    I like how you put it ‘ ipad is your sketchbook in the digital age’ coming from you who’s been designing, sketching , rendering for years on trace. Designers just have to adapt. they have to evolve to these digital age gadgets. technology is our friend who can make our lives easier. best thing using an ipad is, you can sketch everywhere on plane, train, bus , coffeeshop and even by the beach, using the trace nahhh

      Akers Architectural Rendering Yes, evolve is the right word. To Learn it gradually , like maybe still draw in sketchpad or trace then take a photo using ipad then continue using procreate and so on till one gets comfortable. The jury is out on that one haha. I have tried to use it/like it several times, but maybe because I had already become very adept at Procreate, I found it difficult or maybe even unnecessary to learn a new UI, because other than being vector-based (the advantages ofwhich I get, believe me!) I didn't see any other advantages over Procreate. What am I missing? Would love to hear your favorite feature of Concepts app, and how it could add to the repertoire.

    Jim, great video. I have watched a few and purchased an iPad Pro. I have never been an illustrator, but has become essential for Architecture today. Do you or can you import sketchup models and do all of the coloring in Procreate? Also, will you or do you hold classes for Architects? Again, great video.

    • @iPadForArchitecture
      @iPadForArchitecture  4 роки тому +1

      So glad it was helpful, Scavuzzo & Assoc. As far as importing Skp models, I build a lot of my perspective views in Skp on my iMac then export/import the 2-D "scene" I want to the iPad and color that. Airdrop works great back and forth between the iMac and iPad. A lot of my renderings begin this way, and often as a super-basic Skp model with hardly any detailing, then I add all the details in Procreate. This lets me keep designing in Procreate, but I have found over the years that it is far more convincing to build views over a wireframe that is perspectively accurate. Many years ago we used to have to do those accurate perspective layouts by hand, but now Skp is ideal for doing that quickly. Thanks for your kind comments about the video!

      I confess to being one of those personality types that I just accept the limitations of any new medium (Apple Pencil on iPad glass screen for example) and try to do my best with that. Back when I was doing watercolor, I figured, if I can't do any better than this on my own, then no new squirrel or sable hair brush is going to make a difference. Can you expand on the "Morpholio vs Procreate" topic? I'm not an architect, but just a homeowner who loves to visualize remodel and landscape ideas. Sometimes I just want to doodle some spaceships. The only time I need a drafting program is when I need to submit scale drawings to the local permit office. Morpholio is $20/year, where as Procreate is $10/once. Will Morpholio be any better for a DIY remodeller, designer, and permit applicant?

    • @iPadForArchitecture
      @iPadForArchitecture  3 роки тому

      This is a great comment and something I've been meaning to do. I know almost nothing about Morpholio so I need to do a compare and contrast piece about the two options. Thanks so much. I will say that based on the little knowledge I have, I don't think Morpholio offers a precise "drafting option" or automatically measured drawing option, though they do have the "scales" and "protractors" built in. Also, can I ask you how you are using Procreate in your life? It really helps me figure out what tutorials to make next, thanks

      I really appreciate the feedback. I'm new to this...what's a better way to transition?

      @@iPadForArchitecture What is pretty normal here on youtube is just hard cutting between clips. It may seem like it would be jarring but i think it is what most people here are used to. The fading wouldnt be a problem if it wasnt so often. But since it is, just cutting with no transition would probably be better.

      I use the templates and scales I created. You can check them out at my website if interested. www.akersarchitecturalrendering.com/akers-architectural-rendering-youtube-procreate-brushset-grid-template-scale-rulers Thanks for your question. How are you using Procreate, @Atlanticmoon21?
