So glad you enjoyed it ritsu kaori! All of it was so, so tasty- we loved Kluang's food scene. Thanks for watching and commenting mate. Cheers, Sheena 😄😄😄
Cool the way Sheena says the beef noodles broth is like French onion soup. I get it. Great description. I love French onion soup but feel it's almost too concentrated sometimes. Super intense and delicious. Another great video, guys. 👍
Glad you got that reference Tosh. French Onion soup is Thomas's favourite soup. A few years ago we had friends around to watch the Tour de France- beforehand we went to this cheese shop which is more like a cave as it's underground in Melbourne CBD and bought a tonne of French cheese and then returned home to cook a hardcore French Onion soup. Kilos and kilos of onions went into that thing. We literally smelt like onions for days afterwards! Anyway, so glad you enjoyed this one Tosh- thanks for watching and commenting mate. Cheers, Sheena
🚴🇫🇷🧀👍 Great story. Love cheese. All styles, any milk. Mmm, mmm indeed.
Right with ya there! The only way I could get Sheena is watch the tour with me was the promise of cheese (she isn't a sports fan at all 😀😂) - Thomas
OMG !! You're at my hometown !!! I'm soo happy you came here !!
We loved it Hannum Asnan! I wish we'd had longer to explore more of the food there! Looking forward to getting back there soon. Thanks for watching this video and hope you enjoy the other Johor video we have coming up soon! Cheers, Sheena
How do you find all those crazy places? Every time, the food looks great and delicious. The biscuits did it for me this time.
😆😆😆😆 just call us professional food hunters 😂 It was awesome getting to see the biscuits being made! We loved the old school packaging and the flavour! Thanks for watching and commenting guys. Cheers, Sheena
there's definitely a lot more that Kluang can offer.. somehow I'm impressed of how much effort u both put to come up with the decision of what food to go after and the combination of meals is just insanely wonderful. Keep it coming and have fun with the food journey in Malaysia
Everywhere we visit we lament over the fact that we don't have enough tummy space nor video time to include more dishes Khairudin Abdullah! So glad you are enjoying the content, thanks for watching and hope you like what we have coming up on the channel mate! Cheers, Sheena

Hello again, Thomas, Sheena!!! Hi!
That Curry Mee!!! It's MEEE!! MINE!! All mine!!! And the Beef Noodles!! Cendol's my top 100 favorites.. Love the banana dress..
Hi Albie C K Wong! Hahahah I thought I'd go food themed for our Kluang video. OMG the curry mee and the cendol and the beef noodles- gosh everything we ate! We loved this day of food hunting. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed this one mate. Cheers, Sheena
I just came back from KL and miss the food so much!
I bet you ate really well JlovesC09!! You'll have to plan a trip back to Malaysia soon for more eating! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. Hope you enjoy our other Malaysia content! Cheers, Sheena
@Thomas, I am also very into a good comfort bowl of curry noodle. I admit I don't know much of Johor. When you enjoyed the Johor curry laksa, I am like nooooooooo this can't beat Penang or KL. It can't be 'perfection in a bowl' in Johor. I hope my Penang friends will scramble to find another worthy contender to Johor. You know how prideful the Penang (or Ipoh) guys are on their noodles.
Hi Vincent Chin, I replied to your comment yesterday but for some reason it's disappeared! Curry mee aren't my favourite noodle dish but I couldn't stop eating these ones. The broth had so much depth and the noodles had great texture. Looking forward to heading back to Penang and Ipoh to explore some more noodle dishes from those areas! Thanks for watching and commenting on this one. Cheers, Thomas
Sheena, really love your sweater.
😄😄😄 it’s a bit of fun isn’t it Louise? Thanks for watching and commenting on this one- feels like an age ago 😆 Hope you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena
BANG. Everything. I said everything in this video are me favorite. Always look for them first when eating out. If not available than eat something else. You guys make me salivate to the max watching this video. Keep on keep on
Woo hoo! So glad this video hit the spot noorhizat ebrahim! We loved it all too! Thanks for watching and so glad you enjoyed this one mate. Cheers, Sheena
Ok. That cendol looked so unlike anything I’ve had I would definitely try it. EVERYTHING looked good today! 😍 I’m starving.
