Great video, I love my Go3 but now you maybe sold me on the Go3s..... I use it more than my Action 4 and 3 and even my X4...
I’m thinking about buy this as a travel camera for our family. Since most of it will be for memories and seems like is could be easier with less post production, it maybe the right fit.
I bought the regular 3 one month before they came out with the "s" version. I got the black 128 for $339 not realizing they probably lowered the price to sell more of the older models before coming out with the new one lol. Whatever. I have already found a LOT of uses with this little camera and love every bit of it. It would have been nice to have 4K but I will wait until they come out with one with 4k 60 next year. I did purchase the little transfer thingy however since I like to record a LOT of footage so that way I don't have to do it over wifi. Great video.
I've been waiting and wanting for many years as bigger cameras SLOWLY creep towards 4K 240FPS and based on that and major companies still dealing with heat and battery life at 4K anything, I've concluded that it's still gonna be a slow process until some major tech leap occurs. The compromises have been everpresent. for example, would you really want to wait a year with expectations of a 4k 60 and then finally get it, and your battery life tanks to 11 minutes? Or that the camera now overheats and shuts down a lot more? That could EASILY be the case. Companies desperate for consumer dollars will flaunt those specs but the major tradeoffs are hidden from the consumer. GoPro reputation is quite bad now because of this exact thing. "We must have 4K 60". Smaller companies will advertise it too, and cell phones did the megapixel game forever, a lot of upscaling trickery and baloney.
It's not mentioned but the card reader accessory seems to work with the Go3. At least I think I just read that on the site.
If the little battery can handle a true 40 or so minutes of usage, that's more uptime than my GoPro 10 was getting that I recently sold. I think for portability action camera travel, there's a benefit to working with say 1080 and 2.7K footage as the laptop or the phone can be smaller and less powerful, and cheaper and you can edit and apply effects with less power and less render time.
You can buy the new go3S camera alone and it is compatible with the go 3 body you already have. Save a lot of $. Instead of $425, I think it is like $269.
Good to see another N Irish creator on here! I saved up for the Go3 at the start of summer, bought it, lost it on the first day I used it (within 40 minutes) whilst it was attached to my dog in a forest, guess what else was attached? The action pod! So I had no way of reviewing the footage to find it.
Spent weeks in June trailing that forest for it, even bought a metal and magnet detector, but to no avail! It was made worse by the fact that only 3 days later Insta360 released this shiny new version WITH TRACKING - it still makes my stomach churn when I think about it...
If only I had held back and waited to get this version instead, gutted. Great video anyway, man!
Arghhh what a disaster 🙈 I attached one of the earlier models to a cat once. Thankfully it was on a lead and couldn’t go too far with it.

Didn't you had problems with over heating? I took my Go 3 HD on holiday recording city walks, with an average of every 15 minutes the camera was hearting up.
An interesting approach to this tempting camera. One thing worth adding - the clip mount can now be attached to the magnetic pendant, enabling the camera to be tilted up or down when you chest mount it. This is handy for overweight users. Think about it... 😊

Thinking of one of these cameras to film running footage. I have a GoPro already but this seems good for clipping to hats for races and runs where I wouldn’t want to take a bigger action care a. Is the stabilisation good enough for good content when running?

Bought an insta360 X4 my first 360 camera, will be taking it to Japan in a weeks time, then eventually use it for my motorcycle rides and as a dashcam for the car.
Will look into the insta Go 3S at a later date.
Very very good description, simple, just the good timing, less than 15 minutes, 10 to 13 is perfect ! And not a lot of specs (web site Insta do that) but the qualities (or not) and the purpose ! This is NOT an Action Camera ! A so good title.

4k is nice, but for social media not a huge deal. Besides the cheaper price, I’m going for the Go3 over the Go3s for one simple reason… Nobody on youtube reviewing the new Go3S mentions that it loses 15% of it’s wide angle focal length compared to the Go3. The Go3 has a 35mm equivalent 11mm lens while the Go3s has only 16mm. It’s still wide, but it’s significantly narrower field of view compared to the older Go3. For me a wider field of view is more important to me than 4k.
Have had a Go3 for three months and it’s been worth every penny. Blows my old GoPro out of the water

It's actually good news. If I have go3 I can have now 11mm and 16mm equiv if I buy just the camera module addon. But new hat mount is also much better with the magnets.

lol for the amount of time I'd use this I'll stick with the go2 for now. hmmm now how else can I spend $400 ?

