Holy crap the soft ASMR was actually pretty damn calming lol Can't wait for the feder comparisons-- looking into who to get my next longsword from for gaudy custom designs.
I just received my Easton mark 3 saber on Monday. Have had one class to play with it, but so far I love the design. Got the spatulated tip and moderate curve. I was worried that it would be a little too light and whippy for me, but it has great handling and balanced forward enough to have some momentum and strength in the cuts without feeling heavy or cumbersome. Took me almost a year to get it what with all the Russia and moving to Georgia thing but I can't really blame Kvetun for that.
I really like your videos, Matt. Not only do I get educated about arms & armor, but I always get a good laugh, you have a great sense of humor. Cheers!
My Lichtenauer arrived about 2 months ago. I with the leather wrap, clubmate with the cord. The balance on the L has been a joy to work with. Love the way it flows when moving with it. One issue with the cord wrap is it got a bit chipped up on its first day. Clubdude rewrapped it with his own preferred cord so no big issue. Leather has held up well. Made everyone in the club swing it around and now we're about to order enough of the L's for the rest of the club.
Looking forward to getting this order! Please, make in before Jan 24th, so we'll slap it into the queue for the next month production! Chers, Alex. Kvetun Director.
I have been using the Kvetun Liechtenauer for about a year now and I love it. I've even been choosing it over my two Sigi concepts. They all have a similar flex profile but just something about where the weight is distributed on my Kvetun keeps me coming back to it. My only issue has been that the cord got destroyed and I need to replace it, but other than that, it has been a great sword.
I enjoy the softer voice, thank you very much: Although my new headset can go lower in volume, the frequency of your voice is much more pleasant when softer😁👍
Matt, When you are unboxing anything that is coated in rust inhibitor, you should have a couple of regs available as well as either degresser or isopropyl alcohol. I have found that high purity isopropyl alcohol works almost as well as degresser, but it has a great deal less fumes. Which is needed if you are doing it inside your house.
I can't honestly believe I said that.......When I'm making videos my brain is about 30 seconds ahead of what I am saying, so sometimes what I'm saying gets forgotten...
i really like both swords. i finally ordered the Liechtenauer even though I live nowhere near to a HEMA club. I hope it feels nice too. but man this was a hard choice. I absolutely adore the hilt and the fuller on the 1570 but i prefer the overall asthethics of the Lichtenauer. Now I hope it feels nice for solo drills in my garden :)
I have the feder they made before the Lichtenauer - really similar model, but not a bad sword at all! Not as good as my Sigi, but still very good. Also - their integrated leg/knee protectors are AMAZING.
Fencing insight: Excellent Historical insight: Excellent ASMR: Not bad for a beginner I suppose the real thing about speaking loudly and distinctly is... context. Most of the subjects you deal with, a drill instructor's voice isn't a bad thing. But story time with Uncle Matt might benefit from a softer tone, depending on the subject matter. But, being aware that the option is there is the first step, so you did yourself proud! 😄
Quiet Matt was disconcerting, but funny for the 'bit'. Sakartvelos gaumarjos! Probably my favourite country on earth. I hope to visit/live there again one day (when Russia isn't being so boisterous)
Matt, I will say that I didn't expect to actually like your "softer" voice, but it's grown on me, so while I don't say change your style (Your videos are very consistent and that's always nice), I wouldn't mind if you actually did use your softer voice form time to time
Matt, I haven’t read the entire book, but Meyer says in a couple places that the “sword” is the most common weapon used by “us Germans” followed by the Dussack. He only seems to use the term “sword” when referring to the longsword. Wouldn’t that imply that, at least in his view, that the longsword was in common use in his time?
"And now we observe a _Scholagladiatoria Mattus Eastoni_ in its natural habitat, demonstrating its ravenous predilection for round nobs and greasy surfaces..." 🤓
Seems to bend almost like a feather does. I wonder why it’s called a feather sword ? Is it the light weight or the flex characteristics or both that make it a feather sword. It’s not the shilt or it would be called a shilt sword.
Kvetun operate thru distributors, they have a list of people to contact for various countries. Tends to be a club owner helping fund their club but it gets the product in country.
Sorry, I just HAD to dig up this: (from Blackadder: "shout, shout and shout again") ua-cam.com/video/vZOr0vMz3AM/v-deo.html The Kvetun swords are so good. Well, just when I thought my wallet was safe...
If you're going to do ASMR, please start a second channel for it. I'm nearly deaf and very backwoods Texan (so British accents are already a struggle for me), so I couldn't hear about 75% of what you said, and didn't understand 90% of what I heard while you were whispering.
Ngl, I'm looking at both of those side by side, and I kind of wish they were combined lol. I prefer the crossguard and the broader fullered blade on the Meyer, but I think I prefer the broader shilt on the Liechtenauer, and it sounds like the Liechtenauer handles more like an actual sword, whereas the Meyer sounds like more of a "I want to win at sports" tool ;)
As a Russian fencer, I also recommend you to test rapiers from Varga forge. It is located in city of Asbest. And they make pretty good ones, they worth trying definitely
BTW, as another Russian fencer - I'd double this, but being careful regarding delivery timing: normally you'll have to wait twice as long as Bogdan/ Varga would promice receiveing your advance payment ))) But, nevertheless, this doesn't have anything to do with the quality of the Varga blades: generally it stands significantly longer then Kvetun. Buried a Kvetun Easton saber today at Open Sparring Day in MwS, Moscow: it popped with the beautiful twing. Quenching fault, most likely. Served two guaranty terms, so paid back its price - and was balanced at least not worse then Varga. Which is still running - I've ordered their Radaelli almost simultaneously with Kvetun Easton.
Do not under any circumstances whisper into you mic ever again. Please, please if you have even the slightest feeling for us, continue to shout at in your videos.
Interesting that they're almost identical in overall length but one has about two inches more blade and less grip. Appropriate to users with different arm lengths or just personal preference? Please keep talking as if to a crowd. And please, let ASMR die the quick death we deserve. I don't want to suffer through its lingering demise. For my money it's as passe as bow-chicka-wow-wow music while stripping wrappings and screen covers off of electronics.
What an irony - 20 minutes ago the ru*sian missile attack ended, and when I go online, I see how Matt telling about his cooperation with a ru*sian company.

