@@adotintheshark4848 It's all personal taste. Hollywood's Swinging, Funky Stuff, Jungle Boogie were the most requested in the 70's era. Celebrate, Fresh, Get Down On It, Misled were the most requested in the 80's. Club only, but Too Hot was requested like crazy on the radio.
One of my top favorite bands of all time (it's a tie between them and EWF)! My favorite episode of SOUL TRAIN was the one that featured them (I believe they were the only band on there that day, with no other guests)! To this day, if "JUNGLE BOOGIE" is played at a skating rink, I will get out on the floor and SHOW OUT!!! R.I.P. to those members who have passed away! THANKS FOR THE WONDERFUL MEMORIES!!!👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾
The JT era and the ‘poppier’ sound may have given them greater success but it definitely took away the musical edge that was Kool! I was about 5-6 yrs old when one of my brother’s first played wild & peaceful- I was hooked on that sophisticated funk rawness and still am 50 years on!! RIP Ronald Bell
Love their music, but their 70s R&B, Funk and Jazz cuts are 🔥. "Jungle Boogie, Hollywood Swinging, Winter Sadness, Open Sesame, Summer Madness, Ladies Night" to name a few.
What an iconic band for sure. On my journey to learning to play the bass back in '78 Robert Bell was one of my inspirations. What awesome basslines he created. I remember first seeing kool & The Gang on Soul Train that iconic instrumental song "Summer Madness". But when J.T. joined the band those songs with him on lead really solidified them as one of my favorite bands. J.T. brought so much energy, and his voice was always so unique and recognizable. So sad to see so many of the original band members has left us. So many of the groups that I grew up lovin' in the 60's and 70's band mates have passed on from this earth. Much love to all the groups that I loved listening to growing. Peace Out.

The closest I got to them was 1973 playing with a Band that backed the stars . Stacey Henry and the Majestics. We were playing at an auditorium @ VT in Va. Kool and the Gang were at the Gym doing a concert. We played as an opening act for the Jimmy Caster Bunch who had a string of hits that had a funk flavor(Bertha Butt & Troglodyte). Best short history of K&TG I've heard to date. I grew up listening to this band in the 1970s and 1980s, the decade they peaked. Their music was popular even in some Asian countries where I was assigned to while on active duty in the military. They were truly a deep quality band that produced excellent sounding music. Kudos.

Jungle Boogy made me a fan in their transformation from jazz to funk. In the 80s they went the pop route and succeeded. My personal favorite was the "Emergency" Lp and it went down hill after that. 80s
Jt taylors era was the best
In my opinion the best Kool and Gang music was the early 70's and pre-disco era. This was one of the greatest funk music of ALL TIME!
I liked the raw sound back then of "Hollywood Swingin'" and "Jungle Boogie". Later they became just another successful pop band.
And 80s yup
Hollywood Swingin' Jungle Boogie, Open Sesame... and maybe I've left other titles out- idk.
Regardless of who was there and who wasn’t through the years, they are and will always be a timeless group with a beautiful sound.
