced out of his home. He rented an apartment, but had to come up with 6 months rent + security deposit. Then my brothers life turned around. His soon to be ex-wife passed suddenly from a heart attack. His son got the deserved treatment for his issues. My brother received disability, moved back into his home, which he made the down payment to begin with. It all turned around for him. He persevered and never gave up. I guess sometimes the higher power does look out for the downtrodden.
The tricky thing is knowing when to be persistent, even when obstacles pop up, and when it's just not for you. I guess that's where the pause and being still for a bit, taking a beat, comes in. I guess that's when we can know whether or not we should persist or move on.
Excellent topic Allison and something we all can empathize with. So sorry your original plan does not appear to be working out and your frustration is understandable. Sometimes it seems like you are hitting a wall at every turn but it is not the plan, just the timing to carry it out. Wanted to move myself the past 5 years even to the point of packing dozens of boxes and I'm still stuck where I am. Hope when your time it right, the opportunities will present themselves and your life can progress as you desire.
A lot of different moving parts, one will never know what the universe has for each one of us, not knowing until it happens and then we might have to move in a different direction again…..All will be ok, with time. Alison there is a script and eventually it will fall into place….so far you are doing a lot, you’re moving…..that’s important.
I don't make plans anymore because when I did, it fell through. I now live one day at a time, and if it's going to happen, it will. When you least expect it will happen. You got this it will go smoothly. Best of luck.❤
It’s amazing how much we have in common. I am going through similar situation, and it’s been such a roller coaster. I want to move from where I am currently at, but something always seems to come up. I was only supposed to be where I am currently at for only a couple of years, and it’s already been here for 4 1/2 years. The reason why, is because I am helping out my son with my granddaughter, because childcare is ridiculously expensive, and both parents work. I love them very much, but I do not like it here. Thank you for sharing.
Allison, so sorry this did not work out for you. If you want to move to France sooner, remember to apply for your visa. It takes a while to get it. You have such a great attitude. I can see you are a little sad but you are a very strong person. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Thanks Edie! Yes, I know the visa process takes about 3 months; I've researched what to do. I am hoping to have time and space to prepare more before I move to France. Just don't know where that will be. Appreciate your support!
Being flexible and having a hopeful attitude sure does help when life makes our roads curve! We might not like it or appreciate it at first but we do learn from it.
I'm thinking about starting a channel, too....no high hopes....just allowing myself to start to think about things and have fun with it...your channel has been an inspiration for me. Thank you so much for being willing to be vulnerable and put yourself out there. I struggle with loneliness a lot (childhood ick). When I watch your stuff - I feel better. Like I'm not going to fall off the edge of the planet anymore. :) xoxo
Wow, I mean when I was younger I felt like this but now am just so grateful to have a small place and be able to do some things I enjoy. I don't think there is just "one path or thing we are supposed to be doing" we have choices and sometimes things work out and sometimes they don't, no big mystery.
My brother used to say "Just go with the flow" and it annoyed me immensely. Now I just think of him and that saying when things don't work out. There is always a reason that reveals itself later down the road.
😂 thanks for sharing, but no more moving for us as senior citizens. NO to living in cold cloudy climates countries, EUROPE. Nope......... from the 🌞 Sunny south 77 degrees
I really admire you, EG. I know you're trying hard to keep a philosophical attitude about your situation. You've inspired me to try to do the same. You're so smart--doing your utube channel and all. Still so adventurous! Good luck to you.💖
I like that you are getting rid of stuff. It helps clears the way for you to move along. I'm slow mo getting rid of stuff myself with an eye to moving out of state in a year or so. I hope your path opens up soon and you can get going.
Good luck with your search for a new home elder gal. Ill be watching to see how you get on. Change IS exciting, think thats why i like travelling so much ❤
I always planned to retire overseas and even had the exact rental apartment picked out. Then they changed the residency visa program and I no longer qualify. Now I’ve been in my US apartment for 6 years and they’ve never raised the rent once since I moved in 2018. I hear horror stories from people who can no longer afford where they live and consider myself incredibly lucky. I’m learning to accept things work out the way they’re supposed to.
You’re so lucky your rent has remained the same since 2018. Our rent is increasing every 18 months now. Our landlord is one greedy 😠. What concerns me, he drags his feet accommodating the tenants. Times and people change.
