Just want to mention, that the guitar uses three volume knobs and one tone poti. The circuit is like that: Toggle switch in top position: You play the neck and middle pu. In the middle postion you play all pus. And in the down postion you play bridge and middle pu. The volume potis allow you to do a kind of equalization of your sound.

    • @Shred_The_Weapon
      @Shred_The_Weapon Рік тому +1

Yes. Otherwise Max wouldn’t have been able to do what he did near the end of the demo and demonstrate which ever setting he demonstrated, either the middle pickup or the two outside ones. If it only had the two volume controls like the Gibson original, that would’ve meant the toggle switch would only have selected the bridge, neck and bridge/middle.

I’ve had one for a little over a year, threw a roller bridge and some cheaper Wilkinson locking tuners and I would gig this guitar in a heartbeat, the neck is one of my favorites, built for speed, absolutely one of my favorite guitars and for the price, unbeatable, I highly recommend them, I’ll be adding a cherry sg style to my collection once shipping is back to normal. They are miles ahead of other manufacturers at this price point. Opens up an entire world of guitars most people might not ever get the chance to have. Very exited that you picked this up!

If I didn't already have the Epi version of this I would be tempted, love the look of the triple pup cream SG.
24 frets are sweet, and they even put the jack somewhere sensible instead of it being in the way of the controls, so that puts it ahead of the Epi.

And the neck joint is different to a real SG, real SGs have the neck joint on the 22nd fret, what leaves not much wood to glue to behind.
And as last I'd like to mention that Roswell is not a Thomann own brand of tuners, Music Store Professionell in Cologne/Germany, Thomann's biggest competitor, also sell guitars (their in-house-brand is called Jack & Danny) and they even sell Roswell PUs seperately, Thomann only offer more expensive brands of seperate PUs. You also get Roswell PUs on Amazon, at least here in Europe.

Yep, I have 3 Harley Benton Guitars. Love'um.
    1 Gibson EJ-200 "Copy" acoustic.
It was extremely beautiful straight out of the box. And the sound was equal to a Gibson EJ-200.
Why would I even spend $4,700 on a Gibson when I can spend $243.00 on a Harley Benton.
1 Gibson double cutaway Melody Maker Joan Jett style "Copy".
Awesome guitar exactly what I expected it to sound like, again equivalent with a Gibson.
1 Fender Fretless P-Bass The Jaco P "Copy".
    It's a Work Horse.
The way you can't tell it's not the real deal is the Head Stock. Look and Sound and playing ablity is Perfect.
So if I was going to add up all three guitars and buy them brand new how much would I have to spend. If it was the real deal I would say for all three $9,000.
    All 3 Harley Benton's: $763.00
*Gibson/Fender you better be watching there's a New Kid in Town.

Great vid man. Their mission is to make the best quality guitars at the absolute bottom price. It's kind of incredible really what they are able to do, and this SG style is no exception. Anyone should certainly be happy with it if it was their first guitar or something. I have not owned a Harley Benton yet, but i do own 3 Agiles, from Rondo Music of course, and of course they are also known as affordable guitars with high end appointments. Id love to know how these two brands stack up to each other. There are questionable Harley Benton reviews here on YT, but admittedly their quality seems to have picked up in the last year or two. Enough good reviews like this one, and i might have to finally bite on one!

I bought one much earlier in the year. My only complaint was that the tuning machines are garbage and needed replacing. Well, that turned into a rabbit hole because I could only find one brand of tuners that had a knob stem length long enough to clear the headstock. Even so, there is a fair amount of woodworking lutherie involved to get them right; it's beyond a DIY project. Great pickups on this guitar; this guitar and my Kramer Baretta ($179) are the only inexpensive guitars I have that I've not had to change the pickups on.

I ordered min at beginning of December 2020. I finally received mine 2 weeks ago. Things I like, knobs are silky smooth, 3 way switch is great. Pickups are good, I would like them a bit hotter. What I really don't like is the feel of of the tuning pegs, the plastic feels very bendable, almost like rubber and I feel like those would break off. Also, the tuners aren't quite lined up when they attached it. However, the fret work was amazing which is THE most important thing I was concerned with. First thing I did was to loosen the strings so I could polish the frets with some steel wool. Once I did that, it was buttery smooth. The strings that are on it I am going to guess are .10's and are pretty bright. I'll keep those on for a bit while I get used to it.

I love that guitar and ordered one back in April. After waiting 6 weeks, I checked the website and it was still out of stock for another 6 weeks. I didn't want to wait, so I ordered the DC580 Cherry instead, along with the Sierra Mist colored ST 62 and a double gig bag case. The Harley Bentons are amazingly good, but I do wish I could've gotten this one instead.

