Hanbit, you just fused two of my most favorite southern German pastries into a delicious masterpiece: The structure and most important ingredients of the Black Forrest Cake with a lighter, more elegant version of the Granatsplitter filling. (For those who don't know: Granatsplitter are filled with a heavier buttercream with cherries and cake, giving it a rustic cake pop style texture and covered in dark chocolate.) I am originally from the Black Forest and really appreciate you taking a classic cake to a higher level. Can't wait to make this cake for my birthday.

I did it! First time success! Birthday person was blown away. I did not have those canned cherries but I used premium jam to make those cherry spots on top of the filling and also the brushing syrup was cherry juice + liquid from cocktail cherries + vanilla extract.

Thank you Hanbit. How do you manage to do a smooth flat layer of cream? When I cut my cherries and add the cream on top and try to smooth it, it doesn't stay flat horizontal. It's tilted and distorted. Let me know if there is any tip I could follow. Thank you!

i made a genoise batter than will make me two cakes. i put half of it in a round pan and the other in a square pan ( both 6 inch and same batter ) after taking them out of the oven the round one sunk from the middle while the square one rised fine🥲 is there an explanation? i usually do this but using a round and a heart shaped 6 inch pans and i've never experienced this before
i went through what i did to try to figure out why , i poured have the batter into the round pan, added a little bit of coffee and milk to the rest of the batter Mixed and poured it into the other pan, is it possible that i undermixed the first one?

yeah it just didn't mix properly.
happened to me too, just let it sit at room temp for about 30min before whipping and it’s fine