I fast forwarded in the video by accident and spoilered myself.
Exactly. It could just as well have been a weird fishing rod.

Glad you like it! Our club has a couple of students who use them, and they really love them, too.
Its an amazing sword. Its also very kind towards ur opponents when thrusting. Easily the best saber on the market.
I really like your videos, Matt. Not only do I get educated about arms & armor, but I always get a good laugh, you have a great sense of humor. Cheers!

Chers,
Alex. Kvetun Director.
How does the Kvetun Lichtenauer fare in the bind vs a stiffer feder such as an Ensifer or Regenyei strong?
Your ASMR was spot on!
I have been using the Kvetun Liechtenauer for about a year now and I love it. I've even been choosing it over my two Sigi concepts. They all have a similar flex profile but just something about where the weight is distributed on my Kvetun keeps me coming back to it. I have the Lichtenauer as well and agree with all the above.
Do you have the rolled or spatulated tip and if it's the latter, is it big enough for safe thrusting without adding a rubber tip protector?
I enjoy the softer voice, thank you very much: Although my new headset can go lower in volume, the frequency of your voice is much more pleasant when softer😁👍

I love the scent of isopropyl alochol.
... I am not an alcoholic.
Thank you for the Review, very informative as always.

The bulked up part of the cord wrapped grip looked brilliant. It should be offered as a usual option.

Oooh I quite like the soft spoken Matt Easton!
Try a bone-cast-saw for opening those wrapped up packages, never damages leather or wood, let alone steel.
Mate. You did not just say that sword had a nice swollen knob and was ribbed. I did not expect this today. I approve but I did not expect it
Hey Matt can you give us the sound of a cow at 13:39? Thanks.
If your career doesn't pan out, I think you have quite a promising future in Dirty Book Narration!
Nice and smooth asmr vibes
Matt has invoked the Forbidden Third

I would love them to do a new take on their cuphilt rapier. the old one was a little too floppy in the blade.

Are these tips the spatulated tips?
Matt's intrusive thoughts won today.
When you started whispering while unwrapping the sword, it sounded like some kind of weird ASMR
I think a description of the various 19th century officers sword hilt patterns would work as an ASMR video.
Hello good day, im selling my wwll gunto tanaka, any idea where to find buyer this.
the lichtenauer schilt looks like a castle/chapel. very robust
You should make a series of ASMR videos when you clean your swords and teel a historical storie
At the risk of exposing my ignorance, what is a feder? I think that it is a practice sword but I am not sure.
Matt, I will say that I didn't expect to actually like your "softer" voice, but it's grown on me, so while I don't say change your style (Your videos are very consistent and that's always nice), I wouldn't mind if you actually did use your softer voice form time to time
Sweet 👍 can you test one to failure or send one to Matt Jenson to destroy? I would like to see more feeders and practice swords tested to failure.
