      Neferati So that makes everyone else ignorant because they have a reluctance to eat pig blood?

    • @kuiyeondae
      @kuiyeondae 9 років тому +28

      Chris Recinos I mean, if you put it in perspective, pig blood is more organic than french fries, which is so artificial.
      I eat it with hot pot and it takes freaking amazing. If nobody told them what it was, they would have probably thought it was tofu or something

    Why did that one girl even volunteer in this video if she clearly wasn't going to even chew any of the spicy food. She literally just spit everything out, coughed like it was disgusting and kept making weird faces.

      fukdisfukdat They are but they have this mindset that it's gross before they even try it.

    • @lorpoor
      @lorpoor 9 років тому +26

      Ann Nguyen Well, if the origins of the food were disgusting to them, it would affect their opinions of its taste. I use to eat fried pig blood and pork on a regular basis in a filipino restaurant, but I immediately avoided it once I saw how it was cooked. And no they didn't have an automatic mindset that it's gross. They thought it was gross because they were told it was pig blood. The origins of the food are just as important as how it tastes.

    • @urank1a
      @urank1a 8 років тому +6

      But it's still extremely rude to the culture, I also extremely hate pickles and make me want to vomit but if I must have them I eat them with a normal face and not full of disgust or politely either reject the offering or spit it properly into a napkin as I've mentioned before.

    • @urank1a
      @urank1a 8 років тому

      ***** I don't mean to be rude, but your avoiding my point, I'm forcing myself to eat something I absolutely disgust, they're horrid in my opinion but I eat them when I must and she didn't consume much of this food she tried and if I was absolutely disgusted by it I would spit it out in a napkin if I didn't have one just swallow it down extremely quickly. If she was allergic I'd understand but obviously she wasn't.

    Aren't the reactions slightly over the top? I mean, not liking it is one thing, but to just spit it out in such an exaggerated fashion is just rude and ignorant. Props to Eugene who seems to be the only one who's more open-minded. And to those who say he doesn't mind because he's Asian, he's KOREAN, not CHINESE; not all Asians are the same.

      Megan Twiss I said Ignorant Americans. I didn't say all Americans are ignorant. I'm an American myself. If you watch Trevor carefully, then you'll realize that even Trevor dislike certain Chinese dishes. But he does it respectfully. I only like authentic Chinese food but that doesn't mean I like ALL Chinese dishes either. What makes a person like you and others considered to be ignorant? It's the attitude and the air of how a person carries herself. As if all these people are just wacked out crazy to prepare their food this way, as if the world should only turn in a way that suits your needs. If you think Mona Lisa is an ugly painting then please don't pay the admission to go to Louver Museum. If you think caviar tastes like crap, then please don't waste your money on it. If you think authentic Chinese food tastes disgusting then don't try authentic Chinese food then. Panda Express was made just for you. You see, it takes true craftsmanship and many years of practice to make good authentic food. There is no need to be puking and cursing at it. That's just being disrespectful to the chefs and the heritage behind it. Because just like Mona Lisa and caviar, certain things are just too sophisticated for you to appreciate.

    who does he think he is to tell an entire region of food: "sichuan, you can do better than this?" it's a special cuisine that's existed for centuries, he's disparaging a cultural heritage basically. American tastes are different and haven't experience the spice level before, however that seems to be their problem not the cuisine's. The way everyone kept suggesting ways to "make it better" by americanizing the food by adding pineapple slices or frying it is really insulting.

    It's one of the best cuisines in the world. They treat fish quite nicely too, and they have a flavour called "strange flavour" which is a mix of sour, salty and sweet. Looking at those dishes I'm not sure this is from a good Sichuan restaurant though... I cook this stuff, it's supposed to look different. Twice cooked pork isn't dry. As iconic dishes, there's also the stir fried garlic shoots with lardons, the tai bai chicken, cumin beef, and two things you forgot to show here: the cold dishes (Sichuan cuisine is famous for that), and the fondue, which is made with a very spicy broth at the table.

    Ok, straight up, eff the beard man, we can do better than twice cooked pork? It's one of my favorite dishes, and is famous throughout china! If you ask someone about sichuan dishes, they'll say twice cooked pork. And it's a great dish! It's meat that's simmered, then fried, with crispy lean meat, skin with nice chew, and even fat that does have tenderness! And, the meat is full of tons of flavor! Don't get me wrong, I love nice tender barbecued pork belly, but to say that twice cooked pork ruins pork belly is naive. Twice cooked pork belly masterfully makes the most out of the magnificent meat that is pork belly, and proudly displays how it creates a spectrum of flavors and textures out of the strata of the pork belly. Just because it isn't all tender doesn't mean it isn't a fantastic use of the meat.
    So, no, beard man. Sichuan can't do better; your taste buds can.

      MAKI 黒猫 I think the blonde one spit the foot out because it was too spicy, not because she didn't like it. If you never eat spicy that can be really tough :P

    Wimps. Ma La all the way!!! My once-a-month is Chengdu Impression, the most authentic Sichuan place in Chicago. I've tried all those dishes, and I HATE tripe. Fu Qi Fei Pian is AMAZING. The only part they got wrong is that Sichuan NEEDS rice. That's what tones down the flavor. It's an important part to the meal.

      +The EnderLord The real Kung Pao called Gong Bao Ji Ding not only has chillies but Sichuan peppercorns only native to China. It's a kind of spice that is unlike anything in this world. It has a numbing sensation closest thing to it is nutmeg on steroids.

    • @700694
      @700694 9 років тому +1

      firebaby7 it is in some places, it's one of those words where translating the sounds directly into English is hard because there aren't really letters that are exact equivalents so there is a certain amount of interpretation used by the people translating :)

    • @orangecloud8820

      Sichuan is th REAL spell

    • @winnie66
      @winnie66 9 років тому +24

      firebaby7 Szechuan is basically a butchered way of spelling/saying Sichuan. Sichuan is the correct spelling for the province, it follows the pinyinization of the two characters.

    • @ShawnieEllis
      @ShawnieEllis 9 років тому +3

      ***** most of the places that sell Sichuan cuisine at least in parts of the USA spell it Szechuan because its easier to pronounce and understand for non native speakers. This is probably the first time loads of people have seen it spelled differently :p

    I don't get why people who are not wanting to eat certain food or do certain things, then they are suddenly labelled 'ignorant'. I don't get it. If someone doesn't want to do something that they don't want, doesn't mean that they're ignorant or close minded, it just means that they are not accustomed or not comfortable to do those things. Just because i don't want to bungee jump doesn't mean i'm ignorant/close-minded, it just means i'm not comfortable to do it. That's all.

    Pigs blood is a common dish in Sweden. We serve it in schools even. It's blood and wheat mixed togehter. You eat it with butter, jam & bacon. It's really good, I think. I don't eat alot of pork any more, but sometimes I have cravings for "blodpudding" translated to "blood pudding".