I liked my Go2 but previewing the footage and having an actual screen proved to be a major factor in moving up to the Go3. Got the Go3S too because I simply like this form factor. 4K wasn't the major thing, but better slowmo and some of the other shooting features are quite nice. I was thinking of getting a DJI action 4 but decided to get the Go3S as my secondary with my Go3. The ace pro is in my bag too but now I'm not sure how much I'll even use it. yikes.
I'm curious to see how the battery life is without the action pod. 45 minutes seems a little short..4K is cool.. it's tiny so we can make more creative videos..It's amazing sir
Officially its actually 38mins. I put a correction on screen. I find its plenty if you just use it for quick social media videos. So I might shoot 20x 15sec clips in a day which is only 5mins of battery time required. if you use it for vlogging it won't last as long
about 28-32 minutes of 4K footage without the action pod. It can be increased to about 38 minutes at 2.7K and even further with things like Timelapse's, interval shooting etc.

a cool fun action(y) camera with 4k and some niffty and creative uses. (Like DJI did last Summer, they are getting the jump on GoPro's traditional September release). More choice for the consumer, buy also more confusion too... 🙏
Insta360 is doing an amazing work , they thought of things no other company thinks about, its just amazing.

i think aaction cams have got a bit lost, gopros arent as tough as they used to be or as simple to set up. so, the go3 looks more like an actual action camera, as well as a great b-roll vlog type camera. ps. the best stabilisation available on earth is gyroflow, most cams are ready to roll with it now, when i say best i mean professionals use it instead of paid for software. its that good.
Another brilliant POV camera, I’ve got enough😉, but it’s much more discreet and adaptable😬stop it! I’m sure I could use one but don’t tell my lovely wife😆
Oh, I'm so conflicted, disappointed with my Hero 11 but what would a GO3s be a good additional fun camera?

A lot of people are disappointed in GoPro at the moment. While they were meeting consumer demand, they ended up making it so powerful, the gopros would overheat or battery was not so good. In the latest 12, they removed GPS to gain back some battery life. I sold my 10 when I realized battery life was not to my expectations. Plus, navigating their UI was pretty annoying. Between the DJI Action 4, Ace / Ace Pro and Go3S you've got 3 really cool options right now. It's all about what you want to do. Let me say this. If you combined the Ace Pro with the little insta360 Preview remote, you can see the footage from a distance on a separate screen. That can make a lot of stuff pretty fun. This Go3 / Go3S both have the remote view built in, though distance isn't massive, it lets you frame shots from angles and see what you're getting. To me that opens up some fun things to try out with shooting action and non-action narrative video too. Somebody put their Go3 in the dish washer while watching how it worked from inside using the outer cradle accessory. I mean things like that are pretty fun and allow you to know what you're getting in tight spots.
What if you could put a camera inside a bird house and perhaps see what you were shooting live from a few feet away instead of hoping. Great stuff making the Insta360 stuff appealing. If DJI has it, fantastic.
The Go3s o Go3 is a great camera for the reasons that you aren’t limited by your GoPro, the hatclip works really well on the peak of a helmet and the magnetic mounting is both fast and effective, the chest mount accessory is very trick too but doesn’t come with the camera. I get very good quality footage riding my mtb with both, I prefer not having to lug a chest mount or wear it climbing and that’s why I love the hatclip. With the lower weight of the camera compared to others it’s stabilization gives very smooth footage and doesn’t bounce around as much as the GoPro. I would say this will not replace a top of the line action camera entirely and if you want all the bells and whistles go for the Insta360 Ace Pro or the new DJI for all the resolution, shooting modes and added bonuses of the larger sensors. But for a simple, fun and adaptable camera this is a great option, completely replaced my GoPro8 black
@@stevestechemporium it doesn't cope well with contrasty conditions, but mostly it's not much better than my 10, no wow factor.
Shoots 4K but for the price of shorter battery life compared to the previous model. As you start charging and charging the camera eventually the battery won't last long especially in low temperatures. Not sold.

go 3: webcam mode would be awesome if you didn't have to keep the go 3 in the pod and could use it remotely, I wonder if theyve improved on this on the 3s?
When I remove the camera from the action pod and record with it some of the video clips are upside down or inverted on playback. How do I correct this ????

Main problem with go3s is that you cant reframe and you cant rotate the image as you can previously do with the Go2. Shame, becouse its a pretty good camera

No not just as good, although I think it’s good enough, there are 3 different levels. But personally I don’t obsess too much over stabilisation. I think that action footage can be overstabilised

@@stevestechemporium I think gopro should take some extra time off release schedule and perfect some new accessory tech, portability features. The 12 is plenty good for what it is and I think GoPro needs to breathe some new life into their main product to compete and they must come out guns blazing with battery, heat resolved. Or they could focus on software like AI upscaling and then they don't have to keep running the resolution race. 4K 240FPS is kind of the Apex for action slowmo. 5.7 to 8K is kind of ridiculous when it's more comfortable to just watch on phones.
If i were gopro I'd buy the company that makes that follow drone the Hover X1 and try to build upon that with simplicity and software. That's a killer product.
Where do you edit the videos for this camera , can in be done on your phone or do you need to use a computer ?
Can do both, the insta360 app is actually really good