Hi Alison, thanks for posting this and being so open. I do hope it works out for you. I moved countries 16 years ago and paid a lot of money to ship stuff over. I hardly used the 'stuff' and ended up keeping maybe one or two items. It was a bit of a waste of money so I think you are doing the right thing not holding on to 'stuff'.
I so admire you, Allyson, and I'm excited to watch your adventure unfold. I have felt desperate many times over in the past year, from things happening at my place and more expenses, and having no money to take care of anything. I've gotten very good at calming myself and regaining hope.
I'm in the middle of making fairly huge decisions myself, about moving country. When there's an element of uncertainty in whatever you do it can cause anxiety too.
I think your lucky that God is guiding you through, he's got something better around the corner. My intuition is broken..LoL I wouldn't have made some of the stupid choices I made if I would've listened to the still small voice. God bless you always..
I love you! Totally get this video, the dilemma of stuff, the uncertainty when you have a fork in the road. I dreamt of moving to FL for 17 (yes 17!!!) years and here I am. I did not know I would be a widow here, battling freaking hundred year storms on my own, and there's the kicker. But like you say, you know it will work out. We didn't come this far not to have learned a thing or two about problems we can look back on and HOPEFULLY laugh about (not always, but mostly). Can't wait to see how it all unfolds - for you and coincidentally for me - whenever I'm knocked over whether it's weather, bureaucracy (God help us all!) or grief and there's a truckload of that, I go quiet. Inner voice says, "All will be well." Thank You for sharing this. Sooooo Timely! BTW, I cannot do spreadsheets to save my soul, but the goody/baddy list works well too. All the best to you.
Hello Allison. Thank you for keeping all of us posted on your progress. Don't be discouraged about Plan-A. Plan B,C, or even D could be the better alternative in the end. There is usually a good reason why things work out the way they do for people like you. You will find the perfect place that fits your lifestyle and checks all the boxes. I'm fairly certain of that. It is good to see you staying positive about everything. Take care and stay safe out there, Allison.
I just rented a new place under the illusion it had a working dishwasher. When I told the prop Mgr all the issues it has, he said, “Ok, good.” So now I get to replace the DW myself. The way seniors are treated by the slumlords is just terrible. :(
Thank you for sharing , this is a ridiculous way everything “doesn’t work” specially getting older they make it more harder… I am in a similar situation deciding to move out of country because the impossible way to pay rent and survive alone if wanted to be independent NOW !!!
Allison my dear we are in the same boat.Im not sure of all the reasons you want to move but my main reason is to keep my Sanity. The person we rent from lives upstairs and keeps very bad company which means lots of noise all hours of the day and night sometimes.I just wanted to say that wherever you get to move to it will the best for you and wherever I move to will be the same.I wish and pray the very best for you my dear and don't pedal too hard you might fall off your bike lol😊Thank you and I will stay tuned ❤
I have strong intuition too and I feel you should stay put until after the New Year. The election, Thanksgiving and the end of year holidays are coming up, bad time to move. Too much palavre happening and would be a difficult time to move and get assistance, servicework etc. Wait until after the New Year when everything and everyone settles down again. Sometimes I think the intuition that influences us when making major decisions is our ancestors looking out for us and trying to steer us in the right direction and protect us. Your move will happen when it should and it will be the right one.
It's important to be able to see mixed blessings. Sometimes things don't work out to your benefit, but you just can't see it at the time. The timing may not have been right. Often we simply get outcompeted for a job we want. In the case of malevolent interference, I make a voodoo doll of the guilty person. Then suddenly things even out. It replaces despair with balance.
I still have so much stuff out of sight and mind in my garage. My little Toyota fits so I can avoid dealing with it. Just had to replace my floor furnace exhaust piping and my evaporative cooler is on its last summer. The trials and frustrations of owning a house. I did a Reverse M. 10 yrs. ago and sunk the proceeds into maintenance on the old house. With the high interest rates there will be no equity left when I pass. I'm in Grass Valley, small town.
I needed to hear this today. I am on a wait list for a place that will require me to sell my current home. Its been 6 months since I put down the deposit and it seems like it just isn’t going to happen. And now I am rethinking even moving. I do pray that God’s Will be done in my life and have come to the realization that if something is this hard, may not be in the providential plan for me. Helps me look at the blessings at hand. But for me that is very hard. Like you I am a make it happen person if I see something in my minds eye and make it happen now. Its frustrating to try and plan. I am a planner. So now just planning on enjoying each and every day where I am because I am exactly where God wants me! ❤
I commend you for your courage, some people stay poor because it’s easier than facing life’s challenges. All the best on your pursuit of a life in Europe. I truly admire your lust for life.
