Why is it laughable when Marlon, Dwayne's brother, is the one that says he passed? His death is also briefly discussed in Tommy Davidson's memoir and David Peisner's history of the show. In his memoir, Davidson discusses Dwayne's son being a musical composer. This led me to the conclusion that Dwayne Wayans (the son) is the one that the recent credentials are for. You can also look at Dwayne's IG and you can see that he's a different (and much younger man) than the Dwayne that appeared on ILC. Also, based on my research, two sources claim he's alive: IMDB and Wikipedia. Other sources simply refer back to those two. If you have a credible source claiming he's alive, I'd love to see it.
Considering that Marlon had 4 brothers and Damon, Keenen, and Shawn are still alive doing interviews and stand up, who else would he be talking about? You're not going with Wikipedia (which can be edited by anyone) and IMDB over me, you're going with them over Dwayne's literal brother and acquaintances. IMDB also says that Shawn is Dwayne's parent LOL. If you wanna be a contrarian, just say that lol.
True that. Big budget box office blockbuster biopic. Amazing American story. But like the narrator said, I rarely hear or see much about their story. I mean, there's countless movies and videos about the birth of SNL.
I loved Homey the Clown. I was working as a substitute teacher and when the kids tried to pull some sh*t I said "Hey, Homey don't Play Dat." They knew exactly what I meant.
It was but them saying it was the best 4 yr show ever is a little delusional. CHAPELLE SHOW was by far the best short run show/comedy/anything ever made and there's not even a close second.
One of the funniest families ever. Me and my family would sit around the TV Sunday nights and it was In Living Color, The Simpsons, and Married With Children.

Well done!👏🏽 Also, Marlon wasn't lying when he said that the pilot show stopped crime for a day. I can remember the exact night it aired, I was 10 and it was a spring night in North Philadelphia and everybody stopped what they were doing, corner boys, kids, parents and the entire block, found a house to go watch the first In Living Color. And, all you could hear was laughs bursting out of the screen doors the entire time it aired. My favorite was fire marshall bill and homie the clown!💯
I watched this as a little white child every Sunday, age 10-12, and I remember every day at elementary school on Monday we’d all be doing the characters and skits. I used to bop my brother with a Homie the Clown sock. The brilliance of the show made a real impression on me
Listen, I could just watch the Arsenio sketches for the rest of my life and be GOOD. That long finger was so ridiculous lol. There's also the fact that Keenen was 6'5 (and generally chill) and jumping around like he had no sense. They're all just 💋🤌🏾 *chef's kiss*

I could if the parents went to bed early and I would sneak downstairs and keep the TV low.. I would sit right in front of it.. It was a 13-in TV.... With channel buttons running down the side. t... Of course, no remote... Kids today will never understand the struggle of changing channels.. And having to manually record episodes in a VCR.. Honestly it was stay up late and try to be as quiet as possible.. which was super hard because everything was funny Or you find someone you knew that had it on VCR. And we're willing to let you borrow it.. although we traded VCRs a lot... It sucked because You would have to return it and unless you had a dual deck VCR cassette recorder.. which was the only way you could make a copy... We did this with all the shows... Yep, the trade VCR cassettes... For living color... kids in the hall .. later Beavis and butthead.. South Park... Sifl and Ollie... Wondeshosen... Something that I think they never knew they would do is my husband and I grew up in a poor immigrant neighborhood. Our grandparents immigrated to the United States from Yugoslavia and our parents also struggled through prejudice and being poor. We all would line up in front of our television sets and watch them on TV because they broke down the barriers of racism through comedy and showed us poor kids that we can make it too. We all loved and rooted for them and we understood that hard work could get you out of whatever poverty you were in. Sadly that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore but I think times are going to change again. Thank you for sharing this.

I don't even know how I ended up watching this, but it was well done! I didn't know Keenan went to Tuskegee, that Kim Cole from Living Single was on the first season of In Living Color, or that Damon was on SNL.
IKR. My Great Greats on my moms side had 11 and were farmers in GA. I don't think it was a consistent every day thing. I know when Kim, Keenan, Damon, Shawn, Marlon, and a couple nephs were on OPRAH, Kim told a joke/story how their moms would trick them into cooking the family dinner.
I have not seen or heard of this show in sooooo long. I use to anticipate going to our cabin because it was the only place we ever got it on TV, with one of those old huge satalite dishes. So glad this vid was on my feed!
You did a fantastic job! I love the story of the Waynes as they built an unorthodox legacy that often goes unnoticed. Keep up the great work as I know, this took a tremendous amount of time and effort!
This was a well created, edited, researched, and produced video about one incredibly talented and funny family! "In Living Color" aired before my time but it was and still is a hilarious series and an important part of American entertainment on television! Bravo, Jane for Short!
