I main Kill Team, struggle to be bothered with Big 40K. This was a very good summary of why Kill Team is better, fave'd for future argument-winning. :-)
Alternating activations is one of my main reasons. Less complicated rules is nice too, it's one of the reasons games move at a good pace and keep things engaging. Standard 40k is nice just having a large amount of units on the table, it looks cool, but the actual gameplay is a bit meh.
Got a starter set and I do enjoy it Ngl, it’s pretty fun and I also like smaller fights... to me the background engagements say a guard squad pushing a promethium refinery to take it off a group of traitor marines just seems cool, yes let the marines have their glory charging deamons but me and my squad are sweeping and clearing previous sectors to allow a safe advance for the others. Limelight has its place for everyone but today it’s shon on the small insignificant squad of average dudes
Kill team is only missing customisation in army building, Id love to see an inquisitor instead of X amount of guardsmen in my kill team, or a medium sized tyranid instead of X amount of other team members. At least in Kill Team Octarius there was no team building you just got one of each guardsman.
As much as I love 40K, alternating turns in KT is so much more fun. Whilst I do love moving my 2K points up the table, I know how it feels to sit there and watch someone debate with themselves over where something should go
Yeah alternating activations is one of the main appeals for me, same with just the smaller team sizes cause I switch between painting projects way too much for a full army
I think all tabletop games should have the back and forth playing between each other's units, it's engaging and requires more thinking/planning than "MOVE ENTIRE ARMY AND TAKE 15 MINUTES RRRAAHHHH." A great example is Star Wars Legion, where there is typically a lot of units between both players but it's still very fun.
I loved the Video. It may convince me to try kill team someday. However there were a few lore mistakes. For example Commoraghites are not just eldar they are Dark Eldar and Commaragh is the dark Eldar city. This kind of mistake doesn't really bother me. But if you want to learn more of the lore it might help you not make these mistakes in the future, if that is something you care about. For learning the lore I recommend rather than watching "lore videos" or something to find pieces of media you like. Something absolutely fantastic for this is Bruva Alfabusa's Emperor TTS series. It's a very popular and excellent piece of warhammer 40k media that actually teaches you a bit about the lore especially if you watch it 20+ times like me. Anyways love the videos been following you for a little while. Hope you grow big and become successful as I love your style and your quality is really good already for your size.
ay thanks for watching! i might’ve messed up my wording a bit at that part, i meant that they play a bit like craftworld, but aren’t lore wise like craftworld lmao that’s my b. but you’re right, i do lack lore knowledge probably a lot more than i should but i’ve been doing my best to dive into it when i can. thanks for the recommendations and don’t worry i’ve checked out TTS before it’s great stuff
Small niche community view point here but, I recently really got into Malifaux and it's a very similar play style, almost exact. Same with AoS Warcry. If you like Kill Team but want an aesthetic change I'd recommend either of those games. Malifaux if a much smaller community but each crew does have a lot of lore and story to them and why they do what they do. Play styles are varied but certain things are locked to certain factions or keywords. I dunno, it's worth a look.
Havent played 40k since 7th, i now use my models for TTRPG campaigns, ton of fun man, havnt tried actual Kill Team but these sets are great added terrain and unique looking models to my games, GW sucks ass at stocking them tho, there are now 3 teams I've wanted since they released, Including those cool looking Blooded you got there, but they are never in stores, and always sold out on the website. Be safe, not sure how long I can continue to rise above the temptation to beat them out of a millennial.
As a manchild with just a little more money than i know what to do with right now, I'm still more interested in the regular tabletop, but more ways to interact with the universe is always good (Also its more material for proxies)
For killteam I'm more interested to see factions get models that normally get overlooked in lore or are 20 years old and hasn't been a thing for ages like arbites and groups that have been in lore but had no models like eldar corsairs, impirial navy and rogue traders. I'm more interested to see what we are getting in the future like potentially getting a different guard regiment like vostroyans or dark admech and not all just standard marines.
Your blooded look great! I play the blooded as well. What models did you use for them?? Would love to see a short video displaying your kill team sometime. Also keep up the work I really enjoy your videos ❤
thank you Matt this means a lot! I essentially run every character possible with two gunners, one melta, one plasma. Not sure when I’d be able to show off my blooded in a video but maybe I can squeak in some footage at some point for ya
Space msrines: ignore the team except for deathwatch, but deathwatch is good even now. (either double plasma or the double melee monster build) Pathfinders: if they over powered in your local meta, your local meta sets up terrain wrong.
they seem pretty strong but also take a bit of skill to use properly from what i’ve seen. due to the recent nerfs to the team i’m a bit unsure of how good they are in terms of the overall meta, but they have a lot of tools to work with so I don’t think they’ll ever be too bad unless they seem some major nerfs
With money part - true, especially if NOT buying kt-specific terrains. SImplicity part - "visibility" rules are nightmary in comparison to regular 40k, or something they added in Arks of Omen.
So if I wanted to make a kill team from my 40k army (assuming I don't just buy a kill team box), how many/what models are allowed? Is there a point limit? (For reference o have Necrons, Space marines, and nids as armies)
every team has their own list of operatives their allowed to run for each team, wahapedia is the best place to look at what models are and aren't allowed to be run in killteam. Necrons usually have a cryptek + immortals & deathmarks, space marines have intercessors, phobos, and scouts, while nids can take either warriors, genestealrs, or hormagaunts
For the most part yeah, it depends on what war gear options you take. Kill team often lets you take more specials and mix and match your units more, whereas 40k you're only allowed one or two special weapons per squad.