The UA-cam algorithm is very unpredictable. And because you can may get some big paydays, it can turn down the very next payday. I’ve seen Tubers get big pay and they struggle to understand why they can’t get it back. They start to spend money to make better content and chase it but really it’s not you it’s just the algorithm changing. And the US taxes people wherever they live in the world above a certain amount. So please put that into your forecast. Remember that YT money is not stable. And expect it to get cut in half or worse eventually. So plan for it like an unexpected windfall. Invest it wisely.
Probably the most reasonable comment I see here. Certainly I would not seriously consider significant change until I had a YT track record, unless my current circumstance was intolerable. This is not what people with a dream want to hear.
Thanks, I'm very well aware of the unpredictability of You Tube. I spent almost two years making nothing on it. I am in the process of diversifying income for the future. Thanks nd!
I can so relate to this! I’m 63 and left my job last year thinking I’d just “get another one”. And I found one, and then another one this year, and I left both of those quickly, just seeing it wasn’t something I wanted to continue. I sold my car, I sold my gold jewelry, and no I’m selling my sterling collection. It’s crazy! I found the process draining, as I’ve had so many near misses job wise, and haven’t found anything I was even interested in. Every time I got excited, I would end up deflated a few days or weeks later. Finally just applied for SS and the process was amazingly easy. Still I need more $, and was planning to work more years and save more. So I just thought I’d start pursuing my UA-cam channel, and it’s been a disaster! I’m just feeling disappointed, and don’t have a plan B or C. Just wondering when I give this up? It seemed like I would be a natural fit for this, but I’m also feeling like how much do I have to keep pivoting? I enjoy change as well, and downsizing. I haven’t minded that part. I’m just getting emotionally drained.😢
Thanks for sharing this. Not sure how long you've had your channel, but I would encourage you to keep going. It took me almost two years to get monetized, but my mantra is that quitting is not an option. I don't know your situation fully, but you never know when something good might happen. Take care!
Yes, understand your frustration. One suggestion is to make your first plan a large Emergency Fund. That will be an important part of relocation as well and provide you with security . Help you transition regardless of the direction. Its a great accomplishment to pay yourself first and know you have that financial security. It dies not need to be in a bank where it is reported, there are many options. My kindest and best regards Alison.
Life is so unpredictable. We have to do what is best for ourselves. There are no guarantees. If we get that gut feeling, or as you say, intuition, we need to pay attention to it. If something feels wrong, well… it’s probably wise to put on the brakes and give it some deep thought. If you are unhappy in your current apartment, would you consider moving to a different apartment in the same town, or do you want to get far away from where you are now? These big changes are always difficult. I know, as I’ve been there. I wish you good luck in all that you do and I thank you for your wonderful channel. I very much enjoy your videos and find them insightful and also comforting. Much joy to you always, Allison. God bless you. ❤️🙏
Thanks so much for your comment, Maureen! For several reasons, I need to move from the town and current state I am in. That's the only thing of which I am certain. Appreciate you watching and being supportive!
@@eldergalWell, that’s good. That is one decision you have already made. I hope your plans for relocation fall into place quickly, and that you can get settled in your new home. Big changes are never easy, but the best things in life are worth fighting for and achieving. I wish you every happiness. God bless you, Allison. ❤️🙏
If you do not have money in the bank, how do you expect to be able to get a visa to live in another country, especially as an older person ? I think most countries look at older, poorer people as a liability…..just wondering.
What's your budget, and what cities are you interested in living in? I have a condo in downtown DC that's had 4 buyers back out because lenders wouldn't grant them a mortgage because it is a condo. Now it's on the market for rent. Also, have you thought about teaching English abroad? I did it for 3 years out of college and I was contractually only allowed to work 15 hours a week, got free housing, free medical insurance, a food stipend, and international airfare.
Thanks for your comment! Rents are too high in most major cities; I am looking at smaller places in less populated areas. I can't believe how much rents went up during the pandemic especially.