If you ever visit Malaysia Kim Shelton you must try it! It's one of my favourite desserts/snacks in the world! Thanks for watching this one and hope you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena 😄
I enjoy Chasing a Plate with y’all and always looking forward to your next destination!
Thanks Kim Shelton! We head to India in a few days so watch out for that content coming up soon 😄 Have a brilliant day mate! Cheers, Sheena
That cendol we eat since our childhood 40 years ago and still good and authentic
Malayasian food is so awesome. We have a gazillion Thai restaurants in the US and they are all mediocre serving the same food, overly sweet Thai curry and greasy pad thai. We need more Malaysian restaurants in US!
Awesome is right Matthew Cho! Isn't it interesting how that always seems to be the case- it's the same in Australia and NZ- there are just so many Thai restaurants and very few Malaysian ones. Malaysian food is so varied and there is something to suit everyone's tastes, you'd really think they'd be more popular! Hope you enjoyed this video, thanks so much for taking the time to comment! Cheers, Sheena
I think Cuba St was where we had our first ever taste of Malaysian food way back when Leonard Carr! So glad to hear it's still pumping!! 😄 Cheers, Sheena
that looks so yummy 😋 and yes i am hungry 😭😭😭
Everything was so tasty Nina Fisol! Hope you get something in your tummy soon! Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoyed this one mate. Cheers, Sheena
kluang is my hometown!! im so excited!!
It's such an awesome place Berry Dewberry! I'm so glad we got to visit! Hope you enjoyed this video mate. Where are your favourite spots to eat in Kluang? Cheers, Sheena
Everything just looks SO good 🤤
Hi Kaleena9! Thanks for watching! This was one brilliant food day! 😋 Hope you enjoyed the video. Cheers, Thomas 😀
U don't sound stuffy anymore here sheena,u look better. i can see u enjoy the food,it taste much better when u are healthy😁😁😁 stay well both of u ...looking forward next video😉cheers
Hahaha it tasted so much better introverted guy! Thanks for watching this one mate and hope you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena 😄😄😄
Hai....u should try mee bandung and nasi beriyani gam when you come to johor.
Hi Ayong khamsiah, we tried both and loved them! Check them out here: ua-cam.com/video/1j_Msrq3Zfo/v-deo.html Thanks for watching and commenting on this one- hope you enjoyed the video! Cheers, Sheena
You should try Nasi Ujang at Kluang. I always go there when I visit my "kampung". It's near to Kluang railway station. Just down the street. Hahaha. Probably next time guys. Glad you're enjoying food right here in Malaysia. 😊
OMG Aizat Azman! We walked all around town trying to find Nasi Ujang and also put out an IG story when we were in Kluang asking if anyone knew where we could eat it! As you can see we failed in our mission 😝 We'll have to head back and try it! Thanks for watching this one and hope you enjoyed it. We LOVE Malaysia and its amazing food! Cheers, Sheena
Hi Thomas and Sheena! I would like to point out I think the tofu skin Thomas was talking about looks more like fish maws, it is dried swim(air) bladders. From the looks of it one piece is tofu skin but one is fish maw.
Hi Tifa, you're totally right! We realised once we ate it but we didn't film a segment for the video about it. It was soooo tasty- that curry mee was amazing. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment mate. Cheers, Sheena 😄
Yo that curry mee is to die for 😍
Oh man Joshua Yared it was INSANELY good. I barely got a look in because Thomas wolfed the whole bowl so quickly! Thanks for watching and commenting mate. Cheers, Sheena
U need to try kacang pol. It's one of johor specialties
So gutted we ran out of time to try it nabilah halimi! I hope we can get back to Johor soon so we can visit. Thanks for watching this one and hope you enjoyed it. Cheers, Sheena

Mmm... Curry noodles, my favourite...😋❤
This one was sooooo good Genji! I'm a real fan too. What's your favourite ingredient in a bowl of curry mee? Thanks for watching and commenting mate. Cheers, Sheena
Oooooooo good choice!!! 😍 I love the tofu puffs! Have a great night Genji! Cheers, Sheena
Chasing a Plate - Food and Travel Channel tofu puff, not bad.. Anyway, Have a wonderful night as well. Have enough rest and hope your channel will grow.😉❤👍
have you reach Sibu sarawak malaysia? if you wanna come here, its better 31st may because it is Gawai festival and u can try Ayam pansuh, umai ikan and other local food from sarawak. you also can try our local iban costume.
