I've been spoiled with an Argentinian asado last week, I miss those spicey street food and well-flavoured sauces. The story of those curry puffs is great!
Hi guys, OMG the recent video of your asado was INSANE. It looked mouthwatering! We love discovering the stories behind the food, thanks for watching this one and we hope you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena
That yellow nail polish was a perfect counterpoint to the blue nasi kerabu Sheena! It looked seriously good. In another life Thomas was a gunslinger with a pistol in each hand. In this life, he's got a curry puff in each hand, hence the double action.I must try that! Glad to see you two back in KL again. And please keep coming back. Cheers, Andrew
Hi TheAndrewFernandez, hahahah I thought the nail situation worked out well too Andrew! Hahah and yes, double curry puff action- pretty much the way to go from now on. Hope you enjoyed this one mate, we had a lot of fun filming this one. KL is such a cool place- we love it! Thanks for commenting and hope you like what we have coming up on the channel. Kia Ora! Thanks so much for watching and for your kind words! Have you just been in KL?? Isn't that claypot chicken amazing!!! We've tried a number of times to get back there since we filmed but sadly it has never worked out. Hopefully we get to have that meal again ASAP! Thanks very much Shazza Leone! Cheers, Thomas 😀😀
@@ChasingaPlate I live in PJ, abt 20mins drive out of KL.A fren and i went out one nite a few weeks ago and just decided to check this place out. Thanks to Uncle Google 😜.. and i hv bn back to this heavenly claypot chicken rice a few times already, impressing my other foodie frens.I am a bit of purist when it comes to food and believe me, this is THE original ol school KL claypot chicken rice flavour! I hv even made friends wt the chatty ladyboss who gave us a rundown of their history.. 😂 Yea i am a bit of a foodie.Lived in Sydney for a good many years and most of my friends loved Malaysian food too now 😚 I tell ya, nothing beats the crazy variety of cultural culinary cooking and headspinning choice of food in Msia! 😋 hope to stay in touch, mate and maybe gimme a bell if you drop in for another visit.
A fellow purist! Love it! Bet you are loving being back in Malaysia and the street food culture after your time in Sydney. Bet your list of things to eat was a mile long when you first got back! Hope you enjoy the rest of our Malaysia series Shazza Leone. Cheers, Sheena
@@ChasingaPlate hi Thomas Hi Sheena ! Yea loving it and i got the girth to show for it 🤣🤣. 15 yrs in Sydney in the 90's did wonders.Forced to learn how to make some of my favorite street food like these.Chow kuey tiaw, claypot chicken rice etc.But i dont hv to now.You can go thru a whole year eating different food without repeating any of it here in Msia.😊 Sheena.can i ask where did you come from? You hv a strong kiwi accent but i am wondering if you originated from Msia as well.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 life is short, glad you are enjoying yourself Shazza Leone! I am Kiwi Chinese- born and bred in New Zealand. My parents are from Hong Kong 😄 We're so jealous of your easy access to amazing food!! You're so right that you can eat, eat, eat and never repeat in Malaysia!! I'm from malaysia and just came across your channel and subscribed it after viewing the first video. I'm currently not well-hyperemesis gravidarum (vomitting everyday and unable to eat anything else other than toast)..and to calm me down I watch your videos everyday imagining i'm enjoying the food with you guys. Thank you Thomas and Sheena 😍
Hi hidayatul fariha, oh you poor thing- that sounds ghastly! We hope you recover very soon and we are so glad that you can eat vicariously through our videos with us whilst you're feeling ill. We love the food culture in Malaysia so much- the food hunting is epic! Sending loads of xoxox and wishing you a very speedy recovery!! Cheers, Sheena 😘
It was a totally winner Rebecca! And such theatrics with the way they cook it too 😄 so glad you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching 😘 Cheers, Sheena