I've got the epiphone version of this guitar. It's a Les Paul Custom. It was presented to les paul in 1961 as a design for his signature guitar, but He HATED it, and it went on to become the SG.. Gibson have jumped on the chance to put Les Paul's name back on this as a custom re-release.
I can't moan at Gibson this time around, as you'd have to be insane not to look at this Triple Humbucker work of art and NOT feel a deep desire to own it and play it. I had actually put my money on a Schecter Damien elite fr, and when I went to collect it, my eyes alighted upon this (the epiphone version, not the Harley Benton ) and I immediately said "I want that, and the rest is history. Awesome guitar.

My wife ordered me a Harley Benton CST-24T in Ocean Flame for my birthday last month, and yeah, the shipping to Chicago is up to $75. That said, it cost a whopping $330 when all was said and done.
I couldn't be happier with it. The neck is super comfortable to play, the tone is incredible, it's beautiful to look at, and while I did have to make a few adjustments to it, the overall quality is excellent. I'm very impressed, and if I decide I want to add any more guitars to my collection, I'm going to take a long, hard look at Harley Benton again.

I've got a 1993 Gibson SG that I picked up second hand for 600 quid. It has been gigged and has some buckle rash but it hasn't gone through the paint if you get the picture. After I gave it a bit of TLC and I set it up it properly, it was as good as new so to speak. So, if anyone is interested in an SG, (or anything else), perhaps consider going for something second hand. The second hand market is always worth considering and there are some great instruments out there waiting to be had. You do need to be careful and do some homework but if you aren't in a hurry, you could find something pretty sweet for a very reasonable price. If you can actually try it out, that's even better. The internet is OK but if you can try it out before you part with your cash, that's generally a good idea. Yes, I know 600 quid isn't cheap but its al lot cheaper than a new one for about 2000 pounds. So, I'm happy, I'll tell you that.
One other thing probably worth mentioning. If I ever decide to sell it, I will probably get most or all of my money back. That's the good thing about second hand Gibson's, they tend to hold their value relatively well if you take care of them. Inexpensive guitars rarely hold their value so if you sell it, don't expect to get much for it. It is unfair but that's just how it is.

I wanted to buy one of these Gibson SG Standard '61 Maestro Vibrola in Vintage Cherry for a while. I went down to my local Guitar center here in Las Vegas and they had one in stock. I held it, the neck is outstanding the fret work is wonderful, the wood grain and color were so beautiful. I tuned it up and played a few cords and check the tuning, for sure it was out of tune. I fooled around trying to keep it in tune for three hours and became totally discouraged because this guitar was beautiful. So I did the only reasonable thing, I said to the salesman I am going to flip this Guitar Center pick, "blank side it stays here written side I buy it". It landed on written side so home with me it went, and boy am I glad it did. The next day I set out to find out why it wouldn't stay in tune and I discovered why, (fixed it) and now it's hard to knock it out of tune. First the tuning keys were loose and the screws holding the tuners on were striped from the factory, so i fixed that. Second the angle on the Vibrola is wrong from the factory, you need to tweak the angle and shim the Vibrola slightly, the E-string should not be touching the trem bar while in the resting position. Now i polish the frets and did a complete set up. This guitar now when using the Vibrola as intended will stay in tune wonderfully. This guitar is a great guitar and if you take the time and put in the work to set it up properly, YOU WILL LOVE THIS GUITAR! I think that from the factory they just assemble the parts and are done, not realizing or having the time that it needs to make this fine guitar function together as a whole instrument. Glad I took the time and made the purchase. This is an amazing Gibson Guitar after the corrections are made. I Have no connection with Gibson and I am not a professional Luthier, so if i can fix it this guitar is fixable.
    Thank you

And I think a Katana would be a great addition to your unboxing article. Though a Dao Broadsword would be pretty badass as well.

Something which the Harley Benton engineers did here that Gibson should consider implementing is the inclusion of the last 2 frets. In addition to everything that's desirable about this guitar from the heel down, the last 2 frecks are definitely one reason why this guitar this guitar is more tempting than anything else from the HB line.

Seriously considering this guitar. I have three HBs and have been impressed with all of them. I also own a Gibson LP Std, 2 Am Pro Strats, and several others. My only complaint about HBs is that the tuners can be hit or miss. Otherwise, exceptional value and well made guitars. People who called them “garbage” either bought one 5 years ago before they improved QC or are guitar snobs who think spending 2-3k on a guitar to play in their bedroom is a good decision. Btw, I would absolutely trust these guitars on stage. The pickups in all of mine are great.
