Exactly. Noticed Dave overtook the GT4s a number of times taking away their racing line and forcing them to take avoidance. The LMP3 can take multiple lines because of the aero, so the onus should be on the LMP3 to take the offline option when overtaking IMO... But tbh, Overtaking is so hard over the mountain in any cars, there's always going to be incidents and misunderstandings.

Dave, you know better. You drive GT4s and you know their lines. You also know what they're like once you commit to a corner. You can't expect them to just not drive their lines just because you're getting unlucky. And it's not their job to get out of the way. Part of the process of learning the LMP3, I suppose! The GT4 will always drift across the track where you overtook him.. i think that was a bit gready on your part. You're a good driver but i hate people always blaming GT cars when trying to overtake them. You owned up but sometimes you just have to take the L. Bathurst is dangerous at the best of times.

Absolutely it is, I'm not debating that. However, I could have sent it so many times on so many people, but didn't. Like I said, it's all about working together. If everyone does that everyone finishes, simple. It is the responsibility of the slower car to facilitate an overtake. If I was the gt4 in that situation I would have taken a little speed off and let him though on the outside. That's the difference I guess between a 2k to a 5k driver. That last sentence sounds like I'm being a dick, but I'm really not 😁

I don’t want to sound like a hater but that first corner incident looked like a border line intentional wreck. You almost dropped it on the kerb, then continued drifting left even when he was well and truly alongside you, then made zero effort to avoid contact.
I also think the incident on the gt4 is on you. If you look at the moment the McLaren decides to commit to his line (at corner entry) you're still not side by side. Driving a gt4 I would've assumed you were going to back off then and go for the pass after the corner. You can pass through there, although it's very difficult, but you need to be there before corner entry, to force the gt4 to take the narrower line. Otherwise the gt4 will be put in this position of either taking the normal line, or preemptively backing off and losing a ton of time without a clear sign that the overtake is going to happen, which I think is an unreasonable thing to expect from him. That being said rest of the race you were perfectly patient with all the moves, from a GT point of view, no complaints. It is very difficult with such a speed difference, even more so in a track like this, mistakes will happen as we're all amateurs and decisions need to be made in split seconds, it's all good.
I'm currently racing Dallara F3 on Bathurst so it was great to see you in an LMP on the same track! Love your videos pal, always a considerate but competitive racer 👍🏻

I understand what you’re saying, but if I was in that GT4, I would have known for certain that the LMP3 behind was going through that door and made room just in case. But like Dave said, they hit the curb which forced them wide. Any line a car takes, on any corner and on any track, can and should be controlled by the driver and not the characteristics of the circuit.

a track with no run off area in its fast turns is terrifying in a car that relies so much on aerodynamic grip, and bathurst is one of the top 3 for that :P well driven dave, and dont be too hard on yourself for not perfecting it - theres a reason they dont run lmp2s and formula cars around bathurst in real life... everyone would die :P

Unluckiest guy at Bathurst was the guy in fixed last night who started P1 and died at the last turn before the back straight. The car does not want to brake or turn there on lap 1
Could you please share your camera settings for this car? I have the same monitor as you do. Been interested in the car but test drive always felt wrong with the inverted driving position...
In my opinion second incident with the gt4 was on you. GT4 as you know from your own racing can't take that corner without going to the outside, without going out of their way to slow down and let you through - not something that lower class is supposed to do. But good race otherwise :)
@@davecamyt it's good to cooperate if both drivers lose less time that way, but in this case guy was committed to the line and there was no reasonable way for him to adjust it last moment. You have the downforce to try the move on the inside without compromising GT4 lines. Perhaps it's a matter of opinion but I've always seen the rule of thumb for lower class is to drive their lines predictably and not change them to allow faster class through, because it's more dangerous. Say you wanted to take the inside and the GT4 tried to "help" by opening the outside - you'd have a crash. But sticking to normal GT4 line, you are fully aware of available space and there are no surprises for anyone.
The view for you guys wasn't great with the A pillar on the right, so moved the camera to the left so you could see more. That meant the steering wheel was off and looked stupid 😁

As a gt4 driver you're ruthless with traffic Dave 😂 That's why I always laugh when gt drivers are constantly criticizing proto drivers. In the end we are all the same 🤝 Lmp3 is a lot of fun at bathurst but adding gt4 in the mix is not, for me. Did one race and bailed to the lmp3 fixed.
Passing on the outside in the slower class's racing line will bite you. You are just hoping they saw you and will go off the throttle although it is not on them to do so.
2 dirty moves from you. idk why u are trying to sugarcoat something but its bs. the really sad part is even if you get reported nothing ll happen. iracing is protecting their streamers well.
I think they were both his fault more than the other driver, but neither of those are protestable. Theyre both just racing incidents. Reports/protests arent really for mistakes during overtakes or during battles, theyre for intent wrecks, careless rejoins, blocking, etc. None of that is what happened here.

There's an LMP3 only series called "LMP3 Trophy - Fixed". Its a C class fixed series that appears to follow the multiclass schedule