@@ChasingaPlate It sure is. I am going to try and recreate it. I have Vietnamese coffee down pat, just have to get my pouring accurate. I can get frozen paratha from ALDI and can whip up a good curry sauce, so Roti Canai, here I come. Easier than going 120Km by train down to Sydney, though there is a great place, Mamak, down there which does all the standard M’sian street foods. I am even toying with the idea of knocking up a Satay Bbq. How are things in NZ? We are in lockdown till at least the end of the week, though there is talk of it going on till the end of August. Starting to get a bit of Cabin Fever, though at least I have my 2 darling companions, my Greyhounds. They are better company than humans, except that they hog my bed.
@@carlclifford64 so glad you have your dogs to keep you company 😍 hope things are contained quick and you’re out of lockdown soon. Can’t complain here! We love Mamak! We used to always visit the one in Melbourne- standard order for 3 of us was- satay, rojak, roti canai, mee goreng and if still feeling a bit peckish an order of ayam goreng 😆 Ahhh ALDI- how I miss that place!
All the food in this video look so good, especially the cendol durian, the blue rice, and the claypot rice. You guys will get much more views by providing subtitles in multiple languages especially now when people can't travel.
Hi Lydia 12! I think exactly the same thing! I absolutely love when I smell it on the street and I think it's a lovely scent 😋 Thanks so much for watching this one and taking the time to comment! Cheers, Thomas 😀
Me too Su-Ling Chia! It's so impossible to have an ultimate favourite isn't it?! Everything is much too tasty. So glad you enjoyed this one mate and hope you like what we have coming up on the channel. Cheers, Sheena
Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena I have always enjoyed all your video contents, Thomas and Sheena. I noticed you have slowed down of late in uploading new video contents. Are you both very busy planning for your upcoming food adventure out of Malaysia?
How great is KL? I want at least one of everything in this video. That nasi kerabu looked epic. Makes a bowl of commercial cereal look spectacularly sad. And as for that satay... all the way baby.
I know right?! Asian breakfasts are so vibrant compared to regular cereal but breakfast seems to be that one meal where people are pretty inflexible- they want what they know 😆 Love the look of all the delicious breakfasts you cook up- your IG feed is awesome!! Thanks for watching and commenting Jennifer! Cheers, Sheena
So neat that you enjoyed this one Pete Nah! We miss food hunting in KL- far out you can eat so well there! Big love back and hope you enjoy what we have coming up on the channel. Cheers, Sheena
Awesome Sylvie PAYET, so glad we can help you with your eating itinerary! You'll eat so well in KL! Thanks for watching and commenting on this one. Cheers, Sheena
Hi Thomas and Sheena!! Loved this video and your enthusiasm for food, which I share!! I turned into a foodie on my first trip to Vietnam in 2017, so now I travel for food :-). I was thinking that when I visit Malaysia, since it's so close, I also visit Singapore. But since I like old culture and architecture and Singapore is very modern, the food would be my focus. From videos I've seen - it seems the food types and recipes in Singapore are very similar or the same as found in Malaysia for the most part. Is that correct? If that were the case, then if that is my focus, I should eat only in Malaysia, and not spend the time or expense to visit Singapore and visit somewhere instead?
Hi magicbobNJ, thanks so much for watching and we are delighted to hear that you share our love of food! You’re right, you’ll see lots of similarities between the food in Malaysia and Singapore. We’ve spent lots of time in both and we would have to say that Malaysia would always be our pick over the two. It’s more raw if you get what I mean, it’s much more affordable to travel around and the food scene is just wonderfully diverse. Hope that helps mate! Have a wonderful time and eat all the things! 👊Cheers, Sheena
Hi Ashwin Kumar, thanks so much for supporting our channel 😀 We hope you are enjoying our videos! We love chatting to our subscribers in our comments section- it's great to connect with the people who are watching our videos and supporting us 😍 Cheers, Sheena