Hi Norsharvina Mohd Misyam, ahhhh one place that is still on our travel bucktlist! We'd love to get back to Sarawak- our time there was far too short. Hope you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
Thomas and Sheena, when you finished the broth you can always request a top up of the broth without any charge throughout Malaysia.
So good to know Hang Tuah! Thanks for that! 😍 Hope you enjoyed this video- we loved our time road-tripping around the smaller towns. Thanks for watching and commenting Hang Tuah. Cheers, Sheena
You guys make me hungry again!!
😆 time for snack Green Tea! Hope you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
Chasing a Plate - Food and Travel Channel hahaha dont worry im really enjoyed it! 💖💖💖💖💖💖
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Hi Sheena and Thomas! I am always impressed by the effort you guys put in to your research to make sure all your details are correct. This time I am fascinated by Thomas’ translation of the word “kacang”. To me, “kacang” is just a collective Malay word for nuts, beans and peas, because Malay language doesn’t give any distinction between tree nuts and legumes. Thomas, you sound like one of those pedantic biologists who would insist that “Peanuts are NOT nuts! They are technically legumes!” LOL!!😂 Glad you guys enjoy one of my home states, Johor! Cheers, Wan from Dunedin.
😂😂😂😂😂 it was quite a scientific explanation wasn't it Wan Salim? 😝 I think just saying it is a collective word for nuts, beans and peas would have been simpler! Thanks for watching this one- we had a great time exploring Kluang and there was so much we didn't have time or enough stomach space to eat! Hope we can get back soon. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Thomas
Hi Thomas and Sheena, thanks for such a great video from my hometown Kluang.just a bit of opinion about Kluang Railway coffe. Instead of drinking a cham, why dont you try the original kopi tarik? The coffe shop gains its name for its homemade coffe bean, and it has been operational for 3 generations since 1938.people from all over malaysia and even singaporean had come to the shop just to taste its homemade kaya toast and coffee...
Hi Khaidir Khai, thanks for watching and commenting and you make such a great point 😆😆😆😆 Thomas drank a coffee but not a kopi tarik from memory! Sometimes we're so in our heads thinking about the content and filming that we miss the obvious. BUT this just means that we'll have to return and make sure we include it in our next video in Kluang 😄😄😄😄😄 We loved your town! Hope you enjoy the rest of our Malaysia series mate. Cheers, Sheena
Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena thanks sheena 😊
Great video! I will never get why western culture can't embrace a savory breakfast. All over Asia you have so many great choices for breakfast over than standard western style. I'm actually surprised that kaya toast hasn't caught on in the US. Most people here like coconut, maybe it's the pandan that throws people off.
Thanks Michael, so glad you enjoyed it! It's a funny thing isn't it? I reckon breakfast is the one meal of the day where people can be really set in their ways. Neither of us have that hang up at all- anything goes 😝 I'm sure it's the same with you after spending so long in Asia. Thanks for watching and commenting mate and a huge THANK YOU for becoming our first Patron!! 😄😍 Cheers, Sheena
I assure you I wanted to give more. But I had to reduce down my Patreon support ahead of our elections in the US. NOTE: Chasing a Plate has no political opinion related to me but I'm having to shift a lot of money into various political races so we can make a critical change in the US and will leave it at that. Again This is my sole opinion and not the channels.
Every dollar makes a difference- thank you. Let's just say Chasing a Plate supports your endeavours towards making a vital change!!
Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena upgraded my pledge, want to see you both get to explore further. I will be annoyingly commenting along as you expand your travels.
That's very kind Michael, thank you. And we love receiving your comments- they are not annoying in the slightest!
Very good food always eat. Malaysian food very good healthy food and fresh fruits very nice thank you for sharing your video .Sheena don,t full your face or sharing your body as well you look nice keep it that way . We love it what you eating they can keep for month in a cool place .

Totally I live inside your house! Everything was amazing. Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoyed this one mate. Cheers, Sheena
Kluang is my hometown, all these foods are mostly Kluang people childhood taste, indeed u should try"ming xiang curry mee(at jalan Yap tau sah start at 1PM) "which is much better than Botak curry mee, and my relative own a hainanese coffee shop is also hidden coffee shop known as( Kedai kopi Jia Yuan嘉园) and u must try their foods in between 12pm -1pm, otherwise their foods will sold out before 3pm. so many hidden best foods which not many outsider know. Next time u should go Rengam small town to try the hakka wan ton mee.