So many great points here and things to think about. When I’m trying to do something and hit obstacles, I always wonder - am I NOT supposed to do this OR am I being challenged and need to be strong and overcome the obstacles. Sometimes I even wonder if there is a bad force that’s going against me and I wonder am I supposed to keep fighting it. Too much analyzing on my part, I think. However, when I think of one specific time when I regretted a decision I made, I hit real roadblocks and it turned out it was a really bad decision. For me, I think it was God or a guardian angel, or my loved ones in heaven trying to help me. Regarding your advice to write down pros and cons for big decisions, very wise advice! I’ve made big decisions impulsively. Not good. Also, you said change keeps you growing. So true. It’s also wise to look at if we are making too many changes and why. For me it’s changing jobs very frequently, and the negative results of doing that. I know you were in the psychology profession, so you’re aware of how we do things so subconsciously, we don’t even know why we are doing them.
I completely understand the overanalyzing part, Jules! I often wish I did not do it so much, but it's part of my psyche. Thanks for your comment and for watching!
I am thankful that my older sister at 69 had my back during 4 years of mental health problems from 3 strokes, I'm 57. You remind me a lot of Laurie. BTW. She's bored with her lake house and wine 🍷 room. Baby boomer problems????
If something doesn’t go the way I want … it’s not meant to be! When God closes a door He will open a window! There is something better out there for you! Keep your chin up and look ahead! 🧡🍂🧡🍁🧡
I have adopted a management plan in retirement. it's called, when I'm good damn ready. It really keeps the stress down. I designed a reverse check register. Instead of telling me what has happened to my cash flow it tells me what's going to happen. I can see my cash position to the penny as far out into the future as I want to. Years if I want. Right now it's working like a little oil derrick in the backyard. It's producing hundreds of dollars a month in discretionary income. Buy next year it will produce thousands. It's all in how it manages my payouts. NO taxes in this income stream.
I am working on a move as well and are experiencing the same obstacles, as they are, that you are experiencing. My dream may be a long-awaited dream and I may need to make some comprises along the way. It is a very tough housing market. Best of luck to you.
Hi Alison, Well, we are in the same boat. Only I'm 74, a little older than you are. I live in San Diego by the beach in "affordable housing"... I've been taking care of my husband who I've been separated from for many years (never actually divorced - long story). He was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2017 and had no where to live nor anyone to care for him. So when he wasn't in nursing homes, I was his caregiver. Hardest 24/7 job there is. The only thing that helped me get through the stress was my precious little dog. Now they have both passed. My dog died unexpectedly on June 6 and my husband passed from dementia July 6. And my rent was raised (big increase) for September. It's time to close this chapter where I'm living and move on to a new one. I feel mired here and yet unmoored by grief. My son passed several years ago which ripped me in two and I just feel that my heart is so heavy. It's all magnified by these new recent losses. I'd like to be near my daughter and her family in another state but can't afford to buy as I'm retired and can't support a mortgage. And the rents there are too high for my fixed income.. So I'm in search mode as you are... Knowing it's time to move on but not knowing where to go. It seems for me I need to focus on healing. But how to heal in a place that you feel is part of your past and want to move on from? I take long beach walks to stay centered. And I ponder and stay open to possibilities for now. I guess thats all we can do til the right path makes itself known. It seems that's where you are with your journey too. We will both find our way! I shall stay tuned! XX 🌞
So sorry for all your losses, Bobbi! I know it must be challenging for you, but you sound like someone who knows how to cope. Walking on the beach is great therapy. I hope you can find your way to a new chapter of your life; I hope we both can. Appreciate you watching - take care!
Thank you Alison. I hope the pieces of the puzzle fall into place for both of us!Thank you for being a kindred spirit and for shining your light on the challenges as we journey into our golden years!@@eldergal
I forgot to mention when you get a 1099. Your tax percent is much higher than a regular employee, so make sure you check out the amount you have to pay back on the 1099 gains.
Why would you move from a low income home to an income restrictive home? Why would you put limits on your UA-cam channel and risk having to move again?
If you watched the entire video, I am NOT moving to income-restricted at this point. I was only looking for short-term housing in any case. Thanks for watching!