Thank you!!! Yes, I've been waiting for something like this. In Living Color was my favorite show when I was a kid. I was born in 82, so I was like 10 when the show peaked. It's one of the only good memories of me and my mother. She was a heroin addict and prostitute and I hated going to visit on the weekends with her (I grew up south Florida). But, there were those nights where we'd get pizza and watch this show and we would love it. Growing up I took a lot of that comedy from the show and used it in school to get attention. In middle school all the black kids would want me to do impressions and "act crazy" and I got most of it from the characters on this show. The favorite was me screaming "BAM" like Funky Finger Productions. I had all the DVDs when they came out, and it's so noticeable to see the quality go down in the later seasons. Especially without Damon. Damon was the biggest driving force of comedy on that show. I absolutely love that show and think it is light years beyond any other sketch comedy show I've ever seen. Nothing compares to it. It's ridiculously smart, funny, and over the top. Everything I love. And if you guys wanna laugh... like really laugh... Look up 'Tommy Davidson on Square Dancing!'
Its funny that the narrator and even others around the show were puzzled by David Allen Griers Jamaican accent for the Hey Mon sketch sounding Irish but this is actually historically accurate as that is where the Jamaican accent actually comes from as the very first slaves in the North Americas and especially the Carribean were white and Irish. Yes.dont get it twisted, they were slaves, some also were indentured servants but treated exactly the same. They were eventually housed with the African slaves that the Europeans bought in African slave markets from the other Africans who had enslaved them. The use of Irish slaves started to die out early on because they could not physically withstand the relentless tropical sun like their datker pigmented African brothers could. But by then, the Irish slaves who had taught their fellow black captors english, had left their irish accent with them and then the accent evolved into what we know of today.
Thank you for this great documentary! Very nostalgic! I was 12-13 yo when ILC premiered, and I was instantly hooked. It was a must watch for me and all my friends. Then later in the night was the Arsenio Hall show, which I also loved. ILC was the younger, hipper version of SNL, while Arsenio was the late night talk show for the younger, hipper demographic. Rumors were swirling about a possible ILC reunion show/season with most of the original cast agreeing to return. I read somewhere that FOX was all for it, but wouldn't give Keenan complete control of the show (production, direction, editing, etc) so he refused to do it. Maybe they can get a deal on another platform like Netflix or Hulu. 🤞
I actually cover this in part two. Keenen was onboard for the reboot and they shot most of the pilot, but Keenen thought it wasn't feasible. Also, Keenen was the only OG to sign on. Damon refused to sign on because Fox wouldn't pay him adequately. None of the other OG cast members mentioned it to my knowledge. Thanks for watching!
My uncle got his first job as a producer from in living color. The Wayans made such an impact on him that he (a white Jewish Midwestern man) mostly produced black television shows including Bernie Mac show, black-ish, grown-ish, and mixed-ish.
This was my favorite show to watch to take me away from my stress filled life in the early 90's🎉❤😂😊 I used to dance on stage to Heavy D songs and the crowds loved it🎉😊❤ I think this show paved the way for Dave Chappelle's show🎉😂❤
That show is so much better than SNL. I can't believe SNL is still on TV. There was a period with the church lady and john Lovitz as a liar, I enjoyed that cast. I always enjoyed in living color, but I cannot say the same thing for SNL
Jamie Foxx, J-Lo & Jim Carey were really the only ones whose careers took off from this show becoming more wealthier than the Wayans. Such handsome men. I hope they have more opportunities for successful projects.
I feel am soooooo very gratefully blessed and highly favored by my heavenly God and his son, Jesus Christ, my Savior to have lived to view the premire of "In Living Color," As well as many of the episodes it presented that had my sides splitting with laughter, so many times as I did my homework, after a school day had ended. Thank you, Waynes family members and its many writers, producers, and treasured groups of outstanding talented guest artists!!❤🙏😁
Man they’re such a beautiful family my family is huge if we wasn’t playing football it was in living color, Wayne’s bros, and all of there movies man they kept us out of trouble!
Thank you for this! I grew up watching them, this is a documentary I will have to have my sons watch. The Power of family and sticking together bringing your family with you so everyone is successful. I love it
They were not the beginning of black sketch comedy , rather the first family ran black sketch comedy show on in prime time. Other than that this was an excellent video and well done.
For all of ya’ll making negative comments, its not necessary unless you will complete your own video documentary or have the means to produce and write (motion picture status) a movie about the WAYANS’ life . This was well put together and I appreciate learning so much about them that I did not know.
In lv8ng color was the absolute best sketch comedy of all time to this very day. And side note i love that ya pulled a clip from preston and steve on wmmr interviewing him. Love thar radio show too lol
Twitter has skewed memories… things were still considered controversial then, there are just more loud voices with immediate reactions, now. There were a few sketches on In Living Color poking fun at the same things comedians poke at, today. No one was safe from ribbing with them and that’s what made the Wayans years…👀 so beloved.