Got this far 1:18 decided to head out, idk if you said this in the video but… the issue Warhammer has is that when it’s not your turn, player engagement is abysmal. Killteams greatest strength is that your engagement is 80% for the duration of the game. The higher the engagement the “better” the game IE monopoly vs catan. 🍻

Great comment man, thanks :)
I won't lie, I love the idea of kill team, but the symbols as a movement system will forever baffle me
Yeah bit of an odd design decision but oh well lmao
Kill Team is good for new players but damn the Karsakin need to be buffed to hit on 3s
The only official setting where i can play as Thunder Warriors
Kill Team fills the void left by no one playing Infinity, my favorite tabletop game
Great Video!!
Thank you!
Ay nice video as always
Thank you Random Guy, much appreciated :)
I am really surprised that 10th ed 40K went the way it did after 8th ed Apocalypse and Kill Team 2021 introduced Alternating Activations.
Radical dude
Super radical
I dunno, it's worth a look.
nice gran turismo music
haha ty ty, i found some bangers in a youtube playlist i couldn’t pass up
Another downside is that new boxes sells out fast, still waiting for space cops to get a seperate release.
yeah the latest box for the ashes of faith sold out in seconds it was pretty horrible
Shadow Wizard Money Gang!!! RIP Dark and Darker!
Stuff has been wild with that game! might even make a video on it… stay tuned
If I get a kill team box, could I eventually and legally put those figures to use in a “full” 40k game down the road?
Hi, great video!
What’s that red art of Star striders 9:53 ?
ay thank you! it comes from one of their reveal trailers, you should be able to find it on the warhammer youtube channel
Can I pick an imperial guard box (the catachan jungle fighters for example) and play kill team with it ?
In South Austin nearly half the KT scene is Phobos.... Love using my Talons of the Emperor to dab on them :P
Corvus Belli’s Infinity: a better way to Kill Team.
Wargames from publishers other than GW don't exist
@@malakimphoros2164 said like a slave
I still need to open by box of Kroot Kill Team. I'm still painting my Tau Combat Patrol!!!
As a manchild with just a little more money than i know what to do with right now, I'm still more interested in the regular tabletop, but more ways to interact with the universe is always good
(Also its more material for proxies)
Nice vid dawg, one suggestion is to just ask for my professional advice because I am the undefeated king out of all of us
I will crush you tomorrow.
Also thanks for the support dawg lmao
$50 to get into KT? Maybe first edition, but doesn't the core book and compendium cost $50 each now?
if you use free access to those things on sites like wahapedia it helps trim down the cost a bit which is what i tend to do
@@Noot_Official yeah, but once upon a time you could get the entire set of rules from GW for $40 in a single book
I wonder what you’d say about blades of Khaine! They’re a new Craftworlds team that has a lot more depth
The day I can run terminators in kill team is the day I try it
Space msrines: ignore the team except for deathwatch, but deathwatch is good even now. (either double plasma or the double melee monster build)
Pathfinders: if they over powered in your local meta, your local meta sets up terrain wrong.
thoughts on the inquisitorial?
they seem pretty strong but also take a bit of skill to use properly from what i’ve seen. due to the recent nerfs to the team i’m a bit unsure of how good they are in terms of the overall meta, but they have a lot of tools to work with so I don’t think they’ll ever be too bad unless they seem some major nerfs
Where is the beastmen and votan ?
When are you going to do a Kill Team video?
Work in progress, u can try and come back in 6 months I should have something then
I personally prefer a nice goldfish box over cereal one
Depends on the flavor tbh
@@Noot_Official my house always has some regulars or rainbow in stow
I’m still new to Warhammer so I don’t know a lot right now but are you allowed to use kill team figures in regular Warhammer 9th edition?
Ay no worries, I am too. From what I understand most teams have respective rules for being played in 40K, but it’s a case by case basis
Navis were the first kill team I got their so damn fun and arnt really that complex they just have 0 range
they seem interest i might need to give them another read, sometimes i’m just a bit stupid
With money part - true, especially if NOT buying kt-specific terrains.
SImplicity part - "visibility" rules are nightmary in comparison to regular 40k, or something they added in Arks of Omen.
Deathwatch are good. Three plasma guns that can do 10 damage that bypass armor saves.
Necrons usually have a cryptek + immortals & deathmarks, space marines have intercessors, phobos, and scouts, while nids can take either warriors, genestealrs, or hormagaunts
oh my goid i got featured
you did! happy to see you in the comments again my friend
Dude the scouts are OP, get the high ground with some snipers and its game over.
the high ground is always a game winner
Newbie question, are models from kill team usable in the main 40k experience? And vice versa?
For the most part yeah, it depends on what war gear options you take.
Kill team often lets you take more specials and mix and match your units more, whereas 40k you're only allowed one or two special weapons per squad.
Just you wait Tyranids are gonna be a top tier kill team once 10th edition rolls around (I haven't won a game in 6 months)
you can dream nathan, you can dream…
play Kill Team 1e and take a lictor
what the throne, this is 7.81k channel with 700k quality
ur too kind bro, thank you lmao
Killwager: A Better Way to Wargame
Got this far 1:18 decided to head out, idk if you said this in the video but… the issue Warhammer has is that when it’s not your turn, player engagement is abysmal. Killteams greatest strength is that your engagement is 80% for the duration of the game. The higher the engagement the “better” the game IE monopoly vs catan. 🍻