Sorry for the stress and disappointment. But I believe where God shuts one door another opens ( you said as much) . Important video for many to see. Just said a prayer for you. Hang in there...Vini 🙂🤝🙏🕯💙🕊
I'll give you an example. I tried to get an apartment and I was not approved so I let it go. I waited and a year later.I got exactly the same apartment for less money no deposit. Plus nowadays you have to have those1099s and those taxes done and ready to give to them. Otherwise it's just a battle. Take a breath and see if you can stay where you're at for just a few more months till the door opens and all your docs are available. Keep an eye out as the universe will show up with something.
Whenever I’m anxious to get things done, but run into obstacles, I take that as a sign to pause. Timing is everything! The puzzle of life goes on. 😊
Love what you wrote
Perfect analogy. Life is very much like a puzzle. And sometimes we try to force a piece in a space it doesn't belong, right?
I agree.
THY Will be done, not my Will. Peace to you.💕
Yes, indeed - you are right! Thanks Leslie!
I’m on this journey with you. Will be 77 in 2 months, live alone with an elder dog. Live on Social Security and had been doing okay until the past two months. Had a financial situation arise which wiped out my “
monetary “cushion.
So sorry for the loss of your friend, Lisa! Thanks for sharing this. It is a reminder of how little time we might have. Take care!
My condolences, Lisa. 💜
I’m so sorry.
I'm very sorry for your loss, Lisa.
Lisa, I am so sorry for your heartbreak. That’s just devastating. Please surround yourself with those you love and let them be of comfort to you. ❤️🙏

Your brother's message was perfectly timed. Thanks!!
Thank you for the great advice. The key is to never give up as you said.
Words to live by. Thanks for sharing twofargOne!
Why is life so difficult? I'm tired. I don't expect anything anymore.
Like you logic 👏
Your video today reminds me of that Helen Keller quote: “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” Hoping everything comes together for you soon.
I've always loved that quote! Thanks, Donna!
The higher I build expectations, the further I have to fall..
Expectations are future resentments
Not part of this but I was in the hospital yesterday for high blood pressure. A
Most all in the ER were older then me or my age.
I know, kriscree! Thanks for watching!
Davis is a great place but rent is expensive. I live in Sacramento.
Although, it's very hot there. But, I have taken my dogs to the Veterinary School there years ago. It sounds like a nice area. I may need to leave the East Bay although I do love where I live. IDK yet.
Thanks Richard, but I need to move out of California (too expensive overall)! Thanks for your comment!
Sounds like Utopia!
The crime in NYC is not worth it.
Yes, we never really know why things don't fall into place at the time it is happening. Appreciate your comment, Christopher!
Look for the lessons learned, the wisdom gained in this 'mistake', they may he invaluable for your future!
Sorry you are experiencing this, Karen. We can only make the best decision we can. Unfortunately some things don't work out. Take care!

( forced to move out of state, lost fave job, very different culture/choices here)
Thanks for sharing this, Zilla! I have been through major upheavals before too, so understand what you describe. Appreciate you watching!
Am in a similar place in life. Tend to move places regularly. Whenever I move everything has to fit in my minivan.
It sounds like you have a good system with this, cuddlesanddaisy! I need to get to that point. Thanks for watching!
I'm stuck right now in getting rid of items that have sentimental value for me. That's a tough one. Good for you that you are there. I LOVE spreadsheets! They help me get organized for everything!
Thanks for your comment!
Thanks for sharing this, Margaret! Glad things turned around for your brother. Take care!
Our reactions determine the outcome from my experience ❤
I always do a Pro/Con sheet concerning my major decisions.
I know, right? It does help to some degree. Thanks for watching, Monica!
The tricky thing is knowing when to be persistent, even when obstacles pop up, and when it's just not for you. I guess that's where the pause and being still for a bit, taking a beat, comes in. I guess that's when we can know whether or not we should persist or move on.
Absolutely, Rose! Thanks for your comment!
Thanks so much, Sue, for empathizing about this. Yes, timing is everything. Hope you can move at some point, too!
We’re all in this with you, Allison. I researched my place for a year. I was disappointed many many times so I understand.

Thanks PT! Living one day at a time is the best!
Thanks for sharing this! I hope you can make a move soon in your life. Take care!

Wow, I mean when I was younger I felt like this but now am just so grateful to have a small place and be able to do some things I enjoy. I don't think there is just "one path or thing we are supposed to be doing" we have choices and sometimes things work out and sometimes they don't, no big mystery.