A very insightful and thorough story of one of THE most innovative shows in television! I LOVED this program as it was soooo funny!! I remember many of the sketches and continued watching these talented ppl as they grew their careers. Told everybody I knew(before social media ya know) about the show. I'm up in Toronto Canada and the humour absolutely flew as the folks I hung with at that time, ate it up! Great work by Jane for Short in pulling all of this together. Will watch part 2 later. Thanks for giving history to one of the BEST shows. I miss seeing the Wayans family as they are an extremely talented group, and their love for each other is awesome to witness!!!
Kim is definitely the funniest and toughest Wayan out the bunch I love her and any character she have ever played even when she played on “In The House” as the psycho who was all over LL Cool J before they calmed her character down and turned her into a normal acting actress
I am so thankful for your work on this Waynes Documentary. Their family has been just as much impactful for for society as the Jacksons were musically! They did it for hip hop culture, as well racial connections. Inspired generations of Classic comedy and beyond!

Oh wow, I’m here for this documentary !!
Marlon looked so cute in the picture with he and Sean posing in front of the door.....aw.
You did a fantastic job! I love the story of the Waynes as they built an unorthodox legacy that often goes unnoticed. Keep up the great work as I know, this took a tremendous amount of time and effort!
I was living in Las Vegas when this show was on. I made sure to be home when this craziness came on!
I loved In Living Color as a young adolescent in the early 90s. And Don't Be A Menace..... still the best parody movie imo.
I remember watching don’t be a menace on vhs soooo many times 😂
This how families should be.... I really loved this!!! And will watch again & not finished watching it🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥰🥰
Well put together. Real informative and entertaining
I'm a 63 yo white guy who never missed this show! it was genius! Damon in particular was special!
That square dancing skit is the reason I fell in love with Tommy!🤣
I was also born in ‘82. To a Young Petty Officer in the USCG.
Great documentary! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
You did an amazing job with this. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot ❤
I watch reruns and it's still lmao funny!!! My favorite family.( n I'm not related!!!) 🤣🤣🤣😊
Ummm David Allen Grier and Tommy Davidson are very honorable mentions too
Is Marlon not wealthy?
"more wealthier" do you mean money or popularity? The Wayans stay *behind* the camera as well... Not hurting
STILL one of my all time favorite sketch comedies! GREAT job, EXCELLENT post!
I love it
❤ probably the best multi sketch format comedy show ever. Need more of this; in living color. From NYC, love to all. Bless.
The Waynans is a whole empire I didn’t know Kenyan wrote for the Jeffersons very impressive!
They were not the beginning of black sketch comedy , rather the first family ran black sketch comedy show on in prime time. Other than that this was an excellent video and well done.
This was a really well put together and really informative video that keeps your attention. Great stuff!
For all of ya’ll making negative comments, its not necessary unless you will complete your own video documentary or have the means to produce and write (motion picture status) a movie about the WAYANS’ life . This was well put together and I appreciate learning so much about them that I did not know.
Thank you for creating this
My family still quotes In Living Color all the time. A true classic.
This was incredible. Such an amazing job on this.
I love the Wayan Family because the love they share as a family is and will always be a legend.❤❤❤
I typically hate long videos but I wish this was longer!!!! Great content and knowledge
This documentary is fantastic! It must have taken ages to research, gather resources, script, narrate, etc. I'm genuinely in awe. Wow.
A truly great video essay. Brilliant! The Wayans' are truly a great family of talent and love.
In lv8ng color was the absolute best sketch comedy of all time to this very day. And side note i love that ya pulled a clip from preston and steve on wmmr interviewing him. Love thar radio show too lol
Lol thanks. I liked that interview a lot. I feel like you rarely see Shawn and Keenen together like that
This is slowly starting to become one of my favorite UA-cam channels.
Thanks for doing this. I will always love and respect the Wayans family. Marlon is my fav ❤
Great job. Thank you.
Amazing work on this documentary. Thank you.
Thanks for the new video! I always love watching your work! Already 33 minutes in😁😄
Thank you, I always appreciate you being here ❤️
At 4:15, I see Marlon and keenan in their fathers face.😊
This was dope, thank you for this excellent work👍🏿👍🏿
Kim is definitely the funniest and toughest Wayan out the bunch I love her and any character she have ever played even when she played on “In The House” as the psycho who was all over LL Cool J before they calmed her character down and turned her into a normal acting actress
We watched that series a couple months ago. That was a good show & Kim was hilarious in it 😂😂😂I liked they calmed her character down
One of my favorite shows ever!
Damon’s run on ‘ILC’ is only equaled by Eddie Murphy and Will Ferrell’s runs on ‘SNL’.
Great documentary. Not only are the Wayans' funny, but they conquered a lot.
You did such an amazing job narrating! I must say, your voice never got Tiredning as others do and everything was well put together! Phenomenal job!
Great documentary! Took me all the way back! Thank you 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I am so thankful for your work on this Waynes Documentary. Their family has been just as much impactful for for society as the Jacksons were musically! They did it for hip hop culture, as well racial connections. Inspired generations of Classic comedy and beyond!
Enjoyed this very much. In Living Color was groundbreaking. I would stop whatever I was doing to watch it. Absolute comedic genius!