Hi guys, love your shows and I feel like i'm right there with you! As a Malaysian, I would recommend a trip to Temerloh, Pahang our patin fish capital and do try the Ikan Patin Tempoyak it's sour & fatty and durian flavoured I hope u LOVE IT the way I do. There are a few good ones but the one I know is Pak Usop Ikan Patin which is just by the river in Temerloh. Enjoy!
Hi Little Gesto, thanks so much for your comment and we're so happy you are enjoying our videos and feel like you're right there with us food hunting. It's what we love to hear! Thanks so much for your recommendation. We only ate Ikan Patin Tempoyak bakar in Kuantan (ua-cam.com/video/HEqvdeHusuY/v-deo.html) as we ran out of time to get to Temerloh but we would love to visit one day. Thanks for the recommendation mate! Popping it on the list. Hope you like what we have coming up on the channel mate. Cheers, Sheena

Hi Khom Arkom, thanks for watching and commenting! We have sampled the nasi kerabu in Kelantan- it was delicious! And so different to the one in this video! We love it Faezma Faez! We were just in KL and managed to have pulut durian on our last night in town so we're happy we got a fix which should tie us over for a while. Do you like it? Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoyed this video! Cheers, Sheena
Good review guys :) I am impress that you guys are willing to go off the beaten road and pay attention to Malay food which is constantly neglected. Btw, your Malay pronunciation is impressive as well. cheers from a ex-malaysian :)
Hi Eugene Su, thanks for watching and we're glad you enjoyed this video! We're all about eating what and where the locals eat when we travel- we totally agree that Malay food is very under-represented! We don't have much of it in NZ where we are from so it was brilliant being able to explore the cuisine more during our time in Malaysia. Whereabouts do you live now? And do you have access to good Malaysian food where you are? Hope you enjoy our other Malaysia videos mate! Thanks for taking the time to comment. Cheers, Sheena
Hi Genji, yep what Salmi Ghazali said 😄😍 It's one of my favourite Malay dishes! And I'm a huge satay and curry puff fan too. Mmmmmm so tasty! Thanks for watching mate, hope you enjoyed this one. Cheers, Sheena
😆😆😆😆 hope you have a delicious lunch planned Masriah Ismail seeing as we've made you so hungry! Thanks for watching this one and we're so glad you enjoyed it. Cheers, Sheena
You guys becoming Malaysian slowly. The chili and soy sauce Msian call it “cili potong” means cut chili”. N you can always ask for it at any shop or restaurant that you went to.
I also love scrapping the bottom of the claypot for the crispy bits of rice and mix them with the soy and chilly padi sauce just to make it more tastier 🤣😁
Yayyyyy!!! This was a brilliant food day! We love KL and these are some really special spots to eat there. Thanks so much for watching this one! Cheers, Thomas 😀
Hi Ahmad Idrus! Thanks for watching this one and we hope you enjoyed it! We LOVE the food in KL. That is a great question re the black balls. We have absolutely no idea! Anyone else out there able to help???? Hopefully someone has an answer for us! Thanks again for watching. Cheers, Thomas 😀
You guys should mix the claypot rice immediately once it is on your table because the longer you let it sit, the more the rice will stick to the claypot. Sometimes the rice might burn too due to the residual heat from the claypot. Anyways, really good food spots you guys have chosen!
Hi Toh Jing Wei, yes, you're so right but unfortunately that is the life of a food UA-camr 😆😅 We have to get all the shots first before we dig in so inevitably our food is not always at its prime. When it tastes amazing despite this, you know you're onto some good food! So glad you enjoyed this one, thanks for watching and commenting and we hope you enjoy our other Malaysia videos. Cheers, Sheena

Mmmm the satay was so good Nice Guy! I thought the cendol durian was quite pricey too before we got the bowl. After we finished though I thought it was quite justified as there was about 3 big bits of durian in it and we were very full even with sharing one. Thanks for watching and commenting mate. You really like Cendol - you seemed to have tried a million varieties already, each one different from the others. Your videos are not only delicious, also very pretty. Are your clips straight out of the camera or do you have a special technique to edit? I want to learn to make good-looking videos like you.