Thanks for those awesome tips lcb8888!! Looking forward to heading back to Johor and ticking off all the dishes and eateries we missed out on during this trip. Those Hakka wan ton mee sound well worth eating too! Thanks for watching and commenting mate. Cheers, Sheena

Hi Syafiq Azman, we love Kuching! We were there briefly last year- check out our playlist if you're keen ua-cam.com/video/5oj6OQw546g/v-deo.html We ate some amazing things and can't wait to get back. Hope you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena

Watch out for a Muar segment in the next video Shahami SuMiYa! 😄 Hope you enjoyed this one and thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena
Most of them had butter, but you need to specify when you ordered or else as usual you would be given "margarine'>Butter is normally given separately in a slice of butter for you to spread around
Oh yes very true about the separate slice leo pang! Thanks for the info! Cheers, Sheena
next destination.. Mersing!!!
We totally need to get over there sometime soon FusionMadness! Thanks for watching this one and hope you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena
Thomas have you been to negeri sembilan, if you nearby there go and eat at the mubarak seafood their seafood are the best
Thanks Black Rose! We have never been to Negeri Sembilan which is crazy as we love masak lemak cili api. We will have to get there soon. Thanks so much for the recommendation- we will definitely try and visit Mubarak Seafood. Thanks for watching Black Rose, hope you enjoyed this one. Cheers, Sheena
1 epic food video. Minus out tht beef noodle, the rest is superb looking good. Need to clarify here, the big pcs of "so call beancurd skin" that thomas eat is actually looks like pig skin to me. In certain curry noodle without that the taste is slightly diff. Great job guys..love the video..!!
Hi True Believer, glad you enjoyed this one! It was actually fish maw- once we ate it we realised- it was soooo tasty. In fact the whole bowl was epic. Hmmmm could totally eat a curry mee right now! Thanks for watching mate. Cheers, Sheena
Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena
Hi..i think that True believer is right...fish maw and pig skin looks quite similar but fish maw is very expensive so mostly been put in expensive dishes or special occasion ie CNY or wedding ...in street food they normally add pig skin especially in curry noodles..
That's so interesting Dan Le and True Believer! Well they had us fooled 😂 I suppose when they put it in the curry noodles it soaks up the flavour of the broth and then it's really just the texture rather than the taste that you notice so much. Thanks for that you guys! Cheers, Sheena
I'm starving now!!
Hope you had a snack near by! This was such a great food hunting day! Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Thomas 😀
I am guessing that you are going to eat in Muar, Johor after this video :)
You would guess right Ran hat! 😄 Hope you enjoyed this one mate and like the video that's coming up soon! Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Sheena
Must is also incredible
Bro, you missing kluang ramly burger !!!
that must try ...haha
Sounds good! We’ll have to try it next time! We were only there during the day to make this video so will have to return at night for a Ramly Burger 🍔😋 Thanks for watching! Cheers, Thomas 😀
I thought it was taiwan or malaysia, where you got a kinf of egg-fishing net over your food. in the end of that film you went back to that shop or foodstall. Now after 3 days i did not find it. so please, to louise.loves2cook@gmail.com. haha, my husband will be happy as well. thanks a lot.
Hi Louise, I just emailed you 😄 Hope it's the video you're thinking of! Cheers, Sheena
Sheena you're such a cendol freak, lol. Love seeing your pleasure with this dessert, it makes me want to try though at first my Western culture says noodles and beans in a dessert? Thx for opening my mind!
😂😂😂😂😂 I actually am SuzyGrowsMyBiz!! I literally just found hiding in my backpack a hand drawn picture of a bowl of cendol that I bought in Malaysia on our last visit- I’m so obsessed 😆 If you ever get a chance to try it you must- it is absolutely delicious 😍 thanks for watching this one 😘 Cheers, Sheena
They use margarine for the Kaya bun ,unless you ask for a piece of butter slice(butter is very expensive at Malaysia)
For that price margarine is used.