So true! Thanks for your comment, catsanddogs!
My brother used to say "Just go with the flow" and it annoyed me immensely. Now I just think of him and that saying when things don't work out. There is always a reason that reveals itself later down the road.

I never go back to the state I moved from because I believe in moving forward.
Me too, Monica!
Thanks for sharing that, Linda! I know that visa residency requirements keep changing. Glad you have a stable living situation. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing this, Kirbygal! Yes, having as little stuff as possible is the way to go.
I so admire you, Allyson, and I'm excited to watch your adventure unfold. I have felt desperate many times over in the past year, from things happening at my place and more expenses, and having no money to take care of anything. I've gotten very good at calming myself and regaining hope.
Hope is often what sustains us! Thanks for sharing this, girlfriday!
I'm in the middle of making fairly huge decisions myself, about moving country. When there's an element of uncertainty in whatever you do it can cause anxiety too.
I know. I am feeling much the same right now, having lots of anxiety. I hope you can navigate your decision. Take care, Jojo!
I think your lucky that God is guiding you through, he's got something better around the corner.

I wouldn't have made some of the stupid choices I made if I would've listened to the still small voice.
God bless you always..
Thanks indigirl! I usually have good intuition, but sometimes it feels broken, as you say. Appreciate you watching!

Thank you for sharing , this is a ridiculous way everything “doesn’t work” specially getting older they make it more harder… I am in a similar situation deciding to move out of country because the impossible way to pay rent and survive alone if wanted to be independent NOW !!!
I understand completely Phoenix! I want to live out of the country, but preparing everything to do that is overwhelming at times. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing your situation, Dorothy! I do hope you can move soon too! Take care and thanks for watching!
I hear you on this, Curlyblonde! There is a lot going on. We'll see what develops over the next couple of months. Thanks for watching!
THE LORD IS WITH YOU AND CONTINUES TO GUIDE YOU AT YOUR SIDE. YOU ARE REALLY A BRILLIANT LADY. I WISH I HAD HALF OF YOUR WISDOM.
Thanks Stephanie!

Yes, understand your frustration. One suggestion is to make your first plan a large Emergency Fund. That will be an important part of relocation as well and provide you with security . Help you transition regardless of the direction. Its a great accomplishment to pay yourself first and know you have that financial security.

That sounds great!
So sad to hear you are riding the Struggle Bus. I hope your stop comes up soon so you can get off. I'm sitting in the back...
Thanks Sue! I like the Struggle Bus metaphor! Hope we can both make it off the bus!
I am working on a move as well and are experiencing the same obstacles, as they are, that you are experiencing. My dream may be a long-awaited dream and I may need to make some comprises along the way. It is a very tough housing market. Best of luck to you.
Thanks for sharing your similar situation, libraspath! Hope things turn out well for you. Take care!
Allison, could you please make a video about making a situation spreadsheet? Thank you for your work. Be well and safe. 💕
Thanks for your suggestion, Teffi! Appreciate you watching!
XX 🌞
@@bobbibartley549 So sorry for all your losses Bobbi. Grief stings so much.

Thanks, already aware of this. Appreciate you watching!
Every time I move, I ask myself, what have I learned to be a better tenant for my next move.
I recommend against a storage unit. The cost adds up. I have family members that spend 100s a month on storage unit.
If I get one, it would only be very small 5x5 at about 50/mo for about a year. But we'll see!
This has been my experience, too.
Thanks!
love and blessings - you go gal🐱
Thanks much!
Why would you move from a low income home to an income restrictive home? Why would you put limits on your UA-cam channel and risk having to move again?
If you watched the entire video, I am NOT moving to income-restricted at this point. I was only looking for short-term housing in any case. Thanks for watching!
I commented before the video ended.
Sorry for the stress and disappointment. But I believe where God shuts one door another opens ( you said as much) . Important video for many to see. Just said a prayer for you. Hang in there...Vini 🙂🤝🙏🕯💙🕊
Thanks much, Vini!
There’s a lesson to learn for you. 💜
That's probably true, Laura! Thanks for watching!
@@eldergal That’s what I’ve been learning on my journey.
I notice that many people in public housing/Section 8 move about every two years.
Thanks for sharing that, bmg! Yes, that is how it works very often.
Disfruta del proceso 🙂
Thanks Carmen!