Cheers, Sheena
Watch both of you eat and drink it make my mouth watering

I live in PJ, abt 20mins drive out of KL.A fren and i went out one nite a few weeks ago and just decided to check this place out. 😂
Yea i am a bit of a foodie.Lived in Sydney for a good many years and most of my friends loved Malaysian food too now 😚 I tell ya, nothing beats the crazy variety of cultural culinary cooking and headspinning choice of food in Msia!
15 yrs in Sydney in the 90's did wonders.Forced to learn how to make some of my favorite street food like these.Chow kuey tiaw, claypot chicken rice etc.But i dont hv to now.You can go thru a whole year eating different food without repeating any of it here in Msia.😊
Sheena.can i ask where did you come from? You hv a strong kiwi accent but i am wondering if you originated from Msia as well.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 life is short, glad you are enjoying yourself Shazza Leone! I am Kiwi Chinese- born and bred in New Zealand. My parents are from Hong Kong 😄 We're so jealous of your easy access to amazing food!! You're so right that you can eat, eat, eat and never repeat in Malaysia!! Hope you enjoy the content we have coming up mate. Cheers, Sheena
the way u describe the food just ooohh..ahhhhh... so sensational
😍😍😍😍 so glad you enjoyed this one cikshamanja 😄 we can’t wait to get back to KL for more food hunting. Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoy the rest of our Malaysia content! Cheers, Sheena
Claypot rice and chicken is heavenly. Everything looked tasty.
It was a totally winner Rebecca! And such theatrics with the way they cook it too 😄 so glad you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching 😘 Cheers, Sheena
Love Curry Puffs. two CPs and a Teh Terik is my perfect breakfast.
My mouth is watering! I love teh tarik 🤤 such a comforting drink. Thanks for watching and commenting Carl. Cheers, Sheena
@@ChasingaPlate Bloody lockdown has just been extended by 2 weeks
All the food in this video look so good, especially the cendol durian, the blue rice, and the claypot rice. You guys will get much more views by providing subtitles in multiple languages especially now when people can't travel.
Thanks for watching mate. We’re glad you enjoyed this one. It was a neat video to film. Cheers, Thomas 😀
Thank you for your appreciation of durian! Can never understand when people think it smells nasty...
Hi Lydia 12! I think exactly the same thing! I absolutely love when I smell it on the street and I think it's a lovely scent 😋 Thanks so much for watching this one and taking the time to comment! Cheers, Thomas 😀
Epic street food tour in KL. I love all the food featured, they are fantastically delicious, and all are my favourites! 🤤🤤🤤😋😋😋👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Me too Su-Ling Chia! It's so impossible to have an ultimate favourite isn't it?! Everything is much too tasty. So glad you enjoyed this one mate and hope you like what we have coming up on the channel. Cheers, Sheena
Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena
I have always enjoyed all your video contents, Thomas and Sheena.
Cheers, Sheena
love u guys. feels like flying again in KL. much luck u!
So neat that you enjoyed this one Pete Nah! We miss food hunting in KL- far out you can eat so well there! Big love back and hope you enjoy what we have coming up on the channel. Cheers, Sheena

So great!!! Best ideas for me for the next month!!!!!
Thank you!

That food looks so good!!
This is awesome! Now I want cendol haha

You guys becoming Malaysian slowly. The chili and soy sauce Msian call it “cili potong” means cut chili”. N you can always ask for it at any shop or restaurant that you went to.
Hahahaha bring on the chilli! Thanks for watching this video Hana Isa, hope you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena
I also love scrapping the bottom of the claypot for the crispy bits of rice and mix them with the soy and chilly padi sauce just to make it more tastier 🤣😁

Awesome selection of foods, my favourite is of course the satay..but the cendol durian is quite pricey..
Mmmm the satay was so good Nice Guy! I thought the cendol durian was quite pricey too before we got the bowl. After we finished though I thought it was quite justified as there was about 3 big bits of durian in it and we were very full even with sharing one. Thanks for watching and commenting mate. Cheers, Sheena
The curry puffs look similar to a British pasty....yum!

You really like Cendol - you seemed to have tried a million varieties already, each one different from the others. Your videos are not only delicious, also very pretty. Are your clips straight out of the camera or do you have a special technique to edit? I want to learn to make good-looking videos like you.
We are slightly obsessed Brenda Benoît Dudley 😝 I'd been dying to try the durian cendol for ages so I'm glad we ticked it off the list finally! Pretty much what you see in the video is what we film on the day. Thomas just taught himself to edit from a UA-cam video 😆 I think he does a pretty amazing job! Thanks for watching and commenting Brenda Benoît Dudley and hope you like the India content we have coming up! Cheers, Sheena
Thomas does indeed do an amazing job. What video did he watch to learn?
Hi! I don't recall sorry. I just typed in something like "how to edit a video on (insert whatever software you use)" and watched the first hit. From there it's just been a lot of studying and research etc to get me where I am now. Thanks for the support! Cheers, Thomas 😀
