Interesting question. To test this, I turned off the Go 3, put it in the Quick Reader and plugged into an Anker power bank - the solid red light comes on which indicates charging mode - the power draw was about 2.8 - 3 watts. So now I had a measure of the normal charge draw. For part 2, I started recording on my Go 3 (flashing red light), then put it in Quick Reader and attached to Anker power bank - recording continued (red light flashing) and noticed the draw from the power bank, again, was showing approximately 3 watts. So draw from power bank was same when off (and charging) and recording (and charging). Note, I started the recording before attaching to power bank. (Can't start recording if first attached to power bank.) FYI with just the Quick Reader connected to power bank alone (no Go 3) power draw was a little less than a watt which makes sense as the Quick Reader requires power to transfer files, etc. Lastly, I checked my recording to make sure it did not stop when plugged into power bank, while charging or when removed from power bank - recording was fine and clean. So based on this test, yes, you can record (must start recording first) and charge at same time - removing any power limits but still subject to SD card capacity. Hi Mark! Great video. I’m debating on buying the Go 3S and I was wondering how well it’s held up for you? I watched another guy’s video on it and he said the screws were falling out of it and the low light video wasn’t good. I was wondering if you think it’s worth it in the long term? I have had no issues with build quality. The main feature of the 3S is its size and mounting options. The Pocket 3 is much better in low light than the 3S. Thanks for watching.
WITHOUT the quick reader, how would you get the video files otherwise? quick reader is an accessory or is it an essential tool? originally Go3S is released without it.
The quick reader is a valuable accessory. The Go3/3s can transfer files via the mobile app, or by connecting the Go3 and Base via a usb c to a computer. The quick readers main function is the ability, on the run, to download from the internal memory to an external SD card and provide a quicker transfer method to move files to a computer

Getting about 30-40 MB/s transfer rate from the quicker reader to iPhone with insta360 app. This speed normal? Seems slow. It is about the same speed as WiFi transfer. Expected it to be faster than WiFi.
I have been getting around 38 MB/s so that seems in line with my experience. Transfers much faster when I plug into my laptop and transfer files without using insta360 app, reader shows up as a drive. Thanks for watching.
The max I use is 250GB, but I have seen discussions on Reddit where users say they have successfully used up to 1 TB. May want to check with Insta360 sales support for final answer. Thanks for watching.

Hi Mark, I purchased the 3s without an action pod to save some cash as what I wanted more than anything was the small form factor. I hadn't realised there would be no way of charging it. I am now waiting for the quick transfer to be delivered so hoping this will solve my issues. Will the 3S be perfectly capable with this set up or do you think the action pod is needed for anything?

@@thomas.robertsinteresting. I was not aware of that. Insta360 doesn’t have a history of making substantial firmware updates, they would rather issue a new updated product. Hopefully the functionality in the firmware update does not offer a change in user experience. The action pod is available for separate purchase if you feel the update provides major improvements.

I will wait until China will clone that, or Insta will sink the price to 20€