That's good to know leo pang although do you think it varies from place to place? We've definitely had butter served with our toast at Yut Kee in KL and it was NZ butter to boot 😄 Thanks for this info- hope you enjoyed the video leo pang! Cheers, Sheena
I cancel my plan to collect my parcel at poslaju after work & end up with a bowl of vitnamese beef noodle soup after watching your vid. 😂😂😂

I love how most dishes do not have mushrooms in them, because I just can’t take the aroma, much less the flavor or taste. Why do you think, in the USA, so many “foreign”, especially Asian, dishes include them?
Hi 5cats 2kids, thanks for watching and commenting! My parents used to own Chinese takeaways and mushrooms were always included in the Westernised stir-fry dishes. But at home, mushrooms were only ever used in dishes which specifically called for them not just thrown in willy nilly into every dish. I think in part it’s because they’re so readily available, stand up to the type of cooking say in stir-fries and so have just become one of the regularly used vegetables? Cheers, Sheena
Bro you need coffee when you eat that kind of kueh, because a bit dry.
haha totally! We were great the next morning with a kopi 😋 Thanks for watching. Cheers, Thomas 😀
Chasing a Plate - Food and Travel Channel i have them yesterday my friend brought all the way from Taiping Perak,i love it.
Omg the Taiping ones are SO GOOD!!! Enjoy shela kroes! Cheers, Sheena
That tiny Nasi Lemak has no egg, anchovie, or piece of meat. I thought I saw a piece of Pork Skin or Chicharon in that bowl of curry noodles? Only wish to see how they prep and made those mung bean paste. It's easy to stuff it right into the pastries.
Thank you for this amazing saliva-drolling video 😁😁😁
So glad you enjoyed it mate! There was so much tasty food to eat in Kluang!! Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
I eating cendol without the cendol, sounds funny right hahahahaha because i can't accepted the taste of cendol. So normally i will ordered the coconut milk with the palm sugar mix with the red bean or corn hahahaha
Hahahaah really anna hashim? Do you like other pandan flavoured things? Mmmmm the coconut milk and gula melaka combination is so tasty! Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoyed this one mate. Cheers, Sheena
Saye dlu pon sama jgak, tapi lama2 da boleh mkan, mngkin awk kne try lagi..
abdul hakim ok, nanti boleh try lagi, sebab saya x dpt nak rasa "flavour pandan" dekat cendol tu 😂😂😂 sometimes klu order makcik cendol mesti senyum je hahahaha
I was counting the peanuts in the nasi lemak, no fried fish or dried fried anchovy nor cucumber in sight. Let me guess the price tag, RM 1?
Hi Will anand, it was a very simple one indeed! Tasty though! Can't remember how much it was but it can't have been much. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed this one. Cheers, Sheena
I tried nasi lemak numerous times, but I don't love it. Same with a lot of Malay dishes, they are too sweet for me. I do not love savory foods that are laced with too much sugar.
Hi オオシマジュン, ahhh yes I can understand that. I wonder if Chinese style nasi lemak are as sweet? I hope you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
Thanks for the fast reply Sheena! I do enjoy your videos wholeheartedly.
Thanks for your support オオシマジュン! Hope you like the content we have coming up mate- HK, Taiwan and Tokyo! Cheers, Sheena
Thomas kacang in Malay is peanut. Please don’t spout nonsense if you don’t know.
Nope, you're wrong Anthony Lim, kacang in Malay is a collective word for nuts and legumes. Cheers, Sheena

stop doing the mmm mmm it ends up annoying
Just having a great time, enjoying the food, being myself and living my best life. If it annoys you, there's plenty more out there to watch. Cheers, Sheena
Your foodie journey , don’t get offended , very ordinary . Be more amusing next time .
Most people get offended being called monkeys like you did to us in your previous comment. Name calling towards anyone isn’t welcome around here. Thanks for watching anyway. Thomas
Keep our conversation civil , just my honest thoughts .
Huh? You called us monkeys and we mentioned we weren’t to found of that. Totally civil from us. We don’t appreciate being called monkeys though and find that rather uncivil. Doesn’t worry us if you’re not into our content. Plenty more out there to watch. Thomas
In social media , one voice one accord is by far impossible . Divided opinions deemed helpful .
The world is full of divided opinions. That’s just normal. As we said we don’t mind if you don’t like our content. We certainly don’t like every video on YT. What we don’t do is go around calling people names. That is just rude and we don’t accept anyone calling us, or anyone else, names in our comment section. Lots more at there that you might enjoy more.
